First, I truly appreciate the room upgrade we received (from a premium suite to a grande suite). The staff are very kind and supportive. We in fact appreciated the shuttle service from and to Lugano Central Station. The hotel is greatly located, accessible by public transport, and some suits offer great views to Lugano lake and the city. Our villa was air conditioned which is both rare and a great feature. The pools looked cleaned, and the infinity pool offered amazing views towards the lake. However, the inside pool was occupied by the aqua fitness courses and we could not enjoy that. In addition, the breakfast was modest, though the scrambled egg was particularly good. They also offer a very nice coffee. About the suit: I expected our suit to be more charming, however it mostly looked empty and there were no specific decorations like the official photos. So, the vibe was a bit disappointing and the room equipment was rather old. Overall, the view and staff made it worth the money we paid.

We had a wonderful stay here at the beginning of August. We booked a premium suite (room 153) and seemed to be very lucky as the room was brand newly decorated. It was spacious and very clean. Over looking the pool and the city. We used the pool each day and never struggled for sun-beds. I thought it was a lovely touch that they provide you with a bag to use for the pool. |We ate in both restaurants and were very happy with both. Breakfast was also very good but couldn’t enjoy it outside as too many wasps (can’t be helped) |The location was perfect, 10 min walk from station and down to the lake. Plus you are given a free bus pass for your stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back.

Comfortable, quiet, great views from rooms and outside restaurant terrace, very good breakfast, helpful and friendly staff. Unusual and novel layout, the room I had was much bigger than expected, comfortable bed. Overall, well maintained and clean, also good value. Check room view on booking as other side of hotel misses out on the awesome mountain and lake views.

Service in the hotel- top of the top. Super kind, helpful. Rooms are specious (at least mine was). Great location with the view over the lake. Also not far from the train station- max.10 minutes walking distance. The only thing I would pay more attention is the cleaning service - dusty hanging from lamps etc.- not a really nice view ;) Also- internet connection working perfectly.

The hotel and facilities were really beautiful, and the staff were super friendly. I had booked a premium suite, and they upgraded me to the top floor. The apartment was huge, with three bathrooms and two bedrooms. The view was absolutely amazing. The amenities at the hotel make you just want to stay in all day without even going out.

I don’t normally leave reviews but the staff here are so helpful and awesome. They picked us up from the station (waited 10 mins because we were lost) and dropped us off at the station on our last day which was extremely helpful as we had some heavy bags. They also gave us a free upgrade upon checking in which was hugely appreciated as it was our honeymoon and really made it special. The hotel while dated in places really makes up for it it in charm. It’s a bit like stepping back in time but in a really nice way. Everything is extremely clean and our bedding and bed were extremely comfortable. They even asked us what type of pillow we preferred before arriving and as we like softer pillows they provided these which was great. The pool area is amazing the views are incredible. Breakfast is also decent and the staff can’t do enough for you. We’d really love to come back, thanks so much!

My Negative Experience at Villa Sassa Hotel I recently stayed at Villa Sassa Hotel in their Grand Suite room. Expecting a luxurious experience, I specifically informed the hotel by phone that I would be traveling with a young child and requested the room to be prepared accordingly. However, upon entering the room, I was shocked to find that the room was not prepared at all for a child. There were two huge glass tables that posed a serious safety hazard and made the room very uncomfortable. The furniture was also very old and outdated, definitely not matching the expectations for a "Grand Suite." The photos attached do not fully reflect the condition of the room. At around 2:30 AM, the air conditioning in the room broke down, causing great discomfort. The air conditioners, especially the one in the living room, were very noisy and clearly old. For people sensitive to noise, these units are absolutely not suitable. had to go down to the reception twice during the night. Thankfully, one young staff member at the reception was very helpful and did his best to assist me. However, the next morning, another reception employee spoke to me in a rude and threatening manner, saying things like, "If you speak properly, we can continue this communication." Such behavior is unacceptable in customer service. Furthermore, the restaurant staff were mostly rude and arrogant. When we asked about items not on the menu, we were told, "Please do not ask about items that are not available." The poor English skills of the waiters made it difficult to communicate and place orders. Additionally, the hotel did not offer any healthy breakfast options, which was disappointing. Due to these issues, I requested a 30% refund. However, the staff informed me that the manager is on vacation and they cannot process refunds at this time. They only offered a discount on a massage service, which I did not accept. Attached are photos showing the large glass tables in the room, which clearly demonstrate why this room was not suitable for a child. I expect a written response and proper resolution from Villa Sassa management. I am sharing my experience so that others do not go through the same problems. I strongly advise anyone considering staying at Villa Sassa Hotel to be cautious.

