Viroth's Hotel, Siem Reap, Cambodia - Explore & Book

"Teaming up with ASMA, Cambodia’s brightest young architects, Viroth’s Hotel pays witty tribute to the country’s brief flowering of modernist architecture with a double-retro bow to the tropical Bauhaus revival. Think Kampala, 1958: diplomats’ wives, remittance men, a table of quiet, intent fellows plotting the overthrow of the regime. But the crisp white lines of the 2 wings are softened by drooping vines and burgeoning evergreens, while public spaces flow gently into one another, from lobby to lounge to bar to pool, all furnished with vintage-style Scandinavian furniture. A bold winding staircase leads up to an equally bold walkway connecting the 2 wings, while underneath a pool, tiled pristine white, shimmers in the midday sun. The 35 rooms are little oases of Tropical Modern, with more clean lines and top-of-the-range fixtures and fittings, each decorated with a few well-chosen and fun pieces of bric-a-brac (chopped palm fronds, mounted sickles, door knockers). Ideal for the young and design-conscious, and surprisingly comfy for everyone else. Highs Bright, witty, elegant design and lots of welcoming public spaces, with greenery sprouting left and right A sociable bar, decent restaurant and serene spa with fruity treatments Lovely staff and a lovely manager, all keen to make anyone feel at home without being obsequious. Many remember your name An easy 20-minute tuk-tuk from Angkor Wat, and you'll be given a breakfast basket if you want to go for sunrise Lows Bathrooms are compact and functional rather than lavish, and the towels were a bit stale Lying by the pool puts you slightly on stagey display from the lobby and lounge areas, which sit on lower ground It's not the quietest place on earth" - Nicolas Buchele

I initially booked the sister hotel, Viroth's Villa. Due to the emergency maintenance at the hotel, they moved me to this hotel. They are incredible staff, even though the hotel has no elevator. This is a vintage hotel, they also have a collection of vintage cars. |The staffs Saiyon, Thanit, Brass and the rests of them welcomed me and I felt like home. They gave me a complimentary pick-up service in one of their vintage cars. They also remember my name which most hotel staffs don't. They went to extra length when I was looking for a compression socks for my long flight back to US. Brass helped me to find a store that sells it. The a-la-carte breakfast is excellent. They prepared a picnic kind breakfast for my Angkor Wat visit to bring with me. I had the chance to try the salt water pool also, it was clean and the water temperature was perfect. The room was very clean and artistic. Overall this hotel is very wonderful, I will stay here again if I visit Siem Reap.

Even before arriving at the hotel, the staff provided outstanding service. They helped arrange our airport pick-up (even though it's an independent service) and were extremely kind throughout. From the moment we arrived, the attention was personal and warm. The rooms were spacious, with well-equipped bathrooms. Breakfast is à la carte but very quick and efficient. Some members of the family used the spa for massages and were all very pleased. The pool area was also very pleasant and peaceful.|Overall, a highly recommended stay.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! My stay at this hotel was perfect. Everything perfect. Welcome, professionalism, cleanliness, friendliness, efficiency from all the staff without exception. The breakfast was top-notch and the restaurant was the best place where I dined during my days in Siem Reap. Perfect location, beautiful and quiet rooms. Check-out day was truly a sad moment since I had to leave this place. A final gesture of availability and courtesy was a late check-out that allowed me one last swim in the comfortable pool. Many hotels should learn from this establishment how to manage a hotel. Best regards.

I wish there were more stars to rate this hotel. Everything about this hotel and its wonderful staff was absolute perfection. The design of the hotel is gorgeous - lovely furniture, artworks and design features everywhere you look. The room was spacious and beautifully thought out with a nice big bathroom. The air con was quiet and the bed was super comfortable. The pool area is beautifully clean and because it is not a big hotel it was never very busy. We had delicious poolside food on several of the days we stayed here which was quick to come. Communal areas and rooms immaculately clean. Great a la carte breakfast and excellent coffee too. I had a great massage in their lovely spa which was very reasonably priced. The friendly and very attentive staff here go above and beyond to give you a good time (you even get sprayed with mosquito repellent when you go out in the evenings). Other hotels should send their staff here for training to see how it is done. Having stayed in many good hotels over the years (including some that are much more expensive) this one is really one of the best. Cannot wait to return here! Absolutely nothing could be faulted - it was quite literally perfect! Our only regret is that we didn't stay for longer.

Perfect location! Near shops, restaurants, and night market. Staffs were professional, very caring from the time we arrived, greeting us with a welcome drink and each time upon our return handing us with cold towels and asking how was our day. All greeted us by our first names each day. Rooms were well appointed. Special mentioned to Soknea ,Sokpah were very engaging and always with a smile on their face!!!!would highly recommend the place! Booked Angkor Wat tour with the hotel, choose between tuktuk ride or old fashioned car for a fancy experience. We chose tuktuk and the guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating.

The absolute best hotel of our out trip. The staff were so kind and attentive from our initial welcome to our final breakfast. While there is plenty of great food in Siem Reap, the restaurant and pool bar at Viroth’s were our favorite! The breakfast specifically, was amazing! We also had three spa treatments— each of which was incredible. We also took a vintage car tour which was the highlight of our stay!

The hotel is ideally located in town, it is quiet and still only 1 block from the waterfront, you can walk everywhere in town. The design of the rooms is what I would call ‚retro 60s‘, very stylish. Breakfast is very good. Pool and surrounding area is beautiful, very green.|Above all, the staff (everyone!) staff is unbelievably friendly and very engaged for the well-being of the guests. |Angkor Wat is ca. 15-20 mins by TukTuk. |I can fully recommend Viroths Villa and if I come back to Siem Reap, I will stay here again.

“Do a lot of people cry when they leave?” Apparently, an American lady cried last week. I understand you, American Lady.||Leaving after six days at Viroth’s Hotel, where everyone cares whether you’ve had a nice morning, what you’re doing this evening, whether you’d like an umbrella (yes) or a cold towel (also yes), it’s like departing your village for the Big Wide World. Scary! How will I survive? Who will tidy my room five times a day and turn down my bed? Who will make my little french toasts just the way I like (need) them? If I need to book a Spa treatment in the real world, will I need to give more than an hour’s notice? Will I have to make my own packed lunch if I want to go on a day trip? Surely, better just to stay here forever.||But we couldn’t stay forever, and on the morning we were leaving we noticed that many of our close friends (i.e. the hotel staff, namely Sokha, Reaka and Many) were not working this shift. “Maybe they arranged it like that so we didn’t have to say goodbye.” Yes, this must have been what happened. Sure, arranging the shifts like that would only make sense if we were the sole guests in the hotel, but the way the staff treat you, it’s difficult to remember that you aren’t. ||The architecture and design of the hotel makes you smile each time you look out the balcony or walk down the spiral stairs. In itself it’s so beautiful that even middling service would make for a memorable stay. Pretty special, then, that the kindest and most attentive team of staff I’ve ever met happen to work there too.
