4-star hotel with 2-star quality. Reeked of cigarettes in the first room I was in. Things were missing- random toiletries, towels, the tv remote... asked for a room change and got a room with scuffed doors with peeling paint, holey sheets, and the horrible smell of weed that never let up. You'll find hair and the false eyelashes of the past guest all over your room. The water here stinks, so make sure you have your own to drink before arriving. Heard other guests complaining about little brown bugs in their room. Watch out. The staff is friendly. I don't think it's worth complaining to them about the damage their guests are doing behind closed doors. Just know that you're better off at a hotel with much cheaper rates.

My second time staying there and loved it. Historic building in downtown area, this hotel is also quintessentially W. Modern interior mixed with a historic architecture. Also is a host to a museum and an observation deck. It’s connected to skywalks but some were closed, so I used regular street navigation. Rooms are large and comfortable with huge bathrooms. Service is friendly. This will be the hotel for me to stay in the future.

Once the lobby renovations are completed, this property will be 5 stars. Great location with plenty to do within walking distance and the speakeasy on the 27th (???) floor is awesome with some great views. Concierge was very helpful as I searched out some good Mexican food for a business dinner!

It's been a while since my visit, but I remembered recently how fond I was of my overnight stay here with my lady at the time. We were in town for a quick day trip in order to exchange some music gear and we picked the Foshay as our spot to spend the night, purely on a whim. I'm so glad we did though. It gave us exactly what we needed and a little bit more that we didn't even realize we would like. That said, it was amazing for us in our early/mid 20s. I'm unsure if an older duo or a family would feel the same, but it's certainly better than most spots at this budget point and around this part of town. Solid spot. Will spend a night there again.

Very cool historical hotel. The hotel location is great. Connected to the Skyway. The staff was friendly and professional. The room was clean, but a little small and felt a bit dated. The bathroom was nice. The shower and water pressure was fantastic. View was decent from room. The view from the observatory was amazing. The Prohibition Bar was great. Awesome view. Great drinks and service. Manny’s Steakhouse was delicious. The Living Room felt like a brothel. Overcrowded and understaffed. The one area of the hotel I would avoid. (On the weekend anyway. During the week wasn’t bad). Nice hotel at a good price for the area. I would recommend staying here.

We usually stay at this place twice a year but over the last 6 months they have absolutely gone downhill. The refrigerator was broken and ruined our food from Mannys. the toilet didn't stop running the whole time. Take a look at the picture and you'll see that even though we stayed in a suite the bedding was shredded and ripped. The wine glasses had lipstick on them so they aren't even being cleaned. We talked to the front desk and they said they would throw us a couple Marriott points which obviously is not going to do anything to keep us from changing to another hotel. I could go on and on but we will not be back here as we will stay at the Four Seasons or elsewhere.

Google
We had great experience staying there. Rooms are nice and clean. The area around hotel feels a bit dirty and unsafe, which made our stay less pleasant since we needed to walk to a restaurant. Another big downside was poor communication. I was booking hotel beforehand, when all amenities were available. In may that started renovating and until our stay everything was supposed to be done. Couple days before our trip I saw on a website that deck is closed, which made a bit sad since I wanted to use it. We changed our plans and arrived at the hotel later because of the closed deck, which was functional, but it was not enough time for us to enjoy it. We decided to use bar on 27th which was closed, but everywhere else was listed as open. Inconsistency in information is annoying, the website says one thing, the emails from Foshay said another thing, and at the end of the day it is totally different situation.

Google
Pretty hotel, hip rooms. We had a corner room with three windows… that faced a BRICK WALL! So if you want a view, be sure to ask for one. Also, we visited in May and the room was SO COLD — we moved the thermostat up and down, even up to 80 degrees, and the room temperature never changed over 3 days. Good location downtown, but we will likely choose someplace else next time.

Yelp
Booking the same day, I was unable to request a Platinum suite upgrade. Very disappointed that at 16% occupancy the W didn't upgrade our room based on status. The room was very clean. One of the amenities that is greatly appreciated is pump hand soap. I usually bring my own for a long stay but this was just one night. The provided shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion were all great too. Blackout shades kept the room nice and dark when we slept in the next morning. A few issues ... The rain shower didn't have a light or much pressure. No way to adjust it. The bedside lamp flickered constantly when illuminated. The sheet like bedspread wouldn't stay put and kept slipping down towards the foot of the bed. The TV doesn't have a guide lineup - not a big issue but nice to have. I have been visiting the Foshay since I was in grade school. At that point it was the tallest building downtown until the IDS was built. It is a beautiful building and I still love the observation deck. When you stay at the hotel you can visit the observation deck daily until 9pm for free. Don't miss it. Or the museum that covers the building's history. The W wisely decide to keep some of the original building details. Classic elevators and some original stone carvings are a nice touch. Wish they would have kept more. Don't miss the Prohibition Bar on the 27th floor. You never know who you might see here. But the best part is the friendly staff and the Attitude Adjustment drink. It has a flower that you chew and swallow. It makes your mouth numb and tingly. Save some of your drink for when the effect wears off in about 10-15 minutes. It will taste different. A nice stay when you are downtown.

