Overall the stay at the Village Green was very good but I have to knock points off in the fact they need to CLEAN THE ROOMS DAILY. Nothing annoys me more than a place that does not clean the rooms each night of the stay. If you are not going to do it please let the guest know. I could have used a new hand towel and it would have been a nice touch to make the bed.||||The nice part of the stay was the location of the B & B is excellent. It is right on the Village Green of Woodstock. You could either get the room facing the Green (too lite and noisy during the holidays) or the Brook Room where I was that was quiet and very nice. Larry is a great guy. The first day I was there he was showing me his art work, which is very talented in his medal work and his marble balance mesh structures which are like a maze. Very clever work. We had a drink together, which was nice after a long trip and talked for about a half hour on the art world. He is a very nice guy. He also gave me the room at the regular rate, which I thought was very classy of him and kind of him to do.||||The Brook Room is not fancy but it is not one those over the top Victorian Frilly things that I hate. It was more like staying at an old friends house and they were lending you the room. It was a very mellow two days and I got to see the Christmas tree in the evenings and the green every morning which was nice. The breakfasts were very standard. Grocery store pastries and doughnuts, boxed cereals, pop tarts, fruit and yogurt, all of which was very nice and a good selection but very standard. There was plenty of it and Larry kept it out at all times.||||I thought it was a little negligent to keep coffee on a burner for most of the day. On Christmas morning, the coffee put was on the burner for most of the morning and early afternoon with no one checking on it. I was going to turn it off but did not know if there was a patron in the other room who still might want it. Also, I had to do my own dishes and put things away, which I had never experienced in a B & B. Someone finally came around three to clean up the rest of the breakfast stuff and put it away. The next morning there was more baked goods and coffee again. It was nice to serve yourself and you don't see the owners that much which I didn't need to have a nice stay. You really are on your own here.||||Again, the Village Green is like staying at a old friends house where you are on your own to come and go as you please and eat when you please. This is nice for some people but I was not staying at a friends house. If you like a hands-off on your own experience, this is the best place for you. If you want an engaging environment with more gourmet food and a cleaned room, then I suggest you stay someplace else. Again it was a nice stay in a comfortable home with a nice view, its just not the B & B experience that I thought I was going to have on this trip. Good but could have been a little better.
