"Business travelers might help keep it quiet enough during the week, but when the weekend rolls around, the W Scottsdale earns its rep as a party hotel. By day, a young, trendy, and sometimes noisy crowd hangs at Wet, the rooftop pool, keeping well oiled with sunscreen and bar drinks. By night, the scene remains trendy, and noisy, at the lobby’s Living Room Lounge, or at Shade Lounge upstairs by the pool, often to a background of live music or a DJ, until the revelers are off to bed, or off to some of the many bars and clubs within walking distance. Rooms have all the tech gadgets, and the use of color and frosted glass makes them feel light and playful without going overboard."

First, I want to commend staff, they were outstanding throughout our visit. The front desk team was warm, professional, and even upgraded our room, which we greatly appreciated. It’s clear that service is a priority at the property. Unfortunately, the condition of our room fell far short of what we expect from a W property and from any hotel of this caliber. See photos from our room below. Despite the generous upgrade, the room had several significant issues that made our stay far less comfortable than anticipated: - There was visible mold along the shower caulking, which was off-putting and concerning from a health standpoint. - The bathroom vent was caked with dust, indicating it hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time. - The AC unit was ineffective, it struggled to cool the room even at the lowest settings, which made the Arizona heat particularly difficult to escape. - More broadly, the room showed clear signs of wear and lack of maintenance, which was disappointing given the premium positioning of the W brand. These issues disrupted what should have been a relaxing, high-end hotel experience. Given the W’s reputation for quality, attention to detail, and modern luxury, the contrast between expectation and reality was stark.

I had an amazing experience at the W Scottsdale! From the moment I checked in, the service was excellent. Jacob at the front desk made me feel welcomed and taken care of right away. The manager on duty the next morning (I wish I could remember her name!) was also Great and helpful. The room was spacious, stylish, and very comfortable — exactly what you’d hope for in a luxury stay. I also really enjoyed the pool area; it was vibrant and well-maintained, perfect for relaxing or socializing. I accidentally left an item behind after checkout, and the process of recovering it was smooth and efficient. Huge thanks to the W Scottsdale team for making everything so easy and enjoyable. Looking forward to staying again soon — highly recommend!

What an amazing experience. Everyone was very helpful. The employees went out of their way to have a nice conversation. You could not get a better location than that. Pools were amazing also. 5 stars

During my stay in April, I stored a Rolex watch and earrings in the in-room safe. After checking out, I later realized the items were still inside and immediately contacted the hotel. I provided full details and filed a police report shortly after. Despite repeated calls and multiple requests, I have yet to receive any direct outreach from the General Manager. Each time I called, I was told they were “busy” and was directed only to the Director of Security, Stephen, who was professional and transparent, but ultimately limited in what he could do. According to both the police report and the hotel’s internal review: Housekeeping reported the locked safe to security after I checked out. Security opened the safe without a witness present, in violation of hotel protocol. The guard reported “nothing inside,” but acknowledged the safe is dark and items could have been overlooked. Key card logs for the room malfunctioned and did not show who accessed the room. By the time this was investigated, contractors and other guests had already entered the space. To this day, no one from hotel leadership has reached out to acknowledge the situation or offer any resolution. I chose this hotel expecting a higher level of security, service, and professionalism—and unfortunately, my experience fell far short of that. I strongly urge future guests to take extra precautions with their valuables. In my case, the hotel’s security procedures failed me, and its leadership failed to take responsibility.

A Vibe You Won’t Forget – Exceptional Stay at The W San Francisco From the moment I arrived at The W San Francisco, I knew I was in for a special stay. Located right in the heart of the city, the hotel is perfectly situated near restaurants, bars, shopping, tour buses, and iconic landmarks making it an ideal home base for exploring everything San Francisco has to offer. What truly set this experience apart was the warm welcome I received from JP at the front desk. He immediately made me feel at home, walking me through the hotel’s impressive amenities and offering excellent suggestions on what to see and do around the city. His energy and professionalism were the perfect introduction to the vibe of the W. I was also fortunate to meet Sean Johnson, the hotel manager, who went above and beyond to connect with every guest in the lobby. His personable nature and genuine care for visitors made it clear that this hotel doesn’t just provide a place to sleep, it fosters a sense of community. Sean is a phenomenal ambassador for the W brand. My suite was one of the coolest I’ve ever stayed in and I travel a lot. It struck the perfect balance between comfort and style, with modern touches that made it both functional and fun. I felt completely recharged just being there. The hotel bar was another highlight. The food and drinks were top-notch, and the live DJ added an energetic vibe that carried through the entire weekend. The atmosphere was vibrant yet relaxed, exactly what I needed to unwind and refresh from the daily grind. Whether you're in town for business, pleasure, or a little bit of both, The W San Francisco delivers in every way. I’ll most certainly be back, and can’t wait to do it all again!

I came in for the restaurant/pool party and was immediately impressed with the valet service — especially Tre! He was super professional, fast, and had a great attitude from the moment I pulled up. Tre made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. You can tell he takes pride in what he does. Definitely a standout — give that man a raise!

