I got the ham and biscuit starter. It came with three biscuits with a lot of Virginia salted ham. These little biscuits were so delicious. They were delicate enough that you had to handle them carefully or pieces would fall off, yet they were so moist and flavorful, I can’t stand a dry biscuit. They put a healthy amount of ham on them which made for a good ratio of bread to meat, often times places don’t have enough meat on their sandwiches. They came with a pickle slice but I was disappointed to find out it was a sweet pickle, I prefer a good dill pickle. I also got a piece of their peanut pie which is like a pecan pie but with peanuts. I originally tried to order take away from the counter in the lobby but it was a madhouse of tourists buying postcards, peanuts and dessert. There seemed to be no order and people were just standing around trying to figure it out. There was also too many children and elderly people, I love children but when the parents let the roll around on the floor and act up, it gets bad. I ended up getting a table and while the waitress was nice when she greeted me, it was downhill from there. I didn’t mind her attitude, I would get tired of dealing with all those tourist in such a little town, but the table around me were getting fed up with her. I would go back for the ham biscuits but not the service, but I understand, they have Tourists Fatigue.

We found this place while we were out and about, and saw it had been featured on TV. We ordered the buffet for 1 and also the liver & onions off the menu. The sides with his liver & onions were the mashed potatoes, and yams with hush puppies. On the buffet I tried the fried chicken, fried okra, deviled eggs and the cabbage. I have to say I have never had cabbage the way that it was cooked here before, but I loved it. It was like the whole leaf of the cabbage and was cooked with some collars to give it that sweetness. I'm definitely going to try to make them that way next time at home. We liked everything we had. We walked in on a Sunday late afternoon in the summer and were seated right away. The server was very friendly as well. And of course we had to buy peanuts from the gift shop before we left.

Google
This was truly a unique experience and we popped up solely for dessert. We were seated quickly and the waitress was friendly enough. We did order hush puppies - not impressed. They were not homemade. They came with a pimento cheese which was really kind of flavorless. I ordered peach cobbler and my husband ordered apple pie. The peach cobbler was good, nothing spectacular, the peaches appeared to be from a can. The apple pie had way too much cinnamon. The coffee was fantastic, though. The cashier had no personality and laughed at us for a reason I'm still not sure about. It's apparently a landmark, was on TV, but there was no small town charm at all.

When my party and I arrived around 1 pm on Saturday, August 9, their waitlist process was easy and only involved about a 15 minute wait. Our waitress, Kathy W., was friendly and efficient. She made us feel welcome and answered all our questions. The food was good and served in a timely manner. I ordered the meatloaf with collard greens and macaroni and cheese. The meatloaf comes with brown gravy. The collard greens has ham in it. The macaroni and cheese was delicious. The sweet tea was decent. I’m glad I could experience this famous place and hope to be back again.

Stopped in for Lunch. They have a large Retail Shop. The place was clean. Being a chef I was not impressed with the food. I have had better cafeteria and airplane food. We did not finish our meal. The Chairs are horrible - see my picture.

I haven't been to Virginia Diner in at least over 20 years. My dad had a doctor's appt so we decided to stop for lunch. Rachel, our server, was efficient, pleasant and amazing!! She suggested the Hot Chicken Sandwich which three of our party ordered. They said it was good but quite messy. I ordered the 2 Catfish platter, with carrot souffle (DELICIOUS!) and Brunswick Stew (pretty good). The catfish was perfectly fried, and seasoned but just a little too salty for me. One person in our party ordered the Double Decked Grilled Cheese on Rye bread. Well, the sandwich looked okay but the bread to cheese ratio was really off. 4 thin slices of cheese melted on 4 THICK slices of bread, the dryness of the bread overwhelmed the sandwich. She asked for a side of thousand island dressing to help it BUT she ended up leaving the majority of the sandwich. The highlight of the meal was the lemonade with mango and the carrot souffle. Now THAT was worth the trip! The next time we decide to take another day trip, we will visit again.

