Beautiful theater—no matter where you sit, you get a great view. Lincoln Center never disappoints. I went to see Floyd Collins. While it wasn’t really my type of play, the performances and singing were truly impressive. The story and the way it was structured just didn’t captivate me personally, but the talent on stage was undeniable.

Kailey Parks

Google
The seating was comfortable, it felt like there probably wasn't a bad seat in the house - we were in the back row on the main level and could see everything. The bathrooms were spacious.

Jim Lyons

Google
The great thing is that every seat is an excellent view and the staff very helpful. With that being said, the rows of seats are entirely too close together which make them extremely uncomfortable to sit in for any period of time. Additionally, the depth forces everyone in your row to get up for you to exit. There are modern and more comfortable seating options available and the older curved backs take up and possible hope for anyone over 5’9” tall.

Google
Not a bad seat in this house. Always amazing shows. Went to see Floyd Collins, and can't wait to see Ragtime this fall!

Kriti Sharan

Google
This might just be the best theater in Manhattan when it comes to the viewing angle. Every single Orchestra seat has a clear unobstructed view, no matter how tall a person is seated in front of you. The seats may be a little cramped if you have long legs. Clean restrooms. You can't take any outside food into the theater but they have a bar and snacks counter inside. Have seen 3 productions in this theater now, Uncle Vanya being the latest, and all have been a great experience.

Julia Liang

Google
The theater offers good view from all angles which is amazing. It is a bit hard to find - if you try to find it from the main door of Lincoln center, but if you head to there from the fountain before the metropolitan opera house, it is pretty easy. The show McNeal was pretty dark and very relevant of what we are experiencing in the society these days.

Google
I went to see Floyd Collins. The theater is very nice. On the smaller side so it didn't seem like there would be any bad seats. The stage is at floor seat level instead of raised like most theaters, this results in being incredibly close to the actors if you have seating in the first 5 or 6 rows. Great layout for concessions, bathrooms and merch. Stagedoor is inside so you are out of the elements on inclement days!

Google
Top of the art theater offers an amazing venue to enjoy the highest quality entertainment. We saw McNeal with Robert Downey Jr and had a wonderful time. Highly recommended!

Yelp
One the newer end of the theatres. Small which makes it a very intimate setting. No bad view at all. Was lucky enough to see McNeal. Inside and outside of the Center is just beautiful. Very safe feeling outside as well. Only complaint - and this is kind of going with all theaters I have been to. Not everyone is 5'5 and no legs. When cramping occurs it is very uncomfortable.

Yelp
The Vivian Beaumont Theater has always been focused on the art rather than producing commercial hits. They always do an excellent job.

Yelp
Best Place to catch a performance, very intimate with seating in the round. You're so close you could reach out and touch the actors. You get a very up close experience with the actors and see a variety of great plays.I recently saw Uncle Vanya Starring Steve Carell and it was very entertaining and he was just so incredible. There is a small bar in the lobby to buy refreshments plus a merchandise stand with shirts, hats and posters to purchase.
google avatar

Diane H.

Yelp
Never a bad seat as seating is in the round. You get a very upclose experience with the actors. There is a bar in the lobby to purchase beverages or snacks and also a merchandise stand.Great variety of plays. My recent theater experience was seeing Uncle Vanya starring Steve Carell , he and the play were both outstanding. Very enjoyable, always an entertaining night out.

Yelp
I love the theater! Super spacious with plenty of leg room. Chairs are super comfortable. Great shows all the time.

Yelp
This theater is a little confusing to get to. Solely because of its location and the fact that so many places and things surrounding it, its hard to know which entrance is for the theater and not something else. I literally walked into the staff section accidentally and had to have someone help me get to the ticket station. They need more signs and arrows directing people from the sidewalk. The entrance for this theater is up some stairs and once your in, you have to go down a level to get to the theater and ticket booth. This theater is absolutely beautiful. They do have a consession stand that sells sodas, juice, beer, wine, etc. They also have candy as well. They accept cards and apple/google pay as well. All of the beverages come in a travel cup with the logo of the show your seeing. This helps to avoid spills. I personally went here to see "The Old Man and the Pool". It was a really great show. The seats were nice however, they are a little close together. The seats feel like they are the equivalent of economy seats on a plane. I am a very short person and my knees did hurt because i felt like the seats in front were too close. The theater isn't super big but it is a nice size. It was really clean inside and staff was friendly. I loved coming here and cant wait to see additional shows here. The area is beautiful so if you have time to walk around and take a few pictures, i would.