I hosted a small event at the W Scottsdale this week. Taylor, on the sales crew was phenomenal. Super transparent with pricing and great communication, the event went without a hitch. My room was absolutely gorgeous and super clean. John and Monty with wheels remembered my name and helped me when I lost my car ticket. I didn’t want to leave and I can’t wait to come back!! Thanks W Scottsdale!

Such a great vibe in this hotel from the moment you walk in to checkout. The beds are a cloud and even though they warm you of the active loud night life you barely notice it. |Shout out to the valet staff as well Monty and his crew were amazing.

Yelp
Stopped by the rooftop and had another fabulous experience with my friend thanks to bartender Pete and his crew! What a lovely warm and inviting presence! He modified the turkey to make it panini for us which I so appreciated and made us feel welcome even though we weren't even drinking! The new Sexy Roman restaurant looked fabulous. We didn't stay since the bar was too busy but glad we got to see it.

Yelp
This was my second time staying here as I wanted to give it a second try. Didn't like the layout of my room the first time (bed was right in front the door when you walked in leading to minimal privacy) so this time I asked for a different type of room. The person at the front desk was really nice and accommodating but the rest of the experience unfortunately overshadowed this. Even though the room was larger and the bed was not directly in front of the door, I was placed in a room on the outside rather than in the interior. For three nights straight I could hear loud music and people outside until about 2AM and then at around 7AM is when the construction workers began their noise. The pillows were flat and the room was really dusty, triggering my allergies (this included mainly the curtains and behind the tv which had a thick coating of dust on it when I went to plug in my HDMI cord). The bathroom in the shower and behind the toilet had areas of mold as well. I would expect much more from a more upscale hotel. Lastly, as a titanium elite Marriott Bonvoy member, I received free breakfast for two. If I did not have this perk, a burrito, a home breakfast, and two OJs would have costed $93. Let me say that this is totally unacceptable. Overall, I was hoping for more but I just really wasn't all that impressed. W Scottsdale, please invest in some soundproof windows and do some quality checks on the housekeeping.

Yelp
This is for the Aescape robotic massage had done here as for technical I have to say it was pretty darn good it's very precise. You can change how deep or light you want it and what parts of your body you want it done on better than expected.i must say

Yelp
I loved staying here! The room service was amazing!!!! I had the absolute best breakfast in bed for my birthday!! It had locally baked bread with crispy Yukon gold potatoes, scrambled eggs, and the most delicious habanero maple sausage links!! At night I ordered chicken wings lollipops with my sauce on the side and it was SO good!! The duck fat fries were pretty good too. The atmosphere is definitely party friendly and not so much a relaxing hotel trip. So if you're not into loud music and drunk people; not the place for you! But the pool is AMAZING! And has the best views. The pool service is serviced by beautiful women and attractive men and the drinks/food is also very good! Prices are expensive but if you're staying here; you're asking for luxury!!!!

Yelp
A great Saturday at the W ! Loved the atmosphere and the team ! Each spot had its own umbrella that they could put up and down for you upon request.

Yelp
I loved everything about this hotel and my stay here. Perfect location, very welcoming living room lounge on the main floor. The room was quaint!! I thoroughly enjoyed the pool area and lounge. I'm definitely excited to plan my next adventure there. If you're visiting Phx staying at the W will not disappoint.

Yelp
The hotel bar in the lobby waters down their alcohol. I ordered an expensive margarita and noticed a lack of tequila flavor. Ordered a shot of patron after and it tasted like water. Cannot believe that a hotel of this caliber would perpetrate such a fraud. Never staying at any W hotel again

Yelp
This place wishes it was Vegas so bad. It's ridiculous. This place is all hype, and sadly disappointed in every aspect possible. Pool is extremely small, there's literally no hospitality whatsoever for hotel guest at the pool. The food is a play on fusion but unfortunately does not deliver, I've had water packed with more flavor. The staff is incredibly rude and lacks the ability to deliver basic customer service. The only thing going for this location is the convenience of where it's located. The spa here is as basic as it gets. The rooms/suites are underwhelming.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would. This is my first and last time staying here...this hotel has so much it needs to improve. Everything from the beginning to the end of our stay was subpar. We called ahead of time and talked to the concierge twice about making us a dinner reservation and they dropped the ball. Even though we confirmed, the reservation was never made. When we finally made our way to our room, the hallway where our room was smelled bad....like sewage. We went down to the bar for a drink and it took forever to even be acknowledged. I went to the hostess to ask if we were able to sit at the high top tables near the bar and was told "I only work the restaurant tables so you need to talk to the bartender". Absolutely terrible hospitality. I asked kindly and was completely disregarded. The next morning, we tried to go to the pool around 9 am and when asking for towels from multiple staff, we were told they didn't know when/how we could get pool towels. Other hotel guests were going up to their rooms to get their bathroom towels to use. We left a cover up on a chair while we had breakfast at the restaurant and one of the staff took it because apparently we were in an area reserved for resort pass. When we finally were able to find a staff member to help us locate our missing things we asked where we could lay at the pool as hotel guests and they pointed us to a small area with loungers where the towels were dirty. The area for actual guests isn't even next to the pool...they reserve all the loungers next to the pool for resort pass, and no one was even in that area. As hotel guests, you are treated so poorly. I am shocked by this experience at a W hotel.

