What a huge difference in this restaurant. In the past, the service was terrible, the food was not that good and they had a hard time keeping employees. Now, I consider this the best restaurant. I was really impressed with the service as soon as we walked in. We ordered our food and received it very quickly. It was very tasty. The waiter was fantastic serviced us with a smile and upbeat personality. He answered all our questions and acted like a professional. I met the manager and told her that my wife and I were very impressed. Keep it up 👍, we definitely will be back.

I stopped by for breakfast today because I happened to be in the neighborhood. I was greeted promptly and courteously seated and was given menus. The server came out quickly and asked my drink preference. A short time later he came back with my water and by that time I was ready to order. I ordered corned beef hash eggs over easy with the three pancakes side. The food came out in a reasonably decent amount of time. Now for the food, the portion size was decent for the hash the hash browns looked like a decent amount and the pancakes looked pretty good. The potatoes were uncooked, the top pancake was burnt on the bottom making the pancakes taste like burnt pancakes. Leaving the dark on aside the other two weren’t bad. The over easy eggs were more like hard yolk eggs on the bottom of the eggs, so that is one more reason not to eat hire. So as far as a decent breakfast is concerned, for $15+ for a meal that had uncooked potatoes (how do you do that?) a burnt pancake I will have to pick another place for my breakfast going forward. Now for the service, I only had water with my meal which turned out to be e a good thing, I literally had to get up and find my server who was in the back and ask for more water. The only time I saw him was when I ordered, when he dropped off my food and when I had to find him for a refill. For sure I’ll find another breakfast spot. I’m not in the habit of leaving low ratings on my reviews, but, the food and service left a lot to be desired. The only reason that I didn’t leave a one star review was because of the portion size. Ratings are dependent upon the entire experience and I was sorely disappointed.

Google
My son and I stopped here on our way home. We were quickly seated and attended to. We ordered our food and the waitress was very friendly and humorous. Our food was quickly prepared and served to us. It looked and tasted hot, fresh, and delicious! The waitress took care to check on us several times, so we were very impressed with the service and will return soon. Thank you!

Google
Kamille did so awesome! We had 13 people come in & she had everything right, everything came out fast & hot & she was very pleasant & sweet! We have been coming here for over a decade so I don't know why I have not posted a review lol.. but we love this location & love VI!! 🧡

Google
Pie was subpar, service was phenomenal. They forgot I wanted my eggs poached, but it was still delicious with good portion sizes. I'm disappointed prices have gone up, but that's inflation, for you.

Google
Came in waited like 10 minutes while we watched two servers look at us and roll there eyes and continuously walked past the opening to the kitchen to see if we were still there and then a snarky server holding her stomach came out and under her breath was like fine I’ll get this table. You could tell no one wanted to be there or work so we just bought a whole pie and left because if that was there attitude just sitting someone at a table why would I want them making my food? Hard no. A blonde lady asked why we weren’t eating food and I just laughed like it wasn’t obvious. Terrible attitudes.

Google
I have to say, we had a really nice breakfast. Lorenzo M was courteous and attentive. Our food was all cooked to our specific requests. We all had breakfast items. The food came out hot and in a good, timely manner. It all tasted good. It was all a pleasant surprise! We hadn't been in a long while and was just rolling the dice.

Yelp
As far as breakfast spots go, you really can't go wrong with Village Inn. I was here on Easter this year, and it wasn't super crowded, and the food was yummy. On an entirely different note, when it comes to pies, they are my go to. They're delicious and not super expensive. I'm always a big hit at Thanksgiving, and I owe it all to Village Inn.

Grizz L.

Yelp
always amazing! we've been coming here for years and have ever been disappointed. Jennica Is awesome and incredibly friendly, and lorrie always makes us feel welcome. Always have great convos with both of them! Food is always good, get the same thing every time and the environment is always what I need for a chill morning start.

Yelp
Cassie is a great waitress Great personality Awesome smile Very friendly In fact all your staff at this location is great Very professional And friendly Its are option that all your staff at this location are valuable assets to your business

Yelp
Good food but don't be in a hurry when you dine here. They are understaffed and have been for quite some time. Went for breakfast today just after 10 am, wasn't busy by any other restaurant standards but tools almost 2 hours to get our meals and checked out. Staff was very friendly and accommodating to my special requests, so in spite of the extremely slow service, I tipped them well. Portions on chicken fried steak are much smaller than anywhere else I've had it, but the flavors were all good. First time I've eaten here in years, but I'll go back again when I'm in no hurry.

