First time ordering from here. Ordered the Italian Special. The deli meat and cheese is great. The bread I got today feels like it might be over a day old, a little too hard. The bread says a lot about a sandwich. I might give it another shot another day, but I’ve had better

The absolute nicest, kindest woman taking the orders. The subs were good, but not great. I would go back solely to interact with that woman she was so nice!

This place is the absolute best. It feels stuck in time in all the best ways. The sandwiches are extremely reasonably priced and delicious. The workers are super nice and quick with service. The menu is small but every sandwich I’ve had there is fantastic. Definitely try this place if you’re in the area.

Amazing food, people, and atmosphere! We were looking for a good sandwich shop and noticed all the great reviews for this place so we had to try it. As everyone else says, the lady at the counter is the sweetest and was very helpful when it came to choosing a sub. I had the pesto sub with smoked turkey and lettuce with no tomato and it was AMAZING. Fresh pesto made in house daily! I will definitely be going back there and taking other friends when they come to visit.

I’ll echo other reviews by saying the woman taking orders was incredibly kind and helpful. Her words feel like a hug! The subs are great. Exactly what I was looking for and they use local bread! It’s one of the few places left that still has fair food and drink prices left in the city. My boyfriend and I have decided this is our new regular sub spot!

5/5 of for everything here! The woman at the register who took our order was super friendly and sweet, and the shop was a really nice atmosphere. No frills, you can tell it's been unchanged for a long time. The sandwich was simple and delicious. Menu had plenty of sandwich options including some vegetarian ones. Prices are reasonable too, we got two subs and the total was $22.

Today I was in search of an original sub shop that had a great sub like the ones from the corner stores back in the day. I found it at Vinnie's. It was perfect because it was near my kids Schools. Great/quick customer service, clean atmosphere, delicious food. I am grateful 🙏 for these joints in the neighborhood. Thank you 🙏. My husband enjoyed his ham & cheese sub. Can't wait to come back again. On point 👌

We walked past this place and it alway close. So we finally came during lunch time and on the weekend to grab a sub. The worker was very welcoming and helpful. I got the turkey pesto and my boyfriend got their famous vinnie sub. We took our first bit, we think the bread is too thick and the portion of the meat isn't enough.

Anyone that thinks this place is a four and a half star Italian deli, has never really been to one. If I wanted to get skimped on my sub I would just go to Subway. I'd rather pay $15 for a sandwich with actual ingredients then $10 or some fresh bread filled with the bare minimums. Go down the street to Bari.

If you like your sandwich bread to be crunchy, crispy, but chewable on the outside and fresh, flavorful, and soft on the inside then Vinnie's is your spot! The bread served fresh sets them apart from many of the other delis and sandwiches in the area. Their meats a quality, cut thin, flavorful, and have a nice texture. The produce is always fresh as well. The ambience is what you would expect for Chicago Deli, and the service is lovely "babe."

Everything about this place is excellent. Great service, friendly, quick and the food is amazing. This is my second sandwich from here and the part that stands out the most about the food is the provolone. Something about that cheese is soooooo good. The lady at the counter is awesome also

It's a very small location but when there's seating we add minutes to the meter and inhale at least half of our sandwiches. Great for picnics in the city or even to eat in the car. The service is amazing. It's a weeks staple for us

I defy anyone to find a better sub on the renowned Grand Ave. I've tried em all, and I think Vinnie is by far the tastiest. They put a lot of effort in the seasonal and holiday decor. The lady behind the counter will charm your socks off. Every time we visit is a delight, we come a little after the lunch rush so we don't have to wait in line. Grand Ave. may be the most famous sandwich street in Chicago, if you're wondering which one you should try first, it's Vinnie's.

Food was amazing and well priced and I got way more food than expected I travel a lot and it's hard to find good places to eat and this definitely stands out

Of all the great sandwich shops on Grand Ave, Vinnie's is by far my favorite. It's a small little shop with just a few seats so you might have to take to go. The food is fantastic - I've tried every sandwich and each one is more delicious than the next. Lastly, the people who run Vinnie's are some of the nicest and most welcoming people. Every time I come here it feels like I'm walking into my home. Vinnie's is a must!