Yelp
They didn't have a single pool chair even if I paid for one. $600 a night in Scottsdale Arizona and you can't even enjoy the pool.

Yelp
Loved our stay at the W Scottsdale. Received a very warm welcome from Brittany and Kyle. Brittany noticed it was our anniversary and was kind enough to give us a credit on our account for drinks, as well as a couple spa awards for a 25 minute massage or facial at their Away Spa. This coupled with bonus elite points and a room upgrade to a fabulous room with a massive balcony made for a great start to our trip. This place is super vibey. Dimly lit, ambient lighting, and a sort of chill EDM playlist in the background. And they have bikes to use free of charge in case you want to venture out into town, basket included for your belongings. There's both valet parking and self-parking off-site in a nearby covered lot off Brown. Great location and only a couple blocks from Old Town Scottsdale and a bunch of restaurants and nearby all around. While the pool was closed for maintenance, they had preemptively made arrangements with neighboring hotels Adeline (a boutique Tribute Marriott) and Senna House to allow us pool access free of charge. The Cottontail Lounge wasn't too busy since it was Thanksgiving weekend but like others have mentioned, they've got bouncers that sort of size you up before granting access. Being guests of the hotel, however, we didn't have any issues. They had a live band down in The Living Room, which was nice and a DJ spinning upstairs. Overall a great stay, with no real complaints. Most of my correspondence was through the Bonvoy app, including requesting amenities and requesting late checkout, which made it super easy. Would def visit again.

Sarah K.

Yelp
Tried to go to the bar around midnight for a drink but was turned away for "wearing sweatpants" and violating dress code. Meanwhile, I was wearing khaki dress trousers with a zipper so maybe the door man needs his eyes checked before turning away 2 women from an otherwise empty bar inside

Yelp
Nice trendy hotel in the heart of downtown Scottdale. We arrived on a Wednesday for a one night stay. Our room was spacious and clean but the bed left a lot to be desired in my opinion. The W Scottsdale is known to be loud on weekends with a party vibe. We ordered room service for breakfast, it was very good. All employees especially the valet staff were very friendly. Sushi Roku is located lower level and is accessible from valet area.

Brian W.

Yelp
This hotel was amazing, Alyssa was our concierge and she was absolutely amazing!! Thank you so much for recommending so many great things to do for our trip! Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
If you want to be treated horribly this is the place to stay. We were dropping off our friends and wanted to walk them in Vallet said yes no problem. When we were leaving they would not give us our keys without paying the $30 vallet fee. We kindly explained we were dropping off friends and went in for just a short period of time, our car was right there. We asked for a manager. He was rude and seemed more like security. After we paid. The vallet said "you gotta pay for services" very rudely. we won't be back and hopefully our friends stay somewhere else.

Yelp
The property is marketed to people in the community as a pick up scene. When I checked in Friday night the desk could not hear my name on my reservation because of the band and told me I had no reservation and then later sent wine to apologize for the confusion (which was generous). But you can't use many of the amenities because they are closed except to ticket purchasers for the Pool parties. On the occasion I visited the Halloween party was THUMPING at the pool (that all the rooms face) until 2 am. At which point the party moved in the halls of the hotel with partiers running up and down the hallways (howling) and then later getting into fights with other attendees and the hotel became a frat house scene. I stay at W properties fairly often and never has the vibrant social scene been so disruptive to other guests. As I sit here in the lobby one family who is checked out talked about how they came home from dinner to "pure chaos." I am checking out two days early which is a shame because I wanted to book a morning in the spa. But I rather go somewhere that has some separation from party goers. Enclosing it's like a high school student whose parents have a beautiful home and leave them alone with it and it's taken over for parties. I couldn't recommend this location no matter how lovely the building

Yelp
My friends and I stayed in the Extreme WOW Suite for my 24th birthday and I was extremely impressed. Having 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, and living room was amazing! The master bedroom was HUGE and had a giant walk-in closet. I was ready to move in. The decor was trendy and the leather coach was shockingly comfortable. We stayed at the W because of its close proximity to restaurants, bars, and clubs in Old Town Scottsdale. The staff were friendly and attentive. The few downsides that I saw were that the mini bar was outlandishly expensive. They charged $10 per water bottle. I drank 5 water bottles without knowing the price and wasn't too happy about the bill afterwards. In addition, the valet took a bit of time when we wanted to leave. I would still recommend staying at W Scottsdale especially if you want to go out in Old Town Scottsdale.

