Tuesday chess night was fun. The patio is chill. Tons of local bands play here and they have $4 beers and craft drinks for fanatics. You can expect a show and crowd nearly any day of the week. It’s a LB music scene for sure. You heard it through the grapevine…there is usually a taco truck near by for grub.

Google
I don't drink anymore, but when I did, this place had a great selection and still does. I mostly come for the music now, which is great because the shows start early and end early. I can walk here, but if you're driving, I would get there early as parking can be difficult as it is all over Long Beach. The bartenders here are great as well. Paul is one of the best.

Francisca

Google
Reminds me of the midwest bars I used to frequent....plenty of outside seating. They let you bring food in! Love that! Live music was canceled due to LA fires when I wa there but it was a jazz band....gotta try it again.

Google
The venue and the service is excellent. The outside area and live music makes this spot a must hang out. The drinks weren't to my liking only because I like he'd liquor.

Vincent Blackburn

Google
The Venue that brings Long Beach's Finest Music to the community, Great selection live bands with amazing upbeat atmosphere! A Gem of LBC✨️🎶

The Vine is on 4th Street in Long Beach, CA. It's a bar and music venue. My girl and saw a local favorite and new band. The venue is small but the right size for the crowd draw (at least when we were there.) There's seating at the bar, three tables and plenty of standing room. There's an outside section in back, but I didn't make it out there. There was an excellent selection of beer in bottles, cans and on tap. The sound was great. Loud enough to have fun, but you can still talk to people. I'll definitely see a band there again. I'll be sure to show up a little early to get a seat.

Rosemary Martin

Google
The band was awesome, but the parking is ridiculous. They only serve beer and wine. It's really small.

Michael Morgan

Google
One of my favorite bars in LB! They have a great deal on Thursdays for $5 house red or white wine all day! Bartenders are super friendly as well and get to know their regulars. Good selection of beer, hard kombucha, and varieties of wine. One thing I appreciate about Vine is that you can grab a drink at pretty much any price point. Patio is really cute and can either be chill and a nice spot to read or lively.

Yelp
The last first date night spot. I came here with my now-fiancé on our first date and it was the most fun night of my life. We ordered a bottle of orange wine and we sat on the back patio, listening to the live music inside until 12am! One con: the tables are a bit wide, so if you like holding hands or gentle arm brushes, you might find those challenge depending on which table you choose. Everything else was perfect. Take your date here -- you'll thank me later

Yelp
I had a great time here last Friday. The crowd and the vibe were happy and fun. I'd call this a dive bar. My sister was a guest singer with a band last week, and my husband and I enjoyed the show and the wine. The shows are pretty much standing room only, so dress accordingly. We ate somewhere else first, so I am not too sure what the food is like here. Overall, we enjoyed our time. The sound quality was great, and it was a well managed bar. I'd definitely see a show here again.

Yelp
Vine is such a fun way to get plugged into the community! This bar is located on 4th st, street parking or paid lot nearby. Seating inside is ideal for smaller groups. plenty of seating in their outdoor patio (smoke friendly). This place is known for their beer and wine selection but they have some seltzers and hard kombucha as well. They also have a small snack menu - hot dogs, veggie dogs, chips, and jerky. To ensure there's a little something for everyone vine offers a variety of live music. I went this past Monday and saw jazz fusion band. I don't get the opportunity to see much jazz music live so this was a fun experience for me! Staff is professional and pretty quick. Overall, I had a great time and will definitely be back. Tip: follow their IG to see their events calendar and updates

Yelp
Such a cool place and in the heart of Retro Row. We came here to see our friends band play, Smoking Data Guns, and had a lot of fun. The venue is on the smaller side but it was great to be able to hang with friends while listening to great music. The bar is stocked with beers from local breweries and they also have a Vino list which is a plus. There's a couple of seltzers and Hard Kombucha, too. The bartender was great and had a positive attitude. Pretty cool dude! There was a DJ playing before the show began and he was mixing some pretty music so definitely played into the ambience. It was a rainy day, so we couldn't access the patio but it was pretty big outside. If you are looking for a chill night, this is the place to be. There are plenty of restaurants in the area so you can have a quick bite and chill at the bar. It is next door to the Hangout, so after some shopping, you can enjoy a cold beer. We will definitely be back because this is the type of bar we enjoy. Shout out to the guy working Sunday night with the long hair and glasses. You were great and quick at taking the orders, especially on a busy night!!!

