I recently had my first experience with Korean Fried Chicken at Vons Chicken in Federal Way, and it was fantastic! The service was incredibly friendly, and they patiently answered all of my questions. I ordered the Crispy Fried Chicken in both mild and spicy varieties. The large legs were meaty and crispy with a hint of sweetness. The spicy version was just right for my palate, offering a delightful heat that tingled my tongue (more intense than a peppery feel but not quite a 3-star spice level). I also tried the Crispy Yang-Nyum Chicken (spicy). These large meaty legs were equally crispy and had an amazing sweet and spicy flavor. The spice level was more intense, aligning with a 4-star spice level that provided a satisfying heat on the tongue, mouth, and throat. I highly recommend Vons Chicken to anyone looking for delicious Korean Fried Chicken. I will definitely be back to try more of their menu items!

Atmosphere: clean and nicer than expected when I walked in. Service: exactly what you ask for and nothing extra. Food: Really really good. Ordered gyozas. They pour a sauce over them and serve them to you. Not the typical sauce you’d get when ordering teriyaki. It’s pretty good. The chicken….was great! Honey butter chicken. You can choose which part of the chicken you want. No dry chicken! Not even the boneless chicken. All chicken was moist and damn delicious. The spicy chicken was like a Tabasco flavor spicy. It’s good. I’m not a huge fan of fried chicken but I was happy with my food. Ordered kimchi fried rice and that was good. Not a strong kimchi flavor at all. I now have a new fried chicken place to refer people too.

Google
Finally went inside this place after 2 years of being open. Want expecting the fried chicken to be SO GOOD! Use a little soy in the batter and garlic. Can't really capture the goodness in words. If you have a urge for Good fried chicken, you gotta try this place. Takeout is a popular choice at dinner time. Generous portions.

Google
We come across this spot when we googled Korean Fried Chicken in Federal Way when the usual ones we go to was closed. Plenty of shared parking with the nearby business within the plaza. We ordered the Honey butter chicken with Cheddar powder and it was so good! I wish they put a lot of that cheddar powder coz it was a good pair. the crispy yang-nyum was ok. I was looking for a zing of Korean flavors but there wasn't any. i know it's a sauced fried chicken but i wished it was more crispy. The pickled radish and mini salad it came with was good.

Google
I had a meeting with my friends. It's been 15 years. We ordered best chicken menus. In fact, everything was great! I strongly recommend dine in and you will know their crispinesss better than to go. I will visit this place next time and oven grilled chicken!

Google
I've gone here several times. The food is always fresh and delicious!! The customer service is lacking, he is friendly enough. For all the greasy food here, he could definitely give more napkins lol. All the times I've gone, I've had to ask for more lol. The food is also on the pricey side but it's worth it!! The inside is always clean, and it's the perfect spot to sit and chill on lunch, a quiet date or just some alone time. I really enjoy the decor and set up it's so peaceful!

Google
Von's Chicken has some of the best chicken wing flavors in town, and taste juicy and fresh. The honey butter fries were absolutely incredible, and definitely a must-try when you order!

Google
I love Vons! The best Korean chicken spot in Washington in my opinion! The restaurant is so nice and clean and the food is amazing always nice and hot and everything is fresh! Every time I go it’s consistent. The staff is so kind and the chicken is so delicious everything on their menu that I’ve tried have been great!

Yelp
This is my very first time at this place and I Love it here! Korean style oven baked or fried chicken wings. Clean, good location, in the corner of 312th and PAC Hwy. They have a pleasant, holiday exciting Christmas music playing. Lots of tables and chairs for a large group. Plenty of parking spaces, close to the main highway and I-5 freeway. Quick service. I didn't wait long for my order. Also order the fried chicken wings to go. They were ok. Be prepared to get your fingers sticky from the sauce. The cashier could be more friendly and a little outgoing. He looks like he hates his job. Maybe that will make people to come back. Just saying, work on your people skills and customer service that would be nice

Yelp
I found a Vons Chicken in Federal Way, WA accidentally. I thought it was just a San Jose chain! The first time I had it in SJ, my mind was blown. Super juicy crispy drumsticks.. I wish I could say the same for the WA experience. not impressed at all... the kimchi fried rice doesn't taste right and my fries were soft and cold.