Google
This was the most quaint diner, although very spacious. The food is spectacular! There's much heart that goes into preparing it. A very warm and friendly atmosphere. My husband and I stopped there during our travels home from VA back to GA. I highly recommend this place. A small town down home feel in a small town.❤️

Google
Stopped in for breakfast here. Every item from our dishes both looked appealing and tasted amazing. This is definitely a top tier place to grab breakfast. The people are friendly, the food is spot on, and I couldn't think of much to improve if I tried. The croissant was amazing, and the French toast was some of the best french toast ever had. Very affordable too. Overall if you're thinking about coming, I highly recommend it!

Yelp
I went Nuts over the pie. The menu is complete but stoped for pie and coffee. Great food and excellent service! A must stop location if in the area.

Yelp
This is THE iconic diner you have to go to. Even if you don't traverse 460 regularly, it is WELL worth the drive from Richmond, Hampton Roads OR even a detour from 95. This was on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives for a reason-this is the epitome of good ole Southern cuisine. Their Brunswick Stew and Ham Biscuits with a dessert of Peanut Pie is by far my favorite. The service is ALWAYS warm and prompt. The feel of the restaurant is like... that small hometown diner that you know all the servers at or that small place you go regularly-even if it's just a quick one time stop. Trust me-you need to go here!

Yelp
Went out for a ride on the bike and decided to stop for dinner. We did the buffet and let me tell you everything was amazing!!! The fried chicken was seasoned well, had crispy skin and juicy meat!! I am not a big fan of liver but their liver gravy was amazing!!! Make sure to get some of the Carrot casserole!!! The servers were friendly and attentive. The seating is typical of and dinner but you will feel comfortable and welcomed!!

Yelp
We wanted to know what was the big talk about this spot. My son and I, are always chasing places that have great fried chicken, and they didn't disappoint. Place was extremely packed, but we didn't have to wait long to be seated. Place is deceivingly big, very clean, and inviting. This is also a buffet style, but can order from the menu as well. I ordered the fried chicken meal (not a fan of the carrot soufflé). Kids had burgers, mom had a shrimp dinner, and the hubs had the biscuits and gravy. Everything was delicious! The banana pudding was CRAZY good! Loved the little store and walked out with some extra snacks. Our server was extremely attentive!

Yelp
Amazing buffet for lunch. Don't forget to get some peanuts!! Staff was very professional and we had a great time.

Yelp
When we travel from St Louis to the OBX of North Carolina, we normally have lunch at Surry Seafood on the river near Surry, Virginia on our second day. This time, we wanted dome of the Virginia Runner peanuts form Virginia Diner in Wakefield. We have long been customers of Virginia Diner for these great peanuts and have ordered them as gifts for friends and family for over 20 years. We decided it made sense to have lunch there on this trip. Unfortunately, we will not be doing this again. The peanuts remain on our preferred list, but this won't be a place for a return lunch. Our food was mediocre, to say the least. Ms T ordered the Fried Chicken sandwich. This is deboned fried chicken. You have a choice of fried chicken breast or what we assumed would be dark meat. Ms T specifically did not order the breast meat but that is what she received and it was dried out. This was not a good sandwich. I ordered a pulled pork platter which was also disappointing. I, perhaps wrongly, assumed this would be smoked, barbecued pork. The best description would be crock-pot pork with barbecue sauce. It had never seen a smoker. I guess I have been spoiled by the delicious Eastern Carolina barbecue, this just did not cut it. They have a buffet and I suspect that would have been a much better choice. So our rating is for our meal, off the menu. You may have a different experience with the buffet.

Holly F.

Yelp
We always love stopping here, but today it was a huge disappointment. I know the restaurant was very busy but it took 15 minutes for anyone to even come to our table. We got the buffet and the food was not good like it usually is. We wasted $40 on 2 buffets and we didn't even eat a whole plate each. After this experience we will not be coming back.

