Google
I was visiting Palm Springs and found this shop downtown. They have an incredible selection of Japanese kitchen wear and knives. The two gentlemen working there were very helpful and knowledgeable. I saw a Shun knife that I really liked and was able to try it out and loved it, but couldn't take it on my carry on luggage. They offered to ship it to me a no charge so I couldn't resist. If you are ever in Palm Springs you should definitely stop by this wonderful store.

Google
Very cool store with fun and friendly owners Darrell and Osamu. I bought some beautiful plates for using and some for decoration and gifts. When I go back to Palm Springs I want to go back and buy a set of the knives they have. Super sharp and really high grade steel. Also tried and purchased several different sakes. Got a good buzz going LOL. I forgot how much I love sake, and there are so many varieties for different occasions. Thanks, Guys!!

Google
The amazing owners have created an amazing place! The store has wonderful unique pieces. The knives available here are fantastic for cooking! Plus, they offer classes for various topics. We took the Sushi 101 class last night, it was fantastic. They make it fun and easy to understand! Great people...great place!

Google
Darrell and Mark were so nice and a little window shopping for me turned out to be purchases my husband made for himself. So many cool Japanese items in the store including knives and foods. We will be back!

Google
We stop here every time we are in town! So friendly you can sample things and the prices are so good and you get all the help you need!

Google
Awesome store, helpful owner and staff, great prices! I loaded up two days in a row.

Google
We love this store and always make sure to shop there when we are in PS. Sam and Darryl are friendly and knowledgeable about their products and always happy to share a recipe. Be sure to attend a saki tasting and don’t miss out on their monthly food classes (sign up for emails for info) . Tempted by the kitchenware but no room in your suitcase? Don’t worry, they offer shipping too! This store is considered a “don’t miss” by both locals and frequent visitors to Palm Springs, so put it on your “places to go” list right now!

Having lived in Japan for few years I was very excited when I learned about this store. I was somewhat disappointed when I visited though. I did not expect the level of customer service that you see in Japan but I did at least expect a welocme to the shop, or even the acknowledgement of my or my wife's presence after spending 10 minutes or so browsing. During this time the owner seemed much more focused on selling a knife to the only other two people in the store. Perhaps we did not look like the "kind" of people he considered to be viable patrons. overall they have some nice homewares. The bulk of these being plates, chopstick and knives that you can find in most shops in the Tokyo or Osako resturant supply districts.

Yelp
Enjoyed our visit to Wabi Sabi. We bought a few things and returned to make another purchase. The owner and staff were very kind and helpful. Loved selection of items. Would definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
It's cool that they offer sake flights. In terms of their home goods, I was a bit disappointed with their selection. Also when it came to cutlery, the only Japanese brand they had was Shun. The store also smelled like an old diaper so u rushed out I would have given it 2 stars but thought the sake flight was cool

Yelp
This is an awesome little shop with authentic Japan kitchenware and goodies. All the ceramics are made in Japan and you can tell by the craftsmanship of the many ramen bowls they have. There are also various sizes for ramen bowls as well as other matching dishes for soy sauces, chopsticks, plates, etc. They have Japanese snacks, whiskey, canned cocktails, cool looking graphic tees and Japanese knife sets as well! My fiancé and are are in town for our "mini moon" and going to Japan at the end of the year but this spot saved us some souvenir room in our luggages :-)

Yelp
The "new" store, location, is amazing! Very authentic Japanese kitchenware and stuffs....My favorite is their knives section! Yes, it is a destination by it self, just for the the knives. Yes I'm serious. If you are serious in your kitchen, do visit Wabi Sabi, while in Palm Springs....Love this store!!

Yelp
Customer service was exceptional!! Owner was friendly and very helpful ! The only thing missing is they don't serve food . This place would be a gold mine if they served sushi ( they need to connect with a local restaurant and serve just lunch ! - just saying ) Definately going back to purchase more items .
google avatar

Yelp
This is probably the only store within 100 miles where you can find authentic Japanese merchandise. It's very well laid out and they have sake in the refrigerator waiting for you to come and taste it! The owners are very knowledgeable and helpful. They have beautiful tea sets and plates and bowls, etc! I highly recommend coming in here and checking everything out!
google avatar

Yelp
It's a beautiful store and worth taking a peak into if you're in downtown PS. The owners are highly conversational, knowledgeable and friendly. I went in to get new ramen bowls and the selection here did not disappoint. Would recommend and I will be back because of the array of speciality items they carry.