Brittney p.

Yelp
really cute Bar good live music. Very chill place variety food open till late. Recommended to anyone that wanted. Nice chili night.

Christine W.

Yelp
With a laid back atmosphere and nightly live local music, Vine is definitely a local gem. t's gotten better over the years and has great service and a nice selection. I especially like that they carry some selections from ambitious ales (local brewery) and other local selections. They even have a nice back patio and they allow you to bring in your own food.

Jasmine B.

Yelp
Favorite bar in Long Beach. The variety of options of beer on draft, canned, wine, drinks, and offering some snack options are great. Love the live music, art displayed, and the ambience in general.

Ryna D.

Yelp
Looks like a dive bar but actually a really nice chill local's bar with a good wine selection. A major plus is that you can bring your pizza from Little Coyote. I've come here a couple times with friends and it's definitely a spot I'd come more frequently if I lived in walking distance to it. They often have live music as well.

Heytie S.

Yelp
Wine & A Hot Dog. Good Vibes. Patio also a lovely touch. Bathrooms full of art. This is the dream.

David P.

Yelp
Came to to see #colortide play enjoyed a delicious HAMMS and shared a bottle of Rosé great vibes def coming back

Kristine W.

Yelp
Walked in mid day, and it was quiet still. The bartender was cool. Hip. Nice. Then asked for my proof of vaccination. So I pulled out my handy dandy negative covid test & I was in there like swim wear guys! So be prepared prior to showing up. No one wants to show up and someones like, "you can't sit with us!" Grabbed some good ole' house sangria. & made my way to the back patio. Love hanging lights and a good atmosphere. I've heard they have live music from time to time which is awesome sauce. Enjoy!

Marn R.

Yelp
Nice place, nice ambience, but check your bill they charged me for an extra drinks please checked your bill and make sure your getting charged right and there is no way to prove it because they don't give a receipt.

Carlos P.

Yelp
Great vibes, great drinks! Nice selection of beers plus the bands are always awesome, don't forget to check out the patio

T L.

Yelp
This place is a cool vibe. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Emily, the manager was so understanding and nice. The dj was playing the jams! Will definitely be back

Jonny S.

Yelp
Bets spot for local music. Seen every genre here punk to jazz. No hard liquor but solid beers and wines. Back patio is legit. Gotta stop by if your in LBC. Hot dawgs.

Kelly C.

Yelp
I've come here a few times now and I love the vibe! It's a great place to hangout with friends and the service is on point. The pic is just of one of the art pieces that I like at the Vine. The back patio is smoker friendly too so def bring some herb if that's your jam.

Macario L.

Yelp
Crowded and hot, can't move around, can't hear myself think. Please limit the amount of people allowed as I believe that's a fire hazard. Thank you.

Mlyshia R.

Yelp
Ambiance is excellent! Service is extremely good. Beer & wine was so fresh venue is extremely nice. Patio outside was spacious & nice. Smoke friendly which is cool. Owners are sweet and excellent. Bar is extremely cute. Would recommend for any kind of gathering

Katie S.

Yelp
First time going here since moving to the neighborhood. first of all - service was really bad. bartender wasn't friendly at all and rushed us through our order. my partner asked about one of the beers and instead of answering or talking about the menu, he just kept saying "so do you want that beer? do you want to get it?" i asked about one of the wines and he didn't seem to know what it was. he had to look at the menu with me to know what i was talking about. the weird thing is that the bartender was friendly to people he obviously recognized but not friendly to others. when i see that happen at restaurants/bars, i don't go back. ever. they had live music (which is why me and my partner decided to go) the music was good until a dude in skeleton makeup started screeching into the microphone. we left soon after that. i was really surprised at how divey this place is. the crowd was mostly loud white dudes pounding modelo. writing this review for any other female that might also be mistaken thinking this place is a more laid back craft beer / wine spot. it's not. don't waste your money.