Yelp
This five stars for the waitress! 3 stars for the food! We did the buffet for25! I recommend order from the menu! The rolls , ham , collard , carrot casserole and chicken livers 5 stars ! The fried chicken and cat fish was 3 stars! This place was the right lace to visit with my siblings for my 60 th birthday! But what made this meal so great was the trash talking and brash waitress! She fit in so well with our group! She told us that she would come back and ask if we needed anything! As she was walking away, I yelled hot sauce and she yelled back "I said I would see what else you needed when I get back ! " omg! I just shit up and said yes mam! She made us all feel like family! She helped my sister with the birthday cake , that my sister brought! The waitress brought 5 plates and hinted that she was getting a slice! lol! I loved it ! She was excellent and with a lot of attention and attitude! The place looks nice but it's has lost some of its charm! It's more like a corporate business than I family run restaurant ! I have been going there for over 50 years and no familiar faces ! All in all love that waitress! The food bar was also hard to navigate! Only one side ! Love the waitress!

Yelp
I walked in and the staff were very welcoming and very nice. The bathrooms were very clean and the overall atmosphere was very pleasant. We were sat down immediately, even though it was crowded, and our waitress was very sweet. Once the food got here, I just had to take pictures because it looked like it was straight out of a movie. The food tasted so good I had to box up most of it. The store on the side with various nuts and other food products was very nice and speedy. Overall, greatest classic southern cooking.

Yelp
Came here to try peanut pies- never heard of such a thing and they were all right. Fried chicken was delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
Lovebtheir Southern fried chicken on the huffet line. Crispy with just a smudge of breading. The candied beets and green beans compliments each other. Since this was a buffet, I had to try a small serving of each item on the bar - didn't make it to all. The small serving of pot roast finished me off-:))))))) And there aas plenty to go - maybe next trip. Bright and welcoming ambiance to set the mood for... chomping!!! At the checknout counter - the red skinnpeanuts were calling:-)))) For me, its always worth the trip for some good ol'e fashion southern fried chicken.

Yelp
The food was delicious, service was excellent too. The most ambiance was the people. Overalls everything was in A class manner I look for eating here again. Good job

Yelp
Apparently this is a Virginia institution... I grew up heading to beach in summers, but rarely did we take route 460, so this was a first for us. I must say from a southern cooking perspective this place certainly lives up to its reputation. No, I'm not talking about refined southern cooking - I mean simple, home cooked country style food. They type you'd expect grandma to make. First, opted for the ham biscuit sliders which were divine - a nice bite size portion for those who don't want full size biscuits. Next, I had the chicken and waffles with maple bacon sauce. Personally I prefer just simple maple syrup, but this was plenty good as served. My suggest would be to mix with some syrupy to get a little more sweetness. Service was fine - slow in the way that most places should be in the countryside (normal speed). We came as the Sunday church crowds gathered, so the place was mighty busy. They did have a buffet option which will be great for those in a hurry or with small kids /picky eaters. Don't forget to grab any number of peanut products on your way out the door.

Yelp
I've meant to stop here so many times But coming from the 757 as always on the left and I always miss it but not today and it was not because I had to just use the bathroom even tho that was definitely part of why I stopped The bathrooms are clean and easy to find There's a little shop in the front before the restaurant which carries all the specialty Virginia diner peanuts as well as gourmet popcorn and old fashioned candy They also have a few unique chocolate you don't find anywhere else They also have a grab and go dessert area Along with barbecue carrot soufflé coleslaw peach cobbler and banana putting they also have a cooler with meats like bacon and ham The staff here are very helpful and very polite They have a full-service restaurant as well where you can get amazing looking milkshakes and a good lunch or Hearty dinner On the way back I might have to stop for dinner however today I just did desserts and I got the salted caramel hot chocolate and a Lemon cooler cookie which has coconut and macadamia Definitely delicious!!

