43 Best Hotels in Rome of 2024

"The entrance to Villa Spalletti Trivelli is as grand as you’d expect, this being a villa after all. And what a villa it is, with a sandstone exterior overlooking a garden of trimmed hedges and manicured lawns. Inside, you feel like you’ve stumbled into someone else’s home, rather than a hotel; the bedsheets are soft, the pillows and mattress so comfortable, that you’re basically cradled to sleep. Best of all, the staff is so accommodating (and inconspicuous) that you feel like you can roam around the villa to your heart’s content, and pretend it’s your very own." - Maresa Manara

Villa Spalletti Trivelli

"How did it strike you on arrival? The entrance to Villa Spalletti Trivelli is as grand as you’d expect, this being a villa after all. And what a villa it is, with a creamy sandstone exterior overlooking a garden of trimmed hedges and manicured lawns. Inside, you feel like you’ve stumbled into someone else’s home, rather than a hotel. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Couples, plus families on holidays looking for a peaceful place to stay in the center of Rome. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Villa Spalletti Trivelli feels more like a house than a hotel, with big, elegant lounge rooms for reading or drinks. The Romantic Double Rooms are the smallest of the villa’s abodes, but are nevertheless very lovely. It’s all quite classic: there are huge mahogany French windows just calling to be flung open, a small writing desk, and two armchairs, perfect for cozying up with a book. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The sheets are soft, the pillows and mattress so comfortable that you’re basically cradled to sleep. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? The mini-bar is free, and well enough equipped for a vodka soda on ice. There’s a free bar in the drawing room, too—ideal for whipping up a gin and tonic, to be had in the garden, or in the lounge. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. The bathroom is huge, and made from Italy's famed travertine marble. It’s all beige hues with silver taps, with a separate shower and bath. And the rich and creamy Occitane products in the bathroom do us just fine, thank you very much. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Wi-Fi is excellent, and free. Room service: Worth it?Room service covers all your carb cravings, with a spinach and ricotta ravioli (€26), or penne with fresh pesto (€20) coming out tops. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The gym has enough equipment for a good workout, and there’s free private parking at the property, too, so you don’t have to navigate Rome’s rather confusing parking rules. In summer, guests can soak in the rooftop jacuzzi, then have a light meal on the roof terrace. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?As guests head to the terrace for breakfast and dinner the property gets a little livelier, but mostly this property exudes the kind of tranquillity Rome isn’t known for—making you feel like you’re in your own private hideaway, just a short walk from all the city’s main attractions. Bottom line: worth it, and why? This is a lovely hotel, packed with charm and pleasing quirks, like old family photos scattered throughout. Best of all, the staff and décor are so comforting that you feel like you can roam around the villa to your heart’s content, and pretend it’s your very own." - Maresa Manara

Beyond expectations! It was old school customer service and delightful to experience! You ring the doorbell and they greet you to complimentary drinks while they take your bags. The room was stunning and highly upgraded but classy. Breakfast was complimentary and was sufficient for European style. Everyone was nice, spoke English and called us a taxi whenever needed.

I normally avoid boutique hotels because I prefer the anonymity and amenities of larger-scale hotels. I booked a reservation at Villa Spalletti due to its proximity to the Caravaggio exhibition nearby and I'm so glad I did. ||Villa Spalletti is like a throw-back to an earlier era of travel and leisure. It has gracious sitting rooms on the main level, leading to an outdoor patio. There is a self-service station for drinks all day and each room is stocked with a complimentary mini bar. Continental breakfast is included in the morning. Bed turn-down service is provided at night.||Although I was travelling alone, it seemed like most the other guests were couples travelling together. I was extended warm hospitality as a single traveller but it certainly would have been ever nicer to partake Villa Spalletti's gracious accommodations with a companion.

