Volume in Piazza Santo Spirito is the kind of bar that defines Florence’s cool local scene. We stumbled upon it after dinner and were immediately drawn in by the music and buzzing crowd. Inside, it’s artsy, a little grungy, and very authentic. There’s mismatched furniture, funky art on the walls, and a laid-back staff that makes you feel at home. The cocktail menu is straightforward, with classics and a few creative options – my gin basil smash was fresh and spot on. Prices are very reasonable (€8–€10), and the crowd is mostly locals and art students, which makes for a fun and vibrant atmosphere. The piazza outside is always lively, and it’s a great place to people-watch with a drink in hand. No pretension, no frills – just a genuine, good-vibes bar that feels real. Definitely one of the more unique finds in Florence. If you're tired of fancy spots and just want to chill somewhere that’s full of character, this is your place.

Google
fav spot in Firenze for aperitivo! Great service, music and atmosphere. I came alone, sat at the bar and was immediately greeted with a tray of treats! Live music started shortly on the in house piano. Met another girl, also there alone, then assured me of was the spot for going solo without being bothered! Out and indoor tables and friendly staff. A must go!

Amazing little bar, came here for an aperitif and it was one of our favourite bars in Italy! Great staff and drinks. The snacks were amazing. Watch out for the pigeons (we named them Peter and Paul) we used a straw to bat them away and after that they left us alone haha!

What a find. Located on a popular piazza with great atmosphere. Superb cocktails, free tray of hors d’ouvre and great service. Best to get there early as it’s very popular. Most cocktails are 9€ and excellent. Definitely a bar to include.

The worst Aperol with an artificial taste. We asked to have it changed, but were told that it was already mixed and nothing could be done. So we just left all three glasses. The only discount we received was the removal of the service tip.

Piazza Santo Spirito, 3, 50125 Firenze FI, Italy is an okay restaurant. Some of the food is good and some just okay. We got a pasta and pesto dish that was sub-par. They brought the table (4 people) a round of complimentary Lemon Liquor shots. That really did not get it... Still charged for the pasta. The service is just okay also. I am not sure they care a great deal about the customer. The location is great.

This place is amazing, it’s a museum, a library, a cafe bar and they serve food! But, they are seriously understaffed so the service is slow and if you order cocktails, you won’t taste any alcohol (the place is not cheap, why cut out the alcohol?!). It’s located in Piazza di Santo Spirito and it really is a lively place but I’m sure there are better places to have cocktails in Florence.

Great and nice place! the atmosphere is chill, the staff are really nice people, they speak English. The prices are good 1-8 euros. The food and coffee is delicious and they serve good portions. If you want to go local, this is the place! Music is Italian and English rock and metal.

Yelp
I'd give anything to be here right now instead of inside during week 8 of social distancing. We came to this cafe every day when we stayed in Florence. We were a quick walk across the river. I'd get 2-3 cappuccinos because I need a lot of caffeine in the morning. Plus the pastries. My god. Italian breakfasts are my kryptonite. The service was rude. Who gives a shit! On our last day the bartender asked me where I was from and when I said NJ outside of NY she became nice and gave me free stuff. Thanks lady!

Yelp
Came here because I needed to pause my exploring for an afternoon coffee. I had read about this place as having a unique interior and decor, and I would say it was pretty hipster inside. I wasn't in the mood for a drink at this time of day, but the drink prices were very reasonable, and there was some nice outdoor seating in the square of Santo Spirito.

Yelp
Great drinks and bartenders. Nice free food at the bar early evening; olives, onions, artichokes, chips, crackers, peanuts. Nearly enough for dinner! They make a great Spritz and strong Negronis.

