Vrede en Lust Wine Estate

Our daughter and her new husband had their wedding at Vrede en Lust two weeks ago and it was wonderful. Juanne, the Wedding Coordinator could not have been more helpful from the booking right through to the last day of the celebrations. She was so lovely- a pleasure to deal with. The venue is nothing short of spectacular, the perfect place to have a wedding. There is also lots of accommodation available for the guests - which was so helpful as half the guests were from Scotland and half from South Africa. The food was amazing- so delicious and plentiful. I don’t know how they manage to produce high end restaurant quality food for 93 guests all at the one time! The serving staff were wonderful, so friendly and attentive- all our guests loved them. I cannot recommend Vrede En Lust highly enough. We loved it!

We visited Vrede en Lust during the hottest time — over a weekend when locals come to enjoy what are probably the best-cooked steaks in the area. I regretted having just eaten, because I definitely would have indulged. As for the red wines… I don’t even know how to describe them — calling them “excellent” feels too weak to capture their true quality. Amazingly, the restaurant crowd outside didn’t bother us at all. We smelled and sipped wines that will stay in our memory for a long time. What I’ll also remember is the professionalism of the lady who presented them to us. To top off our wonderful experience, we ordered a glass of Shiraz. It was a fantastic time, and I hope to return — and next time, that steak will definitely be on my plate.

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding venue. They delivered everything I wanted and more, and went above and beyond to support my wedding planner—everything ran absolutely smoothly. Both our overseas guests and local guests raved about the exceptional service and the stunning setting. Everything on the estate was in close proximity, which created an intimate atmosphere with breathtaking views of the mountains and gorgeous gardens all around. The staff were incredibly friendly and made our entire stay comfortable. And I have to mention the beds—they were amazing! I’m so grateful for the unforgettable experience. Highly, highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for beauty, professionalism, and true hospitality.

We enjoyed an amazing stay at this beautiful estate this past weekend. There was so much attention to detail given to every aspect of our stay. The staff were friendly, the estate was well maintained, the quality of the food and wines were amazing. It was difficult for us to leave and go back to our normal lives. Highly recommended as a place to visit for the day or stay for a few days. You won't be disappointed!!!!

Very nice view and outdoor deck. Our attendant was very knowledgeable about their wines and let us try a few extra things. The wine and cheese pairing was very well done — good portions of cheese, nice cheeses, and very well paired with the wines. Good value and very good wines. Most wines were 3-5/5 stars for my taste.

Beautiful location, but the experience was disappointing. The white wines were okay; however, we were unable to evaluate the red wines due to the complete disorganization of the service. Even after informing the staff that the Wine Tram would be departing soon, they were unable to complete the tasting within the 1-hour stop — which is the standard tram schedule and something the winery should clearly be prepared for. It’s frustrating to pay for a tasting and simply not receive the full experience due to the staff’s lack of preparation and efficiency.

Absolutely bang average. Not worth the money at all, the charcuterie and meat boards were sparse and not very exciting, not worth R250+ each. Each wine paring was nice, but also at other wine farms you’re getting way more bang for your buck. I felt like we were being severely underserved but the waiter insisted. You’d be better off going somewhere else. It is a beautiful place, but in terms of food and wine, it was lack lustre.

I had my wedding here in December 2025 and highly highly highly recommend Vrede En Lust to anyone who is overwhelmed by all the options for wedding venues in the Cape Winelands. We live overseas, but the planning and coordination team were absolutely superb. The food and wine were excellent, but it was the team that all the difference!
