ACE Sushi Bar has been added inside the Coop. The sushi is AMAZING!!!! Today was the first day and it’s so exciting to have this wonderful option in our town. We love sushi!♥️ We tried the California Crunch Roll and Tempura Crunch Roll! The best I’ve experience! Give it a try! I highly recommend.

Google
Incredible and very diverse selection. Love the fresh sushi and the locally sourced goods. Quite pricey but for the organic and fresh local items it makes sense. The entrance always has fun events posted and the staff are very friendly.

They don't sell a huge variety of brands (including wine) but the stuff they do sell is good. The prices are very high but I suppose that's just how things are these days. I love their prepared food and their salad bar. I always take a loaf of bread home too. They have a nice little cafe area where you can sit and eat right away.

Google
They had a pump & tools for bikes outside. Beautiful seating area outside, garden area, a place to get something to eat inside. Lots of good stuff inside. Prices on somethings are not too bad. Handicap parking & entrance.

So impressed with the cleanliness, organization, and variety. Friendly, helpful, and accommodating staff who went above and beyond directing toward our travel destination. Thank you all! Joyce Gibbs (author)

Google
This grocer offers quality produce and ingredients. The meat and cheese selection is vast and plentiful. There are many gluten free and vegan options. Additionally, the deli and hot food bar has many options for a take out lunch.

We stopped here for lunch. The food is good and healthy. We had the chicken noodle soup, a ham and cheddar croissant and molasses ginger cookies. Yum!

Google
My favorite Coop in the driftless area is a must stop. Awesome produce selection with alot of local products. Great salad bar, sandwiches and salads. Nice area to eat your food with reusable silverware available. Also has two electric vehicle charging spots a bonus.

Yelp
Hot and cold food options available, AM & PM daily. Typically 3 new soups daily. Pre-made hot food, boxed/packed at deli.

Yelp
Fresh organic produce, hot food bar similar to Whole Foods (little smaller but it's Wisconsin not NYC) Excellent signage for local vs non local produce. They have fresh milk! Like the cow it is out back fresh. It's Wisconsin after all Incredibly clean and the friendliest staff I've ever met. There is an inviting seating area and good coffee. Highly recommend! Yelp
An amazing grocery filled with lots of local foodstuffs. Friendly people, fresh, local veg and meat, easily accessible. I wish I had one of these near my house.

Yelp
We haven't shopped here much because we thought the prices were too high. However, recently the prices at other local stores have increased dramatically and the quality seems to be decreasing. This caused us to look for other options. A few days ago, we checked out this store and found it surprisingly competitive price wise and the quality of their products far exceeded other local stores. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, without being overbearing. They are easily wheelchair accessible. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
We love visiting food co-ops when we travel, so we stopped at the Viroqua Co-op on Monday AND Tuesday when we were in the area. We were pleased to see that the co-op has an electric car charger and solar panels on the roof. Going inside, the produce was beautiful, the bulk section was huge and well stocked, and the store had many items on the shelves that our co-op doesn't carry. The deli had a wonderful selection for our lunch. We love that you have local kimchi on the reuben sandwich! The staff was helpful and pleasant! What a great store!

Yelp
Having experienced Food CoOp coast to coast. I would put this one at average, with some familiar rubs. Cashiers can be a bit overbearing with fund-raising. Fare can be disappointing on occasion, Hot bar could use a few degrees, coffee, same-same.

Yelp
Such good service. So many options. So many things to look at. Just such a great place. The little shops inside are fire. 10/10

Yelp
One of the best Food Co-Ops I've been too. Highly recommended. Lots of local products . I look forward to shopping here again.

Yelp
We stopped here to see if they carried Omission beer and they did! Turns out they carry a ship load of products. This is a very large store for the size of the town it's in. I wish we had purchased things for dinner to make on the grill instead of keeping our reservation at The Driftless Cafe. Yes, regardless of it's hype, we had a lazy waitress and an over cooked duck leg and a undercooked tenderloin. Next time we visit the area, we will shop at the Viroqua co-op, for sure.