Mark J.

Yelp
Awesome store, bought my first Japanese chef knife here. The selection and quality was amazing, highly highly recommend. The staff were very patient while I made my selection and knowledgeable about the product. Look forward to my next visit.

Yelp
Darrel and Sam are the two most wonderful owners of this unique shop! The store was clean, perfectly organized and hosted Japanese treasures and ceramic goods that were a delight to look at! The owners were more than helpful, and took time to answer our questions and educate us about some of the culture, customs and products as it relates to their functions. With very fair and reasonable pricing I was able to get unique gifts for my family. They were also dog friendly which was a huge plus! We will be retuning every time we come to Palm Springs!

Yelp
Such a random gem in Palm Springs! My husband & I went to Palm Springs for a mini getaway & we were very unimpressed with the shopping in PS. Yeah there's the typical tourist I heart Palm Springs t shirt & shot glasses. Your typical big box stores. What caught both of our attention was this place ! Both of us have been to Japan numerous times & I am in love with Japanese ceramics ! The shop is very small but laid out very nicely ! You can see & pick up all the ceramics which I greatly appreciate. I dislike it when something you buy is locked in a glass cage & you have to ask to see the items. There was so much nice ceramics I have not seen else where ! Believe me, I have not seen the merchandise sold here at Mitsuwa or Tokyo Central. Nope. I ended up getting two small dishes, double walled glass mugs & incense. I gotta say the staff was an angel while we were there. My husband was reaching for an item on a shelf & broke a cup lid. We both were prepared for the staff to say you break you buy ! But he did not make us pay & was very nice about it. If I'm ever in the area I'd stop by again, very unique items you can't find elsewhere, unless you're in Japan.

Mohadessa M.

Yelp
terrible and rude male employee working here. i was looking to purchase a few items and my mom was with me and she got a text message and the employee got extremely rude and told her if she wants to check she can go do that outside. ??? like are people not allowed to check their clothes honestly in your store? definitely not coming back. so unwelcoming and racist

Melissa P.

Yelp
Great place and wonderful owners. I like to shop locally to support the community. This is my go to spot for gifts.

Yelp
We are fans of all things Japanese, so dropping by now and then is a no-brainer. What makes the place stand out is the owners: cheerful, knowledgeable, and always ready to chat. Especially want to say that for Christmas shopping it can't be beat. Wonderful, beautiful things in all price ranges. Bowls, tea sets, Japanese groceries...you don't have to know what you're looking for to find something perfect for anyone.

Yelp
Sometimes, when you walk into a great shop... a shop of "curiosities"... you can feel like a complete ignorant oaf. For many years I have seen this shop and it was located in a different part of downtown palm springs until it relocated to a fantastic well displayed corner on main street... (palm canyon). I'm not sure what I was expecting but I think I was musing that it would be a shop full of trinkets.. none of which I would need or want. Even with my exposure to asian cultures both abroad and here in the US.. I was truly unprepared for how fantastic of a shop Wabi Sabi is. The variety of items, all of which are very useful for most people to use in the kitchen and also for entertaining others was truly astonishing. The owners, I met both, are a couple that are very well known in the Palm Springs community and of course in other cities in California & New York. They both have "claims to fame" in their own right as they both have had very successful businesses together, separately and before they decided to open this shop. I found their stories to be extremely interesting and I enjoyed every single minute. Here's the thing.. I really wasn't planning on buying anything.. but I ended up doing a Saki tasting and buying an exquisite bottle of top shelf Saki. Also... I purchased a few other things that I was needing for my tea ritual in the AM. Do not hesitate to give this shop a whirl as you navigate the fabulous downtown Palm Springs shopping arena.

Yelp
We used to live in Japan and were looking forward to shopping here.Unfortunately they do not acknowledge customers and we had to leave after being ignored for so long. (only one couple in there besides us). it was all overpriced anyways and we will have to continue to do our japanese shopping in San Diego where there is a larger selection and better customer service Palm Springs needs a better Japanese retailer!
google avatar

Jacqueline S.