Yelp
Just spent my weekend birthday at the hotel, realizing after I left back home to New York, that my wallet was left in the room. Upon calling right away & finding out they located my wallet in the room. I paid $100 to have it shipped to me and $700 was stolen between the housekeeping and the security. I cannot say my wallet was stolen by someone, or any hotel guest had access to it. Very disappointed how everything was handled By the hotel, by staff, by management & security.

Yelp
Do not recommend this hotel if you plan on laying out. My friend chose it for a relaxing weekend. You literally cannot get a chair unless you want to spend an extra $3000 at the pool bar. We came out for a relaxing weekend and it was not. We learned our lesson Friday that they only have 18 chairs for the entire hotel guest. But. About 50 cabanas that are completely empty with no use. Saturday we set our alarm to arrive at 10am when the pool open and every chair was taken.

Anthony G.

Yelp
I booked my stay through Expedia but contracted COVID-19 a few days before the trip. Expedia contacted the hotel on my behalf and received confirmation via chat that the hotel had approved a courtesy refund). However, the hotel later refused to issue the refund. I contacted Marriot Customer Service on the matter on May 7th and they wrote they would get back to me within 5 days. I never heard back and this has not yet been resolved going on 7 months. This issue transcends the monetary value involved; it is a matter of principle and integrity. As a loyal Marriott member for over two decades, this experience has deeply shaken my confidence, and I am reconsidering future stays at any Marriott property. I am attaching images of the chain of communication for reference.

Quita H.

Yelp
Do not stay at the W unless you want some of the worst hospitality. The first rule of the service industry is to remember the guests are paying your salary, so treat them accordingly. We went to Scottsdale to visit friends that we had not seen since pre-pandemic, everyone happened to be in town during the 4th of July. This is not a busy time of year because it is scorching hot in Phoenix and most people want to leave and go somewhere cooler. Throughout our stay, most of the staff were consistently unhelpful and, at times, strange. One time when we went to the swimming pool, we were told you had to wear business casual. Excuse me - huh - what?? A paying hotel guest needs to be dressed in business casual to go swimming? There were literally two guests in the pool and about 10 staff members standing around. The area was empty and it didn't make any sense. We came back from a dinner and to get back into the hotel, they had roped off the front entrance so we had to stand behind some others in the heat and show our room key to gain access - again, the lobby bar was not full, it was weird how they were putting on this fake illusion of everybody is trying to get in this place. Nobody was trying to get in. The restaurant was dead and they insisted that we needed a reservation. Then they wanted to check your purse going into the gated area to get to the restaurant and then check it again when you leave. Did they think we were taking a knife and folk??? It was laughable. Pros - There were two pros - The check in was fine, we had reserved a suite and they upgraded us to a better one and the spa service was very good. The W hotel seems to have been overly focused on maintaining a pretentious image rather than providing a comfortable and welcoming environment for guests. During low season, especially in a hot climate, they should be more accommodating to attract and retain customers (Gold Marriott member). It was quite a disappointment, spend your money elsewhere
google avatar

Ruben P.

Yelp
Don't stay here if you want hospitality. Group of 10 of us couldn't get upstairs because the ladies and a few guys had sandals on. Not to mention that wearing camo is also a no no, how unamerican is that BS. Manager was useless.

Yelp
Stayed here for one night prior to going to a bachelorette and staying in an Airbnb for the rest of my stay and I did not want to leave. I was in a suite and had sooooo much space with a view of the pool. I would definitely come back and choose to stay for a weekend so I can experience the pool parties. The front desk, spa and valet staff were all great!!! One of my favorite W hotels for sure and great perks for Marriott bonvoy elite members!

Yelp
Beautiful space with beautiful people. On a cool night it would be nice up here but it was too hot when we were there. Great atmosphere with lots of seating outside by the pool if it's crowded inside. The servers are wearing ridiculous outfits, hose with basically a G string on top of them and high heeled boots, I suppose this is the way the world is now but it just seems unnecessary and felt like we were in a "gentlemen's club" in terms of what we were seeing/they were wearing. We only stayed 15 minutes so I can't review the drinks flavor, quality or value or the service of those drinks.

Jake W.

Yelp
Valet stole $900 out of my car. Spoke with the manager and he didn't want to do anything filed a police report. Never come here unless you want to be willing robbed.

Tim J.

Yelp
Come on W Scottsdale and Marriott Bonvoy - what an incredulous situation I find myself in. It's near midnight and I can only hope and pray am that the decimal-blaring club across the street, whose drumbeats are permeating the entire hotel, stop at midnight. It started at 8 pm. The club is across the street and isn't affiliated with your property. We have a large conference that starts at 7 in the morning and I'm going to assure that we begin the series of meetings voting to NEVER return to this location or any other Marriott property of this is how they are managed. I have tried white noise, tv, and have finally resorts to my uncomfortable in-ear speakers playing my own music playlists at full volume and yep. I still feel the walls shaking to the beat from the club. I can't imagine there are no noise ordinances and if not, why you would ever locate such a beautiful property here. This is the worst experience I've ever had at Marriott property and will immediately start focusing back on my Hilton Honors program over this Marriott nonsense. DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY unless for some odd reason, you don't like sleep ahead of a full day of meetings.

