Vrede en Lust Wine Estate

We are so glad we did not give up on our wine tasting journey. After a disappointing experience at another vineyard nearby, we decided to give this place a try, and it turned out to be the best decision of the day. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and to our delight, they even allowed us to bring in a few treats from the Lust bakery on the property. We arrived just before closing, and as a bonus, the bakery offers fifty percent off after three in the afternoon. There were only a few items left, but it was a lovely surprise that added to the experience. The setting was absolutely stunning. The views were breathtaking and the entire space felt peaceful and unhurried. It was the kind of place where you could easily lose track of time in the best way. We also appreciated that they offered reliable and free WiFi, which made it easy to share the moment with friends and family in real time. And the wine. Decadent, flavorful, and thoughtfully presented. We thoroughly enjoyed our tasting, and the staff took the time to explain each pour with care and enthusiasm. It was clear they love what they do. This winery came highly recommended, and now we understand why. We would absolutely encourage anyone visiting the area to make time for a stop here. Vrede en Lust is truly a special place! We did their Women’s Day wine and champagne pairing with a macaron box. Such a lovely idea and so well put together! The wines were amazing, and the pairings felt thoughtful and fun. Big shoutout to Jade, who did our tasting, she was honestly the best! So friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and made the whole experience even better with all the insights she shared. You can tell she knows her stuff and truly enjoys it. Highly recommend this experience, especially if you get lucky enough to have Jade guiding you through it!

Visited Vrede en Lust today, all the farms we visited were so beautiful and each offered something different, but this one stood out. If you visit this estate ask for Marcheline, she is not only very knowledgeable about the wine but has a passion for estate and the region. A great hostess that leads to an awesome experience.

Had a delightful lunch at Lust Bistro & Bakery. The burgers were generously sized, juicy, flavourful, and great value for money. The service was outstanding—attentive and friendly. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere with stunning views."

We have always loved Vrede and Lust. It’s a lovely wine farm that never disappoints. During our visit to their stall at Decorex, we were once again greeted by their amazing and friendly staff. A special thanks to Noxy for the great service and delightful tasting experience!

Beautiful farm and lovely rooms. I booked one of the Winter packages for my boyfriend's 30th Birthday and was relatively happy with the accommodation, although the other guests were very noisy and would walk right past our door in the mornings talking and laughing loudly. I was extremely appalled by the unfriendliness of the staff at Savoye restaurant (where breakfast and dinner is served guests staying on the farm). We had breakfast there on my boyfriend's birthday and there was only one other table. It took so long to get the two Mimosas that I ordered, and when I raised this with the waitress she simply huffed and stopped what she was doing on the POS screen to continue making the drinks. No apology or sense of urgency. And no friendly wishes when I told her it was my boyfriend's birthday. It was incredibly underwhelming to be served by such a grumpy person who responded with absolute indifference to every "please" and "thank you". Our breakfast on the last morning also took extremely long for the number of tables that were in the restaurant. When leaving, the hostess was also incredibly impatient with me when I asked why there was a price on the bill when our breakfast was meant to be included. She simply tapped her finger on the receipt and said "You're not being charged just sign it". You cannot ask a guest to put their signature on a bill with an amount on it, when it should actually read "0". I will admit that the food was great, but I will be happy to never see Savoye again. And I will warn anyone against staying at Vrede en Lust specifically because of the poor restaurant service. Such as pity, because the farm is beautiful and the receptionist was very friendly.

We were lucky enough to stay at the estate during a recent wedding. The stay was perfect, the setting is stunning, the food is amazing but most of all, all of the staff were incredible and were so friendly and attentive. While I think Cedrick, Sam & Vee poured me enough wine to last a lifetime I'd still gladly return and try some more!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We came for a wedding. Everything was so well thought out, organised and the little details that the staff leave for the guests is so special. The venue is spectacular, the staff are so friendly, patient and sweet. The food was all delicious! I recommend this venue for weddings or even for a little getaway. Amazing! 🎉🎉
