Dubai Has Strict Rules Against Drinking Alcohol, but an Amazing Cocktail Scene

"Later that week, I’m sitting in Ginger Moon, the boho-inspired, poolside bar and kitchen at the W Hotel Mina Seyahi, an adults-only hotel that opened just over a year ago. I am overlooking the giant yachts resting in the handsome human-made harbor while the breeze floats by as though it, too, were manufactured. Ginger Moon understands the importance of providing guests with a superior cocktail experience and approaches mixing drinks like an art. The cocktail menu is written like a poem, lyrical and flowery with descriptions that start with “fly on the wild side,” and “get lost in the jungle.” I am sampling their ‘no waste’ dinner menu, part of Dubai Food Week that highlights this year’s theme: sustainability. The beverage manager, Emanuel Ferraz, has designed a cocktail for each course, crafted from kitchen leftovers. With the kitchen leading the way, this project has allowed Ginger Moon’s mixologists to get creative, combining new flavors, playing with the sweet and the savory. “There is a big connection between the W brand and cocktail culture, it's in our DNA,” says Ferraz as I sample his gin, tomato, and basil concoction. “When [guests] arrive in the hotel they already expect to find something unique. [They want] something different than the classic, something quite extravagant and [for us] we can say that cocktails are a big part [of that].”" - Travel + Leisure Editors

The room was large, comfortable, luxurious and perfectly clean. At check-in we were assigned a room facing the city side, although our Booking reservation was marked as Seaview. The view itself wasn’t bad — the marina looked nice — but we specifically wanted a sea-facing room. The next morning the hotel manager changed our room without any problem, and we truly appreciated the smooth handling and friendly attitude of the staff. Once moved to the Seaview side, the experience was outstanding. The rooms are quiet, spacious and very well equipped. The breakfast, although on the expensive side, is absolutely worth it — a fantastic selection of food, fresh ingredients, beautiful outdoor seating among greenery and birds, right next to the pool with a great view. The location is perfect: directly by the water, with access to the beach, hotel bars, swimming areas, and an easy walk to the marina. For sports lovers the hotel has a big advantage — through a skybridge you can access the modern rooftop gym in the adjacent building, which is large, well-equipped and perfect for daily training. The rooftop restaurant is another highlight: excellent food and a spectacular view. Overall, we were very satisfied and we will definitely return — we are already planning our next stay.

Great hotel but noise issues if facing the harbour||We recently stayed at the W Mina Seyahi and overall had a fantastic experience. The rooms are modern, spacious, and extremely comfortable, and the service throughout the hotel is excellent — staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to help. The pool areas are gorgeous too, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy the sun.||However, there are some important things to be aware of. Our first room faced the harbour, and the noise at night was extremely loud, continuing until around 4am. After two nights with almost no sleep, we requested to move rooms. The staff handled it very well and relocated us to a quieter room that was absolutely perfect — no noise at all.||There’s also a lot of construction happening in the area, which can be noisy during the day. It didn’t ruin the stay, but it’s noticeable.||Overall, the hotel itself is excellent, but I’d strongly recommend asking for a room not facing the harbour if you’re a light sleeper. With the right room, it’s a brilliant place to stay.

This hotel truly blew us away. The property itself is modern, vibrant, and every detail feels top-notch. But the real standout was the warm hospitality. Everyone—from the reception team to room service—went above and beyond, offering genuinely impeccable service.

I arrived quite late at night and was a bit worried about getting a room on the construction side, but everything was handled perfectly. Michelle, the Night Manager, helped me right away and made sure I was all set — such a pleasant surprise after a long trip!|The whole stay was amazing. The vibe at Ginger Moon was great, and the pool on the second floor is such a nice place to relax during the day. There’s so much variety around the hotel, and all the staff were super friendly and attentive. Definitely a great place to stay — I’d come back for sure!

Incredible! We’ve been to Dubai many times but this trip was the best by far. We stayed in one of the suites which was absolutely amazing with great views. The staff here are unbelievable. Everyone is so friendly and so willing to help. Our 1 year old son has a lot of food allergies and in every restaurant the chef would come out to discuss with us and would then make him anything we wanted completely off menu. They even went out to the shops to get him some dairy free yoghurts so that he could have them every day with his breakfast! We will definitely come back to this hotel as can’t see anything beating this.

I am rarely impressed by hotels in general, and hotel breakfasts in particular. I travel a couple of times a month and usually stay in nice hotels so the wow factor is dampened. I’m glad to say that the W blew me away and exceeded my expectations, from the tasteful decor, the friendliness of the staff and the attention to detail, it’s impressive. I have rarely had decent sourdoughs and baguettes in hotels, W has outstanding bakery items. Their 72% dark chocolate croissant is impeccable in flake and flavor, the honey section is the most complete I’ve seen, the egg preparations are creative and show a great know how. Rooms are superbly decorated, beds are comfy, mini bar is stocked, instead of the sad empty fridge that greets you in most hotels in the region, the sound proofing they did is amazing. Bravo W, you will see me again.

The hotel is nice but you will regret it. Watch the video. We booked our rooms four months ago and tried to make sure we did not face the construction site. You hear it all day and all night. There is also dust coming from it. We paid a decent sum for our rooms and I’m a Marriott Gold member. None of it mattered. Reception force you to occupy these rooms as more then one half of the hotel faces the site. You can’t even enjoy the pool as you will hear the noise 24/7. As I write this my windows are closed and yet I hear it loud and clear. Forget the balcony.
