A Review of Villa Treville | Hotels Above Par

"Perched on a cliff above the Tyrrhenian Sea in Positano on the Amalfi Coast, this stubbornly unique villa exudes a cinematic, theatrical air shaped in part by its former owner, Franco Zeffirelli. Built into the cliffside with privacy as a hallmark, the property blends Moorish northern African design cues—dim brass lanterns, winding hallways, Neapolitan furniture, Vietri tiles and Murano glass—with a trove of local artwork, 18th-century Catagirone pottery and painstakingly tended vegetable gardens. The intimate, 16-room hotel guarantees sea views, giant beds and well-lit, polished bathrooms; the two-bedroom Romeo e Giulietta Suite is a standout, with immaculate white interiors, a vast terrace offering 180-degree ocean panoramas and a bathroom and bedroom that frame cinematic moments as curtains flutter. Dining is anchored by Maestro, a signature restaurant focused on Campanian seasonal cooking (fresh fish, pizza, pasta) that uses produce from the on-site garden, while Bianca Bar—complete with a Missoni-pillow-strewn couch—is ideal for spectacular, romantic sunsets. Practical touches include a continental-style breakfast that is deliberately restrained, a fleet of boats for coastal transfers and concierge-arranged hikes and guides to explore quieter parts of the coast; overall the place feels more like a storied, private monument than a conventional hotel, and rooms are highly sought after."

This was our 2nd trip to Villa Tre Ville and oh my how the prices have gone up in 10 years! We split our stay with San Pietro because of this, which ended up being so fun to do both because they're very different, but still very much enjoyed our 10 year anniversary stay. ||What Villa Tre Ville does well is privacy. It is super quiet compared to Il San Pietro. The beach club upgrades they've made are amazing, and we would wait out the Positano day trip crowds at the beach club and then head into town in the evenings. The Caprese cake is out of this world and they kindly delivered it to our room when I had a craving for it. I also really loved the garden they have now. I had read mixed reviews on the food, but honestly everything was fabulous. You'd never believe this (and I almost felt bad ordering it in Italy) but the BURGER was the best burger I've had in my life. The service was also lovely. ||We did prefer the Downes suite to Nijinsky, which we stayed in this time. Nijinsky is beautiful, but just felt dark and more enclosed to me, even with the windows open. Despite us always saying this is our last trip, we plan to come back again!

Absolutely exceptional! The exquisite setting is unmatched but even more importantly, the attention to detail with excellent customer service is unparalleled. It is a very special place that deserves every accolade. Jessica and the team in the front desk, Rafaele and the crew in the morning breakfast, Captain Palermo on the boat tours, Chef Vincenzo with his phenomenal healthy cooking and very patient cooking class, Mai and her kind, relaxing massage, the lifeguard boating and housekeeping team, Johnny and the wait staff in the restaurant and bar, the gardeners and bellhops all went above and beyond. Thank you for an experience. We will never forget!

Loved our entire experience from start to finish. The hotel is beautiful, our villa was perfect, spacious and had the most incredible view! The food, the drinks, the grounds, the friendly staff and the customer service was all 10/10. Would 1000% return and recommend to anyone visiting Positano.

Room: 5/5 uniquely decorated rooms, all curated with beautiful decor and breath taking views. Some rooms have bit of a walk up stairs- would not recommend for handicappers, but we had no issues with this. The steps were worth the view! The entire hotel was the most stunning I’ve stayed in. Decorated beautifully and curated uniquely. Service: 5/5 due to small resort, very personalized experience. They even had a group chat which they responded to immediately. This included replacing the shampoo and body wash for my mother who has a severe gluten allergy. All employees extremely friendly and responsive and speak English fluently. Location: 5/5 10minute walk outside of the heart of Positano. Complementary boat service to the city center upon request. Perfect for the stunning views of Postitano while also having a quiet and relaxing ambiance and easy walk into the heart of the city. Cleanliness: 5/5 very clean, housekeeping came end of morning and for turn down. Constantly organizing and cleaning room. Common areas always spotless. Food: 5/5 delicious cuisine at Maestros. Including accommodating to allergy and off menu items. Breakfast had a beautiful spread as well as menu options. Value: 5/5 very expensive. A 5-star resort that is exceeds all expectations, but expect to pay the price for it. Overall Vibe: 5/5 noted above, breath taking views and all areas of the hotel provide a magical feel. Very photographic and scenic.