M M.

Yelp
Best and worst bar. Best as the best place on 4th - for the music, drinks, and people. Worst because it closes so early most nights and they flip on ALL the lights at 10:30pm, seconds after you've bought a round, and you've wasted money, and are rushed out, and it's blocks to the real bars.

Roberto E.

Yelp
Great place to see live music. Always a good time. If the music gets too loud there is a super chill patio area out back. Highly recommend!

Red F.

Yelp
Great place, great owners, great staff and the best mascot ever. The back patio is a great place to sit and catch up with friends. Try the Mikkeller!

Yelp
I went in last night the guy with black hair, fair skin with glasses was serving and today I'm looking over what I spent and the it seems like the bartender tipped himself without my knowledge. Bc the charge on my statement is different from my receipt, this is very disrespectful because I actually tipped him even though his customer service was whatever and all he did was get me a beer. Management should have a talk with him.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I had come here a few times on weeknights after moving to the neighborhood. Both times we were served in an empty bar by a bartender named Paul who was fairly nice. However I'm writing this review immediately after getting kicked out of Vine, by Paul, on 4th Friday. Locals are aware of the monthly street fair where 4th street is set up with vendors on the sidewalk. We decided after work to grab our dog a drink and walk to the festivities. Our first stop was Vine because we recognized another local sitting at the bar. While we were saying hello Paul interrupted twice to let us know we had to bring what we thought were discreet water bottles outside because there were a few ounces left in them. I was confused at first but in my attempt to comply, my girlfriend and I went outside, dumped the last few drops of our drink onto the street and tried to continue our conversation with our friend. I guess this wasn't enough for Paul who then started telling us we were drunk and needed to leave, and that we didn't care about his job, to which I replied that we do and that's why we patron their bar all the time. I don't think he heard me because he kept talking over me and told me to come back when I wasn't inebriated. I even tried to remind him that he and I had several amicable conversations previously to which he didn't even acknowledge, probably because he kept talking over me and my girlfriend who were just trying to reason with him. Finally after several minutes of being yelled at and called a drunk, we left because it was obvious that conversation wasn't going anywhere. I can't help but feel like race was a factor, as we were the darkest faces in that room and then we're immediately welcomed at the next bar we went to, where I write this review amongst my friends and my dog, while being served by a friendly bartender. I told Paul that I'd be writing this review (his reply was "you wanna blow me up? fine!!") and I also told him that I'd never come back to this establishment. I expect to see a response here trying to slander me by saying that I was "too drunk", in which case I'm either Earnest Hemingway or Paul is just a racist who didn't want black people in his bar.

Bill G.

Yelp
Went in last night to catch performer Tammie Brown and left before she came out. Music was at unbearably loud volume inside. My ears are still ringing the day after. I did not get a very LGBTQ friendly vibe considering the performance scheduled. Music level inside makes it impossible to talk. I've given this place 3 tries since it opened and this is the last. If you want a chill wine bar vibe there are much better places to consider, even across the street. If you like a younger/hipster crowd and deafening loud music, this is the place for you.

Michael L.

Yelp
Now mainly as a beer hub. Very cool owners and atmospheric vibes in the patio. Very helpful to guide you to your flavors of beer or wine.

tina s.

Yelp
Thanks Jim and Sophie for your many years of great wine, beer, events. Small bar with a Big heart. This is the place for good drinks, art, events and music! Bringing in February with Datenite and Paranoid Void(Japan)! Local and international musicians. So refreshing to see some raw talent!

