Dubai Has Strict Rules Against Drinking Alcohol, but an Amazing Cocktail Scene

"Later that week, I’m sitting in Ginger Moon, the boho-inspired, poolside bar and kitchen at the W Hotel Mina Seyahi, an adults-only hotel that opened just over a year ago. I am overlooking the giant yachts resting in the handsome human-made harbor while the breeze floats by as though it, too, were manufactured. Ginger Moon understands the importance of providing guests with a superior cocktail experience and approaches mixing drinks like an art. The cocktail menu is written like a poem, lyrical and flowery with descriptions that start with “fly on the wild side,” and “get lost in the jungle.” I am sampling their ‘no waste’ dinner menu, part of Dubai Food Week that highlights this year’s theme: sustainability. The beverage manager, Emanuel Ferraz, has designed a cocktail for each course, crafted from kitchen leftovers. With the kitchen leading the way, this project has allowed Ginger Moon’s mixologists to get creative, combining new flavors, playing with the sweet and the savory. “There is a big connection between the W brand and cocktail culture, it's in our DNA,” says Ferraz as I sample his gin, tomato, and basil concoction. “When [guests] arrive in the hotel they already expect to find something unique. [They want] something different than the classic, something quite extravagant and [for us] we can say that cocktails are a big part [of that].”" - Travel + Leisure Editors

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ After a very long and full-on day, arriving at W Hotel Mina Seyahi felt like exhaling for the first time. The check-in alone set the tone — Jasper and Munir were a sight for sore eyes. Warm, calm, genuinely kind, and exactly the sort of welcome you hope for when you’re running on fumes. They made me feel instantly looked after. Breakfast each morning was another highlight. Every single member of the team was attentive, friendly, and effortlessly professional — the kind of service that feels thoughtful rather than scripted. It made starting the day easy and enjoyable (which matters more than people realise). A huge and heartfelt thank you to Vignesh, who took such beautiful care of my room. Immaculate, considered, and clearly done with pride — it never went unnoticed and made my stay feel truly comfortable and personal. This hotel gets the balance just right: stylish, vibrant, and fun, but with service that’s warm, human, and sincere. I left feeling rested, appreciated, and already planning my return. Highly recommend — and thank you to the wonderful team for such a lovely stay. ✨

This is our 3rd time at this resort and a fair few things have changed from our previous visit, however we still enjoyed a great break. |The hotel is no longer adult only, we were not told this before our visit, this makes the adult only areas even more important. The ongoing building construction can be a little annoying but is out of the hands of the hotel, however it is impacting the sunset views so you need to book a room on a higher floor. It also impacts the roads outside which became very busy when we left the hotel, again nothing the hotel can do but something to be aware of. |The very positive new change for us was Barista being on the all inclusive package again which gives an extra dimension for the evenings as there is always something happening here, a fun place to go. The gym is also available as an all inclusive W guest but we didn’t use it. |We experienced our first Bubbaliciois and Roast and wow amazing, the food was plentiful, lots of choice and a great atmosphere was created too. |The resort is amazing, the restaurant choices are excellent with high end food on offer, the room is always cleaned to a high standard as are the toilets throughout too. |As always the views at Attika for a sunset drink are beautiful.|Prior to our stay we were communicating with Trisha who was very helpful, supplying us hotel information, maps, making bookings for us which was really helpful.|We spent a lot of time at Ginger Moon and Jordy was always attentive and looked after us well. ||We had another fantastic stay and we will definitely be visiting again soon.

Hotel to avoid — extremely poor experience Our experience at this hotel was one of the worst we have ever had on a holiday. Although the construction site around the hotel is extremely disturbing, I must clearly say that the hotel services and the attitude of the staff were far more upsetting than the construction itself. The way guests are treated shows a serious lack of professionalism and respect for people who pay a lot of money to stay here. The hotel is surrounded by a massive construction site with around 10 buildings being built, blocking the sun, destroying any holiday atmosphere and creating noise from morning until evening. The hotel pool is basically unusable because of the noise and lack of sunlight. Housekeeping is terrible — the room is only cleaned if you call reception repeatedly. Reception answers very slowly and seems completely uninterested in helping guests. The “SPA” advertised by the hotel is a joke: the hotel spa does not have sauna, steam room or a jacuzzi. Upon asking they kindly tell you that we are allowed to use the facilitez of vita gym, am externalizat gym in the parking lot of the hotel. To reach it you have to walk through the underground parking wearing a bathrobe, take an elevator and walk through the gym — totally unacceptable for a hotel that claims to be luxury. On top of all this, we were going to be charged 150€ for internet (Wi-Fi) without being clearly informed in advance. We were allowed to connect freely and later blamed for using it, which is completely dishonest and lacks transparency. Additionally, items were added to our bill from the minibar that we never consumed, which seriously questions the correctness of their billing practices. Another extremely unpleasant situation happened on the beach: when we got up to go to another restaurant, staff literally ran after us on the beach as if we were trying to leave without paying — even though they knew our room number and our belongings were left on the sunbeds. This behavior is humiliating and unacceptable. The noise makes it impossible to rest, and the information given by reception is misleading — we were told we could see the sunrise from the beach, which was completely false. This hotel does not deserve even one star, and the price paid is totally unjustified. It is unacceptable to treat people this way for their money. Avoid this hotel.

