We stayed here on our first and last night in Windhoek as it was close to Savannah car hire. Pleased with the accommodation and breakfast. Secure parking. Helpful staff - we wanted to eat in so a takeaway was ordered but the manager also made restaurant bookings and arranged taxis.

I spent a month at the Cheetah Conservation Fund, and needed to overnight in Windhoek one night before leaving Namibia. There were several options, but I chose the Vondelhof Guesthouse, and I am glad I did! Staff was very friendly and helpful (more later), the location was perfect for me (I needed to visit the Namibian Craft Marketplace for a shawl and jewelry to complete an outfit I'd bought in Otjiwarango), and coincidentally, it was also near the restaurant I'd identified prior to visiting Namibia as a potential for this vegetarian.||I arrived about 3pm to check in, and was shown to room 4. This is a double bed, with an extra guest bed, in the back corner of the property. There is no aircon, but I was able to use the fan and open up some windows for fresh air. The decor and space was absolutely perfect after a month in the bush! ||I asked the staff at the front desk how to get to the Namibian Craft Marketplace. Turns out it was a short walk (less than 15 minutes), so rather than taking a taxi I decided to get some steps in. They did warn me to not bring a backpack or large purse, and to be aware of my surroundings as I walked (especially if I was on the main roads). They did NOT warn me about the crazy drivers, who seem to turn on a red light! Fortunately for me, I was already used to traffic on the opposite side, so I was looking in the correct direction.||At the Namibian Craft Centre, I found what I was looking for (a shawl to cover my shoulders) at one of the little booths. I also managed to grab some seasonings. Then I headed over to the Craft Bistro (see my review) for a late lunch.||Upon my return to the Vondelhof Guesthouse, I realized I'd made a mistake with what time I needed to leave the next morning (I already had a driver lined up to take me to Hosea Kutako International Airport, about 30+ minutes away. I would need to eat at about 6am for a 6:45am pickup. Licius, at the front desk, said he would make be a box lunch as that was quite early (he asked what kind of sandwich I'd want, the fruit, and the juice). Less than an hour later, there was a knock on my door, and he delivered a bag stuffed with all the things I had said plus more!! A cheese (with lettuce and tomato) sandwich, a small cup of yogurt, a banana, an apple, apple juice, a bottle of water, and several small packages of snacks (nuts/raisins, fruit chews, etc). This was almost enough for breakfast AND lunch, and it was ALL delicious!! (Thank you, Licius, for taking the time to make such a perfect box brekkie!)||It had been a bit drizzly on my walk back from the Craft Centre, but by nightfall the sky really opened up. Pouring rain, and scads of thunder and lightning. I took some video of the lightning (it really lit up the sky), then rearranged my luggage, and crawled into bed about 10pm. After a month of sleeping in the bush, the linens felt fabulous on my skin. The toiletries (Kalahari Roiboos soap) in the shower the next day were lovely. ||I almost wish I could stay another day, but... I had a flight out at 9:30am. I highly recommend the Vondelhof Guesthouse! Service was great, there's a cute little lounge, pool, and bar area. I originally had thought to take advantage of their spa services, but I really didn't have time (I hadn't planned to shop in Windhoek, and that took priority).

Thank you for the great stay! We arrived in Windhoek at 7 pm after a very long trip (more than 26 hours). Likius was our host and welcomed us in the guesthouse. We were very tired and not in the mood to go to a restaurant in town. So Likius suggested to make us a dinner. He made us beef with a salad and sweet potato fries, which was very tasteful. Our room was very nice and clean. We also had our own terrace with sunbeds. The next evening Likius made us a reservation at Joe's Beerhouse and arranged a taxi for us. The breakfast was good. We really enjoyed our short stay here.

Arrived after an 18 day tour through Namibia. Started with being overcharged for the room at $1900, when it was advertised for $1700. Poor service at the front desk (not sure if it was because they were hot or?). I just think the environment could have been slightly more welcoming and warm. Asked frontline staff to use their hosepipe to briefly rinse dust and fine sand off of our bikes, which wouldn’t use much water and we were given the go ahead. Only to be reprimanded by another staff member outside ? We asked for a taxi or lift service to be organized for us to get to Joes Beerhouse which is 5-10 minutes away, got charged $300 (not sure if there is a kickback here or what the reason was for this high expense). We only ended up using the service one way. Limited lunch menu, only offering basic sandwiches (which was acceptable). Location not ideal, but it worked for the single night we spent here. Rooms were hot, aircon is recommended as the fan does very little to cool the room down in the hot Namibian summers. Would make more sense with their pricing ? We did however get some packed breakfast for our early travels the next day which were great and really tasty, with some other snacks too. Wouldn’t stay here again, not terrible but probably at the bottom of our list in terms of value for money!

We loved this guesthouse!! After staying in more than 15 guesthouses during our stay in Namibia, this was one of the best place we stayed at!! The cozy bedroom had a spacious and clean bathroom with a hot shower with high water pressure. The breakfast was abundant with fruits, cheese, European bread, cereal and juices (unlike most of the hotels in Namibia that simply offer toast, eggs and bacon). The staff working there were very friendly and helpful too. We truly enjoyed our stay and we highly recommend it to anyone who’s passing through Windhoek!

I personally loved this guesthouse on all aspects. Service was amazing, hospitality was amazing, and the rooms were great. Accommodation was perfect too, amazing pool and lovely staff. Rooms were spacious and have everything you could possibly need. Very nice bathrooms and some rooms even have their own back private outside area. Location of this accommodation is perfect too as it’s almost in the center of Windhoek. Now, you barely notice this though so that’s great!

I wish there was a trip advisor rating between average and very good as I would have rated Vondelhof as Good. ||||We stayed here in May for the first two nights of our 5 week trip around Namibia and Botswana. ||Great location, secure parking, clean room, lots of choice at breakfast. Staff were very friendly and very very helpful. After travelling for more than 36 hours we just wanted food and a shower, the lovely lady on reception ordered pizza on our behalf from Debonairs, a couple of cold beers went down a treat too. ||We couldn't have a shower as a water main had burst in a near bystreet, but thats life and nothing anyone could do. It was restored by the next morning and all was well. ||A taxi was ordered from a local gentleman they use on a regular basis, he was great, friendly and helpful. ||Windhoek is a lovely city, we went for long a walk and felt totally safe. There are some beautiful buildings. I wish we'd had a bit more time to explore. All the Namibians we met on our travels were so friendly, polite and helpful, Vondelhof set the tone for the whole trip around Namibia. ||We would stay at Vondelhof Guest house if/when we visit Namibia again.

We stayed two days in this guesthouse, at the start and end of our tour of Namibia. It really is an excellent guesthouse to stay for a few days. Rooms are spacious and clean and both the owner and employees were very hospitable, incredibly nice and helpful. At breakfast there is more than enough choice and definitely one of the better breakfast buffets we had had in 2.5 weeks. There is a convenience store around the corner and large shopping center a 5 minute walk away. The craft market is about a kilometer away. In short, we had a great time here. Definitely a highly recommended place to stay!