Yelp
It's a famous diner that everyone knows. Came on Sunday for lunch there are a lot of people dining after church. There's a store front selling Virginia peanut products and the back is the restaurant, quite large space nothing fancy just a typical diner set up. There's buffet option and also a la cart, buffet has a lot of options as well I would go for buffet next time as it has less wait time. Good selections from a la cart menu, and they made to order so it took a while if you have time to wait. The portion of the food are huge. None of us could finish what we ordered. Food is delicious. Service was slow, we were not given straws and nowhere to find our waitress.

Adrienne G.

Yelp
My family typically stops here on the way home from the beach. This trip we had January as our server, and she was fantastic (obviously a big hit and friendly with all the regulars too). The lunch buffet was plentiful, with my daughter loving the catfish and the carrot soufflé, and my husband loving the green beans. My youngest is super picky and only wanted biscuits, which January was nice enough to include in the basket of rolls (that come with the buffet) when I asked about them.

Yelp
We used to live in Suffolk. Driving down 460 made the trip less complicated. I have driven passed VA Diner many times, stopped once for peanuts. Today, we drove from Richmond for Sunday dinner. It was just like being back in my grandma's kitchen table. We started with the ham biscuit. It was delicious and the pickle truly topped it off. The chicken golden, crisp and perfectly seasoned. The collard greens were good as was the spoon bread. The service was good and the server was attentive. My friend for the buffet and they had gloves, which was perfect to cut down on potential Covid exposure. He thoroughly enjoyed the buffet. My only complaint was the floor. It was a little slippery and needed sweeping from food particles. They were good about wiping down the tables clean but the floor was a mess. The quality is the food is worthy of four stars for sure.
google avatar

John P.

Yelp
The food was good but my wife's pulled pork was cold. The service was great. The atmosphere was nice. We had the pimento puppies, fried pickles, hot honey chicken, Mac n cheese burger, and the pulled pork platter. The sides we had were green beans, mashed potatoes, fries, Mac n cheese. The food tasted great minus the pulled pork being cold.

Yelp
Ate here on the way to the beach with family. Today we are a party of 6. We arrived at 1145am and were seated right away. We had the buffet and it was hot and fresh and cold side was fresh. Staff was very attentive and polite. Price was fair for quality and a buffet. Everything was clean inside and out. Parking is a little tight. There is also a mune for anyone not wanting to eat from a buffer.

Yelp
Excellent food and service!! We love visiting the Virginia Diner. The dining room could be a bit more homey, but other than that it is a great restaurant and great experience!

Yelp
The VA Diner is a landmark. This is a stop for us on our way back from the Beach. This is a true diner with all the southern comfort food one would want. We stopped for lunch today; our selections included--Chicken and Waffles-great flavor and filling;Pork BBQ sandwich- it was great, I LOVE the vinegar based BBQ !!YUMMY; others had the combos with chicken, pork chops. Update--once again on our way back from the beach . I will leave another review

Yelp
We went there for Thanksgiving dinner and it was amazing. Great food, excellent service and very relaxing. It was awesome that they had 2 buffet lines going at same time, was very easy to get your meal and trays were always very full. It will become our thanksgiving dinner tradition from now on. The ferry ride over was great as well. We didn't have a reservation for 5 but the wait time was about 5/10 minutes, not bad at all. Thank you to the staff, cooks and crew that made this an absolute pleasure.....
google avatar

Nicara B.

Yelp
Of course we are here because we saw this place on the food network. It was about 40 mins away from home so we took this lazy Saturday and went for the drive. It was pretty good. We got the fried seafood platter and the combination platter. It was pretty flavorful. I wasn't a fan of the spoon bread or the pulled pork. I don't like a pork that has such a vinegar taste but it wasn't horrible... just not for me. I absolutely loved the ham biscuits and the candied yams. The seafood flavor was out of this world delicious. The breading was crispy and "chefs kiss" delicious. I could come back just for another taste of those scallops, the fish and the shrimp... and that fluffy biscuit. The fried chicken was fried perfectly as well.