Yelp
This place is a vibrant vibe! Loved our stay here! Great music on weekends-overall fun, fun, fun! The check in process was smooth and Michael Green did a great job explaining what the property has to offer. Not only was Michael dressed like a million-he had a killer personality. Since our initial contact was with, Michael and due to his friendly, professional demeanor the stay started off all the better. He is an asset to this property and we look forward to our next stay here. Well located to shopping and great dining-I suggest staying here.

Yelp
The hotel is always one of my favorites although Friday night 11/3 , I stopped by the bar to grab some drinks and purchased a single shot of 1942. It was $75 for one shot, talk about over pricing. The bar tender (female) could have mentioned the over priced shot before pouring it.
google avatar

Yelp
I recently visited the W with some friends to grab drinks and hangout by the pool. While I didn't stay at the hotel/see the rooms, the lobby, pool area and bar area are gorgeous!!! Such a beautiful hotel!Upstairs by the pool gives clubby vibes- it's pretty dark with dim lighting, loud music and fun energy. I noticed a lot of the tables were reserved, so if you have a big group I'd say reservations are a must. Downstairs was more well-lit with much more available seating and live music. Each area attracts a certain crowd I would say. I definitely appreciated the variety! Overall, this is an awesome place to hangout and grab a drink. Hopefully someday soon I can give the hotel a try!

Yelp
I love this W! It's beautiful from the moment you walk in. In classic W fashion, it has great lightning, an amazing lobby bar, a massive pool (pool party on the weekends) and a great lounge. I had a suite facing the entertainment district, just a heads up ear plugs will not help you. It is loud on the weekends, like room shaking from the entertainment district, but you get e-mail's letting you know this in advance. Unless you are up until 2 am you will get noise on the weekend. You can always request a room in the other side if it bothers you. Luckily I live in a city so I'm use to sleeping through noise. This is great for people watching and walkable to fashion square and multiple eateries. It is hard to beat the location. They also have Sushi Roku on site, which is pretty solid. The pool party was about 70% Vegas pool party levels, looked like a lot of fun. It was nice to see people having fun. Mike was extremely friendly and welcoming. I would give it more stars if I could because of his flawless level of customer service. He is the example of perfect customer service. This will be the only hotel I stay at when I come back to Scottsdale. IG Tip: They have mirrors by the entrance with phrases on them.

Yelp
This review is solely for the "Wet deck." For my second time here, I had a fabulous time at the Wet Deck and the Living Room inside the W! The six of us experienced a fun, Vegas club style atmosphere with a glowing pool on the second floor. This place to people watch and be seen at! We met so many friendly visitors! All three bars were open to make it convenient for patrons to quench their thirst. The DJ was pretty loud in the covered area but we found it nice to have the option to wander by the pool area to get some conversation in. The perfect weather on the last Sat of March made it a beautiful evening for gazing at the night skies while lounging on the outdoor mattresses and comfy recliners. My out of town guests expressed how they'd come back here when in town again!

Yelp
While the ambiance of this place is luxurious and beautiful, my rating is solely based on my experience. I actually tried this spot twice in one weekend. The first time, my girlfriends and I went on a Friday. We could not get access to the upstairs as there was a "private pool party" and they were not letting people up unless you had pool attire so we settled for the downstairs bar. I asked one of the female bartenders if she had a recommendation for a "sweet" cocktail because that's how I like my drinks. She proceeds to tell me that if we were upstairs they definitely would have something for me but the bar downstairs had nothing to offer me. Now I have been to lots of establishments and have had bartenders be able to make me something sweet so I found it strange she couldn't think of anything to give me. Not sure if she was new or only has a handful of drinks memorized that she can do so I settled on a cranberry and vodka. Next day, I came back with a different group of friends around 12 of us. One of our male friends was refused entry to upstairs because he had on shorts. Keep in mind he had on khaki dress shorts and some loafers. We were then told that shorts were not allowed upstairs (let's not forget the fact that this AZ and outdoors) but pool shorts were acceptable. Someone please make it make sense. We all decided to leave and go elsewhere. Definitely not my type of establishment and I don't plan on coming back. Too many rules and restrictions for me. This might be the perfect spot for wanna be celebrities, influencers and/or trendsetters to put on social media but for actual fun, I'd go elsewhere!

Yelp
Both times I've been here I witnessed, security and waitresses being rude and racist to customers specially the lil short white guy who checks IDs inside, just for the way they were dressed and their skin color. Definitely a place where you get stereotyped . The music was bad , and they play the same music all night if u like good service in variety of music don't come here. I don't recommend it.