Rome has no shortage of luxury five-star properties, but Villa Spalletti transcends a generic hotel stay to an exceptional experience. Staying in an elegant villa that has been part of Roman society for the better part of a century can seem intimidating, but the moment we arrived, it felt like we were welcomed home. The entire team is warm and kind and understands the need for guests to rest. They are entirely unobtrusive. However, they quietly anticipate needs and are more than happy to take care of you when you need something. Mr. Andrea Spalletti, the newest generation of this storied family that owns the villa, is very present and engaging with the guests, further elevating the experience. His team quickly learns your preferences and greets you warmly whenever you reenter after an exhausting day running around Rome. The front and bell services team are very welcoming. The chef and the team caring for you in the dining room make you feel completely at home. Housekeeping is meticulous and thoughtful. And then there is Francesco, the Front Office Manager. He welcomed us beautifully, giving a tour of the property and checking on us frequently. Like Andrea, Francesco is a consummate hotelier and host.||And now, the property itself- From the front entrance foyer to the grand public spaces, the dining room, the garden, and the rooftop terrace, the Villa is a wonderful representation of a grand home in Rome. It's a unique opportunity to experience a beautiful way to live. The architectural details are stunning, as are the furnishings and magnificent art, which extend into the sumptuous accommodations. All in all, the Villa Spalletti Trivelli was as memorable as all the riches of Rome. I am already dreaming of the day we will return.

Very warm welcome to this fantastic small hotel. I was able to shower in the gym with early morning arrival. The room is spacious and quiet with all modern equipment despite the fact that this is a 100 years old villa. The breakfast is excellent. The complementary minibar is also well equipped. Walking distance to great restaurants and attractions. Highly recommended

Wow, what a place! Only 14 rooms in a beautiful Italian manor. Honor bar (make your own drinks) after 5, an incredible peaceful garden in the middle of bustling Rome, and a staff that will grant every request. Rooms are large and gorgeous. Location is great - 10 minutes to Colosseum and Forum. Love everything about this place.

Fabulous hotel in a great location. Walking distance to many points of interest. Rooms are gorgeous with every amenity possible. Staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. If you want a luxurious hotel as a base to explore Rome , this is it. It is worth every cent.

A true small luxury hotel in the heart of Rome! The location is excellent, just a few minutes' walk to the Colosseum. We experienced impeccable service and absolutely loved the hot tub and rooftop. Our only minor issue was the Wi-Fi not working during our stay.

Phenomenal hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and kind. My wife injured her ankle before arrival. They helped me get her to our room and bags of ice. I can not recommend this hotel enough. Well worth the price. If we find ourselves in Rome again, I will be staying here.

Yelp
Pure perfection. Rather than reiterate what's been said in the previous review, I will just say that this converted nobile family home is akin to staying at a private mansion. You enter by ringing the bell and the door is answered like it would be if you were a guest at someone's home. There is a wonderful bar with snacks in one of the living areas which is complimentary at all times. It is just one of the many touches that sets this place apart from the typical hotel. The location is also spectacular-it is on a hill right next to the Presidential Palace so lovely and very safe at all times. If you're looking for a very special place to stay, and are not interested in a large luxury hotel experience, Villa Spalletti is your place. It offers all that a luxury commercialized property does with none of the fanfare and crowds. It is incredibly special. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Rome!

Yelp
My family stayed here for vacation in time. This is hands down the best place in Rome. The head of staff, Marco, was the man! He made himself available to our every need, and really made th experience. A true gentleman that made us feel like family. So much so that he made sure new staff that hadn't met us knew who we were by first name. Not necessary, but damn if it wasn't a nice touch. Thank you for a wonderful experience, Marco!

Yelp
My wife and I stayed at Villa Spalletti Trivelli in Rome this past May for our honeymoon, and WOW - we cannot find enough to say to do justice to how amazing our experience here was. First, the staff is extremely wonderful - they are always available, extremely warm and helpful and gracious to the extreme. The facility itself is nothing short of perfect. It is a converted mansion with a very limited number of rooms available for rent, which gives it a quieter feel. It also has a phenomenal library, garden, patio, and ROOFTOP with several hottubs, fully stocked bars, and sauna/steam room/turkish bath. Needless to say, we enjoyed these amenities to the fullest and it was totally worth it. We give this hotel our highest recommendation, and hope that your stay is as wonderful and memorable as ours was.
