Vrede en Lust Wine Estate

One of the most beautiful places I've been lucky enough to visit. Lots to do on the estate which is comprised of several colonial styled building each with their own purpose: wine tasting, restaurant, shopping, picnics. The estate itself is lovely too wander through with one beautiful delight after the next.

We are so glad we did not give up on our wine tasting journey. After a disappointing experience at another vineyard nearby, we decided to give this place a try, and it turned out to be the best decision of the day. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and to our delight, they even allowed us to bring in a few treats from the Lust bakery on the property. We arrived just before closing, and as a bonus, the bakery offers fifty percent off after three in the afternoon. There were only a few items left, but it was a lovely surprise that added to the experience. The setting was absolutely stunning. The views were breathtaking and the entire space felt peaceful and unhurried. It was the kind of place where you could easily lose track of time in the best way. We also appreciated that they offered reliable and free WiFi, which made it easy to share the moment with friends and family in real time. And the wine. Decadent, flavorful, and thoughtfully presented. We thoroughly enjoyed our tasting, and the staff took the time to explain each pour with care and enthusiasm. It was clear they love what they do. This winery came highly recommended, and now we understand why. We would absolutely encourage anyone visiting the area to make time for a stop here. This place was our top choice for staying however we chose more intimate lodge but came for a wine tasting. Out of all vineyards we have visited this had the best service. Noxi done an amazing job. This is when a person knows her product and can read her client. The more we spoke and i shared what i like or dislike, Noxi would bring different opinions for me to try and 99% they were spot on. I believe this vineyards is also on the Franschhoek train route, has a few food options available and stunning views. 100% recommend to visit.

Vrede en Lust is truly a special place! We did their Women’s Day wine and champagne pairing with a macaron box. Such a lovely idea and so well put together! The wines were amazing, and the pairings felt thoughtful and fun. Big shoutout to Jade, who did our tasting, she was honestly the best! So friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and made the whole experience even better with all the insights she shared. You can tell she knows her stuff and truly enjoys it. Highly recommend this experience, especially if you get lucky enough to have Jade guiding you through it!

Visited Vrede en Lust today, all the farms we visited were so beautiful and each offered something different, but this one stood out. If you visit this estate ask for Marcheline, she is not only very knowledgeable about the wine but has a passion for estate and the region. A great hostess that leads to an awesome experience.

We had the best chocolate lindt pairing/wine tasting here! We didn’t have a booking but the staff were amazing and managed to squeeze us in on our honeymoon :) highly recommend as it offers something unique!

We recently dined at Savoye at Vrede en Lust Wine Estate, and from start to finish, it was nothing short of exceptional. Our party of five was warmly welcomed and treated to impeccable service that made us feel truly cared for throughout the evening. We began with a bottle of White Mischief Sauvignon Blanc, a crisp and refreshing choice that paired beautifully with our diverse mains. Each dish was a standout: The fillet was perfectly cooked and melt-in-your-mouth tender. The shrimp potjie offered a delightful twist on a classic, rich in flavor and beautifully presented. The harissa chicken brought a bold, aromatic kick that was balanced and satisfying. The lamb chops were juicy and expertly seasoned. I had the linguine, elevated with added grilled chicken—comforting, flavorful, and generously portioned. The venue itself is stunning—elegant yet relaxed, with a warm ambiance that invites you to linger. Whether you're seated near the fireplace or enjoying the views through the glass doors, the setting adds a magical touch to the meal. This was more than just dinner—it was an experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking refined flavors, attentive service, and a beautiful atmosphere in the Cape Winelands.