Yelp
If you like fried chicken, this is the spot! Yummy Korean style fried chicken. You pay at the counter and find a seat. When we went, there was nobody there. Most of the people were just getting takeout. We spent a total of $50 and we got two plates of half order chicken and two plates of rice and Korean fried rice. They give you coleslaw and daikon to go with it. Would definitely go again and highly recommend it.

Yelp
I wanted a sampler so we got Honey Butter Chicken -I like sweet so was intrigued. They had the sweetness but whatever the powder was on top almost made it too much as that powder seasoning clumped up. Mild Chicken-basic chicken minimal spice or seasoning. Perfect for you to add your own favorite sauce to it. Garlic chicken-flavorful and just a tad heavy on the garlic for my taste. French Fries-basic-no seasoning Honey Butter Cheese Balls- mozzarella stick in larger ball for with same seasoning from chicken mentioned above and a hint of saltiness. All of the chicken was juicy and crispy. I saw several complaints about the price but the servings are large. It is full size drumsticks and not the small drumettes. Did this order as a pick up and it was hot and ready when I arrived a few minutes before the designated time. Nicely packed in 2 bags. Nothing was missing. Looked like there was a medium sized area to eat in.

Yelp
The food was realy good and tasty the food came with a little bowl of salad and pickled radishes BEST CHICKEN EVER

Yelp
I tried most of all chickens on the menu. My favorite it the spicy one and cheese flavor one. Honey butter one is great for kids I think. The fried chicken is so crispy and juicy. I had blood in drumsticks once but they said there is nothing that they can do about it. It is what it is. I understand because they fry the chicken fresh as when the order goes in. It also had several cuts because the drumstick was huge in size and they tried to cook all the way. But yeah. I still like there seasoning and sauce choices so I would go back.

Yelp
I am torn on whether to give a three or four stars. The food is certainly worth the four stars, the price is what gives me pause. With tip, two people cost $80. Yes, we had some to take home, but that seams high. We ordered the baked Von's special, Chicken Baldak, and Garlic Chicken. All of it was good, I especially liked the Baldak, there is something about it that reminds me of BBQ but also the gochujang flavor that is prominent in Korean foods! I wish the Garlic chicken had more sauce or perhaps was tossed in the garlic rather than dribbled on top. While I did enjoy the "Plain" bites that I had I really like the garlic flavors. If you are in the area, this is one of three favorite Korean chicken joints and I would place this in the 3rd position of those three.

Yelp
I really like that they don't over use their frying oil. it's a cleaner after taste. chicken is well seasoned. ordered take out with sauce on the side and it was crispy at home. it is definitely more expensive than other fast food chicken places tho. support local!

Yelp
I love, love, love Vons some of the best Korean fried chicken. Staff is pleasant, restaurant and bathrooms are clean. Wait time is not bad either!

Yelp
We decided to get our take out from here. We got the spicy chicken and the garlic ones. We also got the cheese balls. I love this place! The chicken is always so flavorful and top notch juicy. The cheeseballs were SO GOOD! It is a bit pricy though but for the amount they give you and the size of the wings, it is pretty good. The staff here are always friendly.

Yelp
Food was mediocre than what I was expected. Chicken wasn't packed with flavors I was expecting. I loved their coleslaw but that was pretty much it. Service was good and it was clean environment.
google avatar

Erica C.

Yelp
Plenty of parking, clean eating area and hand sanitizer provided at register. Bathroom available for customers. We ordered the baked wings and it's a great healthy option. It had a lot of flavor and was only slightly dry. It took about 20mins from being ordered to being ready for pick up and you can tell they just came out of the oven.

Yelp
Nice Clean Delicious !! I'll be back be sure to come support you won't regret it It might be best to come during the day earlier before 3 o'clock because trust me just passed will be packed I got lucky and came after my daughters down earlier in the day we had it all to ourselves but not for long

Yelp
Not that good as how they advertised it. The hype didn't stand to its rep. Customer service wasn't good, they were not nice. Chicken was ok but nothing special. Price also was a little to high for the quality
google avatar

Mecca F.

