"Meditation and yoga gurus Eva Dögg Rúnarsdóttir and Dagný Berglind Gísladóttir, co-founders of online wellness program RVK Ritual, recommend venturing east for some state-of-the-art zen. “Our favourite is VÖK baths, a hot spring destination in the middle of a lake,” says Gísladóttir. “You can chill in water that is so pure it is certified drinkable, or jump in the lake and swim for some cold therapy.”"

Vök Baths is located at Lake Urriðavatn just off the Ring Road a few km northwest of Egilsstaðir. Opening hours are 10am to 11pm (summer) and 12pm to 10pm (winter), entrance can be reserved through their website online or upon arrival which is what we did. There is a large carpark outside the Vök Baths. Access to the pools is 7490kr per adult, you can also rent bathing suits, towels and robe. Access includes lockers in the shower room. Lockers are controlled by way of a wrist bracelet provided. You can purchase drinks in the pool bar with the bracelet as well, settling your tab upon departure. Shower facility is large and fine. Includes toilets, hair dryers and plenty of showers to use prior to accessing the pools. There are three main hot pools each at different temperatures. The outer two pools have direct access to the lake, allowing you to dip into 10 degree cold water for a bit before returning to the hot pools. There is also a sauna and entry includes free cup of tea from their tea bar prior to leaving the Vök Baths grounds. Lastly, there is a bistro here as well for those who fancy a meal as part of the Vök Baths experience.

The Vök Baths are fantastic. Located on a beautiful lake, this smaller facility houses three pools. One is about your body temperature, one hot, and the third hotter. Two of the three are infinity pools on the lake. Ladders line the edge of the deck to allow for cold plunging in the lake. The temp of the lake in the summer time is around 50F. The facility is incredibly clean and the staff is beyond friendly. Upon arrival you get your RFID bracelet and enter, finding a locker to store your belongings in. From there everyone showers off before entering the water. Once in the pools there’s a walk up bar with delicious smoothies, beer, wine, and all you can drink fresh Icelandic water. When we were there, we had a large group of 150 and they closed the facility just for our group in the morning which was an incredible experience. They are very accommodating and the selection of tea at the end is delicious and refreshing after hours in the spa. If you’re around this area I highly recommend it as it’s very spread out, and the cold plunging experience in the lake is fantastic compared to other facilities. There is also a cafe should you be hungry, and the location is perfect. This may be one of the less touristy geothermal baths to visit in Iceland. 10/10 would recommend.

Vök Baths Review – A Peaceful Retreat in East Iceland is Located just outside Egilsstaðir, it’s set on the edge of Lake Urriðavatn, and the views are absolutely stunning. The design is modern but blends beautifully with nature. You literally step into warm floating pools that extend over the lake — it felt like being in a dream. What I really appreciated was how calm and uncrowded it was, especially compared to the more famous spas like Blue Lagoon. It felt much more intimate and peaceful, which is exactly what I needed. The temperature of the pools was perfect 38-40, 40-41— warm and soothing, but not too hot. Some had different levels of heat, so you could choose what felt best. The tea bar was such a lovely touch. You get a complimentary herbal tea, made with locally foraged herbs, and can sip it in your robe while relaxing between dips. The indoor changing rooms were spotless and well-organized, with plenty of lockers and space to shower. If you’re in East Iceland and want a quiet, rejuvenating experience in nature without the big tourist crowds, Vök Baths is a must. It felt luxurious in a very natural, grounded way. I left feeling completely refreshed, body and mind. And if you are brave enough jump to the lake temperature between and 8-10c . In case of strong winds, go down the stairs and do not let go of them.

We enjoyed it here. We took a bus tour from Seyðisfjörður, which was absolutely incredible, breathtaking scenery. Past beautiful waterfalls, over snow-capped mountains and down into the next valley past another small town lies Vōk Baths. This is quite a new facility but it is very open to the strong winds and not a lot of shelter. The pools are floating on a lake and you can even take a cold dip right beside the hot pools. There is a steam room as well as a cold mist tunnel. Our tour included the use of a towel for our stay there (otherwise you pay to rent) also soup, bread and tea afterward. The soup was delicious. Showers and change rooms were very clean and well kept. Large spacious open shower area and a few private shower options too. Swim up bar where you could buy alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages and smoothies. An enjoyable stay here, and you could easily spend several hours.

Great check in check out experience. You can stay as long as you want once you’re there. Kind of cool to be able to go into the Lake as well as the Bath. The steam room is extremely hot. Very comfortable changing areas clean bathrooms.

It was so nice relaxing in the tubs on the lake, a beautiful experience. When you walk into the changing rooms, they are bigger than they appear; don't hesitate to get a locker further in as it's less crowded. A dip in lake is highly recommended!

We had a lovely evening at Vok baths. We arrived at 7pm and didn’t leave until closing at 10pm. The baths were quiet and very warm and there is the opportunity to use the lake as a cold plunge. We enjoyed the swim up bar and the sauna. Staff were friendly and attentive. Facilities were very clean. There are hairdryers and lotion for after swimming. There is also a free tea bar with locally sourced tea leaves. Much more affordable than the Blue Lagoon or Sky Lagoon! Highly recommend

This was our favourite lagoon in Iceland! My daughter (10) and I came by after a long day in the road and had a wonderful time. She had made a friend at the Blue Lagoon a few days earlier, and we met him again here. It turns out that we all live in the same city and a short drive away. What are the odds?! Of course this may have had something to do with Vok being our favourite lagoon, it overall the ambiance and scenery are to die for.
