4 Best Day Trips from Rome

"This is a clean, modern hotel conveniently located a short walk from Sperlonga's beaches and ideal for a short, one-to-two-night stay. Rooms feature simple, modern furnishings, air conditioning (which isn't guaranteed at hotels in this area), a TV, and a minibar with complimentary soft drinks. The cheapest rooms have sloping mansard roofs that could be problematic for tall guests; the nicest rooms have a small terrace. The property has an outdoor pool and jacuzzi, and a buffet breakfast is included in the room rate." - Laura Itzkowitz, Arlene Gibbs

Virgilio Grand Hotel

"How did it strike you on arrival? This is a clean, modern hotel conveniently located a short walk from the beach and ideal for a short, one-to-two-night stay. What’s the crowd like?It draws budget-conscious travelers who want to be close to the beach and enjoy all the comforts of four-star accommodations. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Rooms feature simple, modern furnishings, air conditioning (which isn't guaranteed at hotels in this area), a TV, and a minibar with complimentary soft drinks. The cheapest rooms have sloping mansard roofs that could be problematic for tall guests; the nicest rooms have a small terrace. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. The bathrooms are equipped with hydromassage showers but no tubs. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Wifi is free throughout the property. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The property has an outdoor pool and jacuzzi, which is a nice alternative if you get tired of the beach. A buffet breakfast is included in the rate. Bottom line: worth it, and why? This area isn't exactly awash in great boutique hotels or even reliable chains, and this property fills that gap. It's not a hotel anyone dreams of staying in, but it's a good option if you want to stay near Sperlonga's beaches." - Laura Itzkowitz

A Perfect Stay in Paradise 🌊||Our time at the Villaggio Beach Hotel in Sperlonga was nothing short of wonderful. The staff was more than accommodating, making us feel welcome and cared for from the moment we arrived. The pool is fantastic, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious.||But the true highlight? One of the most beautiful beaches in all of Italy, just steps away — soft sand, crystal-clear water, and breathtaking views. This is the kind of place you never want to leave. We’ll be dreaming of coming back!

Virgilio Grand Hotel is a beautiful hotel located the hidden gem of Sperlonga on the water. Giuseppe, the manager, ensured that our stay was incredible and it most certainly was. The attention to detail and welcome nature of Giuseppe and the staff created a five star stay for our family. The Virgilio private beach club was perfect for relaxation and summer fun I the crystal waters of the Mediterranean. We are lucky to have chosen this hotel in the charming seaside town of Sperlonga. Jonathan and the front desk team helped with our day to day needs. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend Virgilio Grand Hotel!

Elegant, very friendly staff, fabulous breakfast, wonderful swimming pool. Excellent room cleanup daily. Very close to all the beach fun. Massage therapist transported me to a nother dimension! |We were there with three little ones and it was a huge challenge for our two rooms being on opposite sides of hotel. We booked months before our arrival and I suspect they attempt to control noise level with this arrangement. Also, unlouvered floor windows on the third floor attic room created a safety hazard for the kids. No hot beverage option in room.

Highly recommend this hotel. The central location made it super easy to walk into town. We had chairs rented at a separate beach club through family so we didn't use the hotel beach but I'm sure it was great. The pool is beautiful and quiet and the rooms were clean and well appointed.

We stayed here for two nights in 2025 driving up from Caserta. The hotel valet was super helpful and immediately took care of the luggage and took our car to the underground garage. The front desk, the hotel restaurant staff, and the beach club staff were all extremely attentive and gracious to ensure our stay was enjoyable. ||The pool area is lovely and very spacious but the beach club is where we spent most of our time. The hotel runs a quick shuttle service between the hotel and the beach club so there’s no need to use your car while you’re here. Our hotel room was spotless and the bathroom was spacious. All the photos on their website are very accurate and current!||The center of town (two blocks away) has lots of restaurants and plenty of shops. We would absolutely choose this hotel again if returning to the area!

Great 3 night stay in beautiful Sperlonga. Hotel personnel is helpful and accommodating. We had an executive room on the 2nd floor and it worked perfect for the three of us (two adults with a 10 year old), larger groups may want to consider multiple rooms. The room was spacious and clean, air conditioning worked great, we had a small balcony, the room was clean and functional. Decor may have been a little outdated, but we didn’t really care, in general the hotel looks upscale and inviting. Pool was nice, also considering many hotels in Sperlonga do not have one it was a nice to have for our son ( we would have rather been at the beach). The hotel lido is beautiful, clean with spacious umbrellas and lounge chairs. I have seen some reviews about the prices, but having grown up and vacationed in Italy often, I can say this is a very luxurious set up, with full service restaurant, which is what you pay for., the shuttle goes back and forth continuously, with no breaks until 7:00 P.M, which is an amazing service. The water at the beach is clear and has a beautiful turquoise color, as is typical of this area. Sperlonga is a gem, it is absolutely beautiful, right next to the hotel there are stairs that take you to the top part of Sperlonga, it is a bit of a climb but the amazing views are worth it, and the little town is something out of a storybook. Breakfast is OK, cakes were lovely,, our son liked the waffles. Warm items do not always get refilled, but you can ask for more. Would absolutely recommend!!!