Yelp
Two visits and well it's chicken you can eat but not good enough to me. Sauces are great but sometimes used to throw you off the fact that the chicken is old. Beware!' Order pick-up got there they were finishing up my order. Prices are not reasonable to me!! Try at your own risk!
google avatar

Yelp
This review is overdue. Vons is my favorite spot for Korean Fried Chicken in FW! I usually get the padak and yangyum chicken. They're so flavorful and the portion size is big! I haven't eaten in yet since Isually order to go, but it looks clean in the restaurant. Staff are also friendly when I pick up my orders.

Bobby G.

Yelp
This is our go to lunch place to eat, at least twice a month. Simply the best wings for me and my family.
google avatar

Omar R.

Yelp
This place was impressive, very calm ambiance similar to that of which you see on TV. The chicken was fresh, right out of the fryer fresh and crispy with savory seasoning, onion rings were very crispy, and they use a clean filtered water, not straight from the faucet like all other restaurants in America. The initial contact at the front desk with the employee could have been a little better but very good experience overall.
google avatar

Ronald S.

Yelp
Food: chicken flavorful but not as crispy as I'd like. Even asked for extra crispy. Side dishes we ordered was ok. It looked microwaved and kind of sad actually. Service: first time here and the guy just kept laughing at us when we walked in and asked for a party of 3. Ambiance: it is pretty clean inside as others have mentioned but felt more like a fast food spot. Underground Kitchen blows this place out the water!
google avatar

Yelp
Finally ordered here for take out and I've been missing out! The sauce is spectacular and it really has a kick of heat. The breading is the chicken could be crunchier and crispier. It was slightly soggy at the end wasn't the "fried chicken" that I really wanted. But it was made up with the sauce. An hour of fried chicken came with pickled radish and coleslaw. These two sides were pretty standard in coming with Korean fried chicken and standard portion. I ordered take out and it was boxed well and nothing spilled.
google avatar

Felicity M.

Yelp
Food was ok. Crispy chicken was not really juicy and the yang nyum tasted a little weird to me. Padak had a little sauce and it might have been better if it had more sauce. The place was clean though I do not think I will be returning here for Korean fried chicken.
google avatar

Yelp
Best Korean fried chicken ever my favorite sooo yummy Excellent very tasty for sure . Service is good keep coming back lol
google avatar

Yelp
Always crispy and great flavor. However, the boneless chicken isn't always consistent. Last couple times I purchased, they were dry. But otherwise my family's favorite chicken spot.

Kyle V.

Yelp
Delicious fried chicken! Always keeping customer service at the best. Have to come by to try it out.
google avatar

Cate K.

Yelp
Not as great as I would have liked. Garlic Chicken lacked any garlic flavor....very bland. The special sauce is sugary syrup....could not care to even try to enjoy any of it. Nobody at home liked any of the flavors. Each had their own opinion. Kid says never again....
google avatar

Yelp
I've been here 4 times. This is the only chicken place for me. Try the chicken, that's it; it's all good. This one is a gem. Why spend your money anywhere else?

Yelp
I've heard of Vons for a while but haven't had a chance to go until this past weekend when the fried chicken crave kicked in. They're located closeby to Hmart, which is very convenient. We ordered the yangnyum fried chicken and the special sauce baked chicken to go. Also ordered some mandoos just to try it out. Overall, we really liked the flavors of the wings. The chicken were moist but by the time we got to the yangnyum chicken, it was already soggy. Imo its probably best to eat that when you're at the restaurant just to experience the crispiness. Really love the cute packaging. They give you sides for each chicken purchased. I've noticed they're on Uber Eats and DoorDash now. Will definitely order from them again!