Yelp
How can you not like a caffe in Italy that manages to combine a hip, artisan feel with some pretty wonderful cocktails? Volume is in my neighborhood in Piazza Santa Croce and I often stop by for a coffee during the day or better yet, a drink ( Moscow mule of course) at nighttime. They have a very cool outdoor space where you can grab a table and chat with friends all night long. The only downside here is that it can get way too crowded, especially after 8pm. You likely are better off grabbing a drink and taking it with you in the piazza. Volume is a gem in the oltrarno

Yelp
Nice music... good drinks and gorgeous waiters. What more can u ask for? The location? Well, this too as Volume is right in the heart of one of the most historic neighborhoods of Florence: Santo Spirito! Not well known by tourists as other center areas of the city, the area offers so much... restaurants, gelaterias, bars ...

Yelp
Bustling and full of energy. Good selection of beer and wines. The food looked great too.

Yelp
Our favorite place to hang out either in the morning for a cappuccino or in the evening for a drink and snacks. Friendly and accommodating staff. Spritz and appetizers for 6 euros. We've been here everyday during our stay in Florence.

Yelp
We came for brunch on an uncrowded mid-morning. Crepes and espresso macchiato were good, but the waitress was so passive-aggressive it must have been on purpose. She dropped the menu board on the floor instead of handing it to me, took a look, and walked off. Things went downhill from there. We were well dressed and polite, but somehow not in their target demographic. You probably aren't either.

Yelp
Very cool vibe going on here. We came for a quick aperitivo around 7pm on a Thursday. The place was packed! We were lucky enough to grab a seat that was reserved for a later party. The aperitivo food was not that great and pretty standard (chips, dip, bread) and the drinks were not anything special but the atmosphere was very "Italian hipster" and had a cool vibe going on in an otherwise touristy town.

Yelp
Cool bar/care with good ambience. Nice place to sit and enjoy the beautiful weather. We ordered two glasses of wine for 5 euro each and the bartender poured a nice size glass full. There's was some cool decor and interesting seats.

Yelp
Guess I should have paid more attention to the descriptions -- this place was definitely loud, packed and a little stuffy when we came by. It's located in a peaceful square. We had some gelato nearby and hung out in the square, which was more the pace I was looking for that night.

Yelp
Originally the workshop of Florentine wood sculptor, Alfonso Bini. Now a cafe & bar, Where the hip locals hang out. Cafe by day, bustling bar by night. Aperitivo: €1.50 on top of your drink for a board of cheese, meats, sauces, chips, olives. Wine €5+, cocktails €8+, coffee €1.50+. Live music some nights. Great relaxed energy & I always eat and drink well. Of course, prices aren't horrible but you can definitely spend enough in here you won't come everyday... wish I could, though. I love Volume.

Yelp
I had bookmarked volume to try for happy hour during our recent trip to florence, however somehow we ended up (by coincidence) next door on our very first day, trying to find wifi and escaping from the rain. We returned a day later, and tried volume. As the outdoor areas for all three restaurants/bars in a row were pretty full, and it was getting chilly, we sat inside. Sadly, the service was virtually nonexistent, despite inquiring with the bartender, we were informed that we had a server, who would take our order...he never did, so after awhile we returned to order at the bar, and then bring the drinks over (we were some of the only people indoors and servers passed nonstop, so it wasn't for lack of staff). I inquired about one drink that sounded similar to a drink i love in nyc - a pepper infused vodka martini - but it tasted VERY strange, and not at all jalapeno or peppery...also it came with a lemon wedge, which really didn't seem consistent with the concept of the drink. We went back to the bar to eventually just trade it in for a white wine (as neither of us could force ourselves to drink it), but on the plus side, they did drop some free apps (humus, olives, chip type stuff) which my boyfriend enjoyed (and many places seem to offer as well, at happy hour time). All in all, I'd probably visit one of the two neighboring restaurants which we preferred, but i definitely love the concept of the bar!

Yelp
I love this bar; it was originally a carpenter's shop (as evidenced by the tools and wood models that adorn the walls) and has a wonderfully unpretentious vibe. The drinks are awesome, and the nonalcoholic drinks (Arcobaleno di Sonia!) are just as good as the ones with vodka. Come in for aperitivo, or even during the day when the locale serves sweet and savory crepes. Mmm. Be warned: on Saturdays it gets CROWDED. Like, people-squeezed-up-against-complete-strangers crowded. But fortunately, its location in Piazza Santo Spirito makes it easy to spill out into the square. It's especially nice in the summer, when they have live bands.

