This hotel unfortunately does not deserve this much positive reviews. The beach and sea is very nice. But breakfast was horrible. The variety is not enough but more importantly food was not fresh at all. Pancakes and waffles served were maybe a few days old! It was hard to find proper food for kids. As it is a small bay with local food selections, it was hard to find breakfast options.

Our time at this resort was great! The staff is adorable, very helpful, and always greeted us every morning. We stayed for a week and it was nice and relaxing. A definite bonus is housekeeping was once a day, and was always changed between 9-10am right when we went to breakfast. They are able to order you a taxi to the upper part of the island, and the boat dock is right next to the resort. They take card, but other places on the island only take cash! Be sure you have enough for your stay! The breakfast was buffet style and was always fresh. We went during off-season and it was perfect for us! They have a coffee/bar indoor area that has AC right on the beach that we utilized a lot! We booked the standard room and it was a good fit for us! None of the bungalows are too far from the restaurant or the beach. Would love to return and I highly recommend staying here!

I was really disappointed with my stay at this hotel. I went to the restaurant expecting to enjoy a nice meal in a clean, smoke-free environment—but instead, I was shocked to see foreign guests openly smoking inside. Even worse, it looked like the hotel actually encouraged it: they reserved tables for them and even set ashtrays out in advance. What made it more upsetting was that there were families with young children dining there too, and the staff didn’t seem to care at all. No one came over to handle the situation, and when I raised the issue, I didn’t even get a proper response or apology. Honestly, it felt like the staff were more concerned with keeping the foreign guests happy than looking after everyone else. And let’s be clear—this isn’t just unpleasant, it’s illegal. Thai law clearly bans smoking in enclosed public areas like restaurants, but the hotel completely ignored that. Instead of enforcing the rule, they just let it happen like it was normal. The hotel looks nice and seems to have good standards on the surface, but this experience really changed my impression. It’s frustrating to see that health, safety, and fairness were not taken seriously. If you’re a non-smoker or traveling with kids, I’d really think twice before staying here. I hope the management reconsiders their approach and starts putting all guests’ well-being first—not just a select few.

Came to Vongdeuan Resort Koh Samed and bruhhh it felt like I stepped into a chill postcard — white sands, clear water, and vibes so relaxing my stress packed its bags and left me alone hahaha 🏝️🌊🍹 The resort’s right on Ao Vongduen, which means wake up > beach in 5 steps > repeat. Absolutely living that flip-flop fantasy. The room? Cute, cozy, island-style with just enough comfort to make me forget I still had emails waiting. The bed was nap-approved, the AC worked like a champ, and the porch gave strong “sip coconut and judge waves” energy. Walked out, and BOOM — that beach view hit harder than any Zoom background ever could 🏖️🌅 Breakfast? Decent spread. Staff? Super friendly and helpful, especially when I forgot how to island like a pro. But real talk — the beach is the main event here. Chill waters, fewer crowds, and perfect for floating like a confused starfish. Only downside? Wi-Fi can be a bit iffy and there are some mozzies after dark, so bring that spray or get ready to be buffet’d by nature 🦟🌴 But overall? It’s the kinda place where your flip-flops retire, and you do too — mentally.

I cannot recommend this place enough! One of the most enjoyable, hospitable, and welcoming places I have ever stayed in my life. This resort is quintessentially Thailand and represents and embodies everything that makes this country the closest thing we can hope to ever find of heaven on Earth. From the moment I stepped off the boat and onto the beach, until the very end when departing back to the mainland, I felt as if the resort was like a home away from home. The staff, the resort itself (including the accommodations, the prompt, timely, and attentive service, and the amazing food menu), and the lodging, were simply incredible. Even though I only stayed there for two nights with my precious and beloved girlfriend, every moment was a pure delight. The manager and her family who own and operate the resort were so kind, and time and again went out of their way to make me us comfortable, contented, and taken care of. To illustrate the point, when we left the island and had already boarded the ship to return to the mainland, I realized at the last minute that I had forgotten my phone in the lobby. The manager called one of the staff there and had them rendezvous with us at another one of the piers that we had to stop at before finally reaching the mainland. I do not know how they accomplished this on such short notice or how they were able to act so quickly, but suffice it to say that it really touched my heart and perfectly demonstrates just how dedicated the staff at the resort are to maintaining the highest level of customer service and taking care of their guests. It was really mind-blowing. I cannot thank them enough! Another example is when my girlfriend was feeling under the weather, the staff helped with a simple, soothing, and effective remedy for her ailment. She immediately began to feel better, and I really am thankful that they were there to help me take care of her. I could write so much more, but if you want to find a quiet, peaceful, and beautiful getaway where you can completely relax and leave the world behind, this is the place for you. Not only did this resort serve as a constant reminder of why Thailand feels like home, but it also made me feel as if the resort was also where I belonged. Even though we have just returned from our trip, I hope my girlfriend and I can return to this resort many, many more times over the coming years. P.S., If you like friendly cats and dogs who are just as welcoming as the resort staff, then you'll find many lively and gentle creatures to warm your heart. My favorite was a beefy beautiful orange and white cat who clearly acted like he owned the place. And if I had a single recommendation, it would be to NOT change the portion sizes, because I'm greedy and love to eat.

Brilliant Staff, value for drinks and meals. I normally don't eat at my hotel but the meals had options to sit at tables on the beach or restaurant. Well priced and very tasty. Rooms were comfortable and cool.

Would give it 3,5 stars if possible. The location is 100% perfect. Otherwise the resort is very outdated, however… beds are comfortable and really all you need if sleeping so close to the beach! We also really liked the swimming pool with view over the beach. We would thus still really recommend it if you are looking for a cheap place next to the beach. We didn’t like the food here much, but there are plenty of great restaurants on the beach where you can sit all day and eat or drink. Staff is a bit weird. Some are super friendly, others seem to have a permanent bad day. The cleaning ladies always were super friendly. Ask for a taxi to the pier back well in advance, and make sure that they book it there and then - because we had to wait 20 minutes and almost missed our boat because of it :)

Our absolute favorite on Koh Samed. The beach is perfect size, white sand, crystal waters and beautifully calm. The hotel is situated just on the beach so the breakfast views are stunning, it’s only two steps from the restaurant onto the sand and the many beach beds. Breakfast is ok, the Thai food is good. The staff are always fabulous and can’t do enough for you. We stayed in the standard rooms this time but they were not as nice as the bungalows.