Yelp
What's better than having an organic store in your town. Nothing! Wish we had one of these in Green Bay. What a lovely store with so many choices. Beautiful produce, cheeses, deli, so many choices...we even loved that there is a greenhouse out front....beautiful plants. Also found organic items that I can't find at Woodmans in Green Bay. Viroqua is lucky to have such a store. I even found a LaCrosse Beer from Pearl Street Brewery called Deux Decadence that I really enjoy.

Yelp
This co-op is amazing! I stopped by during a weekend visit to Viroqua and was pleasantly surprised by the extensive offerings, including absolutely delicious and well-priced baked goods, an exceptional collection of cheeses, and all of the meat-free frozen and chilled items that my heart desired. Though I was pregnant at the time, my husband was seriously impressed by the beer selection--there's nothing like getting to build a six-pack of local and regional beers, and he appreciated the many options and price points. It's definitely pricier than, say, your local Hy-Vee or equivalent, but you're paying for better quality and contributing to the local economy. And if you're looking for a convenient lunch to enjoy on the patio, or a freshly prepared smoothie or coffee beverage, they've got your covered as well! Oh, and I know with COVID it's not as appealing, but I get the sense that their bulk bins are usually a huge hit. #ThankyouThursday

Yelp
Great spot to buy organic food. It's well organized and I like that they highlight local food. Check it out!

Yelp
AMAZING! Always a happy, friendly, and clean environment. Workers are always happy to help you find anything and request items to try. Great place to get some amazing organic and local groceries. If you have time, I totally recommend eating at the deli. Yum!

Yelp
What a great spot for groceries! Stopped here for lunch on a long road trip and it was the best food quality-wise for miles around. Lovely staff as well. I would recommend coming here to anyone.

Yelp
What a wonderful shopping experience! The Viroqua food co-op in Western Wisconsin is a gem. The shop was so good we came back a second time for more today. We were in Coon Valley to fly fish and visit our son who is an intern at Kickapoo coffee. Every employee at the store is so pleasant and helpful and kind. I dislike grocery shopping so much because so many experiences are so awful. When people/employees are happy, and I see prices that are fair, shoppers are willing to stay longer, and will spend more money. I want to thank Laura and your co-workers for making a family of shoppers feel good and thank you for the health tips! *** I'd also like to point out that our Milwaukee Outpost co-op on Capitol is more expensive and less caring and kind. The organic local corn is AMAZING!

Yelp
If I ever make the leap to living in a small town, Viroqua will get serious consideration just so I can shop at the co-op and enjoy all the wonderful seasonal and local foods. Many are fully organic too, and almost none are overpriced- generally cheap by city standards anyway. They have a great little dine in section up front that's easy to miss- go ahead and grab some hot food from the food bar, or a good cup of coffee at the coffee bar, and have a seat and eavesdrop on the locals. You'll likely hear interesting talk of organic farming, land stewardship, local politics and the like. The store itself is pretty big, with a very well packaged and put together feel- it feels like shopping at a chain supermarket in all the good ways, but none of the bad. Over at the hot food station the soups are labeled with a color tag indicating ingredients- looks just like what you'd find at WF or TJ's... except for the final ingredient listed here that they'll never have- a heart! _ _ / \/ \ \ / \ / \ / \/ If whole foods got a soul and had a true purpose beyond increasing shareholder value, I bet it'd want to become just like the Viroqua Food Co-op.

Yelp
I love coming here whenever I visit my family in Richland Center and need some wholesome and organic groceries. It's quite a drive, but I think it's worth it. This place has expanded in the past year or so and is much larger than it used to be. It has many items that you may only find in organic/specialty groceries in larger cities, among them are local items from the Driftless region. There's also a salad bar, deli, and soup bar with a large dining area. There's another section of the building which I haven't ventured to, but maybe on another visit. The staff is always welcoming and helpful. Will be making more visits here whenever I'm in the area.

