We visited Vista House during Memorial Day weekend while touring the Columbia River Gorge and its many breathtaking waterfalls. This unique building stood out amidst the forested surroundings—almost like a beacon overlooking the Gorge. It’s a striking and unusual stop, and the panoramic views from here are absolutely spectacular. Parking, like many places along the Gorge, was definitely a challenge—especially during the busy holiday weekend. That said, it’s worth being patient and circling a bit if needed. There is a small parking lot, but it fills up quickly. Just be mindful that the roads along the Historic Columbia River Highway (Highway 30) are very narrow and winding. Drive carefully and take your time—this route is far more scenic than taking I-84 and adds to the overall experience. If you’re planning to see the waterfalls in the area, Vista House makes for a perfect stop along the way. Take in the views, snap some photos, and enjoy the historic charm of this little gem perched above the Columbia River.

Firstly there were not many people when we were there so parking was easy. However we were there when the actual Vista House was closed but you can still park and enjoy the view. The view of the sunset over the Columbia River was absolutely gorgeous. It is definitely a must see. Just know that the road to and from doesn't have any street lighting so it will be very dark.

Beautiful piece of architecture! The view of the Columbia Gorge was like no other. Make sure you plan a little extra time to enjoy the beauty of nature that surrounds you.

Google
It's really cool to see, but it's not a great place to hang out. There's a very small place to park around the building. I got there too early and wasn't able to enter the building, it opens at 10am to the public. I'm not sure, but you might be able to look out the top at the 180 degree view of the Gorge. It's really pretty and cool to see for a picture and run.

Google
This house offers the best view of the Columbia Gorge! The scenery is absolutely spectacular. It’s open to the public on certain days and has restroom facilities available. It’s free!

Google
This is an excellent view point to the Columbia River from a high elevation. You can see the river for a big picture. Inside the Vista House, you can use washroom, shop some souvenirs, and read some artcles to learn more about this area. The Vista House itself is also very beautiful. Strongly recommend to spend around 1 hour here when coming nearby.

Google
It’s a nice quick stop area where you can see the view of the Columbia river between two States. It’s a great place to take pictures with a friend or family that don’t need too much walking or strenuous activity to get a view! I like to go in early so there are great parking and had some great photos since pater on the van starts parking and covers some of the look out views. I like to note that after this area, I went ahead and drove over to Multomah Falls which also has great places for families and friends who don’t need alot of walking or hiking to enjoy the view. It’s just about 20 min.

Google
Beem coming here for years. Great view point a long the historic columbia highway. Sunsets here on a clear day are spectacular. The visitor center is fun to check out when open too. At night this is a hang out for the younger crowd. I definitely recommend stopping by.

Yelp
The Vista House is considered a "Top 10" Portland tourist attraction. It's definitely a place I usually take family or friends who have never been to Portland. When I thinks of ideas on "where to take folks for grand views" I usually think of "Vista House." Anyways, about Vista House itself and what to expect. I've been here on light days where not many cars were around, to busy 'the parking lot is full' holiday weekends. So parking can be tricky depending on when you decide to visit. You can come here for a quick pic and continue down the road to head to all the falls. Or you can park for awhile, inhale the fresh air, admire the the majestic views of the Columbia River Gorge, and stop inside the Vista House to discover the historical reasons as to why this was built in the first place for everyone to enjoy. Inside is the rotunda, black'n'white photos around every corner, knowledgeable volunteers gladly presenting its history, marble walls, a coffee shop, a little gift shop, and restrooms. It's basically a mini-museum that's free. Hope this helps!

Yelp
If you're in the Gorge, swing by Vista House at Crown Point on the historic Columbus River highway for some spectacular views. There's plenty of free parking. Sadly, the unique building itself was closed when we were there in May 2025, but that didn't stop us from enjoying the beautiful scenery. It's a fantastic spot for photos. Visit Vista House!

Yelp
Vista house is still remodeling and cannot go inside yet. Will save it for next time!

Yelp
Vista House At Crown Point, Columbia River Hwy, Oregon. Sept, 2024. Built in 1917, Vista House is one of the most beautiful scenic points on the Historic Columbus Highway. Situated on three acres and 733 feet above the Columbia River, Vista House was built as a rest stop observatory and as a memorial honoring Oregon's pioneers. Listed in the National Register of Historical Places in 1974, it is an example of German "Art Nouveau" architecture. In Sept., 2024, Vista House is currently open Friday-Monday, 9 am-5 pm, weather and staffing permitting. They close if winds go above 50 MPH. Their website (vistahouse.com) has a Weather Watch. In addition to some historical displays, Vista House has (1) a Gift Shop with items which are interpretive of the Vista House, the Columbia River Gorge, the State of Oregon, and the Pacific Northwest, and (2) an Espresso Shop with drinks and sweet treats. Note that you can still view the beautiful Columbia River Gorge from the parking lot, even when Vista House is closed. Come early in the summer or weekends as parking is limited.