This is my favorite hotel on this coast. I really love it, even though it keeps getting more and more expensive. But honestly, it’s worth it. In fact, it could probably charge even more, and I’d still choose to stay here. The team changes quite a lot, which isn’t great for any hotel, but somehow they always manage to have a really good crew. Every time I come back, I feel happy I picked this place again.

We booked a last minute visit to Treville, just before they closed for the season. We were blessed with the most incredible weather, and as the hotel was quiet we were upgraded to the most extraordinary room, with a huge terrace looking over Positano.|I think this hotel is my favourite in Italy. Service is efficient, yet informal by the exceptionally charming team.|Food is delicious, and the wine list exhaustive.|Diving off the rocks into the clear sea is pure joy, and unexpected at the beginning of November!|I can’t wait to return.

Google
Definitely one of the most beautifully decorated hotels in Italy. But not very user friendly. After a first night in a very noisy room under the restaurant, I was upgraded to a gorgeous 2 bedroom suite with a private pool. Very kind of them, but surprised that a hotel of this level and expense doesn’t have a pool for all their clients. Only certain suites.|The food and service were adequate, but nothing special. The layout confusing.

Villa Treville is amazing, unique, fun, chic, one of a kind, beautiful, historic, and exclusive. We were lucky to get a few nights on the books. It is a small resort which allows for perfect and responsive customer service to all clients. They took care of all of our needs from transportation to reservations. There is also a private Treville boat shuttle service to take you to other cities or out to your yacht. The restaurant is fantastic. The chef is on site all day long. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The ambience is truly electic. I have truly never stayed anywhere quite like this. It’s a beautiful property. I did I mention the tunnels and elevators? Yep, have fun!

Yelp
I didn't stay at Villa Treville (though I wish I did). This review is for their restaurant, Maestro's and my visit to the grounds. This hotel is elegant, beautiful and is where I found the best views of Positano during my entire trip. There are several different terrace and patio areas where you can sit and take in the views. The restaurant is also on a large terrace that jets out into the water. There is seriously not a bad seat in the entire house. This is definitely a spendy place to have a meal, but because the property and views are so dazzling I'd say it's worth the splurge. Drink menus do not have prices, and an Aperol Spritz is 25 euro. It is very large (almost like drinking two) but we were for sure a bit sticker shocked after seeing the bill. Luckily it's hard to be mad about anything in such a gorgeous setting. Entree pricing is similar -- lunch pastas are around 20-25 euro, and there is also a selection of pizzas for around 15 euro. And for the price you get a perfect sized lunch portion. I ordered couscous with shrimp which had a generous amount of shrimp and veggies. My husband had spaghetti and clams and he enjoyed it. Our hotel was a bit off the beaten path, and we initially decided to visit because Maestro's was one of the closest food options. Seeing the breathtaking property and views was a very nice added bonus. I'm so happy we decided to eat here!