Yelp
Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Great bar off the lobby to meet up with work friends staying at the same hotel. Does not have a great lobby; very small. But all in all was a good place to stay for a quick overnight business trip.

Yelp
This is the worst W I've ever been to. It desperately needs a facelift and I didn't appreciate it turning into a friggin night club after dinner hours. Totally cheapens the whole hotel image. A lot of us were disappointed. And why the hell is it so dark?? Everyone struggles with getting the elevator to work even without the super dark interior. Also, they need to have more attendants at concierge. It's sometimes not manned which is not okay for a hotel. I did appreciate them looking for my Amazon packages for me and finding them. They're mostly friendly, it's just the hotel itself wasn't great. I did like having a coffee shop in spitting distance right out the skywalk. I visited the rooftop bar on a previous visit and it wasn't all that either. Kind of crummy actually. I understand it's kind of a hallmark of the area but I'm not sure that translates well for Minneapolis.

Yelp
I came into Minneapolis on day and stayed here. My reservation wasn't correctly made due my companies fault, not the hotels fault what so ever. But the girl at the front desk stayed with me and figured out what the issue was! The whole staff in the front was amazing, sweet and funny! When i walked into the front doors i noticed a long hallway until you get to the front desk. I'm not going to lie, i got lost and walked to the right where the bar is instead of walking straight. They have many rooms and many artistic things on display! It's like walking through an art Gala. They put me on the 16th floor and the view.... AMAZING! If you want a little fanciness to spruce up your stay, come here! I really enjoyed myself, just with the hotel itself!!

Yelp
Centrally located hotel with a very chic steak house restaurant. I arrived late to check in and was nice they gave me a high floor room. The room had a nice view and was very clean. I also decided to order room service. Remind me to never get this. They charge you an arm and a leg! I got from room service the shrimp scampi, small salad and a side of veggies. It was one of the most expensive meals ever and for what it is actually worth. Note they charge you tax, gratuity, room charge fee, AND you have to add another tip! Overall nice and clean room, never order room service!

Yelp
The hotel was in a nice location. Walking distance to a lot of different restaurants and close to a convention center I was going to for a conference. Parking around the hotel is essentially parking structures or parking lots that you have to pay for. The hotel itself offers valet (56$ overnight parking) but no free parking/standard parking. You're better off parking in a parking lot by the hotel for about 26$ for 24 hour parking. Most places don't have in/out privileges which is ridiculous. The inside of the hotel was a nice vibe; definitely 1920s. The check in staff were subpar. They checked us in and gave us keys but did not tell us what room we were in, how to access wifi, if there were any breakfast options, where the elevators were, gym, etc which is expected when being checked in at a hotel. They should be retrained or not work there. At check in, only 1/4 of the elevators worked. So it took about 5 minutes wait time to get up/down form time to time. At check out, 2/4 worked. The room itself was very pretty and similar to the first floor (1920s vibe). It was a king corner room. The bed was comfortable, the pillows were nice. The bathroom was very cute and had a nice shower. The shampoo/conditioner/body wash were all containers that are prefilled by staff and therefore anyone has open access to them. There were lots of towels, there was AC that worked, and a stocked small fridge. An espresso machine was there and able to be used. A workable remote and tv were there. We had a do not disturb sign hung in the mornings but when we asked staff to clean the room (as they hadn't cleaned, maybe due to the sign).... One day- towels were replaced, new bed sheets added, but trash wasn't taken out. The other day- they only gave us towels and we had to give them our trash and that's the extent of cleaning we had that day. Additionally, when the sign wasn't placed on the door- they walked in without knocking... The bar downstairs was busy but nice. The drinks were good, albeit pricey. We did not go to the speakeasy and you had to pay an additional 15$ to see the observatory. So we did not do this either. Overall the place is nice but the staff should be retrained.

Yelp
Don't care for this W. Went in this morning after just getting in from San Diego. Decided to go up top for a view. Long sandy hair and sandy bearded guy- who I would assume is the help, was short and rude. We'd asked him what time the sky deck were to open. To which he barked, "12pm, but you'd need to visit to desk to verify the time". The desk ladies were nice and let us know it was in fact 12p. We decided to sit on the black chairs to book a different visit. At that point the blue shirt long sandy haired guy paces by looking at his watch, as to gesture we couldn't sit there for long. He then goes up to the desk ladies to speak with them, while at looking our way. I couldn't understand. ..With 150 dollar/night rates, I couldn't believe his performance. I'll never book a stay here, and I would implore you to book elsewhere. Seems the place is full of manic maniacs and party people. Not classy what so ever.