Yelp
A woman working checkout the other day mocked me when I said "may I have a receipt? " Totally anomalous, right? I said it pretty normally too. Also, every time I get in her line she rushes me through like it's a major inconvenience for her to wait on people. Overall, the vibe is friendly but I gotta vote on my feet.

Yelp
Came in hungry and late. Found sandwiches that taste amazing along with good snacks like dolmas and snack-sized cuts of cheese in the case next to the deli. The price definitely reflected it, but if you are local, you can get a Co+op membership which will help. We were met with a smile both coming and going. Great customer service at checkout. Enjoyed everything we got.

Yelp
Had preordered vegan wraps and burritos for an important event, the morning I was to pick them up they had no clue about the wraps or even how to make them. The burritos were not wrapped individually in half as requested. No one was interested in taking responsibility for this error.

Nora S.

Yelp
Stopped here after visiting the Driftless Used Book store. Grabbed lunch and ate it out on their outdoor patio area. Then went back in to grab groceries for dinner. Most of the produce we picked up was locally sourced and quite delicious. Wish we had this kind of grocery store near us!!

Yelp
Having recently made the change to gluten-free living, our daughter in San Francisco learned about the Viroqua Food Cooperative on Yelp and gave us the info. It is in our own backyard and we never knew it! Thank you Yelp. Last weekend I made my first trip to the Co-op, and it won't be my last. What fun! A large, new, well-lit spacious store with friendly staffers who were very helpful in answering questions about new-to-me produce items. In addition to the wonderful produce section, I also appreciated the 'gluten free' labels on the shelved items. All in all, definitely a 5 star experience.

Yelp
First let me tell you. I have enhanced peripheral awareness, or ADD. My medication gives me drymouth, and also kills my appetite. Essentially, it turns me into a food snob. Driving down hwy 14 on a fine spring afternoon I knew my body needed some nourishment; not because of hunger, but because my mouth was especially sticky. Enter Viroqua Coop via my local friend's recommendation. 3 Perfect naval oranges, bag of crisp grapes, and 1 yummy bulk bag of trail mix later, I stumble upon the Deli. Their Veggie sandwich looked temping, but after much perplexity, I went for the Chicken Salad Sandwich. A lot can go wrong with chicken salad, but I sensed greatness from the counter-man. Without asking he sliced a massive tomato slab, and layered the lettuce on top of a fresh baguette. This was maybe not the perfect chicken-salad sandwich, but close. Not too much mayo, ground bits of walnut and enough veggie bits to add crunch. If I could rate this sandwich, i'd give it 4.5 stars, just because it was only very slightly too dry because of the large size of the baguette. However, this was easily remedied by eating crisp red grapes in combination with the sandwich. Killer. The oranges were perfect too. Overall, this place sells great products, and I know because I worked at an organic grocery for a time. Definitely the place to stop when driving through Viroqua en route to morel hunting.

Yelp
Moving to Viroqua, Wisconsin was easy. What's not to love? Especially the Viroqua Food Co+op! So pleased to see every vitamin, mineral, probiotic, nut, cereal, frozen or fresh fruit, veggie & meat be carefully chosen. Truly the real plus is what the locals bring to this already exceptional store. Thank you for your love & due diligence.

Yelp
5 of us stopped by hungry on a beautiful Spring evening. We ordered sandwiches, salads and desserts. Then we sat out on the patio and marveled at the beautiful weather and wonderful food. Next year, we will plan our trip so that we can stop again.

Yelp
I have traveled to the Viroqua area for over 30 years now, and VFC is a "must" visit everytime I am here. I remember the days of the old co-op on Center St--the "new" co-op was astounding when it opened some years ago. For the locals, VFC is a great place to pick up organics & staples. For the traveler like me, the food bar and the sandwich bar are a welcome alternative to fast-food franchises or roadside diners where selections for vegetarians are few. We stopped in yesterday and had organic breakfast biscuits with egg & cheese (sausage & bacon were also options for the non-vegetarians--and yes, all organic). Kickapoo coffee, and a fresh scone from the pastry selection rounded out our breakfast. When we leave Sunday, we'll have them make a couple of sandwiches, grab a six pack of Spotted Cow and head back east. If you're in the area or just passing through, VFC is a treat.

