When in Netherlands one must try the famous pickled herring! Was not sure how I would like it but it did not disappoint. Anyone who likes pickled anything with that sour taste will LOVE this. Combination of the herring, pickles, and onion on a warm bun is perfection. The service is insanely quick as well. No seating but there are two tables for standing to eat setup just outside.

Loved this place for the delicious fish! First of all the street where's its located is buzzing with life on a sunny day, great vibe. Went here around 1pm on a Friday and there was only a short queue. Got the Herring sandwich and the kibbling for about €11 and they were so good! There is no seating only 2 big round tables you'll share with others. I'd love to go back!

Ordered an order of kibbeling that comes with 6 pieces for 6.50 €. Very nicely seasoned, lightly crispy, tender meat. Friendly staff. Only downside is that it is slightly more expensive than other stalls on the same street, but good quality. I'd come again

Tried raw herring here for the first time with my wife whilst here on honeymoon in Amsterdam. Raw herring was one of the Dutch specialties that came highly recommended on Reddit, and by foodies. I can honestly say that it was the most delicious fish dish I’ve ever tried. The warm bun, pickles, and chopped onion really complemented the flavour profile of the herring and helped cut through the raw taste, however, I didn’t really mind it without, either. I love sashimi so it was nice to try a European raw fish staple for the first time. This shop is located off the Albert Cuypstraat and Albert Cuyp Markt. Definitely well worth visiting. You won’t regret it, and the staff are all so lovely and friendly.

Fresh herring was delicious and made several converts out of some of our hesitant eaters. Fried cod is super tasty with their homemade sauce

First time trying Pickled Herring- though honestly it was much better than I expected, maybe not fully my thing as it was indeed a little bit fishy. But the pickles and onions really helped to cover that particular taste! Would try again if I was in the area.

Perfect place to eat fish. We got on last minute and got some final salmon tartar and salmon salad.... soooo good! Bread across the street.

Was recommended to this shop by a friend and this shop did NOT disappoint at all! the herring was incredibly delicious with the most velvety texture! the combination of herring with pickles and onions was just magical! The fried herring was also perfect and the fish so perfectly flakey. We also tried the herring in the bread roll, however IMO the herring by itself with the pickle and the onion was definitely the way to consume it. This place is a hidden gem and absolutely worth visiting if/when you are in Amsterdam.

This was the most unique thing I ate in Amsterdam! We got the pickled herring, eel sandwich, and shrimp. The herring was similar to sushi and the eel and shrimp were in a yummy sauce

While I would say it's not like it was my FAV thing I had in Amsterdam, I will say that if I'm going to try the herring this was definitely the spot as it was high quality, super fresh, and actually not going to lie... I did kind of enjoy it when you slathered it up with onions and pickles. Though, the fried cod fritters were the jam! Wow, those were super tasty and I would snarf those down any damn day. I would definitely recommend a stop here on your trip to try the Dutch delicacy!

Smoked eel and herring on the food tour. I feel for my tourmates who were not nearly as courageous at eating these but hey, that's more for me. I like the herring, I really did. Fresh, light, obviously fishy but with the onion and pickle, delicious. Great service and a great snack. I'd have to return here and see what other delicious stuff they have. If you like fresh and smoked fish, this is the place to get it. Incredibly good and extremely well priced. Matjes in spring, smoked eel, salmon, krabbeling all excellent.

OMG, the Salmon Bon Bon blew up my taste buds and ruptured my texture evaluator! What a delight! Moreover, the quality, freshness, and value of their display items were on point. The staff was really helpful to English speakers and took the time to explain where the fish came from and how it was prepared. Next time I'm in town, this is the first place I'll visit for a fresh fish snack!!

The kibbeling (fried cod pieces) are delicious here. This is a fairly full service fish market with excellent staff. Prices are reasonable and there is a colorful selection pf other fish options. The selections are fresh and prepared to order. Worth the wait in line which moves quickly.

So many fresh options, wish we could've tried them all. We did try the herring. Great flavors. I wish they had more seats, though. It would making eating more convenient. Prices were decent.

My favorite place when I was visiting Amsterdam! There are so many things to try, so bring a friend and order a little bit of everything. My favorites were the kibbeling and fried mussels - so fresh and surprisingly light for fried food. The salmon, smoked eel, and shrimp are also great, and make sure to try the herring if you've never had it before.

I was by myself wandering around this cute neighborhood (De Pijp) in Amsterdam looking for a quick lunch before meeting up with some friends. The area is full of vibrant cafes and boutiques nearby the Albert Cuyp Market. I stumbled upon this amazing seafood eatery/market which is about a 5-8 minute walk from the Heineken Experience. There was a long line of locals so I knew it had to be good. This isn't a fancy, sit-down seafood restaurant/cafe. Actually, there's no seats at all except a few tables outside where you can stand, eat your food quickly, and leave. You order up front from an extensive menu of various raw, fried, and cooked seafood to-go or on a disposable plate. I wanted to try everything, especially since it was so inexpensive for seafood! I ended up ordering mackerel on a bread roll and some type of fried fish with a creamy lemon sauce on the side, all for under 5euros. For the month I was traveling throughout Europe, this was definitely the best and cheapest meal I had.

The best kibbeling and knoflook-sauce in whole Amsterdam! Every time since we moved here and visit Albert Cuyp market we get a bakje of kibbeling! There is always a lot of customers and you get the kibbeling fresh and hot!

Fantastic - the nieuwe haring was the best we had on our trip to Amsterdam, and the kibbling with whiskey sauce is served fresh, piping hot, and is completely, addictively, delicious.