Yelp
We went to Village Inn today only because it is where my daughter wanted to go for her 9th birthday. Upon arriving I let the hostess know that, she informed me that our order should include a free piece of pie. The service was super slow but I was also indecisive so it wasn't a big deal. We did though have to go to the car to get our own coloring devices for the children's menu. we ordered a kids French toast with the extra special Strawberry banana topping. I ordered the Spinach omelet. I also asked to try the gravy to decide if I also wanted biscuits and gravy. After our food arrived and was nearly gone we got the taste of gravy and topping for the French toast. I ordered a birthday slice of pie which came with a 8 inch blonde hair along with adding 3.50 to my bill. I don't eat at Village Inn because I have had issues in the past when I had a complaint about something so I don't feel comfortable letting them know my experience. I don't think I will be going back again unless it is another birthday request. Oddly enough the food is what brought the rating up to 2... It was decent.

Becky S.

Yelp
Waitress (long blonde hair) asked us three times in apx two minutes if we were ready to order, I needed a minute as I'd never been there before so asked for a minute. She brought my coffee when it was done, dropped it and left. She never came back, even after we flagged her down and saying she'd be there in a minute. We were there for over a half hour and never got to order food. We got up and left, the host did not make us pay for our coffee so that is the one star. Won't go back. She was also loudly rude to coworkers in the restaurant area. Very uncalled for, ruined the atmosphere as well.

Yelp
The food, service and the ambiance was great I really enjoyed everything about this place highly recommend

Yelp
Rio Grande's skillet with substitution of crepes over pancakes is a fantastic choice if you want to try something new. Their chile verde is delicious. Favorite breakfast or brunch overall. Go on a Wednesday and get free pie!

Crystal H.

Yelp
Jennica was a wonderful waitress, the epitome of how customer service should be. Her kindness, positivity, & attention to all of her tables & guests was perhaps the BEST dining service we've had in a long time. Bless her heart!

Yelp
I'm not a huge fan of take out. I usually opt for dining in when picking a restaurant, but when I decided Village Inn time was of the essence because I had my nephew's. I substituted a side of pankakes for crepes and they still gave me pancakes while charging me for the crepes. Then the chicken was fried pretty long and was super crispy but tasted fine otherwise. It didn't look as good as when you dine in, nevertheless is was tasty. Nephew's didn't complain besides the chicken so it must've been alright. They did however give me plenty of condiments and it was definitely appreciated because we used it entirely. All things considered, I rated 3 stars. I'll probably still come back, but maybe to another location. I understand businesses are short staffed and consider this whenever I eat out so keep that in mind if you do take out here. Cheers!

Jose R.

Yelp
As soon as you walk in, it smells gross. You walk in and notice how everything looks old and old fashioned. It smells like they use the same rag to clean the whole place it's awful. The staff looks like they hate their job and are just waiting for clock out time. I guess that's why every time we pass the parking lot it's always empty. The food was alright not the best but it worked. I would not recommend this place at all, and they serve you and right away give you your check.

Marc D.

Yelp
Our server Jennica was absolutely incredible. I would recommend asking for her if you decide to dine here.

Yelp
We placed a pick up order for biscuits & gravy meal & chicken fried steak meal. There did not provide any gravy. We called them & they told us we could come back & get it. We paid DoorDash to pick it up for us, so going back to get it wasn't an option. The lady then hung up on us. I'm basing this review off of their customer service. We will never order or go there again.

Yelp
When breakfast is what you are seeking, you know how difficult it is to find a decent place. Well here's my pick for best family chains for breakfast in the salt Lake Valley. I have tried them all. I have repeatedly gone back to those other places in Desperation, disappointed every time. but no more. I've actually found a place where I enjoyed my meal and the service. I struggle with 3 stars, yet saying it's a favorite. But i just can't give it 4, but as far as breakfasts goes, it's my go to place. And it definitely stands out above the breakfast competition. I will be back and I will look forward to it...

Yelp
Best double cheeseburger with bacon and onion rings I will definitely be eating here more often and the managers are very nice good customer service keep up the good work guys ..

