I couldn’t understand why UNESCO included Villa Tugendhat on its protection list. I read that it represents the early features of modern architecture. The garden is nice, but I’ve seen much more beautiful ones in other places I’ve visited. The villa is surrounded by glass, maybe it has the distinction of being the first of its kind. It could also be because it hosted many historical meetings, including the agreement for the separation of Czechoslovakia. However, I don’t think it’s under UNESCO protection just because it's a glass-walled villa. Perhaps UNESCO should protect all of Europe, as every street in Europe is historical, and nearly every building has a painting or sculpture on it.

a true architectural masterpiece. also recommended the beautiful film The Glass Room, a fiction and exciting version of the story of the wonderful Villa Tugendhat

When I visited the waiting list for the house itself was months long. However, the non-waiting list tour was interesting and enthusiastically delivered with almost no real need to enter the excluded areas which were clearly visible through the window.

Beautiful. Soo timeless. The garden is not the nicest I've ever seen but its ok for English type of park walk. Main point is the villa anyway. We did not go for a tour as you need to book in advance . Few months 😮

You have to pay 300 czk to take photos so make sure you take as many as you can. The vila itself is so pretty, I want to live there but unfortunately I live in the economy where I cannot afford a house. I like thos zebra wooden closets and the garden is really dreamy.

Must see marvel of functionalism in Brno. It’s great that the house and surrounding parks are open to public. And if you don’t manage to get tickets - just walk in the garden for free.

**Review: Villa Tugendhat, Brno - A Bauhaus Marvel** Visiting Villa Tugendhat in Brno was an unforgettable experience. This Bauhaus gem is a must-see for anyone in the city. I explored it with a friend from Poland, an expert in Bauhaus architecture, who shared fascinating insights about its design and history. Designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, the villa's open spaces, large glass windows, and minimalist elegance are breathtaking. The onyx wall in the living room, which changes color with the light, was a particular highlight. The guided tour provided rich details about the villa and the Tugendhat family. It’s incredibly well-preserved, offering a true glimpse into Bauhaus innovation. If you’re in Brno, don’t miss this architectural marvel. It’s an inspiring and awe-inspiring visit.

It was really a great experience to see the Villa Tugendhat. At 100 years old the design and technical solutions are still amazing and superior to many modern buildings. It survived Nazi occupation and looting, the Soviets using it for stables (because why not) and communist mismanagement and it still beautiful today. The architect Ludwig Mies really created a gem here

Yelp
Wowza! If you are near Brno...you have to check out this house! You need to reserve your tickets beforehand (like months), which we did not know, otherwise you only get to look at the house from the outside. We just walked around and were glad we did. Such a cool house with great architecture and style. I wish we had known the proper way to plan because I'm sure the inside would have been well worth it! The gift shop on the back side of the ground level is worth the stop in. Reasonably priced souvenirs/information to take with you as a memory. I would love to see this next time I visit. The neighborhood surrounding the property is really pretty with lots of great houses to see on your drive in and out too.

Yelp
What a special place to visit in Brno. If you want to experience a tour, it's highly encouraged that you reserve at least 1-2 months in advance. Tours are between 8-10 people per hour, it sucks cause it makes it difficult to get a reservation but at the same time it's awesome cause you get a very small and private your where you can access every room and corner of the house. What is Vila Tugendhat? It's Mies Van Der Rohe's European masterpiece built in 1929 for the Tugendhat family, who appreciated modern architecture.

Yelp
An architectural masterpiece that unfortunately is manged by such a dismissive management. Only garden tours are available (with tickets ordered through mostly unfriendly, grumpy staff), and visits needs to be made three months in advance (despite of not seeing such a crowd over tours).

Yelp
Unforgettable experience, architecture, art, design, history. I definitely recommend both professional and amateur visitors.

Yelp
I was able to make a reservation less than a month before my visit by begging via email. Otherwise it is recommended to make reservations at least two months in advance and the others there when I was agreed with me about this. The tour was in English which was a boon to me, I speak no Czech at all. The price for the tour is very reasonable as almost everything in Brno has been. The house is incredible, words can't describe how amazing it is. The spaces, the views, make you want to live there. However, it is clearly not lived in, not one bit of clutter at all. But the mechanics of the house make you long to have a house like it. The windows, the air conditioning, the beauty of it all, makes you want it all. They have done a beautiful job with the renovation, replicating the furniture and wall coverings so well. The staff is very good, helpful and knowledgeable. This alone is worth a trip to Brno, a place I hadn't heard until recently and didn't think to visit till I got this chance. People are very pleasant and accepting of our language deficit. I would give this site ten stars if I could.