Yelp
This place is definitely worth the walk. If you're sick and tired of rude city locals and tourists, this is the right place to chillax. And best of all most of the customers are locals and not tourists, so the prices are not jacked up; the drinks are simply affordable and of quality. You simply order your drink and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere, no pressure when you have to pay the bill, as long as it's before you leave the store. There was no cover charge when I sat inside the store. I'm not sure whether there is one for the outdoor seatings. With that being said don't expect to be served right away.

Yelp
On a rainy or lazy day, volume is the perfect go-to to hunker down and dive into a book or long conversation. Their coffee is reliably enjoyable, their mimosas are sparkling, and their food is as savory or sweet as you can imagine. It's buzzing at night, but during the day it's a neatly designed nook of eclecticism.

Yelp
Great cocktails at a good price, friendly service and a lovely atmosphere in the piazza Santo Spirito. Heartily recommend the Bellini and Manhattan!

Yelp
Interesting decor , found it by accident when we lived here 2010-2011. Great appertivo, spend 5/6 € and get huge platter of crudités, dips and chips. Can get crowded and loud. But they play good music.

Yelp
Let me just start out by saying Volume is great, it's location is great, it's coffee is great, and it's patrons are great. Volume is located in one of the nicest Piazza's in Florence. The Santo Spirito area is beaming with life, there are artisanal shops everywhere you walk with a very local vibe, you will rarely see tourist groups in this section of town, which makes it very desirable for expats, locals, or anyone else trying to get away from the noise. Volume is a very popular hang out spot for students because of their free wi-fi, but you will also frequently see Italian men playing "scopa" a traditional Italian card game, photographers taking pictures, and people simply meeting for a coffee. The building itself is very interesting, it's a very open space for a café, their chairs are for the most part very low to the ground, and with all the old wood working tools and sculptures around, in a way you feel like you're in a working wood shop. For me it's a place I can go to get away from all the English. I love talking to the baristas or local patrons there to practice my italian, and because of their free daily newspapers I can keep up on current events while sipping my macchiato. In my opinion Volume has one of the best coffees in town, and at 80 cents, it's a lower price than most bars. My one negative note about Volume is the prices outside of coffee. They charge up to 8 euros for a crepe! Although they are delicious, it's a bit ridiculous compared to the 3-5 euro price most other establishments in Florence offer. Overall thought I would would say Volume is definitely worth a try. Keep an open mind when you go there, try and speak some Italian (it is very much appreciated), and enjoy the experience!

Yelp
This was such a cool bar. Do they have hipsters in Italy? This is where they'd hang out. It was quite busy on a Tuesday night, with a very mixed crowd of trendy young and middle aged/older folks listening to some young guys play guitar and sing pop songs in Italian. It was completely delightful. Lots of random chairs and couches, but also a big standing crowd. It's a bit small and cramped but get to know your neighbors. If you're lucky like me, the person sitting near you might have a dog you can snuggle! One of the best parts about Italy is they more freely allow dogs in public establishments. We were here late, and missed aperitivo, but I know we'll check it out again next time we come back to the city. Such a cool, almost coffeehouse-like vibe.

Yelp
Volume is a well known local and hipster hangout located right in Santo Spirito in the Oltrarno area. It's a good place for a morning cappuccino or fresh squeezed juice, a meet up during the day, or for apperitivo and drinks later on into the night. Very typical Florence.

Yelp
If given a choice between purgatory and paradise, skip them both and come here. The people are amazing, the snacks served after 7 are DEEELIIISH And the service is slow. Loved this place nonstop. You will too!

Yelp
6 Euros for a Mojito. Not bad. Not bad. A load of Italians crowd outside this bar on the plaza. This is the perfect bar for people who want to get next to that.

Yelp
Nice bar popular among the young fiorentini and foreigners alike. Good breakfast and great for the aperitivo.
