Overall Rating: 2/5 Stars
The setting and some facilities are great, but serious service related problems ruined what should have been an amazing trip.
What We Loved
Location, Beach and Pool Area (5/5): Really nice. The beach is warm and calm and the pool area was better than we expected.
Tours & Activities (4/5): The snorkeling and deep sea fishing were great.
General Facilities (4/5): Good amenities including some wildlife, Padel courts, and gym. These parts of the resort are genuinely good.
General Staff (5/5): The housekeeping, doctor, and general staff were lovely—friendly, professional.
Major Concerns (significantly bringing the rating down)
Reception & Management: This is where things fell apart. The reception manager and front desk staff were slow and unhelpful at best, and at times rude. Here’s what happened: 1) No one helped with our bags—we’re a big group and had to haul 16 bags upstairs ourselves, even after asking for help; 2) We paid our bill the night before leaving to avoid any morning rush, but surprise—they hit us with extra charges as we’re heading out the door. Then showed us two different bills and couldn’t explain why; 3) Their card machines didn’t work while our taxi sat there waiting; 4) Had to practically beg for payment receipts.
Language Barrier/Bias: We’re English speakers and honestly felt like second-class guests compared to Italians, especially with management. Maybe it’s the language barrier, but it’s not an excuse. Also, all entertainment was only in Italian.
No Complimentary Water: Recieved one 500ml bottle per person when we arrived with one 1 litre bottle for the room. After that, nothing. For a 4-star resort with full package pricing, this seems cheap.
Limited WiFi: No WiFi in rooms, only common areas. Inconvenient.
Dining Experience: The restaurant area had poor cleanliness standards (based on food handling and utensil cleaning practices I observed). I spent half the trip sick in the room with stomach issues and I was not the only one. Reading other reviews this seems to be common at the resort which, based on their responses, are avoiding responsibility and accountability and refuse to even consider that there might be an issue. Ive taken the liberty to read through a significant sample of reviews and I can't remember an instance where they have taken responsibility for a complaint in the responses. I've been to at least 3 resorts in Africa and outside with harsh climates, and haven't been sick on those trips.
Bottom Line
This place has so much potential with the location and facilities, but the service problems and outdated rooms/reception really let it down.
I can’t recommend it. Save yourself the frustration and look at other resorts in Madagascar.
If you ignore this advice: get everything in writing before checkout and leave plenty of extra time on departure day for billing drama. AND be very particular about what you eat!
UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO THE RESORTS REPLY
Your response misses the point entirely and some of it appears to be a copy-paste reply you’ve used for other guests—which ironically proves my point about lack of genuine service. It also doesn't address all the issues raised, just those you've tried to explain away.
I never disputed the charge. The problem was the unprofessional handling. Basic service means communicating this when we settled up the night before. I read your website and wasn’t surprised with the WiFi/water situation, my point is this is bare minimum for a resort claiming to be 4-star. You’ve confirmed the resort caters primarily to Italian guests. That’s your choice, but advertise it clearly so others know what to expect. The Real Issue: Instead of acknowledging concerns and explaining how you’ll improve, you made excuses. A professional response would have been: “We’re sorry you felt this way. Here’s what we’re doing better…”
This response tells future guests everything they need to know about your service and sincerity.