Yelp
I was between a 3.5 and 4 stars. My cousin, niece, and I decided we wanted some Korean fried chicken and wanted to try a new place. We ordered the Crispy Yang-Nyum Chicken, Crispy Fried w/ Honey Butter, and French Fries. Everything was good, but did not beat the place where I've had my best Korean Fried Chicken so far. We ordered the Crispy Yang-Nyum Chicken spicy, but it was not spicy at all to us. I would prefer it to be spicier. The texture wasn't as crispy as our other chicken since it was drenched in sauce. The Crispy Fried w/ Honey Butter, on the hand, was perfectly crispy. We weren't too big on the honey butter flavor, but the crispiness of the chicken made up for it. And the fries were pretty good, with a nice crispiness too.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing crisp, light and flavorful chicken. The 6 pc lunch special was simply outstanding. The optional-spice was just right. The airy-light-crispy outer of the chicken defies logic and physics. Thankful for the troops during the late 1940s and early 1950s for sharing their fried chicken recipes. Coleslaw was saucy and fresh. Basic coleslaw, might have been sesame seeds throughout. Tasty. Fries were nice and light as well. The light breading reminded me slightly of mochi flour. Might have been the secret. Nonetheless, the fries weren't too oily or soggy but perfectly fried with a semi-sweet and salty, airy, crunchy fry. Superior. The service was kind and prompt, The restaurant was clean and tidy. A bit small but that's okay. They serve basic soda, soju...

Yelp
It's ok. We finally stopped in and ordered the boneless garlic chicken and the honey butter fried chicken. I think each was $15for half order which consisted of 6-8 pieces. Kind of up there in price. The garlic chicken was good, it's made out of boneless thighs with skin on. I like dark meat but my husband wasn't thrilled with the texture. The butter honey chicken was weird. I expected a sticky buttery sauce, maybe a little bit of chili but I got some wings (which were perfectly crispy and juicy) with a sweet powder on top. Not tossed, just sprinkled on top of the chicken. It didn't taste bad but it wasn't good either, reminded me of pancake flour mixed with a packet of ranch powder. I had to doctor it up when we got home, or was a little better with some spice. All in all, I'd go back to try some other stuff but won't go out of my way to get it either.

Zebin Z.

Yelp
Chicken comes with hair! Damn! I called to the restaurant to try to figure out what the solution is. But the employee overthere is super rude and refuse to refund or make a new one to us! I wish I can make a zero star to them if I could!
google avatar

Lisa A.

Yelp
l really like the chicken here, it's even better with the slaw and daikon. The service was good it does take a bit for the chicken to cook so I would recommend ordering ahead. It is a bit pricy but I would definitely go here again. I like that you can get wings or a combo.

Yelp
After months of stalking this restaurant on Yelp and reading all of the positive reviews, I finally decided to give this place a try for a Sunday night dinner. This restaurant leaves a good first impression. The place is clean, the decor is nice, they play chill music and the customer service was great. I ordered a large Hite Extra Cold beer ($6.95) as I waited for my to-go order: a half order of Crunchy Fried Chicken ($12.99) a half order Crispy Padak Chicken ($13.99) two orders of steamed rice ($1.99/per) and single order of mild rice cake ($5.99). I was told the wait would be 15mins since the chicken is cooked to order. I was not disappointed with the amount of food for the price. A half order comes with 5pcs of generously sized drumsticks. You can get wings or a mixture of wings and drums for an extra dollar. Each order of rice can feed two people. The rice cake could be shared between four people. I enjoyed both the Crunchy Fried and the Crispy Padak Chicken. Both had a nice crunch and flavor. The Crispy Padak is lightly dressed with a semi-sweet sauce. Definitely give this place a try. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
I cannot have enough good things to say about this place. Hubby ordered some chicken wings to go. It took me a while to get to the chicken because I was too busy sleeping so it's been out for a while now. I finally got to the chicken and Surprisingly it was still *cronchy* *cronch* *cronch* that's open impressive! The chicken didn't lack any flavor that all. It was well seasoned all the way to the bone. The soy garlic was lacking though. I can see the sauce lines on the chicken and it was not that much. I can't wait to finally try them fresh out of the fryer. There will be a part 2 to this review so stay tuned! This rating is based on our to go order
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered the kimchee fried rice ($5.99) and half combination fried chicken ($12.99). The combo option comes with drumsticks and wings. Overall, it was pretty delicious. The chicken came out piping hot and of course, crunchy. As for the kimchee fried rice, I would have wanted more kimchee with it. Parking was easy to find as it is in a lot.
google avatar

Ric C.