Yelp
The hotel itself isn't bad and if you stayed you will be fine. My lower rating is more so it didn't feel the vibe or feeling of the W brand. The hip trendy vibe is only partially there in the lobby. The rooms are pretty small for a W as well, they are nice just small. Since this is a downtown hotel also expect your view to be looking into another building and vice versa. So if that not your thing, definitely not a right fit. The continental breakfast was very disappointing. It was like a fruit cup and plastic wrap danish taste from the local 7-11.

Yelp
As a seasoned traveler, I have encountered my fair share of hospitality highs and lows. Unfortunately, my recent stay at The W Minneapolis - Foshay falls into the latter category, leaving me utterly disappointed and disrespected. Any semblance of admiration quickly disappeared when I discovered that my Apple Watch had been stolen from my room - Not sitting out in the open, but unzipped and taken directly from my closed suitcase. The blatant disregard for guest belongings and trust exhibited by the housekeeping staff is simply unacceptable. It's disheartening to think that such dishonesty permeates the very core of this establishment. Despite reporting this immediately to management and the corporate customer service team, with hopes of resolution and assistance; I was met with excuses, lack of concern, and dismissiveness. Not only did they fail to address my concerns with seriousness, but they also attempted to downplay the severity of the situation. Their lack of empathy and unwillingness to take appropriate and professional action only served to fuel my frustration and disappointment. In an industry built upon the foundation of hospitality and trust, The Foshay has demonstrated a profound deficiency in both regards. As a guest who entrusted them with my comfort and security, I expected professionalism, timely action, and proper handling of the situation. Instead, I was met with pure neglect and not a single action to rectify the theft. In more bizarreness, four days after I checked out of my room, the hotel (housekeeping I was told) attempted to place a random watch, that did not belong to me, in the same room. This attempt to replace the stolen item was both inappropriate and unacceptable - Again, this was a completely different watch that did not belong to me, so I can only wonder who the previous guest was in which that watch was likely stolen from. My experience at The Foshay was marred by incompetence, negligence, and a blatant disregard for guest privacy and trust. I strongly advise prospective visitors to exercise caution and reconsider their lodging options. No amount of amenities can compensate for the loss of trust and peace of mind endured during my stay.

Great stay at the W here. Excited to go back. A lot of fun I really liked the adjacent steak house

Yelp
Parking is a joke. After riding around the building several times we finally just stopped in the road and put the hazards on so I could go to the front counter and wait for someone to decide to show up. When we finally got a valet, he encouraged us to not leave in our car but to walk or call an Uber. The mini fridge did not have a place for food but that didn't matter because it had not been restocked with the list of alcohol that could be purchased. We couldn't cast to the tv to provide sound for sleeping and the coffee machine (espresso) didn't work. Not worth the $350 I paid to stay here. The Saint Paul Hotel was head and shoulders above this place at almost half the cost.

Yelp
An Art Deco hotel updated to a modern interior. The only original deco details are to be found entering the foyer. Sadly, the hotel was gutted some years ago. Our room on the 20th floor was comfortable with a view of the Downtown skyline. We were, however, disappointed in housekeeping. Our sheets weren't changed in the 6 nights we stayed, we had one tiny soap that we went through in the first few days and was never replaced and used coffee cups weren't cleaned or replaced until we called the front desk. The room never felt like it had been properly cleaned on a daily basis. We did enjoy the 27th floor "Prohibition" bar but it was really overpriced. A couple of drinks each for four of us with a small plate of humus and veggies set us back $250! The observation deck on the 30th floor with its small museum is a must see, and is free to visit whether you are a guest of not. Overall, a good hotel in the Downtown area but needs attention to the details of room cleanliness.

Yelp
Unfortunately I am disappointed with my stay and would not recommend to anyone. Here are my major gripes: 1. The room was not supplied with wash cloths. I was told there was an issue with their laundry and wash cloths were not available. I had to use one of the long hand towels to wash my face. They were supplied the next day after I had to ask for them. They should have been supplied once the room was clear for check-in. 2. Day 2 of my stay, I was out of the room all day only to return to a locked door - I was denied entry to my room. Went downstairs to find out from the hotel employee why....there was a snafu on their end and provided me with another room key. I was tired from my all day outing and all I wanted to do was rest - instead I was extremely aggravated. I was however provided with a complimentary bottle of wine. 3. The room was small, the way the tv was situated in proximity to the bed made it impossible to watch television comfortably. 4. Cold water from the bathroom sink took forever to run. When I turned the lever for cold water it was hot and took awhile before it ran cold. 5. Elevators are dark, the hotel lobby itself is dark. I booked this host hotel as it was recommended by Paisley Park for the Prince celebration. To sum it up, I wish I went with the hotel in Bloomington that I originally booked.  The rooms are bigger, it is a brighter hotel and have always enjoyed my stay without a problem. Even with the complimentary bottle of wine I am still disappointed. All points above I have never experienced with the Hilton Minneapolis/Bloomington hotel. Lesson learned. The only good thing about staying at the W is that it's downtown and that the launch party was in the hotel. That is all. I would not recommend it.