Yelp
The store showcases the beauty of Japanese design and craftsmanship. There is a beautiful selection of ceramics: plates, pots, dinnerware and more. It's displayed so that you can mix and match or discover the design, color and texture you love. If the store ended there... it would be a wonderful visit... but wait there's more! Japanese knives, textiles & towels, cups, more kitchen ware. Each category has a utility selection, + something unique, maybe a whimsical gadget or and elegant tool as well. Design as art, it's lovely. You'll enjoy shopping here, the stores shelves are full but not overwhelming and not cluttered. Knowledgeable owners/ Staff answer questions and aficionados are browsing too.

Yelp
Wabi- Sabi offers a great selection of food items and household wares from Japan. The owners make a special effort to carry merchandise that is not regularly available elsewhere in the Coachella Valley. They are friendly and knowledgeable. I will always make it a point to stop here on my visits to Palm Springs.

Nick R.

Yelp
So many wonderful things available. Excellent dishes & knives and a great selection of sake.

Yelp
Great selection of Japanese knives along with the housewares. Darrell knows a lot about knives and shares his information happily.

Yelp
Me and my friend Carole went to Palm Springs to visit friends and on our way to lunch at Bongo Johnny's we discovered this Great Little Japanese shop. I was worried they would be closed after our late lunch/dinner and sure enough as we arrived at the shop after our meal they were just closing. Thankfully the owners Darrell & Osama were nice enough to let us into the shop to look around and we purchased some tableware for our traditional Sushi Friday place settings! I've been to Japan many times and I love this shop and the shop keepers are a lovely couple and really made us feel welcomed. I love this place!!! (Oh did I tell you I love this shop?)

Ella T.

Yelp
Very friendly, phenomenal selection of goods. Very knowledgeable about the products and carries stuff you wouldn't find elsewhere. Gave us great recommendations on what to do while we were in town.

Don B.

Yelp
Every time we visit Palm Springs, a stop at Wabi Sabi Japan Living is a must! We've been fortunate to not only enjoy finding unique items for our home but many gifts for family and friends. One should never leave without sake as the large selection has something for everyone's taste. I've also have enjoyed on occasion, attending the cooking demonstrations that are provided after store closing. We can't wait to see what's available during our next visit to Wabi Sabi Japan Living in Palm Springs. Thanks you both for having such a great store.

Yelp
So much cool Japanese Merchandise from a personable proprietor who know his wares. Lots of Dishes, glasses, textiles, bowls, spoons, fun and serious chopsticks, gifts, sakes, fancy Shun knives beautifully presented in this downtown PSP storefront. If you like Japanese, don't miss out!

Yelp
Love this shop! I have been wanting to stop in and was so happy when I finally did. Very fairly priced dinner and cook wares from Japan, so many options. This is an excellent store for buying gifts.

B A.

Yelp
Amazing. This store is totally unique in the desert. The housewares are things that no one else stocks, and the selection of specialty food and alcohol items is just right. Great local small business with a personal connection to Japanese culture, customs, and goods. Definitely a great asset here.
google avatar

Yelp
Kind of reminds me of the shops in Kappabashi, Tokyo. This store features lots of ceramics, kitchen sundries, all kinds of little bowls, saki sets, and knives. They have some fun kitchy stuff too for your Palm Springs kitchen. There are cold drinks in the refrigerators at the back of the shop. Park on the street. Recommend.
google avatar

Emi L.

Yelp
Very cute store! Run by Japanese folk, and has a lot of specialty items. A cool place to browse goods and spend an afternoon shopping.

Mitch K.

Yelp
I was working out of the Country and came home for Christmas. My wife knows I love to cook and I was surprised with several items from Wabi Sabi. We visit the store often and try to participate in their frequent cooking classes. Way too much fun! Daryl and Sam know this business and have everything from tableware to cooking ingredients to get you cooking! These guys are always fun and very knowledgeable. They travel to Japan about twice a year and always find new items and recipes to bring back and share. You will have an amazing time in this store! Many thanks Guys!

