Yelp
TLDR: 2 star hotel that tries to pass itself off as a 4 star. If you've stayed at a true 4 star hotel, this place will be a disappointment.
Thank GOD we used points, I'd be livid if I paid out of pocket for this place. I'll keep this as concise as possible.
Pro: Decent amenities. Has the potential to be a 4 star resort, but falls WAY short due to cons.
Cons:
-WAY overpriced for what little you actually get. The resort is actually located next to the freeway and is nestled right next to an industrial office park. Check Google maps: You turn onto "Napa Valley Corporate Way" right before "Bordeaux Way" to get to the hotel. I was shocked. Also, this resort is about a 15 minute drive from downtown Napa. So if you're hoping for some nice restaurants or tasting rooms, be prepared for a drive or Uber, or eat/drink at their overpriced restaurants/tasting rooms. This was not an issue to us because we were there for a family event and we don't drink.
-TERRIBLE customer service. Check in is at 4pm, but at 4pm, they kept telling us that our room isn't ready. She told us they had a "full house" the night before. ON A THURSDAY?? I find that hard to believe because the whole time we were there on a long weekend, the hotel was a ghost town. There were 5-7 other families who were also waiting to check in, no one else's rooms were ready and people were getting antsy. The concierges then proceeded to try to appease us by handing out glasses of free Champaigne to everyone. I kindly declined. By 4:30pm, when I asked to address this issue with a manager, my room magically became ready because they gave me an "upgrade" (which is only a standard room with a free bottle of wine). Shouldn't EVERY room have a bottle of wine? It's wine country, FFS!
-our shower faucet didn't work (see video), it just kept turning and turning and turning but no water came out. I could have opened a time portal with how many times we turned that faucet knob. If you smacked it, there was a 50/50 chance the water would turn on. This is something you would find at a Motel 6. Our toilet seat was also cracked. C'Mon!
-No one answers their phones. I called ALL the pre-set lines to report our broken shower (front desk, concierge, housekeeping, etc). We eventually just gave up.
-Their "Five Town Grocery" does NOT serve to-go food around dinner, forcing you to use one of their overpriced restaurants. We ate protein bars for dinner instead.
-Valet is free but when it's busy, they take forever. Their valet also doubles as bell boys, so they're always busy. You're better off self parking.
-they're currently undergoing heavy renovations. Coffee shop and pools were not open. So why are we paying "resort fees"?
-there was a loud machinery noise coming from above our room. We initially thought it was a truck from the parking lot, but as we went to bed, it continued all night. Even with ear plugs, I could feel and hear hear the vibration through my plugs as I lay my head on the pillow.
-beds and pillows were terribly uncomfortable. You could practically see the concave imprints on the mattress. I woke up with neck pain every morning.
-room decor is outdated.
-their Spa is grossly overpriced. Their cheapest 50 minute massage runs almost $200 and goes up from there.
I know someone who used to work at this hotel and lives locally in the area. This hotel is known locally for its high turnover rates, terrible customer service, and lack of staffing. A couple years ago, all of their experienced staff left for other opportunities at other resorts, including their HR manager. Their current staff is young and inexperienced, and it painfully shows.
This is consistent with their yelp reviews; read the 4 star reviews vs the 1 star reviews. A lot of their 4 star reviews are 1+ years ago, their 1 star reviews are all recent.
I would NOT go back to this hotel, and do NOT recommend this place to others.
