Virona Restaurant & Grills

It’s surprising that I haven’t reviewed this restaurant yet. Whenever I think of grilled fish, this place immediately comes to mind. I always plan to try the nearby restaurants, but somehow, I end up walking back here. There’s always a smiling face - a friendly ‘Kerala Kakka’- calling me in and serving the best food at the best price. Last time, it was lobster! Another cool thing we do: whenever we go sea fishing, we bring the fresh catch here, and they grill it with their special masala. It tastes amazing- super fresh and full of flavor. Anyway, I absolutely love this restaurant!

All the food was good and delicious. The pita and sauces were good. The red sauce had some eggplant and was yummy. All the salad and different seafood was worth it. Price was reasonable.

The fish market is located indoor and in the center of the building, so make sure you walkaround to choose your fish/prawn/calamari etc in fish market first then you go to the restos affiliated with it. Dont go straight into the resto. There is no live stock, all frozen and you can bargain with the seller, fun! The produce is fresh and clean so please be gentle when you bargain with the farmers. This time I tried order from Ameera stall and have them cooked in Virona resto. The service is quick, the staffs are friendly, the food is good. They grill the prawn and fish alright, not overcooked. The location is clean. I like it! However, for the first timer like me, I'm expected that they'll brief me in advance what sauces that they have. When I'm about to finish, I just found out that they have many variations of sauce for the grill! You can see in my pics, they only use 1 type of sauce which is red sauce. I'm disappointed why the waiters did not offer me options prior..because it's boring when you eat many with one sauce only. That's the only negative I had. Overall, it's a good experience. There are many other restos in fish market so I'll definitely try other ones. The place and the ambience is nice. The food is really good and flavorful. I love the service. We enjoyed group meal here and many times i went already here with my family.

You start by selecting your fresh seafood directly from the market or display — fish, crabs, prawns, lobsters, whatever catches your eye. Then, you choose a nearby restaurant or food stall to cook your seafood just the way you like it — grilled, steamed, stir-fried, or in a spicy sauce. You pay based on the weight of your seafood, and at the restaurant, you’re usually expected to order a few sides like rice, vegetables salads, and maybe a cold drink like cola. It’s a casual, fun, and delicious experience where the seafood is as fresh as it gets! Virona makes the best sauce in the area.

Excelent service, amazing fun atmosphere and very delicious food. 4 x mixed fish tray 315AED for a group of 19 people was perfect.

Virona Restaurant & Grills , the squid was perfectly fried, grilled prawns were delicious, and grilled fish though a bit spicy for me, was still really yummy. We also sampled a small grilled octopus since the larger octopus was too much for our group. Overall, the seafood was fresh and tasty. Will be back for more !