The room was large, comfortable, luxurious and perfectly clean. At check-in we were assigned a room facing the city side, although our Booking reservation was marked as Seaview. The view itself wasn’t bad — the marina looked nice — but we specifically wanted a sea-facing room. The next morning the hotel manager changed our room without any problem, and we truly appreciated the smooth handling and friendly attitude of the staff. Once moved to the Seaview side, the experience was outstanding. The rooms are quiet, spacious and very well equipped. The breakfast, although on the expensive side, is absolutely worth it — a fantastic selection of food, fresh ingredients, beautiful outdoor seating among greenery and birds, right next to the pool with a great view. The location is perfect: directly by the water, with access to the beach, hotel bars, swimming areas, and an easy walk to the marina. For sports lovers the hotel has a big advantage — through a skybridge you can access the modern rooftop gym in the adjacent building, which is large, well-equipped and perfect for daily training. The rooftop restaurant is another highlight: excellent food and a spectacular view. Overall, we were very satisfied and we will definitely return — we are already planning our next stay.

We are currently staying at W Mina Seyahi for 12 days and, unfortunately, this has been one of the most disappointing luxury hotel experiences we have had. To start with the positives: the hotel facilities, beach area, and overall location are very nice. The beach and pool team distributing towels are genuinely warm and welcoming. In particular, Cedric from security at Mare deserves special recognition. He is exceptionally kind, clearly cares about each guest, remembers people and their stories, and consistently creates a positive atmosphere. He is by far one of the best parts of this hotel experience. Guest Relations also attempted to improve our stay by leaving small presents, like socks, which we appreciated, although some of the execution felt poorly considered (one small chocolate bar for four people across two rooms, still thank you). Unfortunately, the service and internal organisation of the hotel are far below the standards expected from a W hotel. We paid for two high-floor rooms with a beach view, yet upon arrival we were given rooms on the 7th floor (out of 31) with a construction view. After raising the issue, we were informed that the room change could only happen after five days, which is more than one third of our stay. As compensation, we were offered one free dinner, which is entirely inadequate given the length of stay and the downgrade in room category. We had to move rooms, which was inconvenient and disruptive, and the new rooms were only on the 9th floor, still far from what we reserved. The handling of this situation by management was extremely poor. Fabian, the Front Desk Supervisor, was ineffective and unhelpful in resolving the room issue. He stated that the room category we booked was not available, which only highlights a serious failure in room inventory management. Selling room categories that are not actually available for the booked dates is misleading, and no meaningful solution or adequate support was offered. Breakfast is consistently chaotic. There are no available tables, missing cutlery, no spoons, no plates, and food items frequently run out. On one occasion, when we asked a waiter where the milk was, he did not know and went to ask a manager. The manager simply ignored him and walked away. This lack of basic coordination and visible disrespect between staff members is concerning. Overall, staff appear slow, disengaged, and often unresponsive. This is not an isolated incident but a daily occurrence. Housekeeping is unreliable and inconsistent. Rooms are not cleaned at a consistent time each day, and on some days housekeeping arrived late in the evening when we were already back in the room, resulting in the room being left uncleaned. Basic amenities such as tea, cotton pads, and other essentials are frequently forgotten. Our experience with the concierge was also unacceptable. Vladlena, the concierge, was dismissive and unprofessional throughout the interaction. When I explained that the room allocation and offered compensation were inadequate, she responded with “Well, your parents have already agreed to that.” I clarified that I was not present during that discussion and that no such agreement had been properly confirmed. Her facial expression and tone were dismissive, and she abruptly shut down the conversation, making it clear that our concerns were not taken seriously. This behaviour is inappropriate for a guest-facing role in a luxury hotel. Additionally, the reception team was unaware of our New Year’s Eve reservation and informed us that we would need to resolve it ourselves, as they could not see anything in the system. I had to contact multiple people just to obtain basic information, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this level. The lack of communication between departments is alarming. Reception repeatedly redirected us to Food & Beverage, with no clear ownership of the issue. Overall, while the property itself is attractive, poor service, weak management, and lack of staff training mean this hotel fails to meet the expectations of a luxury brand.

We came with the hope of finding some peace and quiet. The hotel staff are genuinely very friendly, the breakfast is excellent, and the rooms are clean and well kept. However, relaxing is quite difficult. There is loud music playing at the hotel’s own beach, and constant techno coming from Barasti Beach. This feels more stressful than calming.||Because of the many events held at the hotel, several areas are often closed off for guests. We wanted to visit the rooftop bar spontaneously, enjoy a drink, and take in the view. This wasn’t possible, as the outdoor area was closed for a private event, and at the Attiko rooftop entrance we were treated rudely by very arrogant reception staff. This was truly disappointing as hotel guests.||The hotel itself is beautiful and has an impressive atmosphere. But despite the great friendliness of the team, our stay was overall a disappointing experience. Anyone looking for real relaxation may not find it here.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ginger Moon for brunch, and it was an exceptional experience! The atmosphere was vibrant and inviting, setting the perfect stage for a delightful meal. The culinary offerings were nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The highlight for me was the shrimp tacos and the stunning dessert platter, which was a feast for both the eyes and the palate. I must give a special shout-out to the manager, Raj, whose attentiveness and warmth made our visit even more enjoyable. He ensured everything ran smoothly and that we felt welcomed throughout our meal. Additionally, our waiter, NyI, was fantastic! He was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive to our needs, enhancing our overall dining experience. If you’re looking for a brunch spot that combines great food with outstanding service, Ginger Moon is the place to be! Highly recommended!