Yelp
Great new addition to Palm Springs. Wabi Sabi is a Japanese home store that carries lovely ceramics, sakes, some clothing and books. All very Japanese. I found some ceramic dishes and sake glasses at very reasonable prices. Apparently on Saturday afternoons, there is some kind of interactive event at the store when the owners are in town (and not in Japan seeking more product). Sake tastings, demos - I look forward to catching some of those on my next visit.
google avatar

Yelp
What a delightful surprise to find this shop filled with Japanese treasures! Many items are from Japan that you don't find elsewhere, especially dish ware. And the prices are extremely reasonable! We were so pleased to finally find beautiful soy sauce dispensers that we've never seen before, along with fancy gorgeous rice bowls that are so well made. So funny that we've not seen anything like this in SF Japantown but run across it vacationing in Palm Springs. If you like Japanese kitchenware, this is a must visit!!!

Yelp
Wabi Sabi is a cultural gem in the heart of Palm Springs. An absolute must see/explore/shop. You will find unique treasures in this charming store hand picked by the owners Darrell and Osamu. You'll find Shun knives, pottery, jewelry, cookware, sake, an enormous selection of chopsticks and so much more. My visit to Wabi Sabi today was for a private Sushi making class for a local meet-up group. What a blast!!! We arranged to have the event in-store but they also offer in-home Sushi parties as well. It was a 2 hour class which included Sushi making instruction plus a flight of sake and Japanese beer. The cost of this super fun and informative class was very affordable and an excellent value. Darrell and Sam are fantastic hosts and instructors. We received a wonderful education on Sushi making, sake and Japanese culture. And then we dined on our delicious creations!! Overall an excellent experience made even more wonderful by the passion of Darrell and Osamu.

Yelp
I feel exploited. Came here with my husband and had a wonderful time. My husband bought a 'yukata' which he LOVES. It gets softer with each wash. We were offered a shot of sake which was great but when I checked my receipt we were charged! If your going to OFFER sake then it's free, if you're going to charge it is a customers RIGHT to know they are being charged. Not cool. Also recently found the exact yukata I bought for $99 at the store on amazon for $39......I've been ripped off and exploited. Not a good way to create repeat business. I was going to go back but in light of my experience, will not.

Yelp
What a wonderful gem to stumble upon in Palm Springs. Tokoko was so helpful and kind enough to give me a little education on tinctures, bitters and other culinary delights. As a pastry chef I am always looking for new flavors combinations to test in my baked items. Looking forward to visiting and shopping when I am back in town.

Yelp
What a cool Japanese store! Darrel, the owner was so friendly & also a San Diego native like us! There are cool things like Japanese-style dishes & plates, snacks, stationary, & teapots. We ended up buying brown bowls for our home. This place is nicely priced too & definitely affordable. Cool place to stop by in Palm Springs for Japanese goodies.

Lance C.

Yelp
This place is very beautiful inside, the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about Japanese culture. They also have a great selection of Japanese alcohol I love this store and will definitely come back next time I visit Palm Springs

Nom D.

Yelp
I don't even know where to begin! I wanted everything in this beautiful store! And I walked away with a surprising amount because the prices are EXCELLENT. No need to surreptitiously check Amazon to compare prices, the ones at Wabi Sabi are lower. Also, there are lots of options for special diets. My friend went with me to get gluten-free Tamari and left with a huge selection of single can sake brands. I didn't catch the name of the woman working there but she was perhaps the most excellent representative of a shop I've ever seen - knowledgeable about all the items and went out of her way to help us find things they didn't have there! Honestly, I can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Kevin R.

Yelp
Came here to buy some soup spoons, but will be back due to not just all the beautiful authentic Japanese products and the friendly staff. They are authentically passionate about their wares, not just fronting to make sales. Strong recommend.
google avatar

Adan G.

Yelp
Love stopping by this shop to pickup random odds and ends. For the every day groceries or ingredients I have the luxury of stopping at a Tokyo Central near me, but the two owners here know their stuff. They have a well curated selection of the things I can get at Tokyo Central and many things they go out of their way to stock that I haven't seen elsewhere and so stop here when in town for their recommendations. They also have a good sake collection and my girlfriend and I have had a couple of flights here to find new sake to enjoy. For being a small boutique in Palm Springs their prices are pretty reasonable. I actually scanned an item in the Amazon app while here to add to my cart, not to buy on Amazon but to remind me to look up a measurement when I get home so that next time I'm here I can buy the right size I need and their prices were the same. That surprised me since I figured I'd would be maybe a buck more expensive to help them make a small profit. Definitely worthy buying from here since they're not trying to gouge you like a normal boutique would, the shop keepers are knowledgeable, they have good sake & beer, and they have good house wares.