Yelp
Such a stunning stop along the Columbia River Gorge. It offers incredible panoramic views - definitely one of the best overlooks in the area. The building itself is beautiful and full of character, with a bit of history tucked inside. There's a small gift shop and even a little cafe downstairs, which was a nice surprise. Parking was easy when we went, though I can imagine it might get crowded on the weekends. It gets little chilly and windy as well, so bring a light jacket

Yelp
My wife and I visited the Vista House while we were on vacation and I do have to say that the view is overwhelming! We took our Monocular and tripod and the views were amazing. The Vista House wasn't open to the public the day we stopped but looking through the glass I would definitely like to go in and look around. This is a beautiful place for some pictures as well.

Samantha M.

Yelp
The perfect stop before setting off on a day of hiking! Absolutely beautiful views of the Columbia River Gorge splitting Oregon and Washington! The gift shops had so many different types of merchandise specific to the Columbia Gorge, Vista House, and Portland, OR! The staff was so kind and patient! Absolutely lovely first stop of the day that set the day off on the right note!

Yelp
Another amazing place we visited here doing a tour and I love it. Visited here many times when I was younger wonderful memories, beautiful place.
google avatar

Elisa K.

Yelp
Great place to visit when in Oregon. Amazing views and quite accessible. No walk required to get to the view. Can go up the stairs through the vista house to get an even better view!
google avatar

Ana T.

Yelp
This is an awesome place to make a quick stop. Parking spaces are limited so I came very early when there were nobody around. It had the breathtaking views of the Columbia River. It was so beautiful. It was too early, so the Vista House wasn't opened when I was there.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
This is an easily accessible waterfall that you can hike to at water level, mid level from an overview, and on top of. There's a small bridge at the bottom of the trail with a nice view. There's a dedicated parking lot for the waterfall but it's not very big so expect a difficult time parking on weekends or after noon.
google avatar

Debbie H.

Yelp
Wow!! I'm not sure I have words for this b auto fully picturesque spot. A view of the Columbia River from every vantage point. The house itself is phenomenal. Plenty of parking and a easy, paved walk, for those who need/want it. The house itself is only open to the public Friday - Monday. Most definitely worth the stop.
google avatar

Lila C.

Yelp
Beautiful lookout place, you can see both Oregon and Washington, the views are amazing. We went inside the house to see more history, it was fun and well presented.
google avatar

Rashi T.

Yelp
Vista point is a nice gorgeous stop on your way to and from the Multnomah Falls or Hood River. Some of the best views of the gorge are from here. From the viewpoint, there are views east past Beacon Rock and the Bonneville Dam, while the Prindle Cliffs are directly across. On a clear day, you can see the top of Silver Star Mountain and also Sturgeon Rock peeking above Archer Mountain. They have a small exhibit , gift shop, restrooms and also a coffee stand inside . Parking is limited but people tend to go in and out fast so the wait to get a spot isn't that long . Word of caution -always carry a jacket to this place ,as it tends to get very windy here .
google avatar

Yelp
The Vista House was built in 1917. It's one of the most beautiful scenic points on at the Columbia River Highway on your way to the Gorge. It's a great place to stop if you're traveling out this way and want a nice look out. It's also a great option for elderly visitors, as there isn't too much walking involved and it is fully ADA accessible (just ask a volunteer for help). Easy parking, free access to the house and the second floor, bathrooms, an information desk, gift shop, and a small cafe. Overall, you won't spend too long here, maybe 30 minutes, but is a cool little building with a great big view!
google avatar

Yelp
This tourist soot is a bit challenging to get into as Waze is not pointing you the right spot. Better asked a police guard or a ranger if you see one along the road. We weren't able to check inside the vista house (t'was locked). But the scenery is amazing and great. I enjoyed the whooshing of the wind and the solemnity of the are. Several people checked this place but they leave after 10-20mins. Actually there's nothing to do here except feasting the view and the clear skies meeting the ocean. So I don't blame people leaving immediately. Several parking lot available here too. No entrance fee. If you want to check a good elevated view, this is the place! Mahalo for reading and happy juandering fellow yeeps

