I have been fortunate to have visited more than a dozen Greek Islands over the past forty years. Additionally, my husband and I have twice sailed the islands on privately chartered yachts. I am also a former hotel inspector for a major travel magazine. It is with this perspective that I wholeheartedly recommend Amorgos as a destination, and Vorina Ktismata for luxury accommodation on Amorgos.
First, the location of Vorina Ktismata is perfection, walking distance from the windmill-strewn Chora, or old town, of Amorgos. The Chora itself is centrally located on the island of Amorgos, facilitating driving (and hiking) excursions to some of the island’s best beaches, sights and authentic towns.
Second, Vorina Ktismata’s seven suites leverage the stunning location, with generous terraces featuring jaw-dropping sea and/or Chora views. Rooms feature Coco-Mat bedding, colorful shuttered windows, modern bathrooms, excellent connectivity and ample storage. The rooms are blissfully quiet and comforting.
Finally, Vorina Ktismata’s ‘secret sauce’ is the extraordinary hospitality provided by the husband and wife ownership team, Nikos and Alexia. Natural hosts, they anticipate guest needs, assisting with transportation arrangements, sightseeing options and authentic dining recommendations. Breakfast is fresh, diverse and effortlessly served on a sunny communal terrace, where an easy conversational rapport naturally arises among the like-minded guests.
The island of Amorgos is reminiscent of the unspoiled Greek islands of thirty years ago. If you are one of the privileged guests of Vorina Ktismata, your Amorgos experience will be exponentially enriched.