Yelp
I have wanted to stay here for years. We live in St Paul so justifying the cost when our own comfy bed is minutes away was part of the reason it's taken so long to come. However it was my partners birthday - we planned to eat at Manny's and we thought let's make a night of it. We arrived and the first thing that happened was we were assigned a room on the 20th floor (2003). Initially I was pleased thinking the view should be nice from there. We took the elevators up, went in and couldn't get any of the lights on. My boyfriend travels regularly for work and realized quickly that there was no power - we called the front desk and told her the issue and what room we were in and she immediately said "oh yeah - that's probably because no one has used that room in a long time" (odd) Then she says would you like us to send up a technician? Not wanting to sit in the dark and wait for a "possible" solution, I said is there another alternative? A different room? So she looks and says they can move us to a room on the 17th floor. No offer to bring us keys or meet us on 17 - and no apology - so we have to schlep all of our bags back onto the elevator, go all the way to the lobby and get the other room keys. Even then, never once was there an apology for the trouble or inconvenience. Once we got into the next room luckily the power was fine but the lights being on showed plenty of reasons they might have rather kept it dark. I understand it's a hotel and people come and go so slight wear and tear would have gone unnoticed, but this room had scuffs and chips on every wall and door. All the more noticeable because of where we were. I had visions of this beautiful hotel (in literally my favorite building in the MPLS skyline) and for the cost to spend the night when we could simply have driven home after dinner, it was disappointing to see. I wish the reasons I'd call this stay memorable were positive instead of negative. In this case it's W for the L. Such a shame.

Yelp
My BFF and I recently booked a girls' night in at the Foshay and was super excited about it. We planned out our evening and was looking forward to experiencing one of Minneapolis' most luxury hotel. We booked a room with two queen bed and from looking at the photos, it looked pretty nice and chic. Check in was very smooth and front desk was absolutely kind. The decor was pretty chic and modern in the lobby area. When we went to our room, both my friend and I was shocked at how tiny the room was. There was no space for a full size desk. The closet was TINY. The minibar was not impressive. The room was small and cluttered. While taking a shower, the shower door couldn't close all the way either. The bathroom was a sliding door with no lock. The decor was not impressive. I had this idea that the Foshay would take you back to the 1920's Art Deco era but instead we got boring. The WORST part was the vent/radiator made noises ALL NIGHT LONG and would wake me up every hour or so. I lost more sleep at the hotel than at home. I'm not sure if it's due to it being an old building but I was so annoyed. I did like the feather pillows though. As for dining, there's Manny's Steakhouse just downstairs but we opted for Hell's Kitchen across the street instead (in another review). Plenty of dining options. As for drinking options, there's The Living Room in the lobby area that serves small plates and then there's Prohibition Bar that serves just drinks. The Prohibition Bar was just okay. Overall, since this was considered a Luxury hotel, I expected better amenities like a spa and bigger rooms.

Yelp
4 elevators? Maybe 1 works, room with a view of large flood lights and brick walls. Bed is horrible.

Yelp
I like the concept of a boutique hotel situated in a historic building. And the vibe is still cool as a W should be. But - as far as Marriott Boutique properties (located in downtown MSP) - the Elliot and the Rand have this place beat, especially for the price for the nights I quoted. The rooms are hip but feeling a bit dated, the check in service was slow, the fitness center is in what feels like a basement and is horribly undersized. We got back from a basketball game at midnight and the Living Room (lobby bar) was already closed and put away for the night. This used to be the late night hot spot. Wha?

Yelp
This was a first ever visit to W brand for my fiancé and I. Previously I would always go for a different chain, but this time decided to give W a try! The experience was perfect right from the check-in. The receptionist, Nicole, was very sweet and accommodating. She upgraded us to a gorgeous corner suite on 26th floor with gorgeous views of the city - see pics! As ambassador members we got free continental breakfast delivered to the room every morning. The breakfast included two delicious pastries, fruit, a little bit of yogurt, orange juice and a pot of tea or coffee. Pretty good, not enough for 2 people, so we also added lobster Benedict to our order. It was nice to see Meredith in the morning as she brought in our delicious breakfast. I don't know, there is some special magic to me in room service ... :) The hotel has very hip bar on 27th floor and also a cute bar with a fireplace downstairs. Overall, great first experience with W! Looking forward to come back!

Yelp
We stayed at the W for Valentine's Day. We checked into our room, and it was determined there was an electrical issue. They upgraded us to the E-wow suite for the inconvenience. It was a bit annoying to have to change rooms, but they definitely made up for it. Nicole at the front desk was phenomenal!