Yelp
One of the must see view stops along the Columbia Gorge. You can park and take pics and go on your way. If you wish to continue the drive along WATERFALL CORRIDOR, make sure you buy the timed permit pass, which you can buy 2-weeks ahead of your date. This started in SUMMER 2022, (MAY 24 to SEPT 4) and we were not aware of it, and same day timed permits were sold out for the hour we were driving. (It was available for 12:00 but we were driving at 10:00). If you actually want to go into the Vista House, check days and times, it's not open every day.
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
If you're in Portland or visiting, this is a lovely viewpoint to check out. My friends and I were on the way to Multnomah Falls so I decided to add this too since it was on the way. We came on a Sunday afternoon in late September so it was pretty packed but we were able to find a parking space easily. It was also very cloudy and windy but the pictures still came out nice (despite us girls having to fix our hair 1000x). The view of the Columbia Gorge was simple yet beautiful. You can also stop in the Vista House where there's a coffee shop and a gift shop downstairs. It really doesn't take much time out of your day to visit and you can also get some pictures in since the gray overcast actually makes for nice lighting in pictures. Definitely check it out if you're heading towards Multnomah Falls (which you should also visit)! It's really easy to get to, just drive right in and there's free parking. Since it's higher up, it's cooler and gets very windy but the views are beautiful.

Yelp
Amazing view of the river and area. It's a short ride up the hills and worth a stop. I stopped on the way to the falls and it was worth it. Everything is free.
google avatar

Yelp
This Vista House was built in 1917 and is a great spot to stop on while driving by the Columbia River Highway. THere's easy parking and free access to bathrooms, a gift shop, and small cafe. I would budget maybe 15 minutes max here. 30 if you want some cute pictures of the view! I wouldn't come here out of the way, but if you're driving to Multunumah falls, this detour is absolutely worth it! IG: QueenOfAdventureNYC

Yelp
We were staying in Portland near the airport. I had mapped out a day-trip loop heading along the Columbia River Gorge and then south to Mt. Hood. As the first leg of the trip, we were heading to Multnomah Falls, so stopping first at Vista House seemed an obvious choice (since it is closer to Portland). A caveat - Vista House and Multnomah Falls both open at 9 a.m. Given the crowding at the falls, you might want to consider going there first and back-tracking to Vista House. We arrived at Vista House around 8:50 a.m. The only downside to that was that (being in the Portland area) it was still gray and overcast. If you want bright and sunny conditions at this spot, you'll probably have to schedule it for the afternoon (based on my admittedly limited experience in the area). There was plenty of parking when we arrived, but I am not sure what it is like later in the day. It is free to enter, but we had to wait until exactly 9 a.m. In the meantime, we took photos from the plaza and road adjacent to the tower. The views down to the river are quite impressive. As an aside: the large ice-age flood that helped to shape the gorge had water levels higher than this site! Inside, they have some exhibits downstairs about the history of the site. It was a stop on the pre-interstate U.S. highway system back in the 1930s. You can also climb up to the roof-level plaza for slightly higher views. Overall, this was an interesting and worthwhile stop if you are driving through the gorge in either direction. It is just a short drive / detour from the highway.

Yelp
View views blah blah Come here for the great coffee. Large iced coffee is $3 and there was no extra fee for non-dairy milk -- looking at you Starbucks. $1 juice box. $0.15 taffy, and many snack options. Clean bathrooms. Air conditioning inside and fans downstairs. Cute gifts.
google avatar

Connor E.

Yelp
This is a great spot to stop for pictures and even just to look around. It over looks the boarder between Oregon and Washington. It's has a coffee shop and a gift shop downstairs.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
Such a beautiful view!! Highly recommend coming here at any time of the year. There's plenty of parking along the road. You are able to get views from various points, including the roof. It looks like you're viewing a painting. Days where the sun out are the most beautiful!

Yelp
What a piece of history, beauty, and culture. The natural landscape surrounds an elaborate fixture, a time capsule full of elegant marble and incredible vistas. The engineering marvel of the highway, the Vista House built in 1916, the unbelievable views of the Columbia River, and the lost history of the Native tribes who lived, fished, traded here all combine to make an unforgettable experience. Stop by when the house is open and use the restroom. It was built as a rest stop for the elite ladies who could drive here a century ago.
google avatar

Denise J.