Yelp
Gentrification is not punk. I was at 4th Street Vine June 2 for the Queer / Trans Punk and Art show- was really enjoying myself until I witnessed a bar employee angrily ejecting a little old woman trying to sell flowers and trinkets. It's extremely disappointing that at an event promoting one marginalized/ endangered community, the venue staff would be so utterly intolerant of a member of another marginalized/ endangered community. She obviously has no other means of income, and was being discreet and polite, unlike the employee who made a big self- righteous scene of it. I've been to music shows all over the country, and these 'grey market' sellers are generally tolerated by the clubs. I've bought flowers, tamales, glow necklaces etc from them. They are able to coexist with the 'legitimate' business and help support their families as best they can. But not in Long Beach!

Carolyn M.

Yelp
This place is not a wine bar! We came on a Saturday night and it was a total rock and roll meets dive bar meets hipsters on steroids joint. It was so loud that we couldn't hear each other yell at each other, and it was so hot and stuffy in there you would think you just walked into a hot sauna. We ordered a glass of wine anyway, just because we couldn't stand being sober in there. The noise and crowd just got worse and worse and we had never chugged wine so fast to GTFO. We ended up calling an uber and going to District Wine. Doubt we will ever come back.

Britt H.

Yelp
I like the feel of this place! Lots of room to sit, and a great patio to hang out on! Great place to come listen to live music. They could do better on the cider selection. I had the raspberry cider and it was too sour. No thanks! I wish they would stay open longer, but I understand the early closing hours, as they need to respect the people in the residential area that's close by. They could also expand on their food menu as well.

Nora F.

Yelp
Yes, nice place to relax and enjoy your drink while waiting for your next flight. We stopped here because Hubby met his friends here so I let them talk and I had my drink. I also went get the food next door to bring it here to eat since the flight is going to be long. This bar is great! Beautiful!

Giovanni S.

Yelp
Dive bar with a super interesting crowd! These are the local bars that are the essence of a neighborhood that you pray are not lost to the 'g' word (gentrification). The only downside are their hours, which is somewhat understandable because of the neighborhood. The patio area is open until 10.00p Monday - Thursday, 11.00p Friday - Sunday. The bar itself is open until 11.00p Monday - Thursday, and midnight Friday - Sunday. So, this is a good place to just stop for a drink, and I guess get not too crazy if you have work the next day. All they serve is beer and wine. Which for me, as a beer drinker, that's all I need. The music is super mixed and they have different nights with different music and events going on. And, if you're a smoker, the patio accommodates your needs.

Asia Y.

Yelp
Super cute bar on 4th. The bartender is friendly and very knowledgeable of all beverages at the bar. The ambiance is mellow and hip. We stopped by on a 4th Friday and we had a great time! Can't wait to come back for the Thursday night drink specials.

Tom A.

Yelp
This place has changed over the last two years or so. I liked it better when it was more of a wine bar. The servers were awesome and knew a lot about their wines. Now its a hipster bar with really loud music - thankfully the staff is still awesome. Before you start calling me grandpa over loud music, I am all for music. I would like to be able talk to people though about whatevs, wine, music, stuff. It can get really packed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights - more of a bar scene than a tasting room or wine bar. If you want more of a chill atmosphere, pick a weekend afternoon, or even a early week evening.

Francisco R.

Yelp
Good bar to chill n hang out with friends. Certain amount of choices of alcohol but yea

Caleb N.

Yelp
Won't be coming back because of the rude bartenders. Would rather give my money to an establishment with people who don't have a nasty attitude.

Kelly L.

Yelp
As stated in other reviews, this is not the place to go if you're a wine enthusiast. The wine selection is quite limited, and the three we tried were all pretty disappointing. The vibe here is great, and worth more than 3 stars. I'm not a beer person, but my date is, and commented that the beer selection is very good. So, come here for the beer, I guess, and stay for the laid-back über hipster atmosphere.

Taylor S.

