Yelp
This market is the kind of tiny gem that would clinch a home sale within walking distance. The quality of the choices here, from freezer items to local wines, beers, ciders, kombuchas, to salads, sandwiches, wraps, & dinners, to daily fresh baked pastries speak volumes about the immediate area.
This is where you'd choose to walk to for an actually good cup of strong morning coffee (local Simple Roast beans) or preservative-free Ithaca cream-top yogurt, or a turkey pesto wrap for lunch, or meatloaf with mashed sweet potatoes & broccoli for dinner. You wouldn't just come here because it's close, or because it supports local businesses, but also because everything is really good, & of really good quality.
Its location is right next door to the Aurora Inn where the 1833 restaurant is. That is a great sit down lunch & dinner restaurant. This the place to grab a beverage & a salad or wrap sammich or ice cream or delectable pastry (or all!) & walk down to the edge of Lake Cayuga to sit in one of the inn's many adirondack chairs to watch the geese swim by or the fish jump while you eat.
Open at 7am & closed at 8pm, you could (I could) eat here for every meal. There's a microwave to warm one of their freshly made breakfast sammiches or meatloaf or chicken or pasta dinners. This gem is clearly not a secret though - breakfast, lunch, & pastry choices are plentiful in the morning & dwindle through the afternoon. Dinner entrees fill the space in the cold case later in the day, but those great pastries don't get replaced til the morning - so get them while you can!
Of special note are the Buffalo Wrap sammich, the Tuna Salad w/fresh veggies salad, the Ginger Blueberry muffin, the Strawberry Cream Cheese pastry (OMG!), & the Coconut Chocolate Custard pastry (like a samoa & a custard croissant had a love child).
Other local goodies are the jars of raspberry fudge sauce, the goat milk soaps, and the seriously ample selection of adult beverages.
If you're staying at the Inns of Aurora, make a point to come here - and early if you can. You'll love what it says about the neighborhood!
