Vincci Ponte de Ferro (Vila Nova de Gaia, Norte) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Most of the Vincci hotels are in Spain, but one of the best is in Portugal, prominently positioned beside the Don Luís I Bridge that connects the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. Vincci Ponte de Ferro is on the latter side, housed in a trio of old warehouses originally used to store wines produced in the region. But the restored interiors don’t look like any storage space you’ve ever seen — they’re sleek and industrial, with exposed granite walls, double-high ceilings, and huge wrought iron-framed windows." - Tablet Hotels

I had one of the best hotel experiences . I did an upgrade to the Vincci Essence area on the 12th floor which provided complimentary snacks and beverages. The Location was excellent on the Gaia side of the Ponte Luis bridge. The views from my room were stunning. I did not get to take a dip in the pool, so I will have to return.||The hotel cleaning staff changed my towels daily which I thought was odd, because they did say they were trying to be enviromentallyfriendly

This hotel was just spectacular! In a wonderful position on the river, easy access cross the bridge into Porto. The rooms were spotless and roomy. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff. The breakfast was one of the best we’ve had . A definite recommendation!

**WOW, what a prime location!** I loved how everything was within walking distance – especially the stunning sunset right outside the hotel, with a celebration in the park adding a special touch. The hotel appears recently upgraded with a sleek, modern design. While the pool area and sky bar aren’t particularly large, they felt appropriate for such a central location – and the view is truly impressive. My room had a magical view, which made the stay even more special. However, I did encounter a few issues that impacted the overall experience: 1. **Insects in the room:** Unfortunately, large bugs kept appearing during my stay. I reported this to reception at least three times and was told that extra cleaning would be arranged, but this never happened. I remained polite and calm throughout, so it was disappointing not to see any meaningful follow-up, especially as it affected my comfort significantly. 2. **Bottle opener access:** There was no bottle opener in the room or minibar/snack area. I was told twice that I needed to go to the sky bar to open any bottles, even those from the minibar. On the third day, when I asked again, I was finally given a spare opener. It felt like something that could’ve been resolved much more easily. 3. **Non-functioning soap dispenser:** The hand soap dispenser in the bathroom wasn’t working properly. I reported it on my second day, and while the issue was acknowledged, it was never fixed during my stay. The staff were consistently friendly and polite, which I appreciated. However, there seemed to be a lack of communication between reception and the cleaning/maintenance teams. Particularly regarding the bugs, I expected the issue to be treated with higher priority – perhaps by offering a new room or at least acknowledging the discomfort more actively. As a guest, I don't believe it should be necessary to raise my voice or create a scene to get a proper solution. Overall, the hotel has a lot going for it, and I truly enjoyed several aspects of my stay. But due to the unresolved issues, I couldn’t quite give it a full 5-star rating this time.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel—its location right next to the bridge is ideal. The staff were exceptional across the board, from the reception to the breakfast service and the bar. While there weren’t any hot vegan options at breakfast, there was a good selection of fresh fruit, granola, muesli, and delicious bread. Plant-based milk is available upon request, and the breakfast staff truly went above and beyond. A tofu scramble would be a great addition! We also had dinner both at the hotel restaurant and the bar—both offered delicious food with vegan options. The ambiance, service, and cleanliness throughout the hotel were all top-notch. We booked a spot in the garage, which was a bit tight but manageable and definitely appreciated. The gym was disappointing for a hotel of this level. It was really tiny with little equipment. Overall, the location and experience were excellent. Would absolutely recommend.

A bittersweet experience, unfortunately. That’s because sadl, the breakfast staff were not helpful at all with a very simple request: scrambled eggs with vegetables and cheese. I went for breakfast as a walk-in, paying a considerable amount (€23). For my surprise, when I asked if instead of an omelet it would be possible to order scrambled eggs with vegetables and cheese, I received a blunt answer from the braided-hair waitress: "Only what’s on the menu is available. There are scrambled eggs at the buffet." I replied that yes, there were scrambled eggs on the buffet but they were not fresh and didn’t have vegetables or cheese. To this, I was told shortly that it wouldn't be possible. I spent a few minutes not understanding the reason behind this reply, after all scrambled eggs are even easier to prepare than an omelet. So I thought maybe the server wasn’t having a good day and asked another waitress the same thing and received the same answer. I asked why such a simple request seemed so difficult to fulfill and she told me that this was the “standard” for breakfast. From that point, the atmosphere became tense and awkward, with the staff talking among themselves and looking at me while I was still there. Unbelievable. I decided to settle for the scrambled eggs from the buffet, eat quickly, and leave, since apparently that’s what I was expected to do. If the hotel doesn’t want to welcome walk-ins, then don’t. That’s better than having a team unwilling to help. It leaves guests with a sour taste from an experience that had every chance of being exceptional.

We had a great stay at the Vincci Ponte de Ferro - our first break without kids in 22 years!||||The staff are lovely really helpful and obviously very used to people arriving early / leaving late as we did.||||The rooms are spotless with really comfortable beds and a great ensuite with walk in shower. We booked a room with a partial view which actually gave us a very good view of the bridge and river.||||The breakfast is amazing, a huge spread and comes with a glass of fizz which is a nice touch. It runs to 11.00am too so lunch not required!||||The hotel is in a great location, right on the edge of the Dom Louis bridge with access from the reception onto the top deck (tramline and footpath), and via lift to the lower level, so it's easy to avoid walking up and down loads of hills/steps to get to the riverside cafes etc.||||The pool is quite small but we loved roof top bar area, and the overall vibe, with it's views across the river.||||Overall a great place to stay in Porto and we hope to return in the future.

I want to rate this hotel 5 stars but the service is so inconsistent. Room is average we had a problem with a toilet running that took 3 visits to fix. Shower is small and has overhead water. I hate it. River view but no balcony. Breakfast and dinner are excellent. Bar service by pool is horrible. Lousy service and many non hotel guests use the pool and lounge chairs no one checks. We have been to the pool a few times and service is consistently bad. Location is excellent. Not sure I would stay here again
