Village Hearth is a really adorable bakery and cafe that also serves wood-fired pizza every Sunday night. This special must be really popular, because there was already a huge line right when they reopened for dinner at 4:30pm! It seems like everyone in Jamestown comes out to get some freshly made pizza--either to take out or to enjoy on the patio with some BYOB wine!
There were two pizza options, margherita (tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil) and a special with sausage and caramelized onion. You can check their website to see what special they are offering this week. The margherita pizza was delicious! It's a pretty thin, crispy crust, which I enjoy, but you might want to order a little bit more pizza than your family normally eats. They use a blend of mozzarella and cheddar cheese, which is not super traditional but gives a nice balance of creaminess and saltiness.
I also tried a seasonal salad with beets, goat cheese, walnuts, and vinaigrette (~$8). Such a good combination! It seems like they get some of their vegetables and eggs from the farm nearby, Windmist Farm.
The people that work here are so nice. Our pizza had a small hole in the crust, so the owner gave us a free loaf of fresh bread! We wouldn't have been bothered by the hole at all, but the bread was super tasty!
I would definitely come here again for pizza night or to pick up a loaf of bread. I didn't get to try their coffee or pastries, but maybe another time!