Yelp
This is a review from our wedding room block. The only positive part of the experience with this hotel was the rooms were clean, and had nice views. The customer service was terrible. It was pretty much the only thing that "went wrong" with the wedding - so I guess that's a blessing. I provided feedback to the hotel but I will summarize a few of the problems. Sales was responsive of course - but the issues were all after being passed to the event managers. - Potential guests started telling me they were being turned away- even though we should have still had rooms in the block. - Lack of communication. I sent multiple emails (spaced out over days to allow response time) and made many phone calls. I never received a return call - I did get a partial email response eventually - One guest who had pre-arranged airport pickup was left at the airport. She received pushback when she reached out to the hotel. - Welcome gifts/ notes were not passed out. this is something they offer to do in the contract. We hand wrote each note and dropped them off before hotel check-in. I arrived to check in myself and noticed nothing was given to my mother in law. I mentioned this to the staff, then watched my next guest checking in also not receiving the gift. I ended up taking them all back as it was clear they would not be handed out. - The notes included shuttle information that we booked through the hotels transportation partner. The shuttle ended up being under utilized because people didn't know about it. Also because I didn't book the shuttle until last minute because the hotel was so delayed in confirming how many people were actually staying in our block. -All the rooms were on different floors which made them inaccessible because key cards only work for the floor you were staying on. That was a really long "summary" of some of my qualms but want you to have the info to determine if I was a bridezilla or if the service was actually bad.

Yelp
I was sent email, signed by manager, that I was entitled to free breakfast at restaurant for myself and companion during each day of my stay. This is Bonvoy's policy for W Hotels for titanium elite members. When I arrived I was told that they are excluded from that policy, and even though I was sent email, they would only provide a continental breakfast of rolls and fruit. Attempted to contact "Director of Room Operations" and "Manager" but no one returned my calls or responded to emails. Very disappointed in guest service at this hotel! 3 days!

Yelp
This hotel is amazing! I love the vibe of the hotel. The suite is extremely large, beautiful, comfortable, and CLEAN! The front desk is very attentive to your needs and will send up your request in a matter of minutes. I would highly recommend.

Yelp
Pre-arrival: Days before I arrived, Lisa reached out to me as the W Insider to introduce herself, and see if there was anything they could do to make my stay more enjoyable. I thought that was very kind of her. The Staff: The lady at the checkin desk was very friendly, and I was upgraded to a higher room thanks to my SPG Gold status. The Room: My room was decently sized compared to other W hotels. The rooms have always been on the small size in my mind, so my upgraded room felt very large. Very chic paint and ambience. There was the usual food and bar items pre-stocked. The shower was nice and spacious, with a rainfall spout. Living Room Bar: On the first night, a group of my friends hanged out in the Living Room bar, located on the main floor. Our waitress/bartender was very friendly. I had a blackberry mojito, which was pretty delicious. My favorite part of the night however was the food. The Cheddar Cheeseburger with Bacon was absolutely delicious, and our entire group ordered one. The burger and deviled eggs were bursting with umami flavor.

Yelp
I traveled to Minneapolis for my friend's wedding, and found The Foshay, as part of an Expedia deal with my airfare. Upon entering the building, you immediately see the dim, purple lighting of the hotel lobby and think you're in a club. But it's just so like the W to be all modern and chic! I got to the hotel hours before check in, which is at 3PM; but the front hotel staff was able to check me in earlier since a room was available - sweet! And what's even cooler is that after you check-in, they offer a complimentary vodka-Sprite, which of course I accepted! I had a standard room with a king bed, and loved it the minute I stepped in! The decor was very savvy, with a contemporary feel. There was a mini-bar with all the necessities for mixing cocktails, and a fridge stacked with a bunch of snacks for purchase. For toiletries, they use Bliss Spa products, which was super nice - and provide two bottles of complimentary Dasani water, in addition to water for purchase. Even the small details of this place really stood out to me, like the DVD player in the room, iPod stereo dock, USB outlets for most of the lamps in the room, the dim, pink light in the shower, etc... The only downside is that they do not offer free wifi, which in this day of age, is bogus, especially since they charge you $14 for use. There were some other outrageous charges, like if you ordered room service, there was a 20% charge in addition to a delivery charge. They also charge you $100 for incidentals when you check-in, which hopefully will be taken off my account soon. Also, since my room was by the elevators, I could hear when people were walking to and fro the elevator, and even heard in the middle of the night my neighbors having sex - hah! So, just be mindful that the walls are thin. A cool feature about this hotel is that it took over the historic Foshay Tower, where there is an observation deck at the top - free for hotel guests. The hours for the observation deck is from 11 to 5PM and there's a small museum area, with artifacts about the Foshay. Overall, this was a great stay in downtown Minneapolis.