Yelp
Beautiful views. As a California Native it is breathtaking to see. They have a gift store and a coffee shop. Our tour guide told us about the marble in the bathroom and how we just had to check it out... It was okay but definitely nice to use a bathroom in a building instead of at one of the falls.
google avatar

Adrienne M.

Yelp
Pretty Cool Vista point. A lot to explore here. It's about 800ft up in the air! The view is cool. You can see the 84 from here. It was pretty busy for a week day! Loved getting up, enjoying the air and the views. Oh the road that leads to this place is very narrow and just be careful driving it! Lots of motorcycles using this path! Stay safe share the road!!!!!

Yelp
I liked Vista House. For me, I thought it was a cool little stop to get out of the car and appreciate the views of the Columbia River Gorge. And visiting for the very first time...I felt like Vista House was a good starting point, like an appetizer so to speak, lol...before getting on to the main event of it all...Waterfall Alley! I was coming from the Portland area so for navigating along the 74 mile road of the gorge...I was ultimately heading from east to west. And doing my research and reading that this Vista House was well known as an observation point...I was happy to take some time out of the day for some worthwhile photo opportunities. I arrived here early in the morning. This Vista House was my first stop along the gorge before next heading towards Latourell Falls. I will say that I got caught in early morning fog. It was rainy and dreary early on but still, as I eventually parked my car and headed down towards the house and surrounding viewpoint...I got fortunate enough that the clouds slowly started to break away. Around the actual Vista House, it was closed off. I'm not sure if this had something to do with the virus pandemic, but I was okay with not being allowed inside. I was simply here for the scenic aspects, lol. I was able to park my car in a small lot before exploring around the grounds. It's hard for me to explain, but what I did was sort of climb on top of the perched wall in front the stairway case behind the Vista House where I then was then able to get myself into my pics. Plus it included the impressive background with the Columbia River splitting between Washington and Oregon states. Now...you can walk down the staircase to get as close as possible towards the overlook of the Columbia River. If you do this, it will eliminate having the road set within your photo. I actually appreciated having the road as another element to my picture frame. It just added another aspect to the entire landscape. And...I know this may sound a bit confusing, but all I'm saying is that if you look close enough...you'll notice opportunities for undisturbed moments without anyone else getting in the way (photo bombing, lol). Also...if you see my photos, I placed myself in one corner of the lens...with the Columbia River and panoramic backdrop combining for one memorable setting. And basically, that's all I really came here to Vista House for...the views! I don't know anything about the house or what makes it special. But again, if you'd like to have that quick introduction when starting out your Columbia River Gorge adventure, then I'd definitely recommend stopping at this Vista House. Then you can begin the real reason every tourist comes to the gorge...Waterfall Way!
google avatar

Donn D.

Yelp
It is easy to miss this place, as if you are on the highway you'll just blow by it without so much as a glance. If you know it here though, and travel the backroads to check it out than you are one lucky duck in for a unique experience. A vintage viewpoint designed over 90 years ago. Built of marble, glass and copper, it's a shining beacon of yesteryear that will coax you to relax in its cool interior and slow down for a short time before you go on about your rushing to and fro with the rest of the rat race.
google avatar

Liza M.

Yelp
If you ever visiting Portland, you have to at least visit this place. This spot has breath taking views of the Columbia Gorge especially when clear. Unfortunately, the center is closed due to renovations, but will be open in the spring to the public. The parking lot is still open to get out of car. But, it very foggy and cold this month Feburary, I suggest coming during the spring or summer to really see the gorge. You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Kim G.

Yelp
Expansive views of the Columbia River and Gorge from every angle! Absolutely breathtaking! The ride along the Old Scenic Highway to Vista House, this historical round domed building, is just as beautiful. If you are on your way to Multnomah Falls, Hood River, or anywhere in this area, definitely make the stop. Perched on top of the hill, you can see Vista House from I-84 below but will be amazed at the views from up top. Be warned, it's super windy up there! Sometimes it's challenging to walk and gets cold depending on the month. There are lots of people, the parking area is small, so sometimes you have to wait until a car leaves. It's ok, people don't stay long so just be patient or park a little ways down the road. For a history lesson, go inside the building and read up on the surrounding area. The building itself is an architectural gem. There is a gift shop and restrooms on the lowest level; the visitor center on the floor you enter; and an observation deck on top. You can walk around the circular viewpoint outside for spectacular vistas of the Columbia in all directions. Unfortunately during the Pandemic, the Scenic Highway, Vista House and Multnomah Falls are closed, with signs posted along I-84. Once it reopens, I will be back, it's definitely worth the stop.
google avatar

Maggy B.