Yelp
Villa Treville is one of the most beautiful verandas in all of Positano. We did not stay in the Villa but did eat at the restaurant one evening. You have two ways to get to Villa Treville. One way, of course, is by road. The other way, and the way I highly suggest, is by boat. If you are going during daylight hours, call the hotel/restaurant and tell them you would like to take the boat from the main beach in Positano (the boat landing/pier is on the right side of the beach) over to the hotel. It is free. The views are spectacular as you take the short five-minute boat ride from the beach over to the landing of Villa Treville. Even if you have a reservation after dark, I would suggest you leave early enough that you can take the boat from the beach to Villa Treville. My one regret is we did not allow enough time to explore the grounds of the hotel prior to our dinner reservation. There are many beautiful pictures available on Instagram that show the various areas and grounds. It is a beautiful location and I would highly suggest you take the time to explore it before you eat dinner. We did arrive early enough that we were able to sit on the veranda and have before dinner drinks. You are high enough on the side of the mountain that you were overlooking the main beach and town of Positano. Stunning views to say the least. The restaurant at Villa Treville overlooks Positano. The views from the restaurant are gorgeous. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. This was the place to do it. It has spectacular views and a romantic setting. The restaurant itself was very good but be warned dinner can be very pricey. You can easily spend €200 on dinner. The wine can also be very expensive and substantially add to the €200. With that being said, every morsel of appetizer, entree, and dessert that we consumed on this evening was delicious. Villa Treville is a popular place for celebrities as well. You never know who you may see dining or staying at the Villa. Coincidentally, at the table directly behind us was Hugh Grant and Anna Eberstein. Thankfully, Hugh and Anna allowed us to eat our dinner in peace and did not ask for our autographs. After dinner, the front desk called us a cab which was able to take us by road back to our hotel. It was easily a 15 minute ride around a very winding road to get back to our hotel (Hotel Posa Posa). It was way too far to attempt to walk, especially after dark and a bottle of wine. You can see our photos from our trip by looking up #30mooreyears(ItalianFlagEmoji) on Instagram (make sure you include the Italian flag emoji on the end of that hashtag. Yelp doesn't allow an emoji in their reviews). Bottom line - A short boat ride from the main beach of Positano. Breathtaking views from the veranda and restaurant. Delicious food and a great wine list. A very romantic dinner. I highly recommend Villa Treville. Bon appétit.

Yelp
Food, view and staff was amazing! Started with beef tartare, then risotto and ravioli. It's a little pricey but the experience overall was worth it.

Yelp
The beauty of this place is unreal. Heaven on earth. I found this hotel online a couple years ago, and have been wanting to visit since. Particularly the Bianca Bar and Maestros Restaurant. We arrived by boat, which was fun, they had the skipper come meet us on the dock to welcome us and bring us up to a terrace to wait for our dinner reservation. We ordered some drinks and enjoyed the views. I walked a bit, and came across the beautiful Bianca Bar. It was like a dream come true. At that point someone stopped me, and redirected me to the restrooms, which I was trying to find. When I came out, restaurant management was there to escort me back. I asked if I could take a picture of the Bianca Bar, and she said no. I was escorted back to the Terrace, feeling like I had just been in trouble. Apparently it is for guests only. Although there was no one there, and we were probably 15 feet away from the gorgeous couches and views. The dinner was lovely, but there was a guest renting the main suite directly below the patio seating, blasting obscene hip hop. It was vulgar, offensive, with mention of all the inappropriate things you don't want to hear while dining at the most beautiful place you've been waiting to visit for years. We finally asked the waiter if there was anything they could do, but he said no, because that guest is renting the most expensive suite. We had to sit there, mortified, listening to loud hip hop, while trying to enjoy the restaurant we paid to experience. It was disappointing. I still think the views are heavenly, but I must say my experience was not what I wanted.

Yelp
Recently converted from a private villa into a beautiful boutique hotel. There are only 15 rooms which gives it a B&B feel. Since it's only a few years old everything is up to date, though the decor pays homage to the history of the building and area. The restaurant on site provides a good breakfast (included) and dinner (not included) service. There are a number of quiet spots to relax, sun bathe, and swim. To get to Positano from the hotel is easy during the day (they have a free water taxi service), but at night you rely on independent water taxi providers (10 EUR per head), which can be hard to track down. The staff is excellent, everyone greets you when they see you and they are extremely accommodating. I'd definitely stay there again.

Yelp
The classier beach club along the Positano coast. For just a little more then the other clubs (50p.p) you get comfortable front row loungers with towels, a bottle of Prosecco and unlimited lemon water. The facilities are beautiful and well maintained. Our day here was awesome, pickup and drop off were on time and seamless. Wait service (Vita) was great and kept us loaded with water. We ate at the restaurant and we were blown away, the food was delicious and the service was first class and totally affordable, no different then a beach lunch anywhere else in Positano.

Yelp
This was an old residential villa that was converted into a villa where you can stay, and also have dinner. It's absolutely stunning and the food was delicious! You taste the freshness of the pasta. It's a little pricey but you have to expect that too. Would come again !