Yelp
For as much as this place was hyped up, I was really expecting more. The waitstaff was lovely and super friendly, but that was the extend of my appreciation for this place. They have a large dining room, so we were seated quickly, but it took a while for the server to come over and take our order. After that, it took a while to get our food, and when we did get it, it was cold. The fries tasted super soggy, old, and flavorless, and the burger was fine, but also not warm and nothing to write home about. The best part was the pie, which was rather small. It wasn't expensive, but it was more expensive than it was worth. They also have a store in the front where they sell confections, which might have been nice, but we didn't feel like spending more. I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you're just coming for the pie, to be honest.
google avatar

Cammy K.

Yelp
Yum! I haven't been and years and it was great to see that the diner has been updated. We had the breakfast buffet and the trick is to get there early to beat the crowd.

Yelp
This place is such a find! I came here on a business dinner after a long day counting inventory at one of our warehouses. I was told the food here is consistently good and BOY were they right. The fried chicken was very tender and full of flavor. I definitely wanted more than what I had. The mashed potatoes were creamy and an awesome pairing to the chicken regardless of both having their own gravy. THE CARROT SOUFFLE TASTS LIKE BIRTHDAY CAKE. I didn't expect that at all, but my waitress, Ashley recommended it and it was spot on. SERVICE: Speaking of Ashley. She was so awesome and accommodating. She was hospitable and willing to give recommendations with a light spirit. Her service in combination to the great food is why I may become a weekend regular lol. AMBIENCE: This place gives me a more lightly set Cracker Barrel vibe with white walls to bring the place up in energy and vibrance. They even have their own little store in the front as well with am array of peanuts and other delicious treats. Overall, it is a winner for me and I'll definitely be coming back.

Yelp
I had heard about this place from a lot of people and wanted to give it a try. So I could try more things out I chose to get the buffet so I know most the dishes were not prepped just fresh so take that into consideration. They had lettuce salad w/ topping, a vinegar noodle salad, banana pudding, bread pudding, peach cobbler, carrot soufflé, chicken and dumplings, Turkey breast sliced, ham, cheesy potato/broccoli casserole, deviled eggs, fried chicken, fried fish, meatballs- think that's it. My favorite - chicken and dumplings hands down was delicious. The dumplings were more like wide flat noodles which I'd never had before - but it was still very tasty. All the desserts were tasty nothing was spectacular. And I enjoyed the deviled eggs a lot. The vinegar noodle salad I did not care for at all. Fried chicken was quite dry. Turkey, meatballs, casserole thing were all fine but fairly mediocre. The service was excellent though! And staff was exceptionally friendly. For a diner it's not bad and a fun place and the buffet was cool to try the different foods. I would visit again but wouldn't go out of my way to visit.

Jeremiah C.

Yelp
Awesome place. Great service and the food was amazing. Good atmosphere. You just try the desserts!!

Yelp
My family and I were in town to get our passports done when we can across a rather large sign stating this local diner was on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives. So naturally we knew where we were going for lunch. Nonetheless, this cute local Diner was everything it was hyped up to be. We LOVED it. So much so that we plan to visit again to try other food they offer. They have a cute little "gift shop" as well to pick up some items / bakery items. The food was amazing. We ordered the ham biscuits and the chicken pot pie this go 'round. It was perfect for a cold snowy day. What're you waiting for? Go check this place out!
google avatar

Steve P.

Yelp
I was told as passing through to stop in here. Staff was very friendly and tentative. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Wow the chicken is really good. I bought a can of peanuts. I love peanuts and these are great, non oily sea salted peanuts. Well worth the stop!
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
Staff is extremely rude. Their phones were more important than the customers. We had a couple people in our group that wanted their country ham. The Food is overrated. I don't know what Mac and cheese they gave Diner, Drive-In and Dives but the noodles were overcooked and it just tasted like flour. My 6 year old niece was starving so we got her the Mac and cheese and then left. We found Pinos # 2 down the street. The staff at Pinos was so nice and the pizza was yummy!!! Thank you rude staff the pizza is better than the overrated food you serve. I guess I am thankful for the poor customer service.

