I have been fortunate to have visited more than a dozen Greek Islands over the past forty years. Additionally, my husband and I have twice sailed the islands on privately chartered yachts. I am also a former hotel inspector for a major travel magazine. It is with this perspective that I wholeheartedly recommend Amorgos as a destination, and Vorina Ktismata for luxury accommodation on Amorgos. First, the location of Vorina Ktismata is perfection, walking distance from the windmill-strewn Chora, or old town, of Amorgos. The Chora itself is centrally located on the island of Amorgos, facilitating driving (and hiking) excursions to some of the island’s best beaches, sights and authentic towns. Second, Vorina Ktismata’s seven suites leverage the stunning location, with generous terraces featuring jaw-dropping sea and/or Chora views. Rooms feature Coco-Mat bedding, colorful shuttered windows, modern bathrooms, excellent connectivity and ample storage. The rooms are blissfully quiet and comforting. Finally, Vorina Ktismata’s ‘secret sauce’ is the extraordinary hospitality provided by the husband and wife ownership team, Nikos and Alexia. Natural hosts, they anticipate guest needs, assisting with transportation arrangements, sightseeing options and authentic dining recommendations. Breakfast is fresh, diverse and effortlessly served on a sunny communal terrace, where an easy conversational rapport naturally arises among the like-minded guests. The island of Amorgos is reminiscent of the unspoiled Greek islands of thirty years ago. If you are one of the privileged guests of Vorina Ktismata, your Amorgos experience will be exponentially enriched.

The Best of Amorgos! Vorina Ktismata is an absolute gem perfectly located in the middle of the island just a few steps from Chora. Its modern design and the unique views from. every suite made it the perfect home away from home during our holidays. Nikos & Alexia were exceptional hosts. Always greeting guests with a smile, they put warmth and care into everything they do which made our stay all the more special. From the personalised travel tips and support in booking a table at the best tavernas on the island to the sumptuous breakfasts featuring daily specials baked by Alexia herself, every detail was considered. An unforgettable stay! We look forward to being back soon!

In July, my husband and I enjoyed several days at the Vorina Ktismata. From the minute we arrived till the day we departed, we were very impressed with all that the hosts provided at this rare gem of a hotel. As others describe here, this beautiful, contemporary hotel is a collection of commodious rooms, each offering a unique view of the hills, chora or distant sites. Our room was spotless, and featured all the comforts of a well-appointed suite: modern shower and bathroom fixtures, toiletries, comfortable bed, desk, table and chairs, TV and even a small fridge stocked with ice cold bottled water upon our arrival.||Our mornings began with a delicious and large buffet – the best we had throughout Greece! There was both breakfast (eggs, breads, yogurt, fruit, muesli, toast, jams) and lunch (cheeses, olives, tomatoes and baked goods). Our hostess Alexia served excellent cappuccino and Greek coffee as well as juices, tea or regular coffee. She was not only attentive and welcoming, but full of useful local information on where to go, what to do, timely advice about ferry service, and even practical tips about the weather! ||We looked forward to our daily breakfast gathering, meeting other guests and enjoying lively discussion on sports, politics and tourist tips. The chora is a 10 minute walk from the hotel, very convenient for evening dining and shopping. After a busy day of exploring every corner of this amazing island, we’d relax in our freshly-cleaned room, feeling rejuvenated and satisfied to be right there in such clean, tasteful comfort.||Over our days together at the Vorina Ktismata, we also got to know the family members who run this hotel with grace and professionalism. Getting to know them, and learning about their own background and lives also enriched our stay. By the time we left, I felt like we’d planted a stake right there for a return visit. Amorgos and the Vorina Ktismata are a magical combination, offering the best experience for seeing and staying on a Greek Island in comfort, proximity to activities and an outstanding host family that’s truly rare in any tourist location.

We stayed 3 memorable nights at Vorina Ktismata in the beautiful Amorgos Chora- one of the best Greek island hotels you could imagine. Nikos and Alexi were truly wonderful and friendly hosts who looked after our every needs - the breakfasts were superb with Alexi’s home made preserves and Nikos’ omelettes a favourite. Everything about Vorina was excellent with its modern but traditional architecture, native plant landscaping and stylish comfortable rooms with amazing views. We stayed in a room called Haroupia with lovely sea and Kastro balcony views. Nikos was especially helpful with advice about exceptional restaurants and island activities. We hope to visit Amorgos again one day and will definitely stay at Vorina Ktismata.

Please see the review from a year ago (2024) and check on the dog two plots over, chained to a post 24/7, and left to live on top of its own feces. Please put pressure on the police to stop this animal cruelty (unrelated to this hotel property owner).

We absolutely loved Vorina, such a special place on such a special island with the most caring hosts, Nikos and Alexia. The accomodation was beautiful, with so much attention to detail, Nikos and Alexia are the proud owners and builders of the property, and are clearly so passionate, ensuring all your needs are met. The breakfasts are amazing with home cooked food, changing each day, make sure you have one of Nikos’s famous omelettes! The location of the property is perfect, beautiful views of the sea, wonderful sunsets, and so close to the Chora, which is also so beautiful to wander through the gorgeous alleys, and experience the food at some fantastic restaurants. Amorgos is truly a stunning island to visit, and l expect still unknown to many travellers. We are one of the few Australians to stay at Vorina, l’m sure it won’t be our secret for long, if you are looking for a stunningly beautiful island to visit, still not overrun with tourists, put it on your bucket list and importantly stay at Vorina Ktismata!

We've been truly good at Vorina Ktisamata. It's a great escape if you're searching for peace of mind and rest, far from confusion. The Chora is just a few steps from your room so you won't need you car if you don't want to drive. Your greek experience is assured just looking out of your windows. Nikos and Alexia are real good landlords and you'll feel home at their place.
