Love the coffee here—seriously, it’s great. But if you’re in a rush, this might not be your best bet. The speed of service is… let’s say, delightfully unhurried. It’s like they’re handcrafting each cup with the care of an ancient artisan, which is charming—unless you have somewhere to be. This isn’t my first slow experience here, so I’m starting to think it’s just part of the vibe. If you’re looking to sip and stay, it’s wonderful. If you’re looking to grab and go, well… let’s just say you should factor in some extra time. Or bring a book. Or maybe start writing one while you wait. Would I come back? Absolutely. But only when I’m in the mood for a leisurely coffee break, not when I need a caffeine fix on the fly! This keeps it constructive, a bit playful, and still emphasizes the issue without being overly negative. Hope it works for you! Let me know if you want any tweaks.

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with the service at the Village bakery & cafè. The staff on place was not careful enough and served me food containing soy despite I had specifically asked for soy free due to a food allergy. On top of this, the server forgot part of the order – we waited a long time until we eventually placed the order again to get what we had already paid for.

I was cautiously optimistic about getting breakfast here, and while my family didn't like it, I was not on the same line as them. This place is refreshingly basic. There isn't a whole lot going on, taste wise, just the simplistic flavors expected with the items served with them. Now this isn't to say their food is bland, I would say, back to basics. Instead of using sugar with their oats, it was maple syrup and on the side were nuts, fruits and not a pinch of salt that I could taste. This is just a taste of what you can expect. Don't expect to have a whirlwind of flavors, I think they did it right, leaving it simple. The 3 stars is for the outrageous cost and markup on these basic dishes. I don't think I will return, when these are so basic a dish that a child could make them. Still, was refreshing. I'm at a toss up. I give them a 3.5.

An Athens gem. Delicious baked goods, sandwiches, etc plus art, crafts, wine, cheese and more for sale .... all locally produced and served by people making a living wage. A community hub. And a good place to shop for local treats/souvenirs. We came back a second time for breakfast. Excellent!!!!

My lunch was exceptional! I had The Caprini sandwich. Because the food is cooked to order, be prepared to wait, but it is so worth it!

I am not sure what happened but the service has changed recently. Multiple times in a row simple orders get mixed up and then a specific employee is outright rude towards customers. When it happened the first time I figured we all get to have bad days. Yet I have seen this response from her towards multiple people three times now. For the price I don't want to also have to tip toe around an agree worker.

A great community bakery with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. I love the Village Bakery and will always give them 5 stars. They have been a go-to breakfast place for years, as I have grown up in Athens. However, in the past couple of years they have changed the way they made their breakfast sandwiches. They used to be so good, definitely a favorite. Now the eggs are chewy and sad. I wish they would go back to their old recipe! But until then, I’ll just get the quiche which is also delicious!

Super cute, great service, really delicious coffee. Unique locally made gifts such as cards, journals, and tees. Cute spaces to sit outside and inside.
