I really wish I had something more positive to say about this restaurant, because the food was genuinely delicious and our trainee waiter was incredibly sweet and attentive. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience left a lot to be desired—and frankly, I’ve never felt more uncomfortable in a dining setting.
From the moment we walked in, we were not greeted but rather questioned—“Why are you here?” No “Hello,” no “How many in your party?” Just an abrupt and unwelcoming tone. The host sat us with an attitude, setting the tone for the evening.
Shortly after, another staff member brought water and bread, and she carried the same dismissive and irritated demeanor. She slammed down plates and glasses—not just at our table, but throughout the restaurant—and made it feel like serving us was a burden. She only refilled one water glass despite two others being completely empty, and again, did so with clear attitude.
Our trainee waiter was the only bright spot. He picked up on how uncomfortable we felt and genuinely tried to turn things around, even engaging in small talk to ease the tension.
There was also an odd situation with one of our drink orders: we were given two alcohol options, selected one, and were then told the drink couldn’t be made with that specific brand (not type) of alcohol—not because they didn’t have it, but because the bar manager didn’t think it suited the drink. If it wasn’t acceptable, it shouldn’t have been offered in the first place.
By the time our food arrived, we had been waiting over an hour, despite placing our order early on. We received our drinks about 20 minutes before the food, and during the entire wait, we noticed several unfriendly stares and uncomfortable glances from multiple staff members—again, with the exception of our waiter.
Ultimately, while the food and drinks were excellent, the overall atmosphere and poor service made it a very unpleasant experience. For a restaurant charging high-end prices, the service should absolutely match. We couldn’t wait to pay our bill and leave.
