Vlaams Friteshuis Vleminckx in Amsterdam was so good, I made sure to visit every day of my trip. I visited here after my local friend told me they had the best fries in Amsterdam, and she was surely right.
The staff are friendly and have a good knowledge of allergies; they told me that all but four of their sauces were gluten-free and suitable. The menu is printed in both English and Dutch, which makes things easier. The service is also fast and the staff speak English.
While this is primarily a grab your fries and go kinda place, there are a good number of benches around a minute’s walk away, simply come out of the side street, turn right and walk straight ahead.
The fries were so good, and a tribute to Belgium - my favourite sauces were the samurai sauce, which was spicy and creamy, and the truffle mayo, which was so rich, flavoursome and delicious.
I paid between €6 and €8.5 as I ordered a variety of sauces and portion sizes. Prices are reasonable, meaning you can grab lunch at a fair price.
Vleminckx will be at the top of my list to return to the next time I’m in Amsterdam!