Yelp
Lovely modern theater with comfortable, cushioned, plush seats. Serve snacks & drinks, including alcohol.
google avatar

Yelp
The Beaumont theater is located in beautiful Lincoln Center to the north (or right) of the opera house. There is a drinks bar in the lobby where you can order drinks before the show and during intermission (you can pre-order for intermission). I came here to see My Fair Lady. The play was excellent and all views are great! There is no bad seat with obstructed views like in some theaters. The seats are a bit on the small side though. Tickets are fairly expensive but there is an online lottery for $39 tickets, if you are lucky. Also sign up for Linctix if you are 21-35 years old for $32 tickets (wish I knew about that sooner)!
google avatar

Darya S.

Yelp
I saw My Fair Lady here, and while the play was great, this theater sucks. First of all, our seats were the third row in the front, but on the right side of the play. The view from this side is awful, as the performers' sides are to you, but not only that, there is a huge piece of furniture that they've played right in front that won't let you see anything. It's not even critical to the plot, so I don't get why they did this. Also, if you sit in this section, there are lights that shine onto the stage that literally blind you. It hurt my friend's eyes they are so bright! I am positive they could reposition them so as to not bother the audience members. Another point is how unfriendly the ushers are. They are just plain mean. Last, there aren't enough bathrooms! The women's line was so long that I didn't have enough time to go during the intermission.

Yelp
Came here to see My Fair Lady. Go see the show before it ends on July 7!!! Lincoln Center elevated my favorite classic to a whole another level of awesome. Thanks to Yelpers, I learned about LincTix--if you're 18-35, you can purchase discounted tickets to select Lincoln Center performances. Just register online. It's free and takes less than 5 minutes. Each person gets a unique code that s/he has to use to book tickets online. Limit one ticket per person per performance, so sadly you cannot buy tickets for your friends/family. As a result, $30+$5 fee=$35 ticket that otherwise would've cost you at least double. I registered myself and my bf, so I was able to select two seats together when choosing the spots online. You can only pickup those tickets 30 minutes prior to show start at the box office. Just show your ID. Our tickets were in the orchestra, the fourth row all the way to the right of the stage. Not the best view, but certainly doable and worth the discounted price tag. I enjoy seeing the actors up close, so I was glad to see the enthusiastic spit fly from their lips, as they poured all their might into the performance. The show was phenomenal--2 hours and 50 minutes [with 20 minute intermission] of immaculate singing, acting, and amazing stage sets and costumes. I was singing along to all my favorite classics, much to the annoyance of the elderly women sitting in front of us. I left the theater with an overflowing heart full of gratitude and optimism after such an uplifting performance. I would definitely return to see this show again and already got tickets for my parents, to commemorate their anniversary with a fantastic experience.

Yelp
Stadium seating with great acoustics. Seats are less than desirable very small and uncomfortable. I was wedged in between two men who's arms hovered into my seat so I had no armrests and had to lean forward fir three hours. My boyfriend got an aisle seat - we had bought sooo tickets due to the popularity of My Fair Lady- and he had a better experience. Just buy any aisle seat and you will have a great time!! Recommended!
google avatar

Yves X.

Yelp
They can be forgiven perhaps for having small seats, but not having an elevator or escalator for elderly persons is a tremendous issue. I do not feel I am pointing out something unreasonable as these amenities are indeed available at the neighboring Metropolitan Opera, former Avery Fischer Hall (now David Geffen) and the American Ballet Theater.

Yelp
I love the Vivian Beaumont theater at Lincoln Center. The great thing about this theater is no matter where you sit you can see and see well. I've gone to several plays here like My fair lady and Miss Saigon and I was beyond happy at the view. it wasn't too loud and with some shows the stage turns so everyone in the audience gets a chance to see it all. The goodies that they sell before you go in are pricey but I consider where I'm at. the staff are really nice, the bathrooms are clean and the theater itself is spotless. Everyone has a positive upbeat attitude that works there. I actually bought my ticket there at the last show I went to and the girl at the ticket counter was really sweet and when she threw me her first price for a seat I said I didn't want to pay that much I didn't get a look from her, instead she was like OK how about this price for this seat? Well and it was just as good as if not better and she said it all and did it all with a smile. I so look forward to the next play I go to there.

