Volksoper Wien

Wonderful theater with a wide variety of plays and activities throughout much of the year. Great view from virtually any seat. Plenty of restrooms, cloakrooms and cafeterias. Tickets can be purchased online which makes it very convenient. There is a parking garage nearby at a very good price and within a 5 minute walk.

While it may not live up to the vienna state opera, it's still a place worth visiting. The opera is high quality and tickets are more reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly and allowed us in (during applauses) even though we were a bit late, although on the ticket it's stated that you're only allowed in during intermission if you're late.

Absolutely worth the visit if you’re in Vienna! I attended for a show in the evening on a Saturday night. It was pretty chaotic, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get there, find your seat, and get settled. The employees were quite kind but they do enforce the rules so please be aware of them before you go. The cafe in the opera house had nice offerings and was priced accordingly for the location. Definitely a night to remember.

Last night we saw Mozart’s Magic Flute in the city it premiered in 1791. Wonderful music, incredibly silly story line that I never paid attention to as I only listened to the music. I thought it was going to be a small production and was surprised to see 25+ musicians and at least 40 members of the cast (including non speaking / singing extras). Well worth the price. Well loved theater in great condition.

It is not the State Opera, but it is a good working opera house. Good performances!View obstruction in some seats.

Such a lovely experience! We went to see The Sound Of Music. The cast was super talented and the production is so extra! It's such an amazing show for the value, in a beautiful theater. Would go again for sure.

We went to see the Magic Flute and it was a wonderful performance. They are very talented and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the opera. It was a first for all of us. We read up on the story in advance and that really helped familiarize ourselves with the characters and the plot. The English subtitles were very helpful as well. Sometimes it was fun to just close my eyes and listen to the music. The orchestra was amazing. We were dressed appropriately with collared shirts and pants for the men and the girls wore dresses and a long, dressy jumper. There were a few people with shorts on but not many, even though it was really hot.
