"There's Something Fishy About This Fast Food Living so close to the North Sea, Dutchies love their fish. They eat it raw, baked, steamed, poached, grilled and fried. While often found on dinner menus, seafood is especially popular as a fast food snack, sold at fish shops throughout the city. At Vishandel Centrum on Haarlemmerdijk, near Central Station, €4 buys you a hefty portion of fried kibbeling or lekkerbek—hot, battered cod or whiting served with dipping sauces alongside. Bite-size chunks of slightly greasy kibbeling make a great portable meal slathered with garlic sauce or a mayonnaise-based remoulade similar to tartar sauce, easy to consume while strolling along Haarlemerdijk. Lekkerbek is more of a stand-up affair and you're likely to see upright Dutchies grabbing a hot bite if you arrive at meal time. In addition to hot snacks, Vishandel Centrum sells plaice, mackerel, herring, mussels, shrimp, squid and other fresh and prepared seafood to take home."
Fresh, super crispy, delicious kibbeling and fried mussels. Lightly spiced, crisp batter. Great haring. Friendly staff, shop full of locals. What’s not to like?

A friend recommended me to go and try the Kibelling. It was definitely worth a try. I was fortunate to get there at a good time. I was 3rd in line and waited around 5 minutes for my order. It was freshly cooked and was still hot when I took a bite into mine. Fresh tasting fish and not too much money for the amount you get. The line was 10 deep by the time I got out and being there for 5 minutes. So it’s definitely a tourist attraction.

Some of the best fried fish I’ve ever had. So light and meaty. Perfectly cooked. The sauce was on point as well.

Stopped here with the Eat Europe foodie tour. It was a lovely stop. Usually I can get some pictures but we pretty much devoured everything instantly and I didn't want to get in the way of the feeding frenzy. The Kibbeling and the Haring were both outstanding.

Vishandel Centrum, located near the canal bridges in Amsterdam, is a popular spot for enjoying traditional Dutch seafood dishes. Famous for their excellent kibbeling served lightly battered, these fluffy fish bites spot a vibrant golden color.
The shop also offers a variety of other seafood delicacies. The kibbeling's perfect crunch on the outside and soft, moist interior make it a standout dish.
In addition to kibbeling, they serve a range of other specialties, including herring, smoked eel, and shrimp croquettes. Although I didn't try them, they looked fairly enticing. The shop's bustling atmosphere and quick service make it a good no-frills snack stop.

One of the locals there said that this was the best choice for kibbeling, which is basically white fish (cod) deep fried in bite size pieces and served in a tray with tartar sauce. It was okay but as it was my first time eating this local cuisine I couldn’t say it’s the best.

Excellent place where a lot of locals go to. The staff is friendly and the variety is just huge! There are so many kinds of processed fish (salted, smoked etc), different fish-based spreads and so on. The highlight of this place for me is the kibbeling dish - small pieces of deep fried fish in batter, with a nice sauce. It’s similar to UK style “fish” part of fish and chips except that the fish bits are small and the sauce is good. The price is very reasonable and was around 10 euro for two descent size portions. This fish products shop is a must if you are a fish lover and worth visiting 100%

Best in Amsterdam! Kibbling was freshly cooked and delicious the herring too! Affordable too. If I lived in the Dam I'd be eating here all the time :)

Yelp
Great little fish shop. We stopped here on a food tour and got the salted herring and the kibbling. Both were delicious (exclaims my husband - I am allergic to shellfish so I couldn't try the food but I got to watch him thoroughly enjoy the food!). He said the herring melted in his mouth and the kibbling was flaky, crispy, divine. We would absolutely return here.

Yelp
An outstanding fish vendor near where we stayed in Amsterdam. The kibbeling, haring, and broodje haring were all great and the prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended!