Yelp
We stopped to get some supplies for our weekend in the area. We had plans to barbeque, but ended up getting our dinner off the salad bar. I had a seasoned pulled pork, and my wife had chili/garlic/lime chicken. We both made a salad. Our food was delicious. I could cut the pork with a spoon, it was so tender. Anna's chicken the same. We continued shopping for gluten free items, and found a major part of their inventory was dedicated to allergy sensitive individuals. Finally, gluten free carrot cake. Best ever

Yelp
Awesome selection, kind staff. Great selection of Kickapoo coffee, definitely a new favorite. I'll be sure to return if I ever pass through Viroqua again

Yelp
I was extremely excited for lunch at this co-op, however after ordering my meal, I was disappointed. I have no problem spending a little extra cash on organic/ locally sourced meals, but with higher quality ingredients, I expect a higher quality in taste, and to be honest, everything I had was average. The sandwiches were a bit overpriced for their size/taste and my iced maple coffee was also disappointing. The store itself, on the other hand, was fantastic. Definitely the biggest co-op I've ever been to. The wide variety of local and organic selections was refreshing.

Yelp
Very good Hot Chai Tea! The hot bar and salad bar are also to die for. I worked here for 8 months and all I can say is everything I had from here was freshly prepared and served professionally. Try the fresh raw Wisconsin honey root beer that's my favorite!

Yelp
Among the few groceries I've ever described as "breathtaking," and in a town of 4,000, no less. Bright, spotless aisles filled with natural foods, with variety to rival any big-city supermarket, while a hot bar and sandwich stand offer ready-to-eat food for the dozen-odd tables. Much of the astoundingly fresh food is proudly labeled as having originated within Vernon County: in June, that included parsley, arugula, berries, yogurt, eggs, and trout. The staff are glad to help in whatever way needed.

Yelp
Love, love, love this place! I found all kinds of fun and unusual produce items here, including lemongrass, which I used in a Thai soup. I also saw multicolored beets, turnips, rutabagas, turmeric root, fresh ginger, a variety of mushrooms, and lots of other colorful, fresh fruits, veggies, and fresh herbs. They carry pasture butter, organic milk in glass bottles, raw cheeses, and lots of other real foods. Gluten-free grains there included quinoa, millet, buckwheat, and I think amaranth too, along with a nice selection of GF crackers, cookies, frozen pizza crusts, etc. I really liked that local food items were marked with clear labels indicating what farm they were from. One of my favorite spots in the region!
google avatar

Yelp
I love when I can afford to eat organic anythings, and this is where I would tell anyone to go when in town,IF they can dig in a deep pocketbook. That is to say that some items can have a high price. However, many prepared foods available are Excellent and worth the tag that goes with it. The staff are super cool! Check the on sale items, local offerings, and hell, you are in the say Cheese capital of the world, Smile! There are more organic farms in the area than you can find in most states,so depending on the time of year, you could stroll through a wonderland of offerings. Wi Fi, and seating, warm friendly people and small town charm to top it off. I know I started out this review with a price beware rant, but I really love this place!
google avatar

Adam W.

Yelp
Ditto on what everyone else has said, plus: they have a solid selection of local craft beers. All co-ops should be this rocking.
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
Amazing selection of products from fresh to frozen and very nice folks in the shop. Given their location, they could raise prices another 15% and that's why you should support local co-ops!!!
google avatar

Gabrielle P.

Yelp
This is the only place to eat in Viroqua. I was in this small town one day for business and I couldn't find anything remotely interesting to eat, BUT then I stumbled upon this place! This co-op is really well put together! Great selection... makes it hard to decide on just one thing to get! We grabbed our food and sat outside and ate. It was a great experience!
google avatar

Theresa R.

