One of the most frustrating hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The photos online are completely misleading. Room 207 looked nothing like what was advertised: a dark hallway with old carpet, a door that looked like an emergency exit, harsh hospital-style lighting, very old furniture, and a bathroom that wasn’t clean. It felt neglected and uncomfortable.
We had booked three nights but ended up staying zero, because the room simply wasn’t acceptable. We moved to another hotel immediately.
Check-in was rude and unhelpful. There was no one to assist with luggage, and we had to unload everything ourselves in the garage—only to be charged for the few minutes the car was there. After raising the issue with the hotel and Booking.com, Booking understood our complaint, but VP Recoletos still refused any refund, even though we didn’t stay.
On top of that, they charge extra for almost everything, even basic in-room items (not minibar).
Overall, outdated rooms, misleading advertising, poor service, and zero willingness to resolve issues. I strongly recommend choosing a different hotel in Madrid.