Yelp
A friend and myself stayed here on 5/11/19 for a fun girl's trip. I'll be honest in saying that I'm pickier than most guests as I've previously worked at two Four Seasons properties (Scottsdale and Costa Rica) for over 5 years. In the hospitality industry details and customer service matter the most in helping get return business. Here are some notes from that stay. The good: - Free bike rentals to tour the city! - Kareese was super informative and on top of Room upgrades during check in. Had lovely suggestions. - Location, location, location. The bad: - Attention to details and overall customer service not this locations forte. See pictures of Room after servicing. (Kareese should be in charge of training staff for customer service since corporate failed here) - Request to empty mini bar not accommodated. Two pregnant gals stayed in the room and made this specific request. We were told we are "allowed" to do it ourselves. Oh geez, thanks. - Waitress at Prohibition was incredibly rude. When we arrived at the bar, for our first time, we asked if we needed to wait for a seat or if it was open seating. She said "yes that's how it works here." When we had questions on the menu for appetizers and dinner options she walked away as we started speaking. Zero patience, zero up-sell. We couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Yelp
The W is a high end hotel. Definitely a step above the usual Courtyards and Hamptons that I usually stay at, but the price was right and the location was right for my weekend of boozing in Minneapolis. Restaurant, bar, room service, all the usual bells and whistles you might want in a full service hotel. The room was clean and comfortable with a king bed, work desk and nice sized bathroom with a large shower. Paid wifi (free for elite rewards members). Nespresso machine with four pods, plus creamers and sweeteners. The "Mixbar" had a selection of good alcohol and snacks. Inside the drawer, more snacks and, surprisingly, an "intimate kit" that included a condom. Ooooookay. The only thing that was off from my stay was the doors slamming. From 9:00 am onwards, loud enough that my own door rattled in the frame. It's absurd and unacceptable. Ear plugs blocked the noise but not the vibration. Get some door springs, W. Oh, and be sure that you put the DND on your door. Because at 6:00 pm, the turn down service will unexpectedly wake you up from your nap.

Yelp
This hotel has a lot of issues now. May seem cool for visitors from suburbs ...but this is so below the standard Ws in everything they do. - place smells like hamburgers in the hallway, instead of brand fragrances - poor hallway walls, carpets and lighting - used menu with pencil markings was left on our bed by the room attendant - room phone doesn't work. I had to call to ask which price is current between the 2 menus in the room since each had different prices - the property hasn't signed up for mobile dining, which almost every good Marriott property has - mobile key wasn't issued properly, so had to go back down to check in Until we see a renovation or new management coming in, this is going to continue as a sad decline of what used to be pretty good.

Yelp
This is a typical W, amazing bed and sleek decor that benefits greatly from being housed in the amazing Art Deco Foshay Tower. Desk staff upon check in and check out were unfriendly, to a shocking g degree considering this is still Minnesota. No free WiFi, which in 2018, is ridiculous. The Keys Cafe is great for breakfast and the staff there made up for the cold shoulder we got from the W. Edited to add they will try charge $46 (reading older reviews, they've jacked this price up incrementally over the last year) to valet your car. Just download the MSP Parking app and park safely and conveniently on the street.

Yelp
The Foshay hotel, is a skyscraper in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Modeled after the Washington Monument, the building was completed in 1929. Since the building was designed to echo the Washington Monument, the sides of the building slope slightly inward, and each floor of the Foshay Tower is slightly smaller than the one below it. The interior of the building is a bit dark, it feels a bit like walking through Miami at night with the glow of the neon lights throughout the interior of the hotel. The masculine glam interior and decor mixed with the old charm of well maintained 1929 building makes this sexy hotel one of the most popular in the twin cities. The rooms are a bit small but that is to be expected with timeline of its creation, they are elegant and very comfortable. The suites provide much more room. The lobby bar is very popular, extremely comfortable, especially on the weekends and typically it is very difficult to find a table or empty chair at the bar. There are far too many amenities to list that this hotel offers, you will find everything you require and more. Take note of the unique aroma eminating throughout this hotel, it is something you won't forget and if you like it enough to buy the candles they do sell those as well. Cheers!

Yelp
Stayed here for the first week of February for a conference. Walking in feels like you're walking into a club. Dark purple club lighting everywhere leading up to the concierge. The Positives: + Speaker - they have iPhone 5 onwards lightning connectors. I don't know why this is so hard for hotels to upgrade!!! Huge points for having this. + The desk and chair - the chair was ergonomic and the table had plenty of room to work on + The bed - my king sized bed was extremely soft and comfortable. Slept like a baby. + Shower - the shower had a ton of space + Gym - great gym with boxing gloves & a punching bag, a yoga mat, pleanty of treadmills, a pull-up bar, and a fridge stocked with water. The Negatives: - Shower Pressure - the rain water shower was okay, but the pressure wasn't high enough for me - Tacky bed pillow - there was some sort of strange long silver pillow on the bed that looked like it was for hanky panky positioning.... Threw it on the floor right away. - Room size - the rooms are tiny! All alone I felt a little bit tight for space. Two people would definitely bump into each other often. Overall the W was a fun place to stay at and had a great location with skyway access to the rest of downtown Minneapolis. I would come back!