Yelp
Beautiful theater in the 1/2 round? Carries the illustrious air of Lincoln Center with a more scaled down formality. It is housed with two other smaller theaters and share the same lobby with a bar and facilities. It was designed by the Finnish architect Eero Saarinen and named after the NY philanthropist Vivian Beaumont Allen. It opened in 1965 It was originally the home of the now-defunct Repertory Theater of Lincoln Center, which closed in 1973 after nine seasons. Executive director Chairman Eric M. Mindich and Producing Artistic Director André Bishop, put on dozens of plays and musicals, at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, the Claire Tow Theater, here.

Yelp
This "Broadway" theater is actually located in Lincoln Center. It is currently hosting "The King and I". I recently attended a show here and I was thoroughly impressed. Right outside the theater there is a promenade with a large, reflecting pool with sculptures, many small trees and seats. It's a great place to relax before the show, and weather permitting, bring a pre-show snack or coffee. The lounging area inside the theater is adequate, including a second floor with a good view of what's going on outside. The staff is very friendly and professional. The seating surrounds the stage in a U-shape, and the seats are staggered in height like movie-stadium seating, so you won't have someone's head in your way. The 1 train will get you there very easily, there is a parking garage with the typical $30+ pricing. Most restaurants in the vicinity are $$$.

Yelp
The current show is the revival of My Lady. This theatre is at Lincoln Center which is breathtaking in itself. The theatre is modern and intimate. Stadium seating surround the semi-circle stage 180° . You could probably see from any seat and not have a problem. The only issue we had was that there's not enough leg room. If they were making a modern theatre, why couldn't they at least give the patrons enough leg room to sit comfortably through a 2-2 1/2 hour show? We bought these tickets back in August of 2017 and we just just saw the show today May 6, 2018. My Fair Lady was certainly a fantastic show and everyone on our bus loved it. The sets, costumes, acting and singing were a delight. It's a classic with a great messGe6not to be missed.

Yelp
I am embarrassed to say this is my first lincoln center theater production visit. Came to see kelli ohara and Ken watanabe in the King and I and they were both fantastic!! This theater and the surroundings are gorgeous! I was surprise to see people very dressed up for this theater, i saw some people wearing cocktail dress and men mostly wore business casual. Its definitely a much more upscale and mature place than your regular broadway theater crowd. The theater itself is pretty small compare to those on broadway, even if you sit upstairs you will be able to see. We splurged a bit and got seats in the 5th row and at times I felt they were singing directly at me since my seats were very close to the stage. Seats are pretty comfortable and the ushers enforced strict no cell phone rule. The ladies bathroom is pretty big so even though the line was at times massive it went pretty fast. Looking forward to my next lincoln center production!

Yelp
What a beautiful space! Vivian Beaumont Theater is smaller than other Broadway theaters that I've been to, which gives it a feeling of an intimate, exclusive show. My husband and I attended "The King and I" in late May, partly because it's my favorite show, and partly because I wanted to see Daniel Dae Kim! We had seats in the first row of the upper level, and we were so close! We could see every expression on the actors' faces, and we had a great view of the amazing orchestra. And for a smaller theater, VBT uses every possible space. The stage extended to cover the orchestra pit, and the actors used the aisles and stairs -- which made us feel included in the production! The outside of the theater has a nice flow to it as well, and while the bathroom lines looked inimidating, they moved very quickly. There was plenty of space to move around and I never felt crowded. And look carefully at your ticket -- there were recommended parking garages listed that offer a discount if you show them your stub! Thanks, VBT! Honestly I had such an amazing experience at VBT, and I don't think it was just because of the amazing production of "The King and I." I would jump at the chance to see another show here!