They were friendly and nice! You can get your sandwich's fast if ur in a hurry! But are real problem was that where was hardly any meat on are subs and we like to get Italian subs all over and for being so close to two other sub shops I expected more!! They fell short on my expectations with only having 4 slices of meat!!

Food is healthy! service was okay! If you're looking for a quick bite, I think this is not a bad place for you, I recommend it over Subway

This place is located right off grand in the west town/river north area. It's a very small place with only a couple of bar seats to sit at. I didn't grab her name but she was so sweet! The best customer service! I got the Vinnie' which is ham & salami with provolone! We will definitely be back!

Vinnie's is my absolute favorite spot. Great sandwiches, quick and made-to-order. Quality ingredients and reasonably priced. The ingredients are always amazingly fresh, the people are friendly, and the service is fast. Their sandwiches are always top notch and the rotating soup selection never disappoints. They have also delicious options for vegetarians. If you are looking for a great deli sandwich, this is the place. Great price! Would choose Vinnies Sub Shop over any chain. Totally recommend!

It's okay. They had a write up in the Tribe so I decided to check. Let me say I usually get my subs on Taylor street. Conte De Savaio. I ordered the Italian sub. When the young lady handed me the sandwich and boom I could tell that I'm paying $10.00 for this sandwich and at Conte De Savaio I'm paying $7.00 and it's heavier. But the sandwich was good I liked the taste of the balsamic vinegar

This place is the real deal. Amazing if you get the two chairs at the counter. The lady is so nice and helpful, not always the case at real deal deli. We got a tuna sub add giardinera and Turkey pesto mayo (the special) and both were great. High quality ingredients. The promise of fresh pesto made that day was definitely real. Crunchy, fresh bread while still being soft and edible. The tuna sub was flavorful and great consistency. The Turkey pesto special sub was like biting into a fresh Italian cloud - fresh mozzarella! Must try Chicago staple.

I had a random craving for a good Italian sandwich and decided to give this place a try for delivery for the first time. I ordered the Italian House Specialty sandwich and potato salad. The potato salad was really flavorful and creamy. I would rate it a perfect 10/10. I wasn't as impressed by the sandwich. The price for the sandwich was fair, but the amount of meat was super skimpy in general. There wasn't a good balance of bread to meat. I opted to add hot giardiniera peppers when I ordered, but it didn't come with any. When I noticed that they weren't on the sandwich, I thought I may have forgotten to add them, but I did see it on my online receipt. There was also only trace amounts of vinegar and seasoning on my sandwich. The sandwich didn't quite satisfy my craving, but maybe I caught them on a bad day. My final take- Probably not an ideal place for delivery. If you are there ordering in person, you can have better input over the ingredients they put on the sandwich. If you do order delivery, I highly advise picking the "add more meat" option.

You wouldn't think finding a great sub shop would be so difficult. After all, it's just cold cuts, cheese, and bread, right? How can you fail at that? Where other shops fall short, Vinnie's does not. It's all about the bread, you've got to have a sturdy, crusty roll that gets the job done. Check. Then, you've got to have plentiful options, not just a turkey and cheese or an Italian, but some interesting options and playful specials. Check. The toppings have got to be there too, not too heavy or overdone, but just enough to bring the whole thing together. Check, yet again. Oh, and do you like reasonable prices and the sweetest Italian lady you've ever met behind the counter? Then get over to Vinnie's asap!

Great subs and wonderful owner. This spot is one of the best. The bread is perfect and all the meats are freshly cut

It's been a long time coming, but Vinnie's is my new favorite submarine shop. As I learned from my first experience. I just got a made to order sub and the ingredients along with the excellent bread just couldn't be beat. Of course they have great bread, but you know that's gonna be great from the local bakery they have listed in the door. You know what made the small difference was the amount of toppings/condiments was just right. Some places slather on the mayo or the oil or whatever, but Vinnie's sub I had was perfect. I had everything on it, but it still held together and it still tasted great. I did get the hot giardinera on the side. They didn't skimp on the toppings, it was just the right amount. Plus as awesome and kind as the lady taking the orders is, Vinnie's is a winner in my book. I will be putting this place at the top of my list going forward.