Yelp
OMGoodness! My husband wanted to stop by and see the store and we decided to get sandwiches there in the deli for lunch. We are not generally your organic type but I got the "ham I am" sandwich and he got the "kitchen sink" sandwich. Both were amazing and prepared pretty quickly. We shopped around and bought a grand selection of cheeses and fresh fruit to take to a Packer party later in our day. Then we found the "sanpellecrino" lemon and orange drink we were served in a quaint Italian restaurant in Malibu just recently...a pefect shopping experience and we even ran into a good friend as well. Definitely will go back there for more sandwiches and more sanpellecrino soda!

Leto A.

Yelp
Interesting I am the first local to review this place.... Anyway I am a member of the Co-op... and we do about 75% of our food shopping here. I love my store. The local sourced items take a priority here are all top quality... The variety we have in the store -- for the size of the store is excellent... There are only a few things here and there that they do not have (due to space).. or I am not going to pay what they want for it.. ;) -- sorry guys.. you know some of those prices are insane... But over all this and its big cousin co-op in Lacrosse are the best places to food shop in the Vernon/LaCrosse area-- Period. Good Healthy Food... Local Fresh Vege.. Top end organic Meat/Cheese - and a very diverse, and outstanding Beer/Wine/Liquor section (Viroqua Co-Op has one of the best most diverse beer sections that I have ever seen in this area-- and its tiny.. but packed with quality from top to bottom, just like the rest of the place. This the health food of my youth .. all grown up... with a common sense approach to the future--- What it sells is only part of the good it does for you... It is a healthy community store. It does and can be quite a busy little bee hive of a place.. sorta wish they would of built it a tad bit bigger...

Yelp
Such a wonderful place. Kind staff and a welcoming atmosphere. What a great choice of coffee and such colorful and bountiful produce. I always been greeted so kindly upon entering and departing and I could seriously sit all day in the cafe area just enjoying life and one of the great sandwiches.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the most amazing small Coops I have ever been in. The staff is always smiling and helpful.

Kathy W.

Yelp
They have a really great fresh fruit and veggie selection for an organic store which I Love!, and a really great variety of lunch items that are fresh and unique. How ever when I do go in there I feel that other people and some employees are snobby and rude. It is usually pretty crowded when I go in there and I feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.

Kathy O.

Yelp
A wonderful whole foods, organic, local community store -- and the staff is fantastic. Also, the customer service is top-notch. If you do have a problem, ask for a manager and I am sure they will fix it. We are really blessed to have such a great food co-op -- it goes a long way to making Viroqua the amazing community that it is.

Verna M.

Yelp
I love this place. Try to stop here as much as I can when passing through. Always excellent prepared sandwiches, salads, coffee, baked goods, and produce. :)

Fuscia Q.

Yelp
This place is so nice. You can get something to eat at the deli and enjoy it in the cafe area or outside. They feature local products like milk, cheese, butter, locally roasted coffee, ect. You can get T-shirts or a shopping tote that helps support WDRT the awesome local community sponsored radio station. There are bins you can bag your own grain, cereal, oats, popcorn, sugar, candy. You can even bring or buy a container and fill it with oils, or liquid soaps. I bought a pound of Kickapoo Coffee Harvest Blend, OMG, so smooth, like a baby's cheek. I thought the prices were fair, the same or even better than Walmart. I hate to even compare them to Walmart, of course it is better than Walmart even if it was twice as much because it has a soul! I wish I lived in Viroqua, cuz I'd live in that store. But I got a super soft, Viroqua Coop T-Shirt. Maybe one day I'll settle myself into a cleft of the driftless region. Until then I'll wear my soft 100% cotton American made shirt to bed and dream dreams of coops, CSAs, rolling hills, and endless farmland. I am from Wisconsin after all :)

Yelp
This is my favorite place to have lunch in town!!! The food is delicious. The soup was yummy, love the 3 options. I love that the food is locally grown as much as possible. Great place!