Yelp
This is hE best chicken I've ever had. The place is very clean and the staff are very pleasant. It is CHICKEN no frills no other entree. They have fried and baked. I ordered a fried spicy half order. At $14.00 for a half order I thought the price was really high, however it was a huge amount of chicken and I took half home with me. It was recommended to my by a good friend and grateful. I want to add that the 5 star is for the chicken and the service. You do have to wait awhile even when it is not busy because they don't cook it until you order it. It doesn't sit in steam trays for who knows how long.
google avatar

Christopher T.

Yelp
I love me some good KFC and this was good, but not on par with some other locals. I decided to try boneless rather than wings and maybe that was my mistake. It was mostly tough, dry thigh pieces. Flavor on the garlic soy sauce variety was good, but YangYum was overly saucy. Fries weren't worth the price at all.
google avatar

Jeanne W.

Yelp
I was craving Korean style chicken wings to go. I decided to try their honey garlic chicken wings. Very good ! Will be back.

Yelp
The last time I had Korean fried chicken was in California. I was so hooked that I swore to try Vons as soon as it was posted on Yelp. After reading several reviews, my daughter and I decided to scale the place and see if the 4.5 stars are true to the heart. So here is what I think. The restaurant is situated from what used to be Nine Tails Thai restaurant next to Campeon. Parking is ample but I'm assuming this can change during weekends. We were greeted by two very attentive employees who were courteous and helpful in every way. They are welcoming and I can't thank them enough for the safekeeping of my credit card. The menu is divided into two sections. There is oven fried(oven baked) and deep fried version. There's also a boneless option. I always ask what's the most popular item or what the servers recommend if I'm a first timer at a restaurant. I think the crispy fried chicken was recommended in the "Fried" side of the menu. The vons' special sauce was recommended for the oven baked. I always stick with mild "sauces"- Just because I'm worried about getting something too spicy. It took about 15 minutes for the food to be ready but I swear to you, it is worth it. What we got: Vons (oven baked) special sauce and Crispy Padang chicken. We had to take the food to go due to a family issue but we were able to eat the chicken right away while they're hot and crispy- after 10 minutes. The Vons special sauce is really good. The sauce is just at the borderline of sweet and savory but it's not cloying. The chicken was very flavorful and it made me wish we ordered the full size. The crispy Padang chicken is possibly the best fried chicken I've had. Despite being kept in a box, it remained crispy. There was a light drizzle of a delicate sauce which took the chicken to a different level. I wanted more of that sauce but adding more would have overwhelmed the flavor of this very crispy chicken. I would highly recommend eating this dish with rice especially if you're Asian- it comes with green onions which works well with the chicken and the sauce. The sides- I'm a sucker for the Korean radishes(they're cubed) and I think they're spot on with the sweetness and the tang. I wouldn't mind having twenty more of these in my order. The coleslaw-I'm just not big on any coleslaw. Price wise, we spent $13and $14 for half orders. The price is a little steep but I'm willing to pay this for food that's well made. We will definitely go back again. Ambiance is IKEA all the way. It's very clean- you'll be provided utensils/plates and drinks once you are seated.

Alice C.

Yelp
Regular fried chicken tastes yummy. And their portion sizes are much better than underground chicken. For those reasons, I will always choose Vons over underground! Please continue to stay in business. The best Korean fried chicken in Fed way!

Yelp
Wow! Wow wowwwww!!! I couldn't tell you how happy I am that vons chicken opened a location in federal way. I live in Olympia but I definitely made the hour drive to eat here lol. I used to live in Hawaii and there was a few Vons chickens there.. which I would eat almost everyday so good! The service here is amazing! The people working were all very nice! The inside is clean and open space, lots of tables to sit at. They make the chicken fresh to order so if you're in a hurry I'd call ahead of time and place the order! In conclusion, this place is amazing and I hope it stays around. Thanks for opening a vons in Washington! This is some REAL Korean fried chicken so if ya like wings this is your new spot
google avatar

Dia B.