Yelp
Saw "Junk" here last night -- in the last week of its 3 month run. The excess of Wall Street in the 1980's has been dramatized countless times in recent years. On some level -- watching another version play out at the Beaumont theater -- albeit tightly scripted and visually effective -- is -- well -- ho hum. Still -- with the recent run-up in the stock market and investments like Bitcoin outperforming everyone -- Junk is at least a chilling reminder that folks with the ethics of Milken and Boesky may still be pulling strings in the background -- and messing with all of our money -- while the rest of us are distracted by other things -- most especially -- each other. I like the intimacy of the Beaumont -- even if seating is a bit cramped for my corpulence. Stadium style seating in a half moon is the perfect venue for this show -- our orchestra right seats about 6 rows back gave us an unobstructed perception of the sweat on the actors brows and the growl in their voices -- in this fast paced/dialogue driven performance. Another TDF score for date night. Not Akhtar's best -- but you can't expect a Pulitzer every time out of the gate either.
google avatar

Ross R.

Yelp
First off because I was looking for this but bags and laptops can be brought in. You just have to open your bag to be checked before going into the theater itself. I saw Junk and sat in the mezzanine. The view was great! I also saw reviews complaining about the space per seats. It is not the most spacious but good for Broadway. My bag fit under my seat and had room for my legs.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Saw My Fair Lady and loved every second of it. My one tiny complaint was a little trouble catching all of the dialog. The actors affect English accents and sometimes speak very quickly. Sets and costumes and performances were superb.
google avatar

Peretz D.

Yelp
I enjoyed the show, My Fair Lady, but at 6' 1" found the very cramped seating reminiscent of sitting in equally uncomfortable seating in local theaters built in the early 20th century. I have one other complaint. A group of elderly women sat behind us and we got the impression they didn't have tickets. The usher attempted to get them to leave. She was unsuccessful except at making quite a racket for about 10 minutes. What was the point?
google avatar

Wenting G.

Yelp
Saw King and I via the discounted ticket program for young people (younger than 35). It's an amazing deal and u can book for a group as long as everyone signed up via Linctix. the theatre is modern, and cozy. small enough to enjoy a broadway even from further seat. We seat on row E 107-109, third row on the far left side in orchestra session. View is great, only partial view for a few minutes for a few time through out the show when the pillars came down for scene in a palace. since the center stage moves in and out, u can be very close to the performers. it's amazing deal for price of $32 per person, and u book online and pick up your ticket at the box office prior to performance. Better than rush in some way if you have more than two person in your group because u can book in advance. link to the sign up page: http://www.lct.org/linctix/

Yelp
I've only seen two productions here (The Light in the Piazza and South Pacific), but they were two of the most overwhelmingly incredible theatre-going experiences of my life (one of which I saw three times). This theatre only adds to the value of the production on stage. The immense lobby fits almost everyone comfortable before the show and during intermission (which can only be said about a handful of theatres...regrettably including the Gershwin). The theatre offers FREE use of lockers for the storage of coats/bags (same setup also offered at the Circle in the Square Theatre, but you have to pay). The thrust stage provides a unique experience for a Broadway house. No other theatre can boast such thrilling staging and over-all epic scale of production. The far sides of the Orchestra level can be a little irritating when it comes to sight lines, but there is no bad seat in the theatre. The very last row in the Orchestra still provides a good view...and the Loge still has an excellent view of the stage. I'd see almost anything here. The experience can be overwhelming.

Yelp
Thank you to the other Yelpers' reviews that mention the LincTix deal. We got a great price for tickets to see War Horse during our visit to NY. Our seats were in the first row on the upper level, which is great because there's no one in front of you AND you can rest your feet up on the railing (but only after the lights go down according to the friendly theater usher). FYI: if you arrive early like we did, they do not allow entrance into the theater lobby (just the box office) so no access to the bathrooms! They are very strict about this as well as lying down on the benches... the security guard told an old lady (who was just resting & waiting like us) that she had to sit up, wow. Theater isn't that huge so it gives an intimate feel. Stage rotates and moves and I can appreciate the engineering involved in that. Warhorse itself was a great production. Very entertaining and the movements of the mechanical costumes really bring out the emotions of the horses. *Caution/Spoiler alert* live (blank) gunshots may occur... and the duck was arguably the star of the show.

