Amazing place staff are super friendly and respectful. Food is fabulous. Little bit pricy but I definitely think it’s worth spending that bit extra just cause of how delicious the food is. You get to see all your meals prepared in front of you. Really cool experience if you want to experience Japan in Galway.

A really lovely meal from a friendly spot! We heard about this restaurant on tiktok of all places, and decided to check it out. The food was wonderful, especially the sushi itself. Do make sure you order the nigiri as I think that's their superpower, it's stunning! They also do sake tasting, which was excellent. There's occasional events (one coming up on the 21st of October 2025) where they do sake and food pairings, too. I removed one star for service as the tea we ordered was sold as decaf, but in fact was caffeinated. Otherwise, a stellar meal! We will be back!

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner. It was amazing 10/10 I could not recommend more. We sat at the sushi bar and got to watch the chef make the sushi. She was so kind and friendly. We were lucky enough to go on a not busy night so we have some lovely conversations with her. All of the sushi was fantastic everything tasted so fresh. The atmosphere was adorable. Definitely come here

Google
Just the best Japanese restaurant in Galway. Food is simply incredible, the quality of the fish is just remarkable, and melts in you mouth (as well as being locally sourced and traditionally prepared) The management were so good to me in organizing a table for my birthday and the service was beyond expectations. I come here every year for my birthday and I am always blown away. Thank you so much! Beth

We had dinner on the 20th of june at this wonderful restaurant. First of all, the chef took us in even if he was about to close (still sorry for that). We had the small sushi plater to share and oysters as an extra, which were perfectly balanced between acidity, freshness and spicyness. During the whole dinner, we had wonderful conversations with the chef, which really showed us his commitment to Japanese traditions. The nigiri were out of this world (especially the torched salmon belly). His technique was on point and the fact it is a sushi bar really showed us the skills of his sleight of hand. Our only regret was that we were only in Galway as tourist and won’t be able to come back until a long time!!!!

Patty was the most incredible sushi chef that I have ever seen! I eat a lot of sushi. OMG ordinarily I do not do dessert but his Sake infused, deconstructed cheese cake was delicious AND beautiful. I wish that he had a transporter so I could just pop in whenever I wanted.

“Ireland’s Finest Sushi Experience — Wa Sushi Galway Sets the Gold Standard for Japanese Cuisine” Wa Sushi in Galway is an absolute gem — hands down the best sushi and sashimi experience in Ireland. The quality of the fish is exceptional, always fresh, delicate, and beautifully presented with true Japanese precision. Every dish feels like a work of art, showcasing the chef’s passion and mastery. The service is consistently excellent — warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without ever being intrusive. Whether for a casual dinner or a special occasion, Wa Sushi delivers a flawless dining experience every time. A must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Japanese cuisine.

After a long day walking around Island Inisheer we needed food close to the coach drop off point and we lucked out finding this spot. The service was wonderful, the food delicious and filling. The small sharing platter was still huge and had some sushi types I had never tried before and would definitely have again. We also had their Sake tasting which were wonderful to sip on whilst we ate. Thank you to the staff for being so friendly!

Yelp
Really wanted to like the food..... They were super nice. Small space with only a few tables. The agedashi tofu had lots of small cubes of tofu. The broth was good but the tofu was very firm. I prefer softer tofu for agedashi tofu. The salmon katsu was pretty good but had a very large ratio of rice to the other ingredients. The miso soup wasn't bad but tasted more like seaweed soup rather than miso soup. The sushi platter was a lot of sushi. Came out with salmon, tuna, mackerel, and shrimp ngiri, sushi maki, and veggie maki. The sushi was pretty average.

Yelp
Craving sushi and spotting this restaurant after a few times walking by, I eventually stopped in. It's a small restaurant with a few tables and a sushi bar top. I sat at the bar and was given a menu. Trying to not overdue it after a couple weeks of traveling, I ordered a salmon roll and tuna roll, both for 11.80 euros. Pretty cheap for this San Francisco Bay Area native. It arrived on a beautiful plate and the sushi was simple and fresh. I enjoyed my experience and the staff was sweet and friendly. I would go back, especially at these prices! Review #67 of 100 in 2023.

Yelp
Not great for sushi. Did not taste particularly fresh. However the tempura was amazing. Really tasty kara age chicken too. To be fair, it's very cheap and cheerful with 5 pieces of sushi costing less than €4. Staff are welcoming and attentive. Grand if you want to quell a craving. Will still leave you wanting the real sushi deal though...

Yelp
Very nice Japanese food and drink. Some nice selection of Japenese teas and bento sets as well. A nice little Japanese cafe this down near the docks area of Galway city to chill out in any time of year when you are in that area.

Yelp
Purchased a €30 platter for 2 people earlier. To be honest, we dumped 80% of it and ordered a pizza afterwards. The staff were not helpful or informative at all and the sushi did not seem fresh in both taste and looks. The sushi boxes you can buy in Tesco actually tasted better.

Yelp
Really friendly and efficient staff. My sushi craving was definitely satisfied after enjoying the calamari maki and also organic Salmon maki. Sushi ginger isn't great though.