Yelp
Started off enjoying this place, went because we had a friends band playing live tonight. Service was average & the selection is what you would expect for a small wine/beer bar. Prices were acceptable. Would have been a better review however towards the end of the evening after the live bands stopped, they had music playing over the sound system and it was a slow dance oldies vibe.. So my boyfriend and I started slow dancing, VERY PG-13 to be clear, and another couple started heading to the dance floor to join us and the guy bartender with very long hair (sorry none of their names were displayed) changed the music MID SONG (which was the only time this evening that happened) to something completely different, I wanna say it was like an electronic 80's type, while staring at us on the dance floor and the female bartender said "get a room." (This was overheard by our friends who I don't think the woman was aware were in ear shot & was confirmed by another guest). We left immediately after because it completely ruined our experience and they were so rude about it. Why play slow dance music if you don't want any of the few customers you have left in the bar dancing to it?? Bummed because I enjoy supporting my community's local business but our is group is definitely no longer interested in returning. Customer service is everything.. We can get beer and wine anywhere, so if we're going to be judged or humiliated for dancing appropriately to the music they chose to play then we will take our business elsewhere.

Jacob D.

Yelp
Bartender was friendly, and service was great, but it was way too warm inside on a summer day. I take it they did not have a/c. Wine was good, but also very pricey avg 8.00/glass. Good place to treat yourself every now and then, but I would rather buy a decent bottle of wine for that price and enjoy 4 glasses out of it.

Adela A.

Yelp
After giving this place the benefit of the doubt and a second chance .. I realized there is no hope in customer service heaven for this bar and frankly I wouldn't even have stepped foot into this establishment if it wasn't for the vegan pop ups! My first time there, was for a vegan pop up event , I was completely ignored by the woman "tending" the bar- several attempts to get her attention but seemed like she was serving everyone but us, we weren't even greeted at any point. My date had to leave his seat and walk over to her to finally get us a drink. After that drink we got our food and immediately left to another bar. Then, I knew- they weren't worth my money or another visit.. this morning I was invited to a pop up brunch, where I was not told the location till I got there in fear I wouldn't go!! Sure enough, same woman "tending" bar , déjà vu. Here we are again standing for over 10 minutes while she completely looks through us and again not even a greeting when we walked in. I've been to most Long Beach bars and I've need felt so unwelcome and out of place. Finally, again, leaving our chairs, to come to her, we walk over and wait for her to finish with another customer. Before she took our order, I simply asked, do you have to get in line here to get a drink or do you serve the whole bar ? - her reply was , "yes in line, no I mean I serve the whole bar" which I replied, we were standing there for a long time waving at you. She looked down and said " oh I didn't see you " ... what a joke if it wasn't for the vegan pop ups I would of never spent a dime in that place! There is way too many options and way friendlier bartenders out there to settle for half ass serve like this! No one goes out to be treated poorly and I'm definitely NOT paying for it! Lesson learned ! Next pop up I'll be there and straight to the food and out the door to a real bar and better people!

Tara D.

Yelp
Caveat: one visit only. Beer was decent but not spectacular; they were out of the wine my friend wanted (perhaps taking it off/crossing it off the chalkboard would have been a good idea?.) The wine she ordered had a terrible nose and didn't taste much better. We all tasted and agreed it was between ew and meh. She left a third of the glass behind when we left (we aren't hugely fussy; I've never seen her leave an unfinished glass of wine before.) Not a big selection of wine; and nothing I recognized. Service was polite, but more akin to regular bar service -- not what I usually expect at a wine bar (enthusiasm, suggestions, a little information.) We weren't a big fan of the band playing (they were a little too loud for the size/type of venue -- aka obliterate conversation level -- and they weren't very good.) Seating wasn't very comfortable for a wine bar and the art wasn't my cup of tea (a lot of it looked like Target-style home decor stuff to me), although my friend liked one of the pieces a lot. A big part of my two stars is probably due to my preferences/taste -- I prefer a cozy wine bar, and a vibe more suited to conversation than music (music's great, as long as you can still hear the person sitting next to you.) But the wine and service didn't counter that, so I feel like two stars is about right for now. Verdict: For me, it was a two-star experience, but I can see how others with difference preferences might like it more. I might go back on another, slower night to see if I liked it any better.

Jesse C.