Yelp
I had been dying to go to this theater ever since I saw "The Light in the Piazza" and "South Pacific" on PBS' Live! From Lincoln Center, and I must say the theater did not disappoint. I want to confirm a number of facts that were stated by previous reviewers: (1) There is NO bad seat in this theater (2) The lobby is spacious enough to hold everyone during intermission. The lobby was also brilliantly designed such that the box office is half a level below the main floor, so the maddening crowds pushing to get into the theater won't get in the way of you trying to snag your will call ticket at the last minute. (3) Yes, there are $30 seats you can get via the LincTix program (be sure to sign up for it if you're eligible). My friend and I (like other LincTix members) got front row orchestra seats on stage left (i.e. the right side when you're facing the stage). You can also get front row loge seats to the side. The theater itself is very modern in look, and is designed to "horseshoe" the stage so it feels more intimate. You can search "Vivian Beaumont Theater" on Google Images to get a pretty good idea of what the interior looks like. I should note two additional things: (1) The Lincoln Center staff (i.e. ushers, box office staff, etc.) seemed to be a bit more uptight than the theater employees I usually run across. Maybe I came on a bad day? (2) If you're going to see "War Horse", as cool as it was to be so incredibly close to the stage (at one point, I swore Joey was going to fall back on top of me), there are definitely huge advantages to sitting middle to middle-back orchestra for some scenes.
google avatar

Jaclyn C.

Yelp
Didn't think you'd see anything more beautiful this weekend then the blue sky and the almost naked bodies on the beaches now did you? Unless...you happened to see "WARHORSE". This theatrical performance will have you wondering exactly how strong is the bond between man and beast, and what lengths one would go for the other; a must-see for those that have a definite soft spot for war or animals - you'll be pleased! The stage transforms as the performance progresses, as well as your love for the bond between Joey and Albert. The performers give a stellar portrayal of the struggles begotten of the times, and make you feel you've left NYC for a 2 1/2 hours, with intermission of course. Bathrooms on both levels of the theater and a pretty amazing view of Lincoln Center while you're eagerly waiting the end of the intermission. Where did we sit? The highly coveted and cheapest seats in the house - $50 last row! There's no bad seat in the whole theater, but if your wallet is crying lately like mine, you can't go wrong with the last row. Can't seem to recognize what the ripped white backdrop is across the stage? It's the ripped piece of sketch paper that had the penciled image of Joey! Amazing design and well written! Highly suggested to see, whether you've seen the movie already or not!

Yelp
Such a nice little theater, but the seats are small and crammed together and not very comfy. I loved their performance of My Fair Lady.
google avatar

Stuart B.

Yelp
I've seen 2 shows here (Warhorse and The King and I) For Warhorse we were on the side in the upper section and for The King and I we were lower middle. Both seats provided great views. The seating is set up so that no one is blocking your view. The theater is definitely cozy but at the same time you do get sufficient leg room as opposed to the older Broadway theaters. The theater is easy to get to via the 1 train (red) and a number of buses. You will also miss out on the crazy crowds of Times Square.
google avatar

Greg C.

Yelp
Came here to see the King and I for my fiancee's birthday. The theater is really cool. I love how the orchestra is out in the open when the show starts, and then the stage actually extends over them when the show begins. This allows you to get a good view of the orchestra, and when the show starts the actors are able to move out into the audience more. The Lobby and theater itself really felt like a throwback to the days when going to the theater was a social event. I was dressed nicely, but felt like I should have been wearing a tux and drinking a martini.

Yelp
Saw the King and I recently. Got a great discount on seat Orchestra F 109 thanks to LincTix (check it out if you're within the age range). 109 is pretty far stage right but the center stage moves in and out. I never felt like I was missing out on anything. We were worried because we were running late and wasn't sure if they seat latecomers. We got seated just as the curtain was about to rise. So if you're running late, you have some time. Parking: I went to Icon parking's website and got a coupon for the lot across the street. Other people had a coupon from telecharge/pre-reserved or something, but since I went through LincTix, I never got a proper email confirmation. I think this garage is cheaper than the one under the theater. Since we were running late, this was our only option. Kelli O'Hara and Ruthie Ann Miles were great. Ken Watanabe left.
google avatar

Ian G.

Yelp
Watched My Fair Lady and the production was amazing. This theater is a lot more modern compared to its Broadway Contemporaries. Although seating is snug like most Broadway shows every seat is a great view. This due to the fact that the theater doesn't include a third level mezzanine. Also the waiting area to get into the show is very large so you don't feel claustrophobic. Be aware that you don't get a playbill until after you give the attendants your tickets. This is important because in the waiting area they have little makeshift kiosks where you can grab a magazine if you donate money. However the magazine has nothing to do with the show. We also got cheap tickets by signing up to be a member of TDF. Which encourages a younger audience to attend shows. Go to TDF.org if you are younger than 35 to get $30 tickets.

