Voss Hostel

I had a wonderful stay at Voss Hostel. The location is absolutely fantastic — it sits right on the lake with beautiful views, and because Voss is a small town, everything is close and easy to reach. The atmosphere is peaceful and perfect for enjoying nature. The management was exceptionally kind and welcoming. They were generous, friendly, and always ready to help. One lovely touch was the apple trees on the property; they even offered us fresh apples, although we visited in mid-October and it wasn’t really the season. The hostel has a fully equipped kitchen, which was very convenient, and the breakfast was delicious and varied. Everything felt warm and homely. Overall, the place is beautifully located, right on the lake, with amazing scenery, great service, and a very comfortable environment. I highly recommend staying here.

We have stayed here for the last 2 nights and found it to be a really lovely place. Our room, which is clean and comfortable, is facing the lake and the view is incredible. Sarah the receptionist has been very friendly and helpful, sorting out an extra room for some of our party and giving us advice on where to eat and how to book the on site sauna. The breakfasts are relaxed, with plenty of food available and the guest kitchen is well equipped for people to make hot drinks or store fridge items when buying your own food. There is WiFi available with a good connectivity. I would definitely recommend this for a family on a budget.

I stayed as part of an organised trip so i’m unable to comment on the hostel from a pricing perspective. I stayed in a shared room which was as you would expect in a hostel; very basic but clean. Bedding is provided but you have to make and strip the beds yourselves. There was a small shared bathroom in the room of 5 beds which was perfectly functional and clean. Staff were friendly, drinks were reasonably priced and the location is lovely; right on the water and around 10 minutes walk from Voss train station. Breakfast was excellent with fresh produce from the local area, eggs, toast, yoghurt, fruit, juices, coffee, etc.

Great location. The views from the room were incredible. Only thing I would mention is that I could only see 1 socket in the room, and no lamps for the beds (I was in a 5 bed dorm). Though this was fine as I was the only person in my room, it may be frustrating when it's a busier time of year. Towels and bed linen were included which was great. Breakfast had plenty of options including gluten free. Tea, coffee, and herbal options available. There was plenty of parking however I have came before the start of the official season. A private section of beach is directly outside the doors which gives a stunning view to the mountains, especially if you wish to utilise the sauna (cost and opening hours considered). I think this is a lovely place to stay, but one thing that I think would be good revenue for them is if they stocked sun cream. It was 26 degrees and I had none 😂 though there are multiple supermarkets a 10 minute walk away.

This was a really good hostel. Decent value (for Norway!) well located and friendly,efficient staff. Basic rooms but to be expected. Food wasn’t such good value.

Nice location. It was easy to find. It’s handled by the store owner which is open everyday. So, we could get groceries anytime we needed. Kids friendly. It looks exactly like what it says in the website. We went in winter so heating was good. One negative aspect was the kitchen doesn’t have nice ventilation and we tried to make omelette, and fire alarm kept going on. Other than that, nice place for kids, clean, hiking opportunities. Will definitely recommend.

Midwinter ski trip stay at Voss hostel was ideal for our needs. The 10 minute walk from the station was easily rewarded by the beautiful “rural” location by the lake. Room and other areas were clean and well maintained. Staff were keen to help. Guest kitchen was equipped for family cooking and the large communal areas were good for relaxing or socialising. Reception serves the local Voss brewery beers as well as apple juice from the local apple farm. The breakfast was extensive and fresh. The unique highlight of the wood fired Sauna was great fun and complemented a quick nighttime dip in the lake!

I stayed in a private room in summer and the hotel was perfect. It was quiet, they let me check in at 13:30, the room was large, comfy and had everything you’d need. The views of the lake and mountains were beautiful, and the location is an easy walk to the train, ski lift and downtown. The common lounge areas were relaxing and nice, and the breakfast that was included was pretty good. Overall loved my stay.