Yelp
I have been here twice, and the visits were a year apart and both times I was impressed! Last August my husband and I traveled to Japan, and have been very interested in their culture since then! We were so lucky to have stumbled upon this store--they have it all! They have a ver large selection of sake, Japanese dishes, condiments, chopsticks, housewares, tea sets, sake sets, etc etc etc. Last year when we were in we got to meet the owners and they were so friendly! We loved chatting with them, and they mentioned they were having some sushi class later that day. I think sometimes they have special events. This year, we met a female employee and really enjoyed chatting with her as well. We decided to split a sake flight (my dad, me, and my husband) and she gave us so much information about the Sake and Japanese culture. It was great! A cultural experience in itself! If you are into Japanese culture, or are curious, definitely check this place out and perhaps have a sake tasting!
google avatar

Suzy K.

Yelp
What a treat to stop here today for a sake tasting. The proprietors are friendly, knowledgeable, and great to spend time with. In addition to sake they have lots of other items with Japanese influence. Look forward to visiting again when they relocate to Palm Canyon. A great place to visit and learn about Sake
google avatar

Yelp
My daughter-in-law and I explored the Main Street A Palm Springs and found the coolest store ever. Wabi Sabi has so many things for my own kitchen, so I can fix healthier and lighter meals using healthy soups. So many types and sizes of bowls, with great chopsticks (which I still am learning how to use) and soup spoons. Both of us came home with settings for 8 so we can start entertaining with light salads and soups. Darrell, the owner spent a lot of time showing us different items in this store. Of course there will be days that I just put Store-Bought Ramen in these bowls and add a pretty salad and be happy to serve it to the guest in these really pretty place settings!
google avatar

Austin L.

Yelp
Really neat, unique little store. Bought an awesome Japanese knife and cutting board and a syphon coffee-maker. I use the knife and cutting board everyday and the coffee-maker twice a day. Very pleased with my purchases. Darrell and Sam are both friendly, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable about their products. I highly recommend checking this place out.

Yelp
I LOVE this boutique, and the service I got from Daryl...he LITERALLY described the perfect dress to me while I was at the farmers market, and went to the shop the next day and it is 100% PERFECT for me! Bought it, and I'm happy. THAT is great customer service. I think I need more in other colors....Daryl? Thank you!

Yelp
All of the items in here are high quality and well priced. They have clothing, plates, bowls, really nice knives, tea sets, and chop sticks. The owners are very nice and helpful. Definitely looking to come back!
google avatar

Barbara R.

Yelp
The knife I bought at your shop is the best knife I have ever owned. I wish we would have bought a set. Feeling we needed better, my husband spent a lot of a cuisenard set, and they cut nothing like our knife bought at this store! Next time in Palm Springs we will buy more. Very worth the investment!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
As my husband & I we're taking a stroll a sandwich board along the sidewalk caught my eye. Wabi Sabi Japan Living with an arrow pointing the way. I tell my husband that I want to check it out. It turns out to be a ceramic, home goods and sake shop. As we were admiring the highly curated collection of ceramic pieces one of the owners asked if we needed any help. We got to talking about our trip to Japan and found out that the other owner was from Hiroshima. My mom's from Hiroshima too. The conversation quickly turned to food and Okonomiyaki and how Hiroshima's was the best. We could have continued talking to them all day, they were so nice. We ended up buying some cool ramen bowls and then of course discussed where to get the best ramen in L.A. We can't wait to go back. They also do sake tastings.

Yelp
My parents have been coming here for a few years. They have brought me little gifts from this store, and I'm always delighted by the uniqueness of each item. I stopped by the shop the other day and I bought a few things for myself and my home. I am in love with the Sencha Green Tea the store owners helped me pick out. I bought a cute little cup and tea seep to make my green tea drinking experience even more enjoyable. My son picked out a few little erasers that look like sushi. The owners have such a sweet and personable demeanor. I felt very welcomed and I will be returning for more goodies soon! I was also intrigued by the sign that said Sake Tasting, I might plan a kid-free trip for that experience!

Jill O.

Yelp
What a gem!!!! They have so many great kitchen ware, dishes and just some good 'ol fun stuff. I would love to have seen more Japanese stationary items but you will not be disappointed in this shop. Great staff very helpful and give fun background stories on items. love it!!