Yelp
Watched the sunset here last night. Wow! Super gorgeous. People even clapped! Ha ha. No pics taken since they would do this amazingness no justice. So just a moment committed to memory with my best friend. Loved it.
google avatar

Natasha K.

Yelp
Gorgeous views of the Columbia river! However, it does get extremely busy and parking is not a guarantee. Also- since the main road goes around the structure, it can be a little dangerous if you're not paying attention to where you are walking. COVID UPDATE: the building itself is currently closed to the public.
google avatar

Belly G.

Yelp
I came here upon the recommendation of the valet girl at the hotel. She told me to start here at Vista House and take the scenic route down to Multnomah Falls. I obliged. Using Waze to get to Vista House, it took me through a long and winding road going uphill. Arriving at the top, there were plenty of parking spaces because people were constantly coming and going. Inside Vista House, you can got up to the balcony on the roof and take in the amazing, wonderful view. No amount of pictures I can take will be able to describe the beauty that was witnessed with my own two eyes. This is one of those "you have to be there" kind of things. There's a small store underground if you need to buy some water, ice cream, or various other snacks. There's also a gift shop down there if you're looking to buy some souvenirs to take home. Best of all? This is all free! You can make a donation if you want to help preserve this state park, but it's obviously not necessary. If you appreciate nature, just go and experience it at least once. You won't regret it.
google avatar

Anne L.

Yelp
Great stop if you're out at the gorge! Go on a less windy day so you don't get blown away. Admire the views and take in natures beauty! Limited Free parking up at the top.
google avatar

Ariella W.

Yelp
The vista house itself is closed because of covid so could not go in. My Mother in law had wanted to show us this destination point and was pretty disappointed when we found it closed. It is a pretty busy spot with limited parking so just be aware you may have to wait when you get there. We did find a spot thankfully. No bathrooms outside. We did get out and check out the views however and those were quite lovely.
google avatar

Sharon H.

Yelp
Spectacular views of the Columbia River Gorge can be seen from almost every vantage point at the Vista House. If the visitor center is open, this is a good stop for a bathroom break and a quick history lesson on the area. Learn how the 2017 fire has impacted the land and what trails have been reopened. Plus, find souvenirs in the cute gift shop that also sells huckleberry flavored taffy and chocolates.
google avatar

Boon C.

Yelp
Vista House located at Near Portland Oregon call crown point. It has the magnificent view to Columbia River Gorge. During the Columbia River Scenic Highway was built this is the great spot for traveler to stop to enjoy the silent beauty. The house is at the cliff of a rock face overlook the Columbia River. The view certainly is beautiful. In a clear day, you can overlook the river very far away. The building shaped like octagon. It three story high. With underground level host the cafe and the gifts shop. It also has some museum exhibits. The top floor has walk way surrounding the building for good view point. This house was build in 1917. It is still stand tall for many visitors that come. From the highway below is easily spot the corner cliff house.
google avatar

Helen S.

Yelp
A must-see when you're in the Portland area. The day we were there, unfortunately there was so much wildfire drift smoke that the views were poor. I plan to return in a time of better visibility.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
In this case the view says it all. A breathtaking panoramic view of the Columbia RIver Gorge. The house has limited days (weekends?) for opening. However, you can always drive and park and partake of the stunning vista. No seating. I guess the view is too good, so they want you to leave in a timely manner.
google avatar

Yelp
Spectacular views from inside and out! The Vista House at Crown Point is an essential destination for gorgeous views of the Columbia River. The Vista House is just a short 30-40 minute drive down the East Historic Columbia River Highway from Portland. Once there, you can park your vehicle at any of the designated parking spots, and walk straight up to the Vista House. The Columbia River is actually viewable right from the parking lot itself. You can walk along the barrier on the sidewalk to view the river from multiple angles. The Columbia River is so fascinating! You'll literally be surrounded by this big beautiful body of water as you stand and admire. As if the views of the gorgeous river weren't enough; the Vista House is also quite the charmer. Everything from its' timeless enclave to its' classical marble and vintage interior is just absolutely stunning! Make sure to look up at the ceiling when you enter. The interior structure of the Vista House is truly amazing! You can walk up the narrow spiral steps that will lead you to the balcony. And of course, more astonishing views will await you! On the bottom floor of the Vista House, you'll find a small museum, a gift shop, and even a small cafe where you can warm up with a cup of Joe. The Museum offers information about the history of the Vista House which I found vital during my visit. Double check the opening and closing hours of the Vista House before you go if you're planning on actually going inside. The hours change depending on the season. This also poses as a good rest stop since there are restrooms available inside. Parking is limited and this is a very popular tourist area, so just beware. It gets really windy here, so I would suggest to bring a coat and even gloves (especially during the winter time). Visiting the Vista House will be an experience that you'll never forget.
google avatar

Johana T.