Yelp
Bad service, we got our food before we got our drinks, but the food came out cold they completely ignored us thee entire time

Yelp
I was blown away at the service at this village inn. It was a Saturday morning and our power went out. We don't normally eat out on Saturday mornings, but the fates had chosen for us. We were instantly met with kindness, attentiveness and a knowledgeable waitress. I really had no expectations, but I was so pleased that I now consider this village inn pretty much weekly. For quality, selection and ease of ordering, i would highly recommend. I've read some of the previous reviews and it's astounding what people constitute as a 1 star. Expired coupons? I'm sorry that sounds like a you problem. Possibly they had issues and they've gotten better. If you've been spurned, I recommend giving them another try.

Shawn K.

Yelp
Very poor waitress rude to other staff. Food was not good chicken fried steak was way over cooked looked freezer burnt. The first order of hash browns was burnt. Second set of hash browns was cold

Yelp
So, every place--whether it is generic or unique--has a certain "special" dish that makes it worth going to. The Garden Skillet at Village Inn is that dish. Besides their Free Pie Wednesdays, this breakfast/brunch meal is one of those damn good breakfast foods that makes it worth going to Village Inn. Most of their dishes here are so-so to me, but this one has become one of my favorites after a recommendation of a friend. What this dish includes are a variety of vegetables such as broccoli, potatoes, onions, etc. with a good amount of shredded cheddar and white cheese and an egg styled the way you want it to be on top. As an added bonus, you get your choice of either toast or pancakes. Wonderful with a price under $10! It is simple sounding, but done so right that it is worth coming back to. Recommendation(s): The Garden Skillet on a Wednesday for the free pie.

Jerry S.

Yelp
Normally, this location has been good to us, and we tip generously, understanding that these people are understaffed, that being said, today we had a different experience, not too busy, food was good, a little slow, and it's free pie Wednesday! Wait.... I guess not, at least not for us. Twice now we have been sitting, waiting, and waiting, and then the ticket comes, the server says thanks for coming and runs off before we can say anything, so we wait some more, no server, I wouldn't care but I had my grandkids with me and they wanted this place today for the pie, so although I always tip, not today. This isn't the norm for this establishment, and we will return, maybe....
google avatar

Susie E.

Yelp
The free pie is a lie. Not only was the cherry pie not good but the waitress also didn't let us know it wouldn't be free with our coupon even though it doesn't say that the free pie from 10am to whatever is voided if we had a coupon. I just left the doctor so I wasn't in the mood to argue about it. Had I known it wasn't free I would have gotten the pie I actually wanted vs the one on the free menu which is my true disappointment.

Yelp
All I have to say is with poor management comes poor service, and this restaurant demonstrates THE worst management I ever experienced, I reviewed a few months ago, said some nice things, in hopes that things would improve, I have been to this location several times, and only had written a review once before. But doing the same thing over and over, and expected a different result is the definition of insanity

Randy R.

Yelp
Went here tonight.newer village inn. very new looking building and decor. in the old shopko parking lot kinda hidden always seems like its empty when you drive by.i used to goto downtown salt lake old village inn until covid and the protestors and looters.and the nasty manager there cheryl? sherry? lisa is great but the other lady is rude and nasty. anyway i go in waitress upset i wanted a table.asked for oj...nope were out...asked for cranberry...nope dont carry...yes they do its on menu server later admitted she had no idea they did or where it was.....hello where is the training? coffee was cold.chicken noodle was 95 percent water ...maybe some veggies n noodles? green beans cold, pot roast cold wanted meatloaf but was discontinued by corporate........server was ok need better/retrained/new cooks pretty poor in food service maybe transfer a mgr from another branch?

Deana F.

Yelp
Not very happy with my service at Village inn this evening. I ordered the VIB and one of my items was fruit, from looking at the photo, I got a crappy portion size. This restaurant isn't very busy so you would think their customer service would be stellar.
google avatar

Yelp
Went on Christmas Eve. It had definitely been a rough day for them- they had two staff walk out during their shift. The manager, Damian, was helping wait tables. It took a long time to get seated but once we got our table, it was worth the wait. The manager served us and he was STELLAR. For what I'm sure was one of the worst days he has had, he was exceptionally amazing and mellow. We were well taken care of.