Yelp
By far one if the funnest wine bar experiences I've ever had. On Valentine's Day, I figured we can stop by for a little flight after dinner. I was expecting a calm atmosphere, maybe some dim lighting. Instead there was live music with a lively crowd. The staff was friendly and very helpful in creating the perfect flight of red wines. Which was priced at an inexpensive $12 for a flight of four wines. I have to admit that I misread this place the first time around.

Steph H.

Yelp
Since my last review I've been here quite a few times. I even had an art show here. It's still a chill homey place to hang out and I think Jim the owner is one of the nicest guys out there. I came to my first $3 Thursday last night and it was the most crowded I've ever seen it! Hey, nothing like cheap booze to bring out the budget-conscious hordes. Even though it was a bit of a madhouse when we first walked in, the crowd ebbed a bit and we were able to have an enjoyable hour or so gabbing and chatting while sipping our surprisingly good $3 glass of wine. They've added a couple of more pieces of furniture so there's a little bit more seating, but luxurious hoity-toity digs this ain't. Still love it though, and I look forward to my next visit.

Steve P.

Yelp
Not a bar guy, Joe Jost's is my only go-to place. But 4th Street has friendly people within, no shortage of folks to relate to, but at my age, the punk music in the system for an hour or so was sort of unrelateable. Then the DJ came in, switched off the punk at about 8 and all was much better. I went there to sell records at an event, but the interior was too dark for customers to get a good look. So positives and not-so, but the people made it a positive experience.

Chuck A.

Yelp
.., 4th Street Vine offers 3 of my favorite things in life. Tasty beverages, music, & FOOD! Artsy modern set up w/ a great selection of beers. Not too many from what I had seen (remember),but they were all top notch. My gf Diane & I hosted our friends Luz & Chris from out of town. Our friend Jessica had also accompanied us, as we set out to taste the Bacon Mania truck hosting the nights incredible edibles. We had met one of the owners whom I believe is a husband & wife team. I'm pretty sure the husband had said his name was Jim. If it isn't, I apologize good sir, for a buzz was already in my drivers seat. I was happy to have a Le Cheuffe again. We tried Old Chub for the first time & that set me over the top. The prices are decent, but mind you, there is a $10 minimum. The drinks we purchased ranged from $7-$20ish. There was an indie duo consisting of a female on the cello, & a male on his guitar jamming out. They did an awesome job, I really dug their music. Good times indeed. I love how they host a food truck on the weekends w/ a live band to accompany the classy comfortable ambiance this place offers. We will be back soon! Salut!

Steven G.

Yelp
What a shame!!! Came in this past Sunday, 9/23, to have a Wasted Turtle with a group of 6 friends. The female bartender (a brunette) was the absolute worst! Rolled her eyes and said, "Really? 7 wasted turtles at 10pm?" Walked away to make them and starts complaining to another patron. "Can you believe this? They're ordering 7 wasted turtles at 10pm" mind you, she only had about 6 people in the bar. No line, everyone had a drink in hand...and they close at 11pm! Sorry you can't handle pouring wine and beer. It's a business, make money, make the patrons happy. It's not that difficult. Do something else if it's too difficult to make a drink. Never going back and definitely not recommending.

Mallory W.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came in and ordered the European Wine Tasting. We we're served immediately but then the bartender left to go fix the beer tap system and disappeared for 10 minutes. We sat...and sat...and JUST as we were about to leave, he came back and continued to serve us. Fourth & Vine get three stars for reasonable pricing and they sell Cascade Brewing bottles.

Tyler D.

Yelp
Came here for the drinks and the bitches. Ended up getting a $10 cheese plate that had 3 measly pieces of cheese and 4 crackers. Pros: Delish white Bordeaux. Can you say classy? I can. Cons: I saw someone's silhouette while they were in the bathroom. I accidentally knocked a wine glass off the wall with my telekinesis. My friends didn't understand my 'Carrie' reference. Pros Part II: Having a nice time.

Arlene R.

Yelp
The bartender was a bit rude when a friend and I first walked in, but the ambiance and music was great. I loved the eclectic vibe. Wine selection was ok, not the best, and there isn't any food. This truely a wine bar, not a wine tasting lounge.