Yelp
Such a beautiful spot! I stopped here to take some quick pictures. When I went it was on the weekend so it was pretty crowded but if you go on the weekday there will probably not be that much people. If you do go on the weekend near a holiday be prepared to wait like around 7 minutes to get inside. Then you have to find parking. Make sure to pick a sunny day here to take the best pictures.
google avatar

Margaret P.

Yelp
Since most of the waterfalls were closed around the Columbia River Gorge, we were looking for other places to see around the area. We spoke with one of the people that worked for the park and they had recommended to check this place out. It's a really cool spot to check out if you're around Portland and looking for some breathtaking sights! This area provides an amazing view of the Columbia River Gorge, and is a beautiful scenic ride on the way up to it! Inside the house, they have a little gift shop, some photos of the establishment from way back then, and restrooms for public use! The restroom is very old school, almost feeling like there's some other presence in there. There's no need to hike around here, just beautiful views of the river!
google avatar

Yelp
While visiting the Silver Falls State Park, our tour guide gave us a pro tip if we decided to visit the great Multnomah Falls. He told us to stop by the Vista House at Crown Point first. He raved about the beautiful view and the history of the Vista House. He also told us to go early to avoid the crowds. We took his advice and check it out. We arrived early, and the Vista House was closed. Back in the day, the Vista House served as a rest stop for tourist and travelers traveling on the Columbia River Gorge Highway. I know this because I'm smart and because I looked it up on Google. We didn't need the rest and kept our visit short. The views of the Columbia River are beautiful. The views of the gorge are gorgeous. The Vista House at Crown Point is just a 10-minute detour if you're heading towards Multnomah Falls. Take my advice...Just Do It!!

Yelp
Beautiful detour from Multnomah Falls... great photo op, an amazing view and lots of history too. So glad we made the stop. Check out the gift shop and mini coffee shop downstairs.

Yelp
Beautiful view | Very touristy This place reminds me Coit Tower in San Francisco. You drive up to this vista view waiting for some parking spots to open up and walk around to spend about 30 minutes before continuing on your journey. LOTS OF TOURIST. I can see why there's a crowd though. The view of the gorge is gorge-ous! It's a view without a hike to get to. After taking some photos outside of the vista house, we explored the vista house. Surprisingly, it is much bigger than I thought! When we entered, there was a beautiful Christmas tree in the center. There's people at the front desk willing to help if you have any questions or concerns. We went up a quick flight of stairs to see the view again. Everyone wants a photo in this narrow walkway. Apparently, there's two stairways to get in/out of the viewing area, but it causes some congestion because it's so narrow that you have to wait for some folks to go first. There's also a downstairs where there's a gift shop offering food and coffee. There's a gallery of old photos and history of this place too. Bathrooms are also downstairs.

Yelp
This place is always packed when we visit, but it's worth it! The views are phenomenal! We took my 93yo grandpa who has difficulties walking to this scenic spot and it was great! The gift shop is downstairs but the volunteer staff had an elevator to take my grandpa down. It was so neat. We got to learn about the Gorge and the history is awespiring. This spot is before the mandated permit system, so no need to worry about that. We were able to get in and out just fine. Would def recommend this place as a family friendly adventure stop.

Yelp
There isn't much to say that hasn't been said. Awesome views. Make a stop. Grab a coffee. You'll be happy.

Yelp
Nice pit stop on the way to the Gorge (sad since most of it is still closed from the fire) from Portland! The house is nice to look at, and you can go on the balcony to look at the river. There's a pokemon gym here as well as a Pokestop, if you still play that. LOL There's nothing much inside the house, but there are people who have maps and can help guide you if you don't know where you're going. If you're collecting stamps (like the ones you can stamp in a notebook at national parks), you can get a stamp here. :D Also, if you need to use the bathroom, the bathrooms are pretty clean here, and you can wash your hands here (no soap though). A plus is that you don't have to hike anything to get here, if you're a lazy bum.