This spot has the cutest lady working the register. Super sweet and could sell you bottled water at your house! Classic Italian deli, I'd say a must and probably a neighborhood staple. I had the tuna salad and it was great. They will cater to your needs i.e. no bread, vegetarian if need be. I would try the spicy pickled celery on any sandwich. It's a must. I really miss having places like this around me. Good times and friendly faces.

While perusing my best sub list I realized I hadn't written a review for one of the best sub joints in the city. I've been here dozens of times (before Yelp) since I gave up on Baris' long ago. Whats with the attitude there? Forget the overpriced and over rated JP Graziano (where's the beef?) For clarification I do like the subs at both joints but JP so chinzy with the meats it's almost like eating a veggie sub. Vinnie's actually appreciates its customers. Friendly service is not over rated and in these Covid times making the customer feel welcome for supporting them must happen. The sub here has a decent portion of meats and cheeses piled on really great crusty bread with lettuce, tomato oil & seasoning and the Chef's vinegar dressing. Maybe the dressing is the kicker here. Add some giardinera and maybe a few more slices of meat and you've got one of the best subs around.

This is a great place to grab a quick bite to eat and the staff is always very friendly. The sandwiches are wonderful and the bread is always fresh. My go to is the turkey sandwich. I recommend ordering for pickup since the inside of Vinnie's is small and there is often a line at lunch. Make sure to check out the top notch soda and chip selection. Also, parking on the street is limited.

The subs deserve a 5 star review, but what is even better is the service. They really care about you as a customer. I can't say enough about how incredible they are with quick, caring service. My wife just had a baby and all she wanted were subs from Vinnie's, and when I called the woman who answered made us feel like we were long time friends/family. If you are looking for a sub in Chicago, you are wasting your money if you go anywhere else but Vinnie's. Top notch subs and even greater service. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. - Elliott

The subs are great. Really good stuff - good quality meat and cheese, the veggies are tasty, and the bread is great for a sub. But the place has always been chaos every time I've gone there and the wait has been more than 30 minutes. That's just too long for a lunch hoagie! So I end up not going anymore and instead just head to Jimmy Johns, which is worse but I can actually get some food during my lunch break. There's no seats, the inside is old-school and tight.

I lived in Chicago for a long time. I'm posting this because if you haven't been here you need to go here. The sandwiches are incredible. I moved from Chicago and can't find anything that resembles this place. Great people, great service and incredible food.

I was walking around River West, the mid-budget neighborhood, close to but not in downtown, where I decided to stay, for this trip. Right next to my AirBnB, there's a mainstream sub chain, but why eat there, unless you want some safely premade dolphin tuna? So I walked a bit, and found this place. Looks authentic. Cashier lady was nice, and seemed quite authentic herself. They prepared my food very quickly, and it was good. I got the Italian, which I ate on a park bench nearby, as I did not want to disturb a couple, possibly on a date, who sat down at the deli's limited counter seating, before me. An outside table or two would have been nice. My one regret was not getting banana peppers on the Italian. Those come standard on Italians, at some places. At Vinnie's, you'd have to ask for that, specifically. In the end, a very good, authentic Italian sub, but not the best I've ever had, in the whole world. For its time and place, quite good, though, and a nice ambiance, if you're lucky and ambitious enough to get a seat. I never mean to bring businesses down on their reviews, but think about what a 5-star restaurant actually is.

Sandwich was good, the woman working the register at the shop is a true gem, I'll come back just to see her again.

I was in the Fulton Market Area today and was craving an Authentic Italian Sub, I googled "Sandwich Shop" and ended up at Vinnie's, and let's just say that they have made a permanent customer out of me! I walked into this adorable little shop on Grand ordered the Italian (#2) with Pesto Mayo, Onion, Hot Giardiniera, House made Basalmic Vinaigrette, Lettuce, and Pickle *chefs kiss*. The bread was freshly baked, everything on the sandwich was fresh, and the young lady at the register (the owners wife) was so welcoming and so sweet. I will probably be back tomorrow, 10/10.

Boom! This is it. Mom and Pop, great subs. The owner is at the register and will tell you all about he shop, Vinny and the sandwich named after him, which I highly suggest! Great selection of delicious sandwiches and drinks to go with them. They use some local pop company. Ambiance?! It's a sandwich shop, it feels like one. Great things to see on the wall. Go here.