Yelp
I had a wonderful time here and a great experience. Tyler was SO great during check-in and really made the whole process go smoothly, even when I had technical difficulties getting into my room at first. I also want to thank Autumn at the Welcome Office for having the amenities ready in the room before I arrived. It really was a treat for me and my guests, so I very much appreciated that. This hotel has a great youthful vibe inside and it really feels like you're stepping out of Scottsdale into Las Vegas with the loud music and mood lighting ambiance. I'm pretty sure half the people I encountered upon entering were already pretty buzzed on a Saturday afternoon which was actually funny. The rooms are sufficient space for relaxing, and ours faced the pool which has more view/sound access (especially because the door to the room slides open) - there is no patio but you can lean over and check things out. It had an amazing sunset view as well. The glass shower and glass toilet stall were kind of weird because they had great acoustics but I don't really like the idea of the toilet echoing - and the shower had a weird image of a chick with a camera in the window but it was eclectic and kind of funny. The band performing on Saturday night, Steve Ayotte Music, was fun to watch and they actually played great music/did fun covers. Sydney the bartender in the downstairs lobby area was also super nice! Overall, I'd definitely characterize this as a lively party hotel and it really made my first stay in Arizona a good one, I would definitely return and stay at this hotel!

Yelp
My two friends and I recently booked a room for my friends 50th birthday at the W January 8-10 2025. The hotel is in a great location and came highly recommended to us. Upon checking in, we were upgraded to a suite, which was really nice. We went to the bar in the lobby after checking in and were promptly solicited by two prostitutes that were sitting at the bar. We were shocked that a "high end" hotel would allow prostitutes to linger in their establishment. Upon checking into our room, we noticed they had several bottles of alcohol on the table and after a night on the town, my friend opened the 1/5 of Jack Daniels and poured a drink. Upon checking out, we noticed that we charged $527 for the 1/5th of Jack, that sells for $26 at any liquor store (mind you this is a 2,000% mark up!). I called the hotel after I got home and was greeted by the most arrogent "customer service" staff I've ever encountered. Please know, I have Platinum Elite status with Marriott and have stayed in hundreds of high end hotels in my life, so this was not my first rodeo. The money I was charged for the Jack really was not the issue for me as much as it was the 2,000% mark-up. I was told their Style Department Manager "we've never had a guest complain about the price of the alcohol that is put in our rooms for our guests convenience". I find that hard to believe... I asked to speak with the GM regarding the matter and I've still yet to receive a call back and it's been over a week. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Valley Ho and not deal with the prostitute ridden beyond arrogent W Hotel in Scottsdale.

Yelp
Years ago this hotel was nice. Today it's full of rowdy partygoers chatting by the elevators at 3 in the morning. Located between the Entertainment District and Fashion Square, there is lots to do within walking distance of the hotel and plenty of action at all hours of the day and night. The hotel is pretty and has a great lounge bar as you enter the hotel called the Living Room. Decorated with eclectic tables and chairs and lit by colorful LED lights, the vibe is great here but the service is lackluster. The guest rooms are clean, yet very small. Our view was decent but the windows were in the corner so not lots of natural light. Upon arrival, our sink was clogged and started retaining standing water (with soap scum) since the modern sinks are so shallow. The phone also did not work. We were right next to the elevator bank and were awakened at 3 am by people loudly continuing their party near the elevators. After talking to the manager on the second night, we were able to move rooms for the third night (booked solid the evening before) and room 306 was much quieter than room 320. Room 306 also had a nice view of Shade Lounge and the pool area but it would be much cooler if the windows were bigger on this floor. The (second floor) grounds are really pretty and the lounge bar by the pool is always hopping. The pool is cool and there are tons of security guys running around (if you like that sort of thing). Overall, the hotel is nice, but the crowd it attracts seems to be looking for a party pad rather than an upscale hotel.

Yelp
Definately one of my favorite places to be when I visit scottsdale. My son went to ASU so I been traveling to AZ for a minute, I have tried many of the hotels in Tempe, Mesa, DT Phoenix but scottsdale is my ATF. Since now Im going on a monthly basis and a marriot ambassador before you stay they send you a welcome letter that gives you all the deets on the vibe its mostly an adult only hotel, which is great for those that want to vibe without crying babies around especially your owl lol! From the monent you walk in staff is super friendly and helpful, you kind of get a vegas chill lounge experience at the front desk. I have a membership at the away spa which i highly recommend if you are local the staff in there absolutely make you feel pampered, jessica is amazing and the massueses are all highly talented. I recommed Eric, for those that need strong hands. Food is awesome and friday thru sat they have the wet deck pool party with DJ again vibe is like a more classier vegas pool party chill and the locals are all welcoming, i went with my son and bf and we quickly made friends and had a blast!