Yelp
Wow. Our fav stops on the way to the beach. Decided to skip the buffet and order ham biscuits to go. It's been an hour. They are slammed ... post Covid I suppose. But ham biscuits? To go?! Come on Very sad, but happy to see business is booming. Crossing Virginia Diner off out must go list. Oh ... update. When my wife asked what was going on ... the cashier YELLED AT HER. Called her a LIAR about her place in line Sorry guys no one calls my wife a liar and lives to tell.

Easton D.

Yelp
It was a cool little diner and gift shop they had a cardboard picture of guy fierei to take a picture with. I ate the buffet, and it was delicious. We had an amazing waitress she was very kind and brought us everything we needed. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
After all of the hype from advertising and flashy billboards posted up every mile, I couldn't help but feel extremely disappointed. This is nothing short of a great value version of Cracker Barrel. Me and my wife waited an abnormal amount of time just to get our drink orders let alone our food. We ordered a starter, a meal and dessert although we received our dessert first and then our starters came with our meal. The staff was extremely friendly but the food was as bland as the food they serve on a ship. I would even venture to say the food on a naval ship is slightly better! If the staff wasn't so friendly they would be sitting at a one star. I would not recommend.

Yelp
Having visited the Virginia Diner since 1961, I must say that I think their time has come. The food has gone off the rails poorly. The canned peanuts are good but it's so terribly expensive. Does it really cost that to can a can of peanuts? I don't know. As we always do, we stopped on our way north a week ago and on our way south today. On our way north I order to have biscuits and got a small can of peanuts and it was just under $30. I didn't check my receipt which is my bad , but at $3.50 a ham biscuit and $10 a can of peanuts not sure how it came up to $30. The sesame sticks in the can of peanuts were mealy. So the can ended up going in the trash as we were in PA when I opened them. On the way back I ordered liver n onions (with onion rings, spoon-bread and hush puppies). The liver was burnt and tough, there were no onion rings, and the spoon-bread and the hush puppies were room temperature. The "onions" as part of the liver and onions consisted of three rings of onion with one being the skin! I returned my meal which was not received well by staff. Tsk tsk. As it's getting worse and worse, we won't be returning, after 62 years.

Yelp
The Virginia Diner is a pretty well-known place to eat in this area. Thus, it was in the perfect location to meet friends we hadn't seen in a while. The store front is full of peanuts. They're canned and flavored in numerous different ways. We were a little surprised there weren't more souvenir type items to buy as gifts for others but peanuts are popular around here. There were 5 of us meeting for lunch. Three ordered the hot roast beef sandwich. Kudos for the roast but the brown gravy was a little too salty and wasn't the best. Potatoes were okay but not real hot. Collard greens were delicious. The breaded chicken was good but the white gravy was overly thick I thought. Of course, all of these reviews are based on personal opinions. We were surprised to see fried green tomatoes and had to order them. We were a little disappointed that they weren't as flavorful as others we had tasted. However, we were glad we had an opportunity to stop and do a little tasting.

Yelp
We were staying 1.5 hours away and drove to visit this restaurant and store and I'm so glad that we did! The fried chicken, collards and mashed potatoes were so good! Our server, Jevonne, was truly the best! She made us feel like family! Good food, great service and cool store! What more could you ask for??

Yelp
Fun place to stop on our way back from the beach. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was very tasty. We loved the hush puppies with pimento cheese. My husband had the fried chicken and said it was great. The biscuits were awesome! I wasn't a fan of the breading used for the onion rings. Kid friendly place, and a great pit stop.

Richard W.

Yelp
This place. What a complete disappointment. Paid $16 for a tiny fish sandwich (more like a thin cracker), and 4 onion rings. My wife's chicken tasted like flour soaked in burnt grease. Be mindful about advertising you place on Diners Drive Inns and Dives. You aren't worth the drive or the effort. Eat at McDonald's, you'll be happier.

Derek T.

