Chef JJ Johnson’s Grub Street Diet

"A neighborhood convenience shop across the street that sells handmade beef patties; one version featured barley in the filling with light, flaky pastry and was enjoyed warm and fresh." - Zach Schiffman, Sarah Kilcoyne

Kyara( I hope I spelled it right) is a literal ANGEL! I live near campus and happened to be walking my dog near the market and my dog did his duty and unfortunately I ran out of bags to pick it up so I ran in the Mart and they didn't have any small plastic bags but they made me a makeshift bag. I really appreciate her going the extra mile for me. They could have just handed me the big garbage bag, but instead, they went out of their way to make it easier for me. They definitely deserves a shoutout for such a kind thing!

Don’t spend your time and money for the Starbucks here. They def don’t know what they are doing!!

These prices are higher then any convenience stores in the area. You would think they would accommodate struggling college students but NOPE. Almost double the prices on everything!

Excellent place to purchase snacks, cleaning needs, and of course Pizza and Ice Cream using dining dollars (If you stay at the dorms$

don't go to the starbucks in here because they don't know what they are doing. I asked for a pumpkin spice iced chai latte (tea) and they gave me a coffeee with way too many pumps of pumpkin syrup and whip cream...

This place is really only meant for privileged people who don't care about money or those that don't know how to manage it. Prices are consistently 3-7x as expensive as they would be in other places like grocery outlet. The prepacked food is what it is. There's nothing special offered other than the potential convenience of walking a couple minutes less.

High prices are what you pay for the convenience, but SURPRISINGLY kind and helpful staff. The rest of the SJSU food providers other than the Dining Commons can learn from the Village Market, in that treating customers like sane-minded and decent human beings helps them want to come back to give more business. The management here was especially kind, but well done to all at the VM.

Theres usually some good food here but a lot of items don't have any prices on them. You just kinda grab stuff and maybe itsi affordable when you get to the register or maybe not.