Yelp
Went to see The Great Society, a play about the LBJ Presidency. The theater was about 2/3 filled. Plenty of seats were available. The show was awful and boring. Poorly written and poorly performed, in my opinion. But this review is not about the show, it's about the theater itself. The seats are small. There is very little legroom. As a result, the seating is very uncomfortable. You can see the stage very well from any part of the theater, but I cannot get beyond being cramped into a small seat for three hours. The lines at the bathroom and concession stand were chaotic and not worth the hassle if you can avoid them.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I saw Warhorse here last night. We scored $30 tickets using LincTix (http://www.lct.org/linctixMain.htm), which offers discounted tickets to 21-35 year-olds. I was a bit concerned about our seats, which were the front row of the orchestra section but all the way stage left. Upon entering the theater i immediately realized my concerns were merit less, the theater is quite small and the stage is shaped like a half moon, there is not a bad seat in the house. We both loved Warhorse. I highly recommend it to anyone. I am not a theater person at all, this is only the second production I've seen in my life, and I absolutely loved it. I only agreed to go because I had heard a piece about the shows puppetry on NPR several months back and I thought it would be interesting, also $30 was not much to lose if I didn't like it. Fortunately it exceeded my expectations in every way possible. I may have to check out some more shows now.

Yelp
Came to the Vivian Beaumont Theater to watch "Warhorse!" (Warhorse review coming soon!) It's tucked away in a corner of Lincoln Center so it's not very easy to find. The theater is small but that's what makes it so enjoyable to watch a production. There isn't a bad seat in the house and you can see every expression on the actors faces. We had amazing seats right in front of the stage and I jumped a few times when the guns went off. It was AMAZING!!! Take note that you should be sure to bring your own bottled water and snacks because damn, those cocktail prices are killer! And yes, the duck in Warhorse RULES! Yelp 365 Challenge: #279/365 (The Little Theater That Could)

Yelp
G and I had the best seats in the house to War Horse last night. By best, I mean front row left of center. We were close enough to do all the things you dream of doing at a Broadway show. LIke what you ask? - Touch the floor of the stage and confirm that it feels like rubbery asphalt. (It does.) - Attempt to swipe fake carrots props from the stage - Get a live apology from the actor who kicked a pebble into my mouth during an action scene* The theater is very intimate, which allowed for transformation of the aisles and audience seating into part of the show. Possibly this was even too engaging, as I saw someone in the audience dodge a blank. Believe you me my bucket list is looking a lot shorter now. ------------------ *Ok, you got me. There was no apology, but the pebble is the truth.
google avatar

Yelp
Small and intimate, every seat is a good seat, but I had great seats in the front row Loge. Went to see War Horse, and it was great! The seats are comfortable, and the acoustics are great. Con: LACK OF BATHROOMS!

Yelp
Beautiful theater. I saw War Horse there. Let me tell you my initial impressions, step by step: "This look so stupid. People acting like puppets." "Hmm, big Joey is awesome looking." "I love you Joey! Topthorn....you are so awesome" *sniffle, sniffle STANDING OVATION I want to go AGAIN!

My broadway musical experiences in NYC have always been further downtown (Wicked, Phantom, Hairspray, Producers...), and i'd never ventured to the Lincoln Center before, so i was very excited to check out the theatre The theatre itself was much smaller than i had anticipated and it's under renovation, so we entered by a shady looking side door which kinda dampened the experience for me a little Summary for SOUTH PACIFIC: - I LOVE the songs, especially Some Enchanted Evening, so i'm partial to the musical - The actors were great, especially Loretta Ables Sayre, who plays a Very convincing (and frankly, rather sinister) Bloody Mary - The theater is Old, so the seats are really crammed which is NOT conducive for my 5'9" frame. But this seems rather indicative of most theaters built before 1980, when supposedly, midgets roamed the earth until a sudden growth spurt occurred. Hello All in all, a great performance and I'd recommend it to anyone who's seen pretty much all the other popular musicals and is looking for one with great music, less crowds and still good performance