Sandwiches are the best it's a small place been going for years. The Italian is my favorite.

The subs were tasty!!! I got the smoked turkey and the Italian sub. The lady running the sub shop was really sweet. Vinnie's was a super small sub shop. I got there at 11:22am and walked out at 12:02pm. It took 40 mins to get the 5 subs. The guy in front of me had a 30 sub order and so many grub hub and uber eats drivers kept coming in to pick up online orders; plus other people kept coming in off the street to get a sub. The phone kept ringing and the lady wasn't answering the phone. LOL She shut all the online food delivery services off because they were too busy. It was kind of funny actually.

I moved out of Illinois and moved to Florida but the one thing I probably miss the most about Chicago is Vinnie's.. I would get a Vinnie's Special on the sesame bread with hot giardiniera or the Italian. Definitely a local feel and great service I love that sandwich shop! I like Bari and D'Amato's too but Vinnie's hits the spot always!

Was looking to try a new place and Vinnies was amazing. I am not Italian, but the shop owner reminded me of every one of my friends Italian mothers, making the best food and making you feel welcome. 10/10 sub, and 20/10 experience

Vinnie's Sub Shop is such a throwback and coming in here was nostalgic of the Italian deli in my neighborhood growing up. I don't know what took me so long, but this mom and pop shop is well run and very deserving of the great reviews. Can't wait to go back! There is a lot going on inside - a mix of the old with new. You see framed black and white photos and vintage cans on one wall, shelves with chips, stand for The Reader and ads/promotional posters. Service is very warm and the subs are fantastic at competitive pricing. I had tried another business that advertised D'Amato's bread, and you pick up how fresh it is immediately! My turkey and cheese sub was soft inside with flaky crust, and the giardiniera was added a whole new layer of flavor.

Great neighborhood sub spot with great people running it. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a quick, delicious lunch.

Must have been an off day at Vinnies today. I ordered two subs - the Vinnies Signature sub & the Italian Veggie sub. Both were pretty tasteless, bland. Must have forgotten the spices, herbs. I had to add my own salt, pepper, mayo, vinegar at home Disappointing...

This place is still good. But this last time I ordered the turkey sub and it seemed they are very skimpy on the meat. I don't always notice. But there is a lot of bread for the little amount of meat given. Granted it's price decent for a 9" but still.

COVID-19 UPDATE: Happy to report that Vinnie's is open and cranking out some of Chicago's best sandwiches. Darlene's got everyone practicing social distancing while the masked "sandwich ninjas" Omar and Luis do their thing at an incredible rate!

Arguably the best Italian sandwich in Chicago. Everything on the menu is amazing. I live in the neighborhood and go regularly - I have not had a single bad experience or bad sandwich. Every ingredient, from the bread to the meats to the cheese etc., is high quality. Lady running the register is the best. Highly recommend.

Fantastic old fashioned spot for a great sandwich. The owners are so kind and welcoming, as if you're family. The bread is baked fresh by the bakery down the street. Definitely come by here if you're craving a good sized sandwich (especially their special) on some fresh crusty bread.

Great menu of classic Italian & American subs. This is exactly what I was looking for. That pesto mayo is amazing!! Super nice woman at the register. Ordered, paid, & left in less than 2 minutes. Huge 9" or 12" subs. I paid $10 for a sub & bottled water.

Vinnie's, you have a new fan! 9" sub for a $6.49 or so is a fantastic price for a quality, handmade sub. Believe it or not, I can't remember the sub I ordered but it was pretty good. The bread was so crunchy and worked well for the sub. The meat was fresh and tasty. And the hot giardiniera that I topped it off with was amazing! It's a simple review for a quick, easy lunch spot.

This place is SO good. Great local spot for a good sandwich and the prices are very reasonable. We did pickup. The staff was very friendly and our order was ready very quickly. A great small business to support, would definitely recommend!

Grabbed these subs before heading to the beach and they were so good ! The meat , cheese , and bread is so fresh and I loved that the bread didn't get soggy during transport! The customer service was smooth and fast !