Yelp
As I was planning my bachelorette party in Scottsdale over the summer, I researched and found the W Scottsdale's pool was the only one still open for daytime pool parties in October 2022. When I called to get info in August 2022, the very kind and young-sounding girl at the front desk gave me the info for their VIP reservations or she said, since it can be quite expensive even on a Friday afternoon, we could instead pay a small $10-$15 cover charge and get regular loungers. She said to make sure we arrive early because the loungers go quickly, so that's what we did. When we arrived on Friday, Oct. 7th, we were immediately hassled for what we were wearing. Most hotel pools want you to wear resort wear and cover up slightly before you get to the actual pool area, but the bouncer at the W made my future sister-in-law LIFT HER SHIRT to prove she was wearing a bikini?! That should've been our first red flag. A promo guy & some manager (maybe from the hotel or the promo company) then proceeded to tell us that we could reserve a table for $1500 minimum or pay $100pp cover. I don't understand why anyone would want to turn away 10+ paying customers, all women, for what sounded like a pretty slow day at the pool from what we could hear. I'm sure the servers would've appreciated our business, but the hotel did not, so we left. I tried to explain what I was told about the cover over the phone, but they wouldn't have it. Their loss, but definitely a warning for anyone who wants to enjoy a Scottsdale pool party. You're better off renting an Airbnb and hosting your own!!!!

Yelp
This place is a rip off! If you use your card here watch out for additional tips added by the staff. I bought a drink and order with my card and left a 20% cash tip. The bartender decided to also add an additional 20% tip on my card. WTF!!!! I called the manager Jordan to complain about this practice - the amount is irrelevant but that practice is BS!! - and he didn't give a crap. They're lame accuse is that the bar is run by another company, which btw is owned by the same people, and it's their problem. Terrible practice EVEN WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE and I guess they so popular the don't give a crap. SCREW THIS PLACE!!!!! Never stay or spend here again. They are thieves and don't give a crap about how they're employees screw people.

Yelp
Stereotyped This place would not let 3 girls and 2 husbands in! They claimed too intoxicated but here I am writing this review. And...not to say we don't have $$$. CFO and CFO husbands, SVP, and business owner, but not dressed in suits. Truly just wanted to go for a drink...two females were let to go in...men, Nope! I just dislike this Scottsdale mentality. Amazing how 5 girls, 20 something year olds that cannot afford a drink go to walk in before us...

Yelp
Wow!! We finally got the experience we have come to expect from the W. Ms. Laura Jarvinen invited us to return and enjoy a visit to the W in Scottsdale and it sure did meet and exceed my expectations. The hotel had a renewed energy and some awesome experiences. We are so glad we gave it a second chance. We decided to visit again in August . But this time we got the coolest room in town. Temperature was perfection our entire stay. Pool scene was jumpin! We reserved a table at Cottontail Lounge and received excellent service. The breakfast burrito and potatoes through room service were still amazing. Live music at the Living Room lounge was busy all weekend and bartenders as attentive as ever. Check in and out was smooth. We also were treated to complimentary coffee bar in the lobby one day and alcoholic root beer floats another day. Thanks for a great little getaway, W! Suggestion: Cottontail offers breakfast but not until 10am. I'd suggest an earlier time frame. Hard to grab a bite to eat when you've crawled out of bed after an all nighter and desperately need coffee and some sustenance.

Yelp
So unfortunately I will never stay at this hotel for the pure fact that they breed a culture of rude, stand offish employees, people that have no regard for customer service. I arrived at 5:30pm to join my friends table upstairs and because I never confirmed which friend they put the table Rez under I was refused entry. Just kept repeating that I just needed the table name to go up. I showed the gentleman the text showing that my friends were upstairs, with my bathing suit, and table. He refused to walk me upstairs so I could verify the information. The manager Clarence did not want to help or accommodate in any way and kept repeating that this is a hotel first...it sure doesn't seem like you belong in customer service.

Yelp
I use the Valet here quite often, never had any issues until this past weekend 1. Seems your valet is stealing from peoples cars

Yelp
When a close friend of mine told me that he was planning a Bachelor party, I automatically assumed that I would have to prep myself for a wild celebration in Vegas. However, I was completely shocked when he told me that it would be in Scottsdale. Other than extreme heat and golf, I knew absolutely nothing about Scottsdale. Therefore, I was ecstatic to finally have an excuse to travel to Arizona. My friend booked rooms for a majority of our seven people "entourage"; therefore, we wouldn't have to worry about coordinating meet up areas. After a smooth flight into Phoenix's Sky Harbor International Airport, I caught a Lyft from the airport to the hotel (20 minutes). Before I had a chance to pull my luggage out of the Lyft driver's car, I was warmly greeted by an employee working the valet area. Upon entering the beautiful lobby, I noticed a gorgeous bar area, a gift shop, and a small area with fruit-infused water and fresh green apples (both would come in handy while stumbling in after a hot night of drinking at the local bars). When I entered the room I was greeted by large windows and an overall clean layout. The large windows not only provided a nice of Scottsdale's hub of bars, but it also made the room feel spacious and "open." When it was time to head out to enjoy the Old Town Scottsdale nightlife, we literally crossed the street and we were in the heart of the party scene. After a fun night of partying, we headed back to the hotel. While walking through the lobby we were greeted by an employee at the customer service desk. She welcomed us back and even inquired about one of our friends who got lost in the fun (talk about paying attention to detail)! The next day we caught the free hotel shuttle to a local brunch restaurant. After finishing our brunch we called for the shuttle and they picked us up within 10 ten minutes....talk about great customer service! Although my friends and I did not spend much time in the hotel/room (we also did not experience the WET rooftop pool/lounge), we had no complaints for our three days & two nights spent at the W Scottsdale. For future celebrations, we will make the W Scottsdale our unofficial home!

