What an incredible way to see Voyageurs National Park! Captain Tim was extremely knowledgeable and personable--even giving us the tea on how the national park came to be. (We were sure to visit big Vic & Big Louie on our way back home.) I will always remember a beautiful fall afternoon having lunch right outside the Kettle Falls hotel 🍁🌲 Unforgettable, I recommend the 6 hour tour.

We had a wonderful time!! We did a 6 hour tour with Captain Tim, he was amazing! We loved all of the history facts and learning about life in the area. We were able to see and do everything we wanted lunch at kettle falls, seeing wildlife and even a very brief and chilly swim! We highly recommend Voyageurs Outfitters and especially Captain Tim!

I had a great experience renting kayaks from Voyageurs Outfitters. The owner, Merritt, was very helpful in guiding me to the best parts of the national park to kayak, specifically areas with minimal wind. He provided a high-quality, newer kayak, and even got up early on two mornings so I could take advantage of the calm conditions and get some glassy water. Although the prices were a bit steep, I understand that renting kayaks and canoes can be a challenging business. The kayaks provided by Voyageurs Outfitters seemed more maneuverable and better suited for the waters compared to the competitor's kayaks I saw. I would definitely recommend Voyageurs Outfitters and stick with them for future kayaking adventures. The kayaking in Voyageurs National Park is world-class when the conditions are right - sunny and not too much wind. To make the most of your trip, be sure to head north and then east to avoid speeding fishing boats.

We enjoyed our tour with Merritt. Finding the boat was difficult- their dock is to the right of the Thunderbird Lodge and there was no signage. That could be improved. The tour itself was interesting and informative. Merritt did a good job combining his history with the park history. It was quite warm the day we went so driving faster may have made it better. He supplied drinks and snacks which were appreciated. I would go again and recommend to someone else to go.

We did the “2-hour Grand Boat Tour” with Voyageur Outfitters and had a great time! It was both informative and fun — a perfect way to experience some of the beauty of Voyageurs National Park from the water. Eagles and historical places and facts aplenty! Captain Tim made the trip even better with his mix of knowledge and humor. He shared interesting facts about the area and its history, and his laid-back, friendly style made everyone feel welcome. He really seems to enjoy what he does! Highly recommend this tour if you’re visiting the area. It’s a relaxing, scenic ride with just the right amount of storytelling, history, and fun. Yes, $120 per person feels very high, but that’s going rate it seems. Cancellation policies are very unforgiving as well.

We had a wonderful day on Rainey Lake as we toured Voyagers National Park. Our guide Merritt was knowledgeable, professional and passionate. We learned a lot about Rainey Lake at Voyagers National Park and some of it's history and local anecdotes. We highly recommend this tour and Merritt our tour guide!

Voyagers Outfitters is top notch. We spent the day with Captain Tim and the day passed so quickly. Tim is a wealth of knowledge and we learned so much about the history and current operation of Rainy Lake. The boat was awesome and we completely enjoyed our day. If you are looking for a great trip, we would strongly recommend these guys.

We had the best experience with Voyageurs Outfitters. I appreciated how flexible and understanding Merritt was. It was end of the season so when I checked only a few operators were available the one evening we were in town. Merritt assured me that he’ll find a captain for us or take us himself if he had to. He gave us a discount since we found out about his business through our hotel, and he was willing to refund our reservation if we couldn’t make it in time for the reservation. He let us confirm the time that morning. It was cloudy that day with a chance of rain in the evening so he didn’t recommend the sunset or night sky tour. I booked the Two Hour Personalized Small Group Boat Tour, and since our tour was late in the day, we got the boat to ourselves. The only thing was we had no cell reception when we arrived at the dock and didn’t know which boat was ours, but we eventually found our captain. Our captain grew up in the area, and shared a lot of stories about the park. He also didn’t stop at an island until the last boat was leaving so we got the 3 islands that we stopped at all to ourselves, and he took photos for us. He was nice and asked if we were ok not getting back to the dock on time which was fine with us; we got to see more of the park! I loved Voyageurs National Park and I think a big part of that was because of the experience with Voyageurs Outfitters.
