The term 'old school' gets thrown around a lot these days, but I honestly can't think of a better way to describe the experience at Vittorio's. With every interaction, every item served and every bite taken the thought that hit me was 'this is what I remember, this is how it's supposed to be done'.
Wifey and I had our anniversary dinner here and were thoroughly blown away from start to finish. Our server Theresa was an absolute rockstar, not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable on what they had to offer - you could tell she genuinely cared about the experience patrons have, always a good sign.
Started with the calamari appetizer - when we first walked in the aroma of it hit me, likely from another table, and we knew pretty quickly that was what we wanted. In the end it was the right choice as they truly do it the right way, dare I say the old school way. These days so many places make this dish blah, it's apparent the pale plate of rings they serve was clearly frozen and the taste proves it. Not the case at Vittorio's - from the first bite you knew this was cut, breaded and fried in house and the taste was something that's very hard to find, the impeccably seasoned sauce put it over the top in a way I can't even describe, it was just perfect.
On to the mains: wifey loves a good ribeye, but it's rare to see her react the way she did taking a taste of this. Literally omg & eyes rolling back a la Homer Simpson - pure enjoyment. And when I dug into my veal parm the experience was quite similar. This wasn't your average pizza place veal parm, it was a humongous frisbee sized bone in chop fried to absolute perfection with just the right amount of sauce to enhance but not drown it out if that makes sense. Our whipped potatoes and creamed spinach for the sides were equally delicious, head and shoulders above what you find in most places these days.
Stuffed as we were after all this when the dessert tray came over we knew we had to try something. Wifey had heard someone earlier raving about the chocolate peanut butter decadence, so when Theresa told us it was the one we needed to try we knew it was no coincidence. We made the right call here, it was simply divine.
All in all this was one of the better meals we've had in a very long time. It's not cheap but this is one of those times where you really do get what you pay for. It'll be a special occasion place going forward, but one that'll be at the top of our list on those days for sure.