Yelp
Tried Vons for the first time today... it was great, hot fried chicken. So yum, recommending to friends!
google avatar

Kenny K.

Yelp
Had to try this new chicken joint in Federal way! Drove past it and had booked marked to try it. When the time came, I came with a couple of friends to enjoy some chicken and beer. This is a Korean styled chicken restaurant and they offer a wide variety of flavors! We got a couple of baked chicken and friend chicken seasonings. I highly recommend getting the combo (wings and drums) original fried chicken! And make sure to ask for extra picked radish because it's delicious! Food was delicious setting was very comfortable and very bright due to the white furniture and bright walls. This would be a good place to stop by for a quick bite or a nice time out with some friends enjoying some chicken and beer! Soju is also an option but they did not have it yet.
google avatar

Yuli S.

Yelp
Second time come here, a little bit disappointed. Price is a little bit high, I mean dinner if we want to add more side we have to pay extra, and very small kimchi fried rice $6 over price. And waited more than 15 minutes for food even you are very hungry. But I still give them 4 stars because they are new, and I think they will do better. And if they have dinner comb that will be great, chicken wings include 10 pieces it is too much, you can cut like 8 pieces and come with a side ( rice or fries).
google avatar

Abby C.

Yelp
Portions are huge! We ordered half orders and here were still 10 big wings per portion. Had he crispy fried chicken which was really good and also tried the Yang-Nyum chicken. The yang nyum was too sweet for us. Our son wanted fries, but no sauces were offered to dip. I would have like to dip the crispy chicken in something as well. We'd be willing to give this place another try
google avatar

Allison T.

Yelp
The honey butter wings are a must! Honestly, that powder is like crack. Wings are perfectly fried and juicy. A bit pricey, but that's how it always is with kfc. Also if you prefer flats over drums, I wouldn't recommend paying extra since they will still add a few drums at the bottom. Every order comes with a small container of pickled radish and a mini salad. Call ahead if you're not trying to wait!
google avatar

Katherine Y.

Yelp
-1/2 extra spicy red burn chicken: it was actually spicy and not just salty and vinegary like other spicy chickens can be. This was so good! Had a nice kick to it. -1/2 spicy crispy fried chicken: crispy, crunchy skin w/juicy chicken. We did the mix of wings and drums for +$1 each and it was well worth it. This was for 2 ppl and we definitely had leftovers. They give good portions! It comes w/radish and coleslaw which pairs so well w/fried chicken. Korean fried chicken is usually a little more expensive but it's worth every penny. Definitely check this place out!
google avatar

Rona L.

Yelp
Oh man, do I love fried chicken. And when you're in the mood for KFC, Von's is great! My family has tried almost every flavor but we definitely keep going back to the fried chicken with honey butter and the crispy padak chicken (I'm not a huge fan of sauced wings in general). Though it's only been for takeout since COVID, the chicken remains warm and crispy until the drive home. The honey butter adds a sweetness to the saltiness of the fried chicken, making it quite addicting to eat. And the Padak comes with a mountain of green onions that helps cut some of the richness. They always pack pickled radish (how do you eat KFC without this stuff??) and coleslaw. Both crunchy and fresh to reset your palate. I always know where I can go when I'm craving fried chicken.

Yelp
Got there later part of the evening - 3hours prior to closing. First thing I noticed was the lack of customers on a weekend. Not sure why? But I have an idea, maybe it's the customer service! The counter person was rude and portrayed a sassy attitude. Additionally, I felt extremely rushed to order considering there was NO other customers. Perhaps smiling and showing a friendly attitude might help. It's okay, I made my mind not to ever return here. Having said all of this, the wings were good which is why my rating is 3 stars. On the other hand, Kimchi fried rice had zero taste.
