We really enjoyed our stay at Volcano Lodge. The hot springs were well designed to give you privacy if desired. We had a rental car, so it was a great location for touring and hiking, with a quick drive to town when needed. After touring in the mornings, we spent the afternoons in the pool, which was really refreshing. They also had a nice happy hour with two-for-one drinks. Breakfast was included and all the food was excellent. The staff were also great, with quick service. We were there with another couple, but the lodge has a large play structure for children so we would definitely like to bring family back next time.

Volcano Lodge's grounds were well maintained and beautiful to walk around. Hotel staff were able to accommodate our request to have two rooms next to each other which was more convenient since the resort is very spread out. Rooms are very basis, dark, and a bit outdated. Upon arrival one of rooms smelled very strong of mold and there was an army of ants running from the front to back door. Staff were very attentive and came back right away with a dehumidifier and spray. Because of heavy rains prior to our arrival, this can be common in Costa Rica. We also had hot water and water pressure issues in the shower during our 3-night stay. Ubers are easy to book from this area to catch a cab into La Fortuna for dinner. Because of the weather during our stay, we dined at the onsite restaurant two nights and also enjoyed happy hour. Pool seating was limited, but comfortable. Once the sun came out, we had a great view of the volcano. While the pool at Volcano Lodge is lovely, we paid for a day pass to the Springs Resort down the street to enjoy their hot springs and pool which was a nice break. A complimentary buffet breakfast is provided at each morning and laundry service is available for an additional cost onsite. A highlight of our trip was the bird feeding by the pool at breakfast each morning - it attracted many local, colorful birds that are native to Costa Rica. While Volcano Lodge was convenient for this trip which we booked last minute, the area offers many other resort options in the same area that are worth exploring.

We just came back from Volcano Lodge and thermal experience. We had a wonderful stay. Our room had a private thermal water jacuzzi. The restaurant and the spa were outstanding. The service throughout the hotel was amazing. We booked several activities like zilining and water rafting and had lots of fun! We will definitely go back!

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Volcano Lodge. We had great food and enjoyed the thermal pools and bar at night. The grounds were beautiful and we even saw a sloth near our room. We had great experiences with the staff and definitely would recommend!

Volcano Lodge is a nice hotel with beautiful gardens. The hot springs were amazing. Parking was included, which was very convenient since we had a rental car. Breakfast was also included, and all the food was delicious. The staff were kind and friendly. The only area for improvement we noticed was the furniture and lighting. Instead of just a table mirror, a mirrored dresser and a chest of drawers would be more convenient for guests. Additionally, the furniture could use some renovation. We booked the special massage, and it was the best massage we’ve ever had.

Lovely experience in the Arenal Volcano Londge. The garden and main restaurant have views of the volcano, get a suite / room with a private hot spring jacuzzi and you will be delighted!! Breakfast is yum, dinner menu quite good (maybe a bit pricey but a great one to have when there is no energy left for a drive) and the hot springs and pools are really cool! Also a very kids friendly hotel with a play area! Rooms are a bit small though and beds are not the comfiest (change the pillows please they are like rocks!! 🤓) other than that a great place to stay! And lots to do in the area - just a short drive away!

The hotel was nice and felt very private. The breakfast was delicious each day. We had a good view from our room but the wifi was a little spotty in certain areas of our room. The hot springs were a great temperature and not crowded. A few of our tours wouldn't pick us up because we were too far from the main town so keep that in mind when picking your tour company.

The grounds at Volcano Lodge are absolutely beautiful – lush, peaceful, and well cared for. The setting is serene and the natural surroundings are what make this property stand out.||Unfortunately, the rest of our experience was a bit uneven. While the staff were very kind, the restaurant service was slow and the breakfast buffet offered very limited variety. We had the same few items available each day, and on our first night, one of our drinks was served with a fly in it – not the best first impression.||Our room felt a little outdated and the bed was very firm, making it hard to get a good night’s sleep. That said, the thermal pools were a lovely way to unwind and the location itself is ideal for exploring the Arenal area.||With a few improvements in food quality, variety, and room comfort, this could be a truly great place to stay.
