Visvesvaraya, this museum was inaugurated by India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on 14th July 1962 and has been inspiring generations ever since.

The museum is a constituent unit of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) under the Government of India’s Ministry of Culture. Its mission is simple yet powerful: to cultivate scientific curiosity and understanding through hands-on learning and immersive exhibits.
In over six decades of operation, VITM has grown from a modest 4,000 sqm building to a vibrant science hub with multiple themed galleries, activities, shows, and educational programs making it a top destination for students, families, and science lovers of all ages.