Yelp
Food and experience was great. We did not get the buffet, but it looked worth it for the $20 price. Food was hot and fresh. Server was friendly and met our expectations. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area.

Yelp
If you like peanut and local oddities, this is your spot. You will find every flavor you can imagine! We have been traveling the entire country and sampling local fare. They had all off the different menu choices here! Parking was tough in a big rig as we needed to be able to pull more to a side to not block others so we kept our visit brief and only grabbed some peanuts!
google avatar

Yelp
Had lunch at Virginia Diner today and sadly the food didn't live up to their reputation. Service was ok but the food was lack luster and the sides were cold. Looked forward to it for so long only to be disappointed.

Babs G.

Yelp
Food was not very good and the service was terrible. We had to keep asking (5 times) for condiments to go with our meal. When the waitress finally brought them we were done eating what we could eat.

Yelp
On a road trip with my dad we dropped in this famous place. Did not eat in the diner but would love to next time passing through. Upon entering you'll find a country store with some great tasting Virginia peanuts of many flavors including Old Bay seasoned peanuts! For the most part, there was much Southern Hospitality, people inviting you in, holding doors Etc. Except for a lady in front of us in line to pay who was deciding to be a social distance cop and complaining about it being cramped and was even rude to dad for being too close to her in line(we both rolled our eyes). He was fine, she was being ridiculous. It was a little crowded but you know what? You don't have to come in if you can't deal with it! These people have a great business and people are excited to come in. I recommend you drop by when in town! Over all it was a cool experience and I give a three and a half(rounded to 4).

Yelp
Stopped by Virginia Diner on the way to the beach since I recognized the name. The buffet was not available on that weekday afternoon so I ordered the catfish with two sides. The waitress was efficient but when I asked for recommendations she said that she doesn't really eat anything in the restaurant. The catfish was good but the sides were unremarkable. If I lived in the area I might come back to try the buffet but I would not make a special trip to return. Points off for trying to "buy" positive reviews.

Yelp
Awesome food loved the brisket great friendly people and service was super quick very unique atmosphere loved it all.

Stopped for lunch on a busy Friday for the first time in a couple of years. We noticed a lighter atmosphere with some younger employees. Our ham biscuits and Brunswick stew were both excellent but served separately at a higher price rather than as a combo plate. The sweet potato side dish was very good and the collards have changed with more stem pieces and flavor a bit more bitter than the last many years I have been coming here. My apple pie with ice cream was excellent as before and the lemon chess pie was also very good! The sweet tea was still good and the peach flavored tea was tasty. The service was friendly and timely and overall the value was there for the money spent for good food.

Yelp
Very friendly waitress, good service. My kids and grandkids loved the food from the menu and the buffet. My food itself was delicious. My son ordered two more of the sandwich meal to take home. Very clean and family friendly.

Yelp
Enjoyed this place. Wanting to go here for a long time, since I heard it was on the Guy Fieri's drive inns and dine show. At first my wife and I was not impressed with the set up as it had a buffet line. Anyhow we push through our prejudgment and sat in to dine. For appetizers we got the hush puppies and the fried green tomatoes. Both were ok. I'm from the south so this is what I grew up eating, so I might be harsh on this evaluation. Then we were recommended to get southern fried chicken and fried catfish; we got both, and was blown away. Very good dish. Coming back again; will try the buffet next time to try out more dishes.

Yelp
We were driving past this diner this morning to get to Suffolk and I am thankful that we decided to stop by here! I was surprised by the cozy and modern interior and the restaurant had a great atmosphere! When you arrive, we had the choice between eating from the buffet or picking something off the menu. I ordered pancakes and these were by far the best I have had from a diner. There were big, soft, and cooked perfectly! The sausage and eggs were great as well. If we lived near this restaurant, I would gladly come here more often. One of my favorite things about this diner is this store's peanut shop! They have peanuts, fresh cake, cinnamon rolls, and much more! It's especially great to take friends and family to that are out of town.
