Vogur Country Lodge

Great experience! The service and employee's were very friendly and offered great suggestions on things to see & do. The hotel was a little off the beaten path but personally worth the hike over. Awesome little waterfall in the back yard. We decided to eat dinner there, exceptional! Absolutely one of the best dinners we've had, and we've been here almost 2 weeks now! The room we got was great clean and the bed was very comfortable! Would highly recommend, it is definitely a little out of the way,but we'll worth it!

Everything about this place was put in place by the happiness gods. Arthur and chef almost had us happily trapped here forever. Service was so wonderful. Food was exquisite, and the rooms were comfy and clean. Would come back a million times. Thank you so much Arthur and chef!!!

Held our company retreat here to get away from the busy distractions of city life. The Landscape was beautiful. If you like to hike this offers fantastic views of the mountains, fjords and pastures. The staff were always helpful and very friendly. Food was prepared with fresh local ingredients and always impressed. Rooms are simple yet comfortable. A fantastic piece of iceland away from the city that will recharge your spirits.

I recently joined my colleagues for a company retreat at the Vogur Country Lodge.|This lodge is located in prestine country side on the south west coast 3 hrs from Reikyavik. |If you want to unplug from your busy life and reflect this is a wonderful place to do it. |The Scenery is out of this world.|The lodge offered a comfortable stay. Beyond the setting this lodge provided some of the best quality locally sourced food I've ever had. The quality, presentation and most importantly, the flavours were fantastic.|

I would say the hotel is four stars because it is in a beautiful location and very comfortable. However, it is very remote and a long drive just to get off the gravel road to go anywhere. The food I would give five stars. The restaurant was phenomenal for dinner and the breakfast was also excellent. Please note the breakfast is an additional charge. However, service at the restaurant I would give two stars. We stayed at the hotel for two nights. The first night we decided to eat before moving our things into our room because we were hungry after our long drive. The service that night was excellent and the restaurant was busy but I did notice that they were giving lots of attention to us and not serving people who had been seated before us. The second night we were completely ignored. When we arrived at the restaurant, there were only two other tables with customers. We sat down at a table, and proceeded to wait and wait and wait while four other groups, who arrived after us, were handed menus and had their orders taken and drinks served. When my husband got up to ask for menus, we were told we needed to be patient. I am a very patient person, but not when I’m obviously being ignored, and all the tables surrounding us were being served and helped, and no one was even looking at us as they passed our table. Our table only two place settings for four of us. When we finally got our food, the owner seemed very put out because we needed 2 more place settings. His waiter from Poland was delightful. I really appreciated his positive, happy attitude and attention when we needed something. He gets a 5 but the manager’s attitude, rudeness and lack of caring about returning customers gets 1 star. After reading previous reviews I can see that his customer service needs help. But the young man from Poland was wonderful! This hotel restaurant is the only place to eat being so far out. They need a better way to serve all the customers. They should know that the majority of the people staying at the hotel will be eating there and devise a plan to be able to serve everyone. They should either have more people working or they should have a reservation/sign up list so that everybody doesn’t come during the same hour which seemed to be between 7:30 and 8:30. The food was excellent, but the manager was not polite and it was like he had already won us over the night before, so there was no need to impress us and instead would be attentive to the new patrons.

The staff was nice person , he can introduce foods from chef there and chef is great to created menu to amazing so i oderd local trout fish from that place wirj sauce , isn't fishy as i try to ate before in another country in Euro so my bf odered chicken it's deally good with rise and sauce , for the room was clean amd fhey had jacuzzi as as well , breatfasr was also nice , the place perfect to relaxing if you would like to see peace of your life then must visit them coz behide hotel have beautiful water fall as well., I'm.from Thailand amd my bf from Austria , i would like to tell.you don'r miised tis hotel and don't judge them because the road untill you stay there , so appreciated for your sevice , foods and anythings ❤❤❤

This place was fantastic! The drive to the location was spectacular, despite some portion of the trek being unpaved, but not as wild as a true F road in Iceland. Assuming that the gent who manned the counter most of the time was/is the owner, he was great. Fantastic sense of humor and great with providing information on the local area and things to do. The place was clean, beautiful and there is even a waterfall on the property that you can easily walk to. Additionally, they have a restaurant attached to the property and the food was exceptional. We used the location as our base to drive the whole Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Would love to go back and stay longer.

Had a wonderful time in Iceland. We did a self guided tour with a rental vehicle and this was one of the seven places we stayed, and was definately the best. I've been to some top notch hotels in my life, and this place has it all. Not being able to stay longer at this particular establishment is one of our few regrets about our stay in Iceland. It is fairly remote, so I would recommend arranging at least some of your meals here. Also, you will need to drive down long, narrow, gravel, rural roads, but GPS got us there no problem, and they're in the process of widening the roads now. (Get the extra insurance on the car) Well worth the drive (which is beautiful BTW).
