Looking for that authentic Austrian bier keller experience this is it. No pretensions or gimmicks just genuine local brewer's beer and lots of local cuisine. Their own Dunkel (dark brown) brew was to die for, especially as a british real ale aficionado. Both malty and hoppy.
As well as the classic bratwurst or 'real' frankfurter with lashings of kartofelen and sauerkraut there were several hearty dishes or very authentic home made soups. Even have a children's menu and there were fmiles enjoying an evening meal.

I had a quick break in this place and it was a great choice. I only had a coffee and kaiserschmarrn, and it was such a perfect kaiserschmarrn for me 😍
The service was extremely nice and quick. I would love to come again!

Nice waitress. Quick service.
White sausages in clear soup. Bit weird with mustard and pretzel. Kaiser dessert ok. Had nicer before. Would not reorder either.
The pig knuckle was amazing.
Villacher beer was nice from draft. We paid almost 50eur altogether.

Very good Austrian restaurant. Delicious cuisine - especially cordon bleu. Good beer and lemonade produced by local brewery Villacher, which is located right behind the restaurant.
Nice service.
Very cozy courtyard, which is located in the shade of the trees at the backyard of the church of St. Nicholas. Great place for lunch after a walk around the city.

Our waiter was rude and rushy during our dinner there.
Also, when ordering drinks, I asked for a glass of tap water but he said they only had mineral water. I accepted that, and then he brought a bottle of mineral water but the cap was open, so I assume they just filled up the bottle with tap water and charged me mineral water price…

If you are near Villach, want something typical Austrian, like to drink good beer: look no further. The staff is fast, food is of a very good quality. Perfect

It was the second but last time I have visited the place. Came here with five more guests. Alltogether we were six person. Noone cared about us, noone welcomed us. The waiters just ignored us. We waited 10 minutes the just sit to a table. Another 10 minutes passed when a waiter came and said more than half of the menu is unavailable. Everyone around us ate from the other half of the menu. We have left immidiately. Horrible experience so to say.

The service was exceptional. Ambience is great too. Reason for deducting a star is the food. It could be improved.

Yelp
Staying in Villach for 2 nights, we tried to come here on the 1st night but arrived to town too late due to a missed flight. The restaurant was closed when we stopped by around 10 p.m. on a Thurs night. I don't know why this surprised me since I thought it would be open later during the summer.
We came back on Friday night and it was packed. It was a little confusing to figure out how we get seated....did we ask to be seated or just sit down when a table opened up? It seemed to be the 2nd option but is awkward when multiple groups are standing and waiting.
Once we were seated (outside), I ordered the schnitzel with potatoes. As pics show, the portion is large so I couldn't eat all of it. It was good though.
Service was a little odd and unfriendly but our food came out promptly. The menu had English subsections which was helpful.
The overall vibe of the place was nice and I enjoyed the experience.

Yelp
I (an American) wanted some real Austrian food during my visit and found this place delightful. Great FAST service (dish came out in about 5 minutes after ordering) and a delicious flavorful beef goulash with "dumplings". Great job everyone!

Yelp
When you are in Villach and want food or beer this is a fantastic option. There are multiple rooms and bars and the service is pretty good. If you are English speaking they have employees that speak English as well as menus in English. I had the Goulash and it was wonderful, the flavors and spices were just right. The bowl was filling and a good price. I had a pint of the Villacher Marzen and the Villacher Zwickl. Both were good but the Zwickl was my favorite. It was unique, refreshing and great tasting.

Yelp
This place is a great option for groups. The service is great, and the food is good. My venison ragout was excellent! My one gripe is that I guess I wish they had a better beer selection; I love beer, but I'm not a huge fan of Villacher. But on the upside-- it is super fresh! That is just my personal preference; the rest of my group stuck to pilsners and seemed pretty satisfied.

Yelp
We were in Slovenia headed towards Italy when my wife decided she wanted to eat lunch in Austria. We found this place very enjoyable. The food was great.
We had the Riesenwienerschnitzel with French fries. Best schnitzel I have ever had to date. Wife had the goulash which had a fantastic flavor and good portion. Little kid had a cup of the House soup that she thoroughly enjoyed. The pretzel with white radish and butter was out of this world.
This is must if you're passing by.

Yelp
We went here in a huge group (over 120), we were set up in the basement section of brewery with your classic long wooden brew house tables. They set up the food buffet style for us and had the beers flowing. Beer was great and the food was on point for being a buffet.
Left cross eyed and with a full belly. Couldn't complain

Yelp
So Villach brew their own beer. That's pretty cool in my books. What's even cooler is that attached to the brewery is this restaurant where you can not only taste their selection of beers but also enjoy many local dishes which are available for order here. The food here is really tasty and the prices are fantastically good value. The interior of this place could do with a revamp, but otherwise make sure you visit this place in summer and sit outside in the beer garden under the beautiful trees. Sun, good food, great beer. Nothing left to say.

Yelp
This was a neat place with a decent beer garden. Nice selection of beers, which by tradition I am required to try all of them. I would say if you are in Villach this is the place to go. VIllach itself is just kinda there. The charming parts were 85% destroyed in WWII so you get some faux depth. This is fairly close to the hotels and I gotta say the food and beers were particularly good. They are known for goulash and it is a nice deep peppery tasting flavor. They are kind if you want to practice your Osterich as well. We stopped in Villach on the way to Venice.
