"Situated close to the otherworldly Lake Mývatn in northern Iceland , this unique café and restaurant—heralded by a simple wooden sign onthe roadway—is located in a glassed dining room insidea working farm'scowshed. Vogafjósoffers homemade local food like smoked trout, breads baked in underground geothermal ovens, raw smoked lamb, and cheese that comesfrom the very cows you can see through the venue’s windows. (Guests are welcome to visit the herd beforeor after ameal.) The farm also runs a cozy bed and breakfast, and the lake’s geothermal spa is in the vicinity, should you want to make more of an experience out of it."

"Vogafjós Cow Cafe is a restaurant near Mývatn, attached to a working dairy farm. It offers dishes like burgers and raw lamb with housemade mozzarella and geysir bread."
This review is about the restaurant, not the hotel. The restaurant is located near Myvatn Nature Bath, so it's convenient. You can view the farm and see Myvatn from a distance from the restaurant. You can also see and pet the milk cows as well. This restaurant definitely brings the concept of farm-to-table to reality. This is one of my favorite restaurants during my trip in Iceland.

We ate at the restaurant. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Delicious, good quality food. Recipes chosen to showcase the quality of the ingredients. Farm’s own lamb was delicious and the local fish too. Great vibe with windows from resturant looking into the milking and cow sheds. Our kids fed and petted the cows and learnt about milking while we waited for our dishes. Deserts were delicious too. An all round great experience and our best dining experience in Iceland by far.

We slipped in for a dinner with no reservations, but wouldn't bank on that given the line we saw on the way out. Expensive, but ingredients were fresh, food came out quickly, and we all really enjoyed our dinners. A unique experience to dine in front of cows being fed/milked.

Ate dinner here and everything was wonderful. Flavors, portions, and atmosphere were great.
When you arrive it definitely smells like a farm but once you Go inside, no smells, and very clean place.
You can view and pet the milk cows.
This would be a nice place to stay overnight as well, lots of things to check out in the town.

Location is very good. Breakfast was excellent, best we had in Iceland, although the restaurant is on the opposite side of the road so requires driving to or a 5- 10 minute walk. Room was comfortable, but noisy. We had 3 neighbors. Buildings are arranged with 4 units back to back with 4 units. We could hear conversations and bathroom noises from the surrounding units. Room was uncomfortably warm even with the window open. Beds were comfortable. Room nicely furnished with a kettle and tea and coffee.

We stayed at a Hotel near by (did not know you could book a room here too) and had early dinner here. The service has been quick and attentive and the food of high quality. Highly recommended.

We did not stay at the hotel. However, we did stop in for lunch and it was hands down the best food and cocktails we have had in Iceland on our trip so far. Absolutely incredible! Highly highly recommend! We will definitely be back on a future trip. We also pet the cows after and they were so sweet and loving!

It is a beautiful restaurant and you can see the artistry in the plating of their food.
The dining area is elegant with full length windows towards the mountains and thoughtful in the decor.
You can see the dairy cows from inside the restaurant. I know it's typical to pen the cows, but seeing them wanting to sleep but having a hard time laying on their side comfortably was disheartening.
In the end, the food was good, but I didn't think it was worth what we paid.
The lamb shank and rye bread ice cream were okay. The ones at Cafe loki in reykjavik were much better.
