The Vitra Design Museum is an architectural masterpiece and a must-visit for design and architecture enthusiasts. Located in Weil am Rhein, Germany, the museum is renowned for its rich collection of modern furniture, interior design, and architecture exhibitions. The building itself, designed by Frank Gehry, is an icon of contemporary architecture. Visitors can explore a diverse range of exhibitions that highlight influential designers and design movements. The museum also offers guided tours, workshops, and events, making it an engaging experience for all ages. The surrounding Vitra Campus features other iconic structures by world-famous architects, creating an inspiring environment that blends art, design, and innovation.

The Architecture Tour is strongly recommended if you visit Vitra Design Museum. The professor led us explore the Campus with many architectural knowledge. Some of the places can only be allowed to enter if you join this tour. My friends and I are not architecture students but we and the other groupmates in the tour have learnt a lot from him! We all enjoyed this tour though it was a very hot day!

Definitely a place to see, i felt really inspired and excited after the visit . I would recommend to plan the visit with a guide, to get the most out of it, you can also do some research before your visit , just to have an idea . There is a campus , museum and store ( Vitra Haus ) , you get a totally different experience after you see all 3 of them. There is also a coffee place, where you can have some snacks and drinks, when you want to take a load off your feet .

The Vitra campus has number of buildings designed by famous Architects like Zaha Hadid, Frank O Gehry, Renzo Piano, Herzog & de Meuron, Tadao Ando etc. All in walkable distances.

This is a very impressive campus, a great experience for people who love architecture & interior design. You will also get your own inspiration from it.

There is much more to the site than "just" the museum, and you don't have to be particularly interested in furniture or architecture to be impressed. But if you are, it's a great place where you can easily spend a whole day. The architecture tour is well worth it, and the special exhibitions are a big highlight in terms of current affairs and design. Not to mention the furniture and the funky buildings. Apart from that, you can also just stop by on your way through, have something to eat, and enjoy the sun in the gardens.

The product exhibition is like a vitra shopping centre. But to be fair their stuff looks good. I was disappointed by the smallness of the exhibion of their vintage collection. The scifi themed exhibits made me wanting more of the same. The glass in front of the storage of their collection mirrors much. But what's behind the glass is would be the main attraction. Restaurant was OK. Staff was friendly.

Yelp
This is a rather unique place. I am generally not a fan of contemporary design but this museum almost made me a convert. The arrangements were quite appealing and presented delightful ideas with respect to the use of space. The synergy of the pieces used was striking at times. Some of the displays on the side of the building that faced the pastoral surroundings across the road were very relaxing in their presentations. The wall-length windows allowed one to look out over the bucolic environs. You'll be tempted to sit all day staring out the window in those corners of the museum as they are intrinsically relaxing, playing to something seminal in the human spirit. The arrangement inspired by Alice in Wonderland was particularly memorable as it was undoubtedly one of the more peculiar designs on display. Eccentricity certainly comes to mind when in that portion of the museum. The verbiage providing historical perspectives relative to the evolution of design ideas was also of interest. If you are in the Basel area and have some time, this place is worth a visit, even if you're not particularly an interior design buff. It will only take 60 - 90 minutes to stroll through at a casual pace. If you are so inclined, there is also a nice café where you can get a coffee and sweet treat (or even lunch) to add to the enjoyment of your visit.

Yelp
A top notch museum and shop. The merchandise is like IKEA for millionaires. The museum had an exhibition on clubs and music festivals. You can spend half a day here to have time to see everything (buy the combo ticket for both exhibits, it's worth it).

Yelp
Wow what a gem! It's a little work to get here and it is outside of town. It is part of the factory complex and u don't often get to see a Gehry-designed museum in the middle of a beautiful countryside with vineyards in the background. The site is actually a collection of world class architecture literally set in a field in the middle of no where. The main museum hosts rotating exhibits focused on various designers. It is a wonderful space for that. There is a nearby restaurant and also a custom house where u can order vitra furniture. If uv ever wonder what all those iconic modern designs are. This is the place to learn how an Eames chair got to well an Eames chair ;-) While out of the way if ur visiting basel it is well worth the trip.

Yelp
One of the best furniture design museums in the area! Big fan of the Vitra collection!