Yelp
Key points: Super sexy, modern hotel. The decor is dark, sexy, Sleek and very artsy modern. The Foshay museum and observation deck was a must visit and see if you like history and a view. The prohibition bar- meh- nothing special and overpriced in my opinion. The main bar upon entrance was pretty cool. Loungy areas with optional bottle service areas. The "ILLUMINATI" drink is a MUST try! The room we stayed in was pretty standard. It had all the amenities one would typically get: soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wash. Pillows were not comfy. The sheets/ comforter was meh. Didn't sleep all the cozy. And the room temperature/thermostat didn't feel like it was working properly. We upgraded and got the breakfast package which came with a $30credit towards Manny's steakhouse. Best idea ever and TOTALLY worth it! Not going to lie- Just because of its totally hip and swanky atmosphere, I would totally stay here again!

Yelp
I stayed here for a night for my anniversary and overall had a nice experience, but there were a few things amiss that prevented me from giving a 5-Star rating. I paid $180 for a "Wonderful King Room" on the 18th floor. The room itself was very nice, neatly decorated and had a great view on 2 sides! However, I can't help but feel extremely nickle-and dimed for such a luxury hotel. Nothing is included, not even internet! I've never stayed at a hotel that didn't have free wifi. Want to play music on the TV? You have to pay. Want to help yourself to the bottle of water on the nightstand? $5. And don't get me started on the parking. $42 for Valet or park on a ramp down the block. I'm not cheap but needles to say I parked in the ramp down the block overnight, which cost me a whopping $5! (Seriously, park at the ramp down the block). I was looking forward to getting a drink at the hotel bar but there was a fashion show going on with a DJ. It was so loud that I could only wait in line for 10 minutes before I left and looked for a different bar to go to. There were only 3 bartenders and hoards of people for this fashion event. I was also really looking forward to going to the Prohibition Bar on the top floor: nope closed on Sundays. Damn. I was also looking forward to going up on the observation deck, but that closed at 5. *sigh* My experience at the W was severely underwhelming. I'll be looking for a different hotel for the next special occasion. PS the beds are not that comfortable, the PillowTop is very thin and it's not luxurious.

Yelp
Needs a Makeover badly. According to the staff, a renovation is in the works starting in October 2019.

Yelp
Madison and the rest of the team were so amazing!!! They really took care of us during our stay. Room was beautiful and clean and the Steakhouse that is attached was so convenient. We wish we would have learned about the coffee and wine house that were attached with a patio! No one told us but next time when we stay we will visit there for sure! Thank you Madison for the special favor you ok'd for our 82 year old Dad!!! He loved his room as well.

Yelp
My stay here was not bad in the slightest. There's a few things to mention however over the hotel. The first is that there's an awesome bar that becomes a club at night over the weekend. I thought that was pretty neat since the club itself is very detailed. There's a few different low light colors all over. There's a fireplace in the middle and seats everywhere. It's a cool little area to check out. The next is that the shower was very bothersome. It looks pretty cool looking at it but the water itself came down like light rain. Very disappointing as I myself have long hair and took forever in the shower just trying to get the shampoo out. The next is the air. Unbelievably dry and hot. I know what you're thinking, just turn the temperature down. I did. I ended up changing it twice throughout the night to end up with it at 60 and even then it was barely hitting perfect temp. If you're just looking for a room to sleep this is the way to go. I do the same thing. For those however that are a little bit pickier, keep in mind the few things I mentioned.

Yelp
Check in 4pm Friday September 27 We approached the counter with reservations for, and the gal replied our internet is down and we CANNOT check anyone in. My reply, since I'd prepaid online, was I'll take a refund and find another hotel. When she said "that's fine" and I said great refund me. But she replies our internet is down. Well then, I'm going to need something in writing from you regarding this experience to be certain I get a refund. I'll give you my supervisor's card from the back office. How about you just get them? Not here. Wendy the amazing helper then said she'd called back to the manager and they could check me in from the back office! Why did the other gal act so shitty? I thought she was an angel; disappointing she works for a lousy hotel. DON'T STAY AT THE FOSHAY! The room was heated with a space heater. I called down to have two more brought up to find out none of the wall ports worked! Instead a long extension cord found under one of the beds! One heater did not work even when plugged to a working port. And no fan in the bathroom! The observation deck was closed and all the lights were completely out on floor 30 when we checked in and early AM. Couldn't enjoy it. The hotel experience Super sucked!!!!!