Yelp
Pros: -Excellent hospitality. Every time we walked by an employee we were warmly greeted. There were always cold water bottles on deck. The hotel has a shuttle and they'll happily take you to local spots around town that are too far of a walk. -Location can't be beat. The W is smack in the middle of downtown Scottsdale, right on Whiskey Row and walkable to a ton of bars + restaurants + shops. -You don't even need to leave the hotel! During our short 3 night stay there was so much going on. Pool parties with DJs by day (they also had a tv projector in the pool for March Madness - woooah). Live music in the lobby on Friday and Saturday night. There was even a fashion show happening for Scottsdale Fashion week on the pool deck and hotel guests had free access! -Speaking of the pool, it's popping. This wasn't always a good thing, but it was really nice to have such a large and beautiful pool at the hotel. Gotta beat that AZ heat. Cons: -The room. Rooms at the W are always a little questionable. It's definitely a very (ahem) different aesthetic than a standard hotel room. There is no separation between the bathroom and the room, so our bed was awkwardly right next to the shower / sink. A lot of lighting came in through the shower early in the morning and woke us up. There was no way to curtain that off which was frustrating. The bed was also very low to the ground and not the comfiest. -Drink + food prices at the pool are steep. I guess it comes with the territory of staying at a pool that doubles as a club. This is probably not practical, but it would be nice if there were certain specials for guests to take advantage of. Think $17 dollar cocktails, $75 dollar bottles of rose. -The pool has a special sectioned off area for 'hotel guests' but it's really not mandated by any staff. It's kind of a free for all. Luckily we were able to snag a spot after searching around for a bit. If I hadn't, I would have been really upset. It's frustrating to think that you could pay so much to stay but aren't guaranteed a spot. -If you want peace and quiet do not stay here. My husband and I were literally the only couple hanging out at the pool. It was mainly large groups of gals or guys (bachelorette parties). I don't hate the scene, but looking back it probably wasn't the right fit for a baecation. Overall -- this hotel checks off most boxes and it was an enjoyable experience. The pros certainly outweigh the cons, and I wouldn't object to staying here again.

Yelp
We were a bachelorette party of 14 that accidentally got split into 2 groups. We were all online together to get in but one girl forgot her ID (she was 37 years old). So one group went up to the rooftop and the other group stayed outside until we got the ID. Once she returned with her ID the second half of the group tried to get in and the doormen refused to let them in. They said in the 15 mins since the first group went up, they are no longer letting the public upstairs and it's hotel guests only. We were shocked. We understood the policy however we were just here as one group waiting for one more girl to get her ID! These men knew our bachelorette group got split up and didn't care. We begged them to let the rest of the group come as we were preparing to spend time on the rooftop and drink and spend a ton of money (I mean who doesn't want 14 girls in their bar?) Also, the inside was completely dead!! There was no one at the bar because it was 9pm at this point!! They refused to reunite us so we all left. At one point they said "well if you want to change it to a table reservation, then I can let you all in". This is SHADY behavior looking to capitalize on us being split. This will be one of many 1 star reviews from a group of girls that just wanted to be reunited.

Yelp
Not worth the time or the money just move on. Way too many complaints heard from those staying had me weary to stay. I was planning something big for Hubby but not here. I'm all about customer service and what I seen others going through made me change my plans. Much training needed here. Customer service as well

Yelp
Stay'd here and book through Expedia, asked if I check out early and have to pay for those nights and was informed no. Then I ended up leaving 2 days early asked as I checked out they said I have to do it through your 3rd party. Called them they said no problem just needed approval from hotel. Called hotel and got approval and then after was told they didn't approve. Got a bed by the pool for $1000 min, didn't hit the min, yet they started me a different tab for $300 so ended up signing for $1300 and gave $260 tip, plus $100 to the towel guy and then on my statement I see the charge for $1480. STAY FAR AWAY !!!!

Yelp
As I explained to a manager, Bryce, Michael is what we need more need more in our lives" I had one of the worst days of my life, a friend had passed in the midst of a popular holiday which was supposed to be surrounded by friends. Not meaning to share the news so publicly l, I tried to keep composure on check in, yes friends that were staying at The W showed up unannounced and I lost it. Michael made things as perfect ad he could be, allowed me to cry while hugging friends, and letting me dump news on a host that isn't the 'norm'. Michael is a perfect soul, allowing others to feel emotions in such a difficult time. I cannot thank him enough (I'm checking out before him comes to work according to Bryce) Thank you Michael - the true MVP
