W Sydney (Sydney, New South Wales) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Only marginally less recognizable than Sydney’s opera house, the W Sydney stands like a rounded shark fin above Darling Harbour — a piece of architecture that lives up to W’s reputation as a visually adventurous hospitality concern. The interiors are colorful even by W standards, and this hotel succeeds where others fail at capturing the brand’s sense of retro-tinged futurism. The unusual form of the structure dictates some unusual choices, including unexpected curves in the room layouts. Btwn, the restaurant, is named for the hotel’s unusual position between two elevated motorways; the top-floor infinity pool takes in one of Sydney’s most dramatic views." - Tablet Hotels

We chose the W Hotel Darling Harbour to celebrate our wedding anniversary and our first time doing so with our children. While the hotel is modern, clean, and well-equipped, the overall experience felt underwhelming for a five-star property. Despite calling ahead to inform the hotel that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, there was no acknowledgment upon arrival. The check-in experience felt impersonal and more akin to a budget hotel, which was disappointing given the brand and price point. The room itself was comfortable and had complete amenities. Highlights included a spacious walk-in wardrobe and a beautiful bathtub, which our kids especially enjoyed. We had high hopes that the $60 buffet breakfast would elevate the experience, but unfortunately it was average. Some hot items, including the baked beans and sausages, were served cold and undercooked. Positives were the eggs cooked to order, decent coffee, and friendly breakfast service. Overall, the stay did not meet our expectations. Having stayed at several 4–5 star hotels, we felt the experience did not offer good value, particularly for families. We would likely choose alternatives such as Crown Towers in the future. Each to their own, but this property would not be our first choice.

We recently celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary in W Sydney and we had an absolutely beautiful time. We came in early for check in and was warmly welcomed by Shivank who was extremely friendly and even gave us a complimentary drink when he learned we were celebrating our anniversary as well as a late check out. Despite the busy time , check in was smooth and not very long. Shivank politely explained that the room was not ready yet, which was quite understandable, and offered to send us a message when ready. The concierge was also friendly and offered to take our luggage to the room since we were going to see a movie while waiting. Afterwards, the lovely lady in the Living Room where we had our drinks was also great in providing good customer service, offering us the best seats and made sure it was clean. Keep up the good work guys! Thank you for making our stay a wonderful one.We truly appreciate the effort that you provided for us.

The Darling Harbour rooms have great views, the beds are comfortable and the large bathrooms are a plus. However, the rooms are the property are showing signs of dating which is disappointing considering it's only been open for a few years. The water in the sink took ages to drain and just felt a bit gross all the water just sitting there waiting to drain. It’s amazing that these things in major hotels are monitored and fixed. The rooms are so small compared to images online and the carpet didn't feel super clean. The property lifts take forever and are always super crowded. Check in process is a bit budget rather than premium. Also to note, when we entered the room, the blackout curtains were closed? This is weird, ideally when guests enter, the see a bright room and experience the view, having the blackout curtains closed really takes away the experience of entering the room. Service is efficient. Valet parking attendants were helpful but it takes over 15mins for the car to arrive. Overall disappointing experience. The hotel is priced at a premium rate however it's property and rooms are more mid. It's almost like it's not equiped to deal with all guests when at capacity. It's probably a good hotel for younger crowd that want to showcase everything on their socials

W Hotel Sydney needs more people like Keena, the Food & Beverage Coordinator. Guest relations overall were fairly average, but Keena is truly next level. We got to know her a little better and learned she’s from Thailand — and it shows. That genuine hospitality is clearly in her DNA. For a moment, she made us feel like we were staying at a luxury resort in Thailand. She made us feel special, which is something you naturally expect when you spend a significant amount of money on a New Year’s Eve stay. The hotel rooms themselves are amazing. However, the pool and most restaurants are quite average, with the exception of the main restaurant. Breakfast was excellent, and the à la carte dinner menu is very reasonably priced with genuinely delicious food. Housekeeping, unfortunately, needs improvement. It was extremely average, especially in the common areas. That said, the rooms themselves were clean and we had no complaints there. Overall, a beautiful hotel elevated significantly by standout staff like Keena.

Amazing experience at the AWAY SPA! My son booked me a 90’ de-stress massage as a Christmas present, which also included access to the spa facilities and the infinity pool. Britney at the spa reception and massage therapist Yukari were so professional, kind and accommodating! Can’t wait to go back with my husband for the couples’ massage. The spa has a relaxation area and I went to the steam room, sauna and experience shower. Afterwards, the infinity pool on level 29 with views over Darling Harbour and which feels like a small version of the one at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore :))

Exceptional Hospitality and Warmth My experience at the W Sydney was made truly special thanks to Shivank at the check-in desk. From the moment I arrived, he greeted me with genuine warmth, professionalism, and an incredible attention to detail. He went above and beyond to ensure I felt comfortable and well taken care of. His kindness and positive energy truly set the tone for my stay. Service like this makes a real difference, and Shivank is a wonderful representative of the W brand. Highly recommended!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had an amazing stay at W Hotel. The customer service was spectacular, especially from the reception staff—Moses, who went above and beyond to help us. He even gave us extra support and a lovely compliment, which made my birthday feel truly special. The room was elegant and the view was absolutely stunning. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I stayed with my girlfriend, and she loved everything as well. We will definitely come back to celebrate another special occasion together.

Great room and very modern, good food and bars, but the amount of families with young kids was a major negative and probably wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re bringing kids here. Every day the rooftop pool was full of little kids learning to swim. The hotel tries to give a vibe of young and with the amount of spaces to drink and house music playing but with prams everywhere it’s not the reality. There was even a baby in the gym. Nuts.