Yelp
It's village inn.. What more do you want me to write? Oh I know! The screaming waitress! First off- being a waitress sucks.. Well dont complain. Our waitress sat down at the table next to us and started a rant to her friend about how she can't afford rent bc people don't tip her well. She said it so loud that I feel like she wanted us to hear so we know to tip her well. She constantly talked down about other customers and how bad people are at tipping.. Wow it was embarrassing and I felt uncomfortable. The waiter then proceeded to talk about how her and her boyfriend won't be able to afford rent this month bc " people tip poorly." The rant continued and she then said that the rich should be paying her bills bc they can afford it. I felt embarrassed for her. The good- Club sandwich- they will add avocado free of charge which is surprising. The meat ratio to veggies it good too. Patty melt- my fave here. I ALWAYS ask for extra grilled onions on the SIDE and you should too bc they do not put a lot of onions in my melt. If you don't like onions then you don't have a problem. I love onions so more is better. Breakfast items such as pancakes are okay. I've had better but as a chain restaurant they do their best. Pie pie pie! Wednesday's are free pie day but don't let them fool you. " free pie" doesn't mean you get to choose whatever you want from the menu.. You are limited to the fruit pies which are Apple, strawberry and peach. You CANNOT choose the special pies like the cream pies, turtle pies and key lime. The pricing is cheap so if you want cheap eats that'll fill you up then come to village inn!

Yelp
We were out and about today and stopped by Village Inn our in West Valley. Great customer service and amazing portions of food for the price we paid. So very impressed with this locations attention to detail. I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
It's a Wednesday and you get a free pie with purchase of your food. Our food come out pretty quick and great. The menu has a variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For a family of 3 we only spent 35 bucks. Great for a night if you didn't want to cook for a night.

Yunxi Z.

Yelp
Is it really American food? No. It's European food. Nothing good about this restaurant. The food and waiters were terrible. Waste of money and time coming here.
google avatar

Tina S.

Yelp
The food is good, but if you are going to eat here, I highly recommend not doing to-go because your food will be cold by the time you get it where you are going. The flavor is good but it does not hold up. I do not like that they use plastic containers to go, especially for their toast items because it gathers condensation and causes the toast to be soggy. I highly suggest eating in. Our waitress was extremely polite and didn't mind that half our party was an hour late, she let us sit and wait for our other guests and was very nice about us getting refills.

Randolph L.

Yelp
To start the celebrity salad was good. But... they were out of eggs, so I got more turkey in place of the eggs. Turned into more of a turkey salad. Price was good, and I couldn't finish the entire salad. I wanted pie since they advertise themselves as the best pie place in the country. So, they were out of all but one cream pie, so I asked for a pie menu since pie was not listed in the regular menu. But... the hostess seemed reluctant to give me one and I never did see one. I saw some pies but never knew what kind they were. I finally found a list of the pies while waiting for the salad. I would have bought a piece of cherry or strawberry rhubarb. But I gave up and saved the money. Strange!! It was Saturday which seems to be a very quiet day in SLC. Maybe that is why the hostess did not really want to do much, like help me buy a piece or two of pie.
google avatar

Bart R.

Yelp
The service was great but the food was horrible.. I don't think I'll be going back. I've always had good luck at other village inns
google avatar

Kathryn M.

Yelp
Cassie is a great employee ! Fast, friendly, and efficient. The kitchen service is also great very impressed and happy with the service(:
google avatar

Liz J.

Yelp
We use to be regulars 2-3 times a week. We had favorite servers & when they left we kept going. The service got worse and worse, and we finally quit going. It's been over a year and we decided to give it a try again. BAD DECISION that will not be repeated!!!!!! Table was still dirty from previous diner, waitresses were in the back screaming and arguing with each other to the point I though a fist fight was going to happen. The final straw was seeing multiple servers with their long hair in pony tails and braids but hanging down at food level reaching across people's plates with their hair in the food. YUCK!!!! I'm sorry, but if your hair is past your mid-back it should be secured in a manor that doesn't allow it to get in people's food. We won't be back!!!!
google avatar

Chad S.

Yelp
I usually enjoy going to VI but I can't recommend this location. After being seated I had to go ask the hostess to find me a wait staffer after seeing nobody for 8 minutes today. Unfortunately this seems to be the norm on my last 3 visits.
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
We often come to this village inn. We are always welcomed by friendly staff. The restaurant is clean and the food is yummy and fairly priced.
google avatar

Brooke S.

Yelp
We had a surprisingly good experience at this Village Inn! We were a party of 7. Service was prompt! And the food was fantastic! For Village Inn standards, anyway... I ordered the strawberry banana French toast. It was so delectable! The portion size was huge. My husband finished my order, and I practically had to pry the plate out of his hands, so that he couldn't lick it clean. My husband doesn't usually like French toast, but at village inn he loved it! We all are our fill, & the final bill came to approx $50, for 7 people! I was impressed!
google avatar

Kelly M.