Yelp
Stayed here last week with a very special friend. The room was on the 25th floor overlooking downtown. The lobby was beautiful, the lounge area was breath-taking, and the rooms were to die for! Thank goodness the beauty didn't kill me otherwise I wouldn't have had the opportunity to enjoy the place. This place has swag, culture, and the decor & style was off the hook. Elevators were fast and the bar on the 27th floor was nice. Pricy but nice. This place also has a gym (which I had no time to check out) on the 22nd floor. We stayed in the Fantastic Room which has a separate living room with a huge sofa, King size bed and a separate bathroom area with a bathtub and separate shower. TV's in the bedroom and living room. Great location and service was good. Friendly staff. There was heavy rain on our last night and watching the thunder and rain from our room was beautiful. Definitely a Hotel to check out if you're in the area.

Yelp
Just ok. I think I'm hard to plead when it comes to hotels but this one was disappointing. It has an eclectic and edgy feel but seemed outdated.... the room was in my husbands name and he had to check in for a work event 30 feet from the front desk and I got the third degree when I tried to check us in, they asked for my id and then wouldn't check us in without seeing him which I found odd. They charge for WiFi..... for a "luxury" hotel I just wasn't impressed. We travel for kids sports often and typically stay at homewood properties, my 9 year old said that homewood is way way better. Haha! He isn't wrong!

Yelp
Really Fancy hotel, with smaller more modern style rooms in one of the most iconic building's of the Midwest! The Foshay Tower was built after the stock market crash and was modeled after the Washington Monument in an Art Deco style, it was once the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. Now it's a beautiful downtown hotel! My parents were staying here this past weekend so I got to check out the rooms, and the lobby and bar area! The rooms were sleek and modern, not huge but plenty large and had a great view of the city out the window. The bathroom in the rooms were super nice and modern. I dug the bar area, and the wait staff was super nice! I had a couple of beers and my parents tried some small bite plates of Grilled Cheese, and Flat Bread. They both gobbled them down so they must have been good! Everyone I encountered at the hotel was great and It was really sleek experience!

Yelp
Staff was amazing and accommodating. This is huge being a business traveler. The last thing you need is to interact with someone who is rude and/or doesn't take their job seriously. This definitely isn't the case with ANYONE that I interacted with at W Minneapolis. (-) I really didn't care for the decor in the rooms, it didn't seem gender neutral (-) There wasn't a M-Club or Concierge room at the hotel (+) Lively and upbeat hotel close to a ton of attractions in downtown MLPS (+) Amazing staff that is super accommodating I will definitely be back! Yelp
I had never stayed at this location but I've seen their rooms. They seemed nice and clean. This place is fun to hang out with friends on friday and saturday night. I like the lounge a lot where we can sit and talk while the music is playing in the background. The only thing is you have to 'dress up.' I don't mind dressing up, wearing the same clothes that is! :) Let's see the people there are either stuck up or nice. They will check to see what you are wearing or if you have any style at all. Sometimes I don't know whey i still go there. Btw there are alot of good looking people there ;)

Yelp
Beautiful historic hotel with amazing views. We really enjoyed our three night accommodations. It was nice to explore downtown and look up to see our hotel. The staff was amazing! Rooms were clean and welcoming.

Yelp
Nice hotel, a bit dark. And very pricey. The room was clean, bed was comfortable. The view was beautiful, and we'd stay again. They have a mini bar which is quite expensive, water is 6 bucks. Bring your own. Parking is 30 daily and I believe they said 46 Valet. WiFi is 16 a day once device. If your room has a sitting area thin walls and you'll hear everyone in the hall way but in the bedroom we couldn't hear anything. The couch was a little worn but not horrible. They had a computer desk and small fridge. Staff was nice, and you do need reservations for their bar and at mannys if you plan on eating there.

Yelp
This by far the fanciest hotel I have ever stayed in! We were guests here for a birthday party downtown and got a nice king bed room. The viewed sucked since it was just of the tops and sides of neighoring buildings rather than a city skyline view. I suppose that is because we got the cheaper room in this expensive hotel. The shower in the bathroom was semi-see-thru into the main room and the water came out as it was raining from the ceiling. The main floor has awesome decor in the bar and seating area. For a unique experience, travel to the top of the building, Foshay Towers, for beautiful views of the entire city.

Yelp
Nice views with mutilple windows. Couple newspapers available in lobby or if you want have it sent to your room included. But there's tons of alcohol drinks on/in the mini bar, more drinks than space. Had to empty it all out to put in our items. But surprisingly there's a bottle of complimentary water bottle. The coffee machine makes espresso not drip coffee. Shower is nice nice that you have access to coffee shops and sky ways without having to walk outside. Nice view of downtown when you go to 30th floor for history lesson. I guess I was expecting a bit more for the price to really wow me. Room was smaller than pictured (as usual)