Yelp
I saw South Pacific here a few weeks ago, and it was one of the best experiences in a theatre ever. I'd never been to Lincoln Center before and glad I was able to, because the complex in which the theatre is located is a sight to see. Also, the theatre lobby is massive so in cold weather, you can stay inside and have a drink. The performance was sold out, and we were seated at the center orchestra, 2nd row from the back. EVERY SEAT IN THE THEATRE (esp. the orchestra sect.) is a good seat! The front of the stage extends out into the audience with the seats surrounding that section (picture a runway show but much larger!) The way it's set up, the rows are elevated so if you have a taller person in front of you, it won't really affect your view, a rarity in the theatre! This production is beautiful. 30+ orchestra, so the music really takes you away. It's a true classic (and I'm not always a fan of classical musicals), but the set and the performance and the score really do take you away to the South Pacific. One of the most lavish, effective set designs I've seen on a stage. At moments, you feel like you're on the beach or on an island! Great use of space. See it while Paolo Szot is still in the lead role (he won the Tony for the performance). His voice is worth the price of admission! ALSO GREAT FOR KIDS, because it's a classic. But they could get bored during the slower parts.

Yelp
This intimate theater is delightful. We were lucky enough to see South Pacific from the third row this past weekend. The seats were wide and comfortable, and the legroom was sufficient for my 6'4" frame. The Stand Outs: -- Huge pit allows for a large orchestra -- Stage is huge for how small the theater is. Both deep and wide. -- Friendly bartenders I really had no complaints at all. In fact, I wish every play/musical I see from here on out would be performed at this location.

Yelp
The King and I came alive at this theater. It is a cozy theater where every seat in the house has a good view. We were lucky to get seats in the second row right next to the orchestra. The stage juts out ontop of the orchestra so you feel right there in the middle of scenes apart of the show as the actors are so intimately close. The ushers are strict with the no photos policy but the theater is so beautiful it's so sad you cannot take any pictures. This show is amazing and I highly recommend it. Ken watanabe is at times hard to understand but is a beautiful actor. The kids will steal your heart and the love story will leave you in tears. Love, love, loved it!!!

Yelp
The current play, Oslo, is one of the best plays I have ever seen--wonderfully written, acted and staged; very thoughtful--and very funny!

Yelp
The King and I was a wonderful experience and there was not a bad seat anywhere. Watching this classic performance at Lincoln Center was icing on the cake.

Yelp
The theater is fine, but you're not allowed to bring your wine in. It's weird that the venue is nothing special as far as Broadway goes, but unlike at other theaters, beverages are not permitted. It would have been convenient if someone would have informed me of the same as I purchased my double Cabernet 15 mins before showtime!

Yelp
Loved the theater. The ushers were helpful as always and the theater was beautiful. During intermission, both the wife and I sat on the nicely cut theater seated communal lawn outside. Street parking was easy to find, but with all NYC street parking, read the signs... nothing is worse than getting a parking ticket... Although the theater is smaller than your usual Broadway production theater, I was not disappointed with how the show turned out. Show: The King and I

Yelp
I concur: - Easy access via subway. - Good layout with box office away from flow of crowd proceeding to theater. (Though they could have more directional signs for such an out of the way location). - Not a bad seat in the house. We sat in the first row of the balcony and at least for War Horse, this provided a great perspective that one may not have from the orchestra. - The theater is small and intimate. - LincTix deal can't be beat and serves an often overlooked population as most specials are geared for small kids or senior citizens. War Horse was GREAT! The costumes, puppetry and sets were magnificent. I was totally mesmerized.

Yelp
From a viewing standpoint there isn't a bad seat in this theater, however they are small and uncomfortable. If you are tall, plan to have your knees be in the seat in front of you. However, I just saw South Pacific last week at this theater and it was just fabulous. Truly a must see. It is a revival that has kept the core of what was wonderful about the original, but with fresh touches that make it more contemporary.

Yelp
Saw a Sunday matinee performance of the King and I (originally had tickets for a Thursday night show but when we found out that Kelli O'Hara was on vacation, we exchanged them for her first show after returning from vacation - so glad we waited because she was amazing). Because of the design of the stage and the seats in the theater, I don't think there are many bad seats except maybe the first row. I felt sorry for the ushers who had to enforce the 'No photos' policy. Despite written and verbal warnings, some people still ignored the policy. Calling Patti LuPone!