Yelp
Stood there for 5 minutes and was never acknowledged. Only 4 customers in whole place. Completely unacceptable. Wish help had negative stars.
google avatar

Jeremy S.

Yelp
I always try to visit a place when I have an opportunity to try their trademarks. For Village Inn it's free pie Wednesday. Unfortunately I missed it by one day. I have to say I wasn't impressed by the service here. There were at most 20 people in the whole restaurant but I only ever saw 1 waitress serving all the tables. This meant we spent long periods of time between her visits to the table. It took 20 minutes for her to even get over to take our order, though our drinks came out fast enough. I ordered the fish and chips which didn't help the experience. There was so much oil on the fish that there was an entire layer of fried oil over the already fried fish. The meat inside was generally dry and tasteless.

Nancy M.

Yelp
Terrible service from the start! My family of 5 checked in and we're given a 10 minute wait time. 40 minutes later everyone else who checked in, including a family of 6 were seated before us. There was no update on a wait time or apology issued for the inconvenience. I'm sure the food is good because that's what we've been told and wanted to try, however the customer service is nonexistent.
google avatar

David V.

Yelp
Waited for over 30 minutes for our food. The establishment was not busy at all. Will never return to this location. Horrible
google avatar

Shannon T.

Yelp
We just walked out after waiting over 15 minutes to even be sat down at a table. There were empty tables all over, 3 people came out and yelled from the kitchen area that it would be a minute. 15 minutes later we walked out. HORRIBLE service!!!
google avatar

Chelsie H.

Yelp
I came here a couple of weekends ago late at night with some family and we had a horrible experience here. The service was extremely slow, even though there were very few people in the restaurant. It took forever to get our food. The waitress never brought us syrup for our pancakes or even asked if we wanted any. When we first arrived there we could hear that same waitress yelling in the kitchen for the whole restaurant to hear about a bad tip she had gotten from a table that had just left. I was extremely disappointed with how crappy the service was and how slow it was as well

Angela W.

Yelp
This used to be my favorite village in. Now it sucks. The last two times the wait has been a long time. We have had to walk into the back to get boxes and check. Kept getting told we will be right with you and then we still had to wait.
google avatar

Bonnie M.

Yelp
We used to really like this location, but the cooks have changed and the food has really really declined in quality; and our meals were wrong and had to be fixed twice.
google avatar

Jimmy P.

Yelp
Food was okay for me and it was pretty cheap. My wife disliked the pot roast. It was very ruff and didn't have much flavor. When we told the waiter he said, Let me grab my manager. Manager came to the table and said what is wrong and when she told her she came back with, I had it earlier and it was delicious. Coming from a manager it was very unprofessional. Look into your management Village Inn!
google avatar

Helen C.

Yelp
We've given this location a fair shake having returned because it's near our home. We've not quit after one bad experience. It's consistently disappointing. Poor service. Poor presentation of food. I'm not one to be passive aggressive about it. Spoke with the manager last night when we had a poor experience. She offered up verbally to make things right. Waitress never delivered. We waited over 30 minutes to get our check. Which we never did get brought to us. The whole wait experience is what I can only describe as "slopping the hogs". No finesse. We usually leave at least a 20 to 25 percent tip. Last night the tip was verbal to the cashier. "Offer better food and better service. Wait staff needs training." She offered to call over the manager. Told her to not bother. When you have already kindly pointed out shortcomings and given an opportunity to make things right it's redundant and a waste of your time. It's a gift from the universe telling you to move on. We weren't the only customer who didn't receive a check. Customer in front of us checking out had small children and had waited longer than we did for our check. She was worn out from having to wrangle small kids with such a long wait from being overlooked as valuable customers. Lip service from the manager didn't come through. Not returning. If experience is like this makes me wonder about kitchen/pantry management. Can't afford to get sick. Poor front of restaurant management is usually a great indicator of back.
google avatar

Alan W.

Yelp
When there Saturday night after a concert ,they were way under staffed and the place was a mess worst experience I have ever had at a eating establishment
google avatar

Anthony T.

Yelp
We've been going here for years and the service keeps getting worse. No drink refills, being ignored by server and management. My daughters drink glass was filthy and disgusting. No one cared and was more concerned with a smoke break or shooting the breeze in the kitchen. They have lost our business indefinitely.