The hotel offers a free shuttle service to and from the train station if you contact them in advance and also gives you a free travel card to use during your stay. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel and you can walk to the main square in about 10-15 minutes.||We received a warm welcome on check and our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable.||The hotel location has beautiful views of the lake and the outdoor swimming pool has great views.||Breakfast had great choice and there were good gluten free options. The bar staff were very friendly and their Aperol Spritz were very good.

Yelp
The hotel villa Sassa is definitly well placed on top of Lago di Lugano with a wonderful view on the lake and the mountains. Some of the many rooms the hotel must have are close to a quite noisy street. The infrastructure is definitely of a 4 star hotel - especially good and really also state of the art and very spacious is the fitness area. That's probably also one if the reasons why the Swiss national football team (Nati) is also staying in this hotel when they have a match in Italy. The infrastructure of the rest of the hotel is from the 80/90ies but the prices definitely from a todays 4 star hotel. In oder words - a quite good hotel but way too expensive for the outdated infrastructure.

Yelp
Spectacular, Gorgeous Setting with Two Safety Issues The setting of this hotel, and the huge balcony off our room with gorgeous views of Lake Lugano and the mountains, make me hesitant to raise two safety issues that might deter some. There was only one stairway in case of fire. It's odd that this is allowed in Switzerland of all places, but the layout of the hotel is rather unconventional in that the reception desk is at ground level and then guests take an elevator down a level which is linked to several buildings and you take an elevator up to your room in one of these. The website says that part of the complex is for long-term residents, part a conference center, with part serving as a conventional hotel. Second safety issue was entrance and egress from the tub/shower. A fixed partition meant that you had to step into the sloped bottom at the end of the tub. I braced myself on the nearby sink but I always found my feet slipping slightly on the wet surface as I climbed in and out. This setup should be corrected and grab bars installed. We did have wonderful meals in the hotel restaurant and the breakfast was excellent with (again) those breathtaking views. There is a very nice pool which also has a great setting. Be sure to ask at the desk for the free pass on local busses (bus stop just outside the hotel to center of town), as taxis in Lugano are outrageously expensive (one relatively short ride to a restaurant cost $60 one way!). Would I stay here again? Quite possibly (life has its risks), and it's too bad I have to identify two shortcomings.

Yelp
The hotel is great in (almost) all points. We had a veeeery spacious and nice room with a beautiful pool and lake view (I guess we were upgraded). The room and the hotel in general are very clean and in good keep. The staff is very attentive and always ready to help. The gym, swimming pool and jacuzzi are nice, too. Breakfast is great, there was almost everything you might wish, incl salmon and Prosecco (though I did not try it). Cappuccino is tasty. Some shortcomings: cold water in pool, only separated saunas for men and women, lack of frish fruit for breakfast (fruit salad is sugared), no chicken cold cuts (only pork), dinner was rather dissapointing (no choice for the main course, small portions as for a normal man, the atmoshere of wanna-be-classy). All in all I enjoyed my stay in Villa Sassa in Lugano and would recommend it for a stay.

Yelp
This place has an amazing gym and a nice pool and view. Location is not ideal, nothing in the immediate neighborhood but very close to train station. The rooms can be very nice and spacious depending on where you get located but only if you get an upgrade. The food is decent, particularly breakfast but they run out of pastries very fast....apart from these things the service is very bad given the price. They are not accommodating and they don't provide the service they should given the price. Their bad service outweighs their amenities which is kind of frustrating (hence the two stars) because the place has potential to be a really nice hotel overall.
